A McDonald's in Cary, N.C., will be the country's first McDonald's with an electric vehicle charging station.

...until some bum pisses on the thing and gets fried. :-D

Two problemos:

1 - they don't have a practical electric pickup truck with sufficient horsepower yet

2 - McDonald's vittles suck especially since they stopped frying their fries in beef tallow

.......I think you might like to check out this thread ::

This is good publicity for now, but wait until cars like the Chevy Volt and the Tesla are widely available.

A few months of that, and a Happy Meal is going to have to cost $30 to offset the electric bill.

Couple that w/ cap-n-trade and you're lookin' at $50-ish

...and what's all this going to do to the already stressed grid?

What next? Valet parking for all the Little Rascals?

Damn just can't make some liberals happy can you.

I think it's more jealosy than anything else. Just pissed the south did it first.

have to dig more coal for the extra electric.

They should install stairmasters instead of seats for the junk-gobbling tubs of lard.

Hahaha, Cary is the bourgeois capital of the world. It's like a cancerous tumor of strip malls and subdivisions.

And it will cost how much?

Here's an idea. Put solar panels on the flat roof of those buildings to create the energy for that service. It pays for itself and there are no emissions. Now that's good business.
It's amazing the ideas one can have when not immersed in partisan politics.
Also, I have heard it argued for years by some conservatives that there should be no pressure on the auto industry to build smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, because there is no demand. Now the argument is going to switch to there is going to be such a demand, that it will stress your grids. Make up your mind.

A glimpse into how one day business can make money from free renewable energy.

i dunno sounds kinda stoopid. anyone who ops for and manages to get an electric car would know better than to eat at Micky D's.

WHAT!!!! I don't care how you produce the electricity, it ain't free.

#12: If the charging station was put to regular use, the photovaltaic grid would need to be about 20,000 square feet.

And why do you dump that position on the auto industry, quite partisanly, on conservatives? I've had plenty of liberal friends driving gas guzzlers thru the years.

Nice try.

Wrong. Not with present demand, or the demand of the near future.
My "conservative" statement was a response to an earlier post. Context.
Not even close to a nice try.

I guess we are supose to read your mind?

No, just a requirement of reading. Your post is only what, #17. Sniper, what an ironic name.

And who is paying for this while the car is sucking up electricity?

And who is paying for this while the car is sucking up electricity?

The people inside who pay 5 bucks for a McSolyent Burger that costs all of 25 cents to produce.

It takes a Chevy Volt 3 hours (minimum) to re-charge.

This is stupid.

Why don't they spend their money to learn how to make good food? That is the only thing that will get me to go there...

I travel all over the world and McDonald's is quite popular everywhere.

I don't eat there, but I'm not so fucking smug and self-righteous to declare that the rest of the world is out-of-step with me.

I'm happy to let other people make their own choices -- but what do you expect? I'm an Independent Conservative.

You, however, feel differently.

I don't eat there, but I'm not so fucking smug and self-righteous to declare that the rest of the world is out-of-step with me

It's not being smug Vern McD's offerings suck. Now if they were to offer an honest hamburger on a bun with taste and a generous slice of onion along with old-fashioned greasy french fries I'd be a regular.

Yeah I'm a saturated fat type of guy and yet I'm underweight though I imagine my arteries are clogged but hey it's worth it.

Just don't go inside, or bring enough Lipitor to survive the visit.

"I'm not so fucking smug and self-righteous to declare that the rest of the world is out-of-step with me."

Did you really type that without spontaneously combusting, Verno? Independent conservative? Please...you're the prototypical lock-step Ugly American reichwinger right down to your oft-soiled Dick Cheney underoos.

"I'm happy to let other people make their own choices- -but what do you expect? I'm an Independent Conservative." VERNON

I guess that's why all you Independent Conservatives are pro choice (NOT). You're happy to let other people make their own choices; as long as they agree with you- -but what would you expect? You're an Independent Conservative.

Wow, Scotch...I must have really burned you.

What do you know? It is possible.

www.inhabitat.com

What formula did you use, and what numbers did you plug in that formula to get that 20,000 square feet figure?

Oh, you just made it up?

You're a legend in your own mind Dan but I'm sure your wife has muttered that many a time after you've attempted to perform your husbandly duties

"You're a legend in your own mind"

I wasn't the one who brought me up in a completely unrelated thread.

That would be you.

#32: I made them up

Unrelated thread? Dude says "You're happy to let other people make their own choices; as long as they agree with you" who else would anyone think of Dan? It fits you to a "T"

"who else would anyone think of Dan? "

Well, in your case, no one else.

It's kind of flattering...in a creepy, Gimme A Sc0tch sort of way.

Refreshing honesty. Thank you.

Tell the truth Dan you're upset cause I won't be bothered creating a whole new thread dedicated to trashing you. You're not a very subtle masochist are you? Well there's still hope if the Christian Scientist mailman relents and delivers your tearful plead begging Diablo to do just that.

