How many popes have gone to a Promise Keepers event?

How dare they come back. What we really need are more Promise Breakers, like this group of douchebags now running Washington. Promise Breakers are the ones with the libtard support. Promise Breakers are the ones who enjoy, albeit briefly, high approval ratings. And Promise Breakers have a far, far easier life--how hard is it to say that you made a promise without realizing that the situation was worse than you thought? THAT is what takes courage!

Gobama! Gobiden!

That fucking retard hasn't typed anything original since he's posted here. If he isn't robbing Jon Stewart's jokes (and completely fucking them up), he's parroting somebody else's material.

He's an unoriginal unfunny douche, and he's been called on it for years.

In that case, there's no question. He's Joe Biden.

Retarded idiots who can woo a wife at least...

Guys who wanna keep their promises...yeah, what fu*kers!

Seems that maybe the sodomites and supporters of gay marriage here could learn a thing or two from the Promise Keepers.

If gay relationships were monogamous, you might win the PR battle. But alas, even in most gay "committed" relationships, most homosexuals have outside sexual encounters; the average homosexual has had between 509 and 1000 sexual encounters while the average heterosexual male has had seven.

If the supporters of gay marriage were gay "promise keepers" I'd bet the public would be more open to civil unions and gay marriage...

Wait for the next "you are stupid" response.

It's all this ignorant loser has

The average promise keeper named 'Kirk' has had between 23,500 and 23,593 intimate sheep and goat encounters. But of course they were loving, caring, HETEROSEXUAL sheep and goats!!!

If the supporters of gay marriage were gay "promise keepers" I'd bet the public would be more open to civil unions and gay marriage...

Interesting thought, and probably true.... at least from a political and debate sense. Most people probably just don't care. And they are weary of all the queer-whining.

The problem comes from so many gays who want to rub the nose of everyone else in their dirty laundry. They screech about civil rights, they sue churches who refuse to allow them to have ceremonies, etc.

Most Americans are Libertarians at heart. "You wanna butt-fuck another guy, go for it. Just don't demand that I praise you for it."

"The problem comes from so many gays who want to rub the nose of everyone else in their dirty laundry."

"Dirty laundry" being the fact they're legally second-class citizens.

Give them equality, and watch the "whining" stop.

"If the supporters of gay marriage were gay "promise keepers" I'd bet the public would be more open to civil unions and gay marriage..."

Gee, what a concept: deny them the right to make the promise, and then bash on them for not promising.

The concept was monogamy, as opposed to promiscuity that is the trademark of the ghey. You don't need to be legally married to be monogamous. But you knew that.

The Promise Keepers -- a Christian conservative men's group -- is focusing on women, the poor and Jews.

Ted bHaggard said he had thought that focusing on his spiritual life would help, but found that it did not. "It actually made me worse," he said.

"as opposed to promiscuity that is the trademark of the ghey. "

Gee, deny them the right to promise to be monogamous and settle down with one person the same way my wife and I did, and then bash on them for not being monogamous and settling down with one person. Some serious circular illogic you've got going there....

"You don't need to be legally married to be monogamous. But you knew that."

It helps.

Really? Who did that?

You don't need a "right" to promise to be monogamous, but you know that already. This is just more of the same thin skin you display when having the obvious pointed out to you.

Why is it so difficult for you to admit you made a mistake?

If gay relationships were monogamous, you might win the PR battle. But alas, even in most gay "committed" relationships, most homosexuals have outside sexual encounters; the average homosexual has had between 509 and 1000 sexual encounters while the average heterosexual male has had seven.

509 - 1000!! I got gypped!

By the way - 14 years and counting in a monogamous committed relationship. (Sans tax benies and about 1100 various other rights, privileges, and responsibilities)

"Why is it so difficult for you to admit you made a mistake"

Mistake? I agreed with you.

I also pointed out the ludicrousness of being upset with a group of folks for not being monogamous when in your next breath you're denying them the right to legally settle down.

I thought you, of all folks, could see the screaming hypocrisy.

They promised they'd return.

"If gay relationships were monogamous, you might win the PR battle. But alas, even in most gay "committed" relationships, most homosexuals have outside sexual encounters; the average homosexual has had between 509 and 1000 sexual encounters while the average heterosexual male has had seven."

Kirk, i'd love to know where you get your grossly exagerrated statistics. comparing the "average" loser geek hetero guy to the "average" gay porn star doesn't seem very valid. It would not surprise me that if you polled gay men, the same percentage of them believe in the "ideals" of promise keepers and thier straight counterparts. People really need to get over the misconception that gay people are all promiscous and deviant. I know a straight guy who's been with over 1000 girls and he's only 37. I also know a gay guy who's been with only 3 guys in his whole life. Stop trying to put everyone into little boxes because in reality, i'm sure you would not like the little box someone else would put you in.

There was a show on Showtime about gay men, I forget the name, but this quote I thought explained quite a bit:

People think we can't be monogamous because we are gay and that is just silly; it is because we are men.

