Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), in a Senate hearing on the EPA budget this morning, decried the extraordinary amount of spending by corporate global warming polluters to lobby Congress. Reading from a report on new lobbying disclosures, Whitehouse noted that carbon polluters such as electric utilities and oil and gas companies have spent nearly $80 million on lobbying just in the first quarter of 2009. Whitehouse concludes. "For as long as there's been pollution," Sen. Whitehouse explained, "there has been a constant battle with polluters who don't want to pay the costs of their pollution, either preventing or cleaning it up"

Both the Congress and Senate are full of assholes that do not give a damn about their country or constituents yet voters keep reelecting the same people to fuck them in the ass why is that...

VOTE ANTI INCUMBENT

END THE ASS FUCKINGS...

The polluters join hands with the health insurance lobbies and demonstrate why America is a nation run by and for corporations. That was never the intention of the founding fathers. If I ever read another post from some right winger about "originalism" in regard to the SC I think I will vomit.

why mms can set one free:>)

=====================

danni...agree, whether you're the average Joe the plumber or the average Joe the VP you can't compete against the money and the access it buys to our "citizen legislators".

Gosh? Is danni condemning even Democrat Party legislators? Is the government just one big ripoff operation now serving to transfer money to people with various favored - bought and paid for - agendas?

First the ripoff scheme, then the justification, which is always easy to find.

In my State a few years ago, a legislator owned a high-end car agency, Lamborghinis and that type of vehicle. So somehow, the registration tax was changed from ad valorem to tax per auto based on legislation that he had introduced and which the legislature passed and the Governor signed. As I recall, the ad valorem tax was deductible and the unitary tax is not.

The man was re-elected. Who is at fault.

So did anyone expect some other result? Environmentalism is like any other ism. A scam.

Diablo-
It's a good thing oil giants are sitting this one out, and not buying votes, etc.

Betelg, Hush! The government might get a clue.

It's a good thing oil giants are sitting this one out, and not buying votes, etc.

As if AlGore and those pushing 'green' (sic) energy aren't suckling up to the government teet.

Oh Jeff! Please. The greens are holy unlike Christians. The greens are above reproach!

Yeah, it surely will get the auto industry back on its feet...really really quick.

Those poor, poor Democrats who can't govern properly, because they're blinded by all the "carbon pollution cash".

Senate Flush with Carbon Pollution Cash

Wow. I am shocked that those who hustle the very lifeblood of capitalism would hold sway over the stewards of our nation.

Shocked.

The more I read DANNI's statements, the more I think the poor kid is just mentally retarded.

DANNI, do you understand this is a "republic" and that people we ELECT make the laws and spend money how THEY SEE FIT?

There is absolutely ZERO, NONE, NADA, power in the hands of any company.

NOTHING. There never has been.

I think what you are trying to say, but utterly fail, because you don't have the mental capacity, is that politicians get rich and do the bidding of Corporations because they are the ones paying to elect them and they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

If the politicians decided to, they could ignore every special interest tomorrow. But they are all corrupt, so they do their bidding.

A PERFECT example of this is CALIFORNIA. The unions run the state.

So what you are saying Danni, is that you are indeed STUPID. Because you vote for people who do the corporations bidding.

I can say that I do not, because my hero is Teddy Roosevelt, the biggest trust buster in history.

You vote Democrat, you vote for a more corrupt USA. Not a single one of them is true to the people.

Not 1. Republicans actually have a few people beholden t to the people, and NOBODY ELSE.

Ron Paul is a perfect example of this.

But you know nothing about him, because you are stupid.

Kuma

How can you not believe in global warming caused by massive energy consumption?

What the hell did you think would happen when you burn 16,000,000,000 pounds of coal a day (Yeah, that's billion) or 3,360,000,000 gallons of oil a day (yeah, that's trillion...) on average worldwide? Honestly, what kind of moron would think that would have no significant side effect?

I'm not saying go cold turkey or that we need to stop it all together. But we definitely need to scale back and use some alternative forms.

Because SYCOPHANT, the global warming argument can only go 1 way.

More CO2 = warming.

However, this falacy is proven false, because the 10 years when we had the highest concentration of C02, and is rising, we had GLOBAL COOLING.

because of little incoivenient truths like these, global warming being the fault of man to an extent we can manipulate is hardly a fact.

You understand, or you still don't get it.

The lobbyists all organize together forming a union of sorts to negotiate with congress to get what they want, and I thought the right hate unions.

The corporate world has more unions for themselves but they don't like it when the unions are formed for fair wages and treatment.

We do hate unions, they should be banned.

We do hate unions, they should be banned.

LOL!

You mean we shouldn't let other corporate heads sit on other corporate boards?

The biggest union ever is corporate boards.

Not everyone here shares that sentiment...

If "cap and trade" passes, the Dems will see the biggest backlash in a century in a very short time...

Jimmy Carter's term will look like the "good ole' days"...

We'll be watchin' "O Brother where Art Thou" wishin' we had some squirrel to eat...

Carbon Dioxide is NOT a pollutant.. this is like something out of a bad movie... idiots convincing other idiots of idiocy. I can't figure out if the leaders of this movement actually believe this crap, or they just see it as a way to get money and control...

Regardless.. co2 is NOT a pollutant. Regardless of what the government says.

Put a plastic bag over your head!

Global cooling? Got a link?

CO2 concentration has, I am led to believe, been rising since the start of the industrial revolution centuries ago. Which means you'll probably want to look at more than one isolated ten-year period to see the effects.

The man was re-elected. Who is at fault.

That depends on whether or not the election was rigged/fixed or an honest vote count.

What the hell do you think happens when one volcano erupts (let alone when coupled with their yearly frequency).

CO2 concentration has, I am led to believe, been rising since the start of the industrial revolution centuries ago.

Oh, so that explains why the corn tops well above 6' by July and forestation is flourishing. Green things breathe CO2!

How can they call their agenda "green" when it promotes the asphyxiation of plants I wonder?

I don't know why Darwinists are so worried about CO2... Won't we just evolve into a life form that uses the new Nitrogen , Oxygen , Carbon Dioxide, Argon, Methane and Helium mix ratios more efficiently? I mean if fish can start walking on land, then surely we can take the heat increase and breathe more CO2 for a few thousand years. :-D

Unfortunately, evolution doesn't happen in one generation. With your attitude, humanity deserves its future. I would bet you come from a large family of breeders, filling the world with ignorance, and leaving behind a huge pile of shit as the only evidence of existence.

Bob-o:

Unfortunately, evolution doesn't happen in one generation.

Did I claim notices in evolution happen overnight? Hold on, evolution is a progression is it not? Then wouldn't it in fact be changing life generation to generation... but we don't notice it because it's too minuscule of a difference? You can't get from point A to B w/o the line connecting the two, right? That'd be like teleportation... or maybe creation! Careful Bob, don't get crazy on me. :-D

Nope, wrong again... married, over 30, no kids. That totals -2 on the population increase projections right there! How many carbon credits do I get for that?

I am doing better =P

Single
No kids
30 bodies in the basement

That's like what, -31?

KANREI:

Sweet! Can I buy some off you while they're still cheap?

you'll probably want to look at more than one isolated ten-year period to see the effects.

Absolutely! Like if you look at a chart of global temperature over the last million years for example. You'll see tons of warming and cooling cycles. Now if only we could have gotten those humans a millions years ago to stop driving their damned SUV's we would still have glaciers over much of north america.