"you're upset cause I won't be bothered creating a whole new thread dedicated to trashing you."

Your man-crush on me is starting to get a little weird.

"Well there's still hope if the Christian Scientist mailman relents"

Gee, I must've really pwned you for you to overreact like this. Sorry, old man.

You're still smarting Dan cause Diablo got the better of you even though he was apparently inebriated

"cause Diablo got the better of you"

Someone who didn't even understand what I was posting?

Someone who posted a question of mine, proceeded to answer a different question, then took me to task for not answering the question I'd already answered in the post he excerpted?

That Diablo?

If that's your barometer of "got the better of", you're even more pathetic than I first thought.

He answered you even though you kept tap-dancing around it but it's easy to see why you want everybody to think that Dan the way you post and then eagerly bend over and wait for someone to make you feel used and abused. Guess it saves you the money you'd have to shove out on a male dominator otherwise. Maybe Diablo should set up a paypal account and charge for humiliating you.

"...the way you post and then eagerly bend over and wait for someone to make you feel used and abused."

*sigh*

Poor Sc0tch is projecting, again.

" the money you'd have to shove out on a male dominator "

Like I said...creepy.

As creepy as your tap-dancing Dan?

Much, much creepier, old man.

What you think passes for debate is pretty laughable. At first, I was surprised when you admitted you only made twelve bucks an hour. After a few of your more recent posts, I'm surprised anyone is willing to pay you that much.

As much as I'd like to continue seeing you play innocent Dan today's Saturday and my son's at his mam's so it's the best day for me to continue my never-ending quest for archaic non censored 50's Japanese midget porn I haven't seen yet but I'm confident Diablo will be along to satisfy your desire to deceitfully cry "foul".

The original point being that millions of people worldwide like McDonald's. I sure as hell don't understand it. But the fact remains.

Sorry, you sorry-assed dildo, but I am completely pro choice. As are most Conservatives.

Didn't know that, did you?

Being a pro-choice Conservative means accepting responsibility for you choices.

OH MY!!!!!!!!

Liberals want free choice without responsibility.

You want to fuck 12 guys a week, then be responsible. Take birth control. If you get pregnant then take responsibility for your actions.

why is that so hard for a cracker like you to understand?

Vernon-
re: "take birth control"

Much of the religious "conservative" base is against birth control programs both domestically and in our funding of programs around the world.

Surely you know this.

Surely you know this.

I have been to more than 50 countries -- including the most misogynist places like Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

Birth control is available, cheap or free. A lot of it funded by the U.S. Americans don't like to fund abortion, but they will fund birth control (unless you are saying that abortion is birth control? Killing babies after sport fucking?)

Your attempts at making this a 'Conservative' issue are at least lame, and more likely pathetic.

Turning a discussion that is obviously about domestic policy into a UN topic stinks of surrender. Save faced. Stop posting now. You are a loser.

Vernon-
Last I heard from you, you didn't even live in the US.

Surely you know this.

BTW, your profound ignorance of American Conservatives is disturbing. You may find an abberant Catholic priest somewhere against birth control.

Maybe

But you show the typical Liberal mindset. Since all Liberals share the same brain and take orders from Central Command, you ASSUME that Conservatives are the same.

As a Conservative, I can accept someone with a different opinion. (Scary, ehh?)

It is amazing how intolerant Liberals are.

Vernon-
Evidently you don't know that. Maybe if you ever decide to return to the US you'll get a clue, but I doubt it.

Last I heard from you, you didn't even live in the US.

Wow! You are really on top of things! What a go-getter you must be!

I'm sure your manager at Subway has big plans for you. You may be promoted to slicing tomtoes!

Vernon-
Where do you live? (It's certainly not in the US)

BTW Brainiac, I mentioned plans, and my reasons, to move international more than a year ago.

The "last you heard?" How totally fucking dense are you? Greater minds (that does not say much) have tried to trash me for more than a year.

Of course they have failed. How do you criticize someone with the guts to move to another country? You can't do it, you Kroger whore.

But once again, you pathetically try to put me on the defensive. What a fucking loser.

Do you even have a passport? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Vernon-
re: How do you criticize someone with the guts to move to another country? You can't do it, you Kroger whore.

I admire your courage to move to another country to milk the lower tax rates. You are a true patriot.

Do you pay US taxes, Vernon?

Do you pay them in crickets?

As an American, I must pay taxes to Taiwan. I do get to deduct that from my taxes to the IRS. So I pay the same -- so much for 'milking' eh?. I am a resident of Tennessee, so I only owe taxes there on investment income.

So you continue to be an uninformed ignorant turd.

I live in Taiwan because my two main businesses are recruiting nurses (from the Philippines) and lab techs (mostly from China) to work in the US.

When I lived in the US I got tired of the 27-hour (one way) flights to Asia. This way my trips are short and quick. My children go to local schools, where they learn Chinese.

My children already speak English, Bisaya and Tagalog. In your reply, please tell me why learning Chinese is a bad thing.

racist bigotry is always amusing