Gee, deny them the right to promise to be monogamous and settle down with one person the same way my wife and I did, and then bash on them for not being monogamous and settling down with one person. Some serious circular illogic you've got going there....
.

Not to be nitpicky, but does that sound like agreement?

You don't need any law or right to be monogamous. Laws and legal agreements don't make one monogamous.

Now, speaking of gays, I'm going to Vt and Ma for the remainder of the week. Supposedly Holyoke is a hotbed of lesbo activity...

Enjoy gentlemen.

Yeah, I told a friend of mine who was complaining about homosexual promiscuity that he was just jealous of how easy it is for them.

Stopped him dead in his tracks. After he cursed me for about a day, he admitted that there was something to my claim. He's not as vocal about the issue anymore.

I sometimes wish I were gay...it would be easier than being anti-marriage and straight.

LOL. I look forward to the day that some woman rocks your world and you wind up on one knee with a $10K rock in your hand.

Wait, I don't think I worded that correctly.

A hoooker?

"A hoooker?"

I wasn't saying anything about her profession.

Zzzzzzzzz.
What's the real point here? It always the same wherever you go. Click on a link w/ religious tones to it and you have all the same people bickering about all the same stuff - prejudicial anti-religious assholes and evangelical fanatics slugging it out. I have to say though, it's a rare find to see a comment like Diablo's first as being assigned as a board's "extreme" accosted mean. He simply asked what was wrong w/ a pursuit to be "good". Although the term "good" depends largely on ones perspective, I think the majority of us here have a pretty decent idea of what is right or wrong. Regardless, I have yet to hear an answer (well, considering I'm at work and haven't been able to refresh for a loooong time, perhaps there is now an answer).

Christianity 101 for the ignorant...
Christians are aware that they are bound by their flesh. In that, they are tempted to sin. It is their mission to avoid situations where they can succumb to the imperfections of the flesh. This includes adultery, lying, stealing, coveting, not loving one's neighbor, vanity, being a slave of debt, killing people, etc. Through Jesus they're saved from natural sin, but this does not excuse the need to pursue the course. There are Christians out there who manipulate the Word for their own benefit... most commonly taking advantage of God's love and mercy to continue a life of sin with little penitence. This, however, is in itself is one of those limitations set by our fleshy container and goes against the teachings of Christ - further hindering ones ability to "climb above it". It is not to say non-Christians are not good people, or Christians are an elite class of better others; it is just that Christians try to follow a set of rules that are believed to come from something bigger than any of us. Christian or not, if you hold individuals (including yourself) as being something other than just people, of course you'll have that spiteful, "who do they think they are" mentality toward them.

Should Christians give up practicing because they sometimes fail or give way to hypocrisy? I think the Promise Keepers simply utilize the power of the community to support one another... not much different than groups like AA - but maybe more of a "preemptive" group than one whose members have all been addicts?

Okay, I see the discussion turned from religion to homosexuality... my bad.

Sorry if I can't, in good conscious, support a vote that would promote gays from marrying... as marriage in my faith is a sacrament which is solely between a man and woman (not my fault government and insurance companies got involved w/ the semantics of the terminology for the sake of a buck). It is not the place for Christians to condemn homosexuals, yet we have every right to stand against the practice.

I'll take my religious "rants" as they say and go.

"Christian or not, if you hold individuals (including yourself) as being something other than just people, of course you'll have that spiteful, "who do they think they are" mentality toward them."

I think that you've got the cart before the horse here. When your position is that someone who does not believe as you do is doomed to eternal torture, how do you expect people to react?

"When your position is that someone who does not believe as you do is doomed to eternal torture, how do you expect people to react?"

Well its not like they don't try to remedy the problem by converting your doomed ass.

There are religions that believe everyone else is doomed and they don't even actively recruit. They obviously don't give a shit about everyone else.

At least Christians have the decency to be extremely annoying about the fact that you're going to hell.

That's why you shouldn't be annoyed when Jehovah's Witnesses come to the door. They may be batshit crazy but given their beliefs, they are trying to help you out.

"...Seems that maybe the sodomites and supporters of gay marriage here could learn a thing or two from the Promise Keepers....

Like how to be a two-bit adulterer and use your buddies to cover it up?????

"...If gay relationships were monogamous, you might win the PR battle. But alas, even in most gay "committed" relationships, most homosexuals have outside sexual encounters; the average homosexual has had between 509 and 1000 sexual encounters while the average heterosexual male has had seven....

I am the average Homosexual Male. I have had 5 boyfriends/encounters in 32 years.

For the past 15 years I have been loyal and Monogamous to my Legal Gay Husband, and the same goes for him.

On the other hand: Abortions for Out-of-Wedlock Mothers is off the charts. Desire for the Morning after Pills if off the charts, Orphanages desperate to get rid of Straight People's tossed away garabge children is off the charts...

But you don't seem to have a problem or even recognize the problem with Straight Promiscuity.

Because you are a hypocrite, one would guess. Your who class of people are nothing but Promiscuity Keepers (tm).

So ultimately, STFU. You don't know shit.

And Neither does 101Chairbrain, who just took the DR Daily Moron award.

Here's one example from the New England Journal of Medicine:

Of heterosexually active adults in the general population, about 20 percent of men have had 1 sexual partner during their lives, 55 percent have had up to 20 partners, and about 25 percent have had 20 or more partners11. Some older studies conducted before the epidemic of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) indicated that homosexual men were more likely than heterosexual men to have had a very large number of sexual partners14. More recent population-based studies have found this to be relatively uncommon. For instance, Fay et al.10 found that of men who had homosexual contact after the age of 20, almost all had 20 or fewer homosexual partners in their lifetimes. Of 1450 men in the sample, only 2 were reported to have had 100 or more same-sex partners10.

"I think that you've got the cart before the horse here. When your position is that someone who does not believe as you do is doomed to eternal torture, how do you expect people to react?"

It's more about torment than fire and brimstone. I think that the "eternal torture" is more like the result of ones practices in life "haunting" them in "death"... evil consuming one to a point where they cannot escape its bond. All I know is Jesus didn't want anyone to be doomed it was the reason he taught his people on Earth and was crucified on the cross... because man wasn't strong enough to fulfill the first covenant of God alone (the "old law"). It took Jesus to save us. The things he taught are a guideline (the new promises of God) which we are to follow in order to help prevent torment in our lives and after. It's the act of loving one another and the realization that we are loved by God that saves us. Salvation isn't some magical spell or a series of actions acted out in a certain sequential fashion that makes faith "work" for people.

"Twenty or fewer" covers a lot of gray areas. Someone who has had 15 partners by age 22 is more promiscuous than Dump describes himself.

Of course. But that would require assuming facts not in evidence, wouldn't it?

The point is, there is not the absurd disparity in sexual activity between gay and straight men that Kirk's claim suggests.

The point is, there is not the absurd disparity in sexual activity between gay and straight men that Kirk's claim suggests.

Well, there slightly is because men say "no" far less than women do. Now, if masterbation counted, straight men would dominate the challenge...although it could classify as a gay act since it is a man giving a handjob to a man....

a gay MD friend of mine who specializes in HIV here in NY tells me that it is not at all uncommon for gay men to have had partners in the 100's.

Studies show that 95% of Promise Keepers are fags.

but I guess if his statement is based on his patients, that may be an overblown impression.

yeah, pun intended I guess.

Braggarts!

But seriously, of all my gay friends and acquaintances, I don't know anyone who would say they've had "100's" of partners. Certainly some have had many more than others, but promiscuity is not bound by sexual orientation.

Braggarts!

You should have seen the sinister smile on his face when he said it.... implying that he was among those he mentioned.

Another gay friend of mine is 35 and still a virgin. But he's schizophrenic so....

I think the Promise Keepers simply utilize the power of the community to support one another... not much different than groups like AA - but maybe more of a "preemptive" group than one whose members have all been addicts?

AA doesn't do exorcisms and they have a non association with other groups, politics, causes, tradition/pact.

the problem is this they have the benefit and protection of the law other groups do not, and, they want to keep it that way. they believe the other groups are abhorrent and should be forever outlawed and banned.

equality is anathema to Promise Keepers. they a political action group set to accomplish those things, their public face is a guise (not a very good one).

sure some of them, perhaps many , may believe the guise and benefit from it. nevertheless those are still being used for political end of denying others rights.

e.g., AA makes no issue statements.

PK issue statements:

Gay Marriage:
Promise Keepers shares the same historic stance taken by Evangelicals and Catholics: that sex is a good gift from God to be enjoyed in the context of heterosexual marriage. We believe that the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality violates God's creative design for a husband and a wife and that it is a sin.

Abortion:
Those in the womb are some of the most defenseless of all human beings and destroying their lives as a means of birth control is surely a sin.

AA has singleness of purpose PK could learn from. But that IS NOT what PK is, it IS "hidden" a political advocacy group. Members may or may not realize that.

Love thy neighbor as thyself, then, BMECH.
...by keeping your religion out of your government.

Salvation isn't some magical spell or a series of actions acted out in a certain sequential fashion that makes faith "work" for people.

especially ^ since you believe in justification by faith.

Bible passages used to defend sola fide.

'During his time away from PK, McCartney founded an organization called "The Road to Jerusalem," whose purpose, the Los Angeles Times reported in 2006, was "to hasten the end times."'

McCartney and friends are free to believe whatever cockamamy fairy-tale they want, but as soon as they act with intent to 'hasten the end times' in a way that endangers rational folks (such as translating fairy-tale beliefs into public policy) then rational folks need to stop them from doing so (peacefully and legally, if possible).

AA has singleness of purpose PK could learn from. But that IS NOT what PK is, it IS a "hidden" political advocacy group. Members may or may not realize that.

In all honesty, I don't know much about the actual Promise Keepers. You're saying they run under the blanket of "be faithful to ones spouse" (who few consider the idea lunacy), and use it as the propellant for stirring up support and funding for their actual agenda? I am open to that proposal. Just watched a video of theirs... left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Love thy neighbor as thyself, then, BMECH.
...by keeping your religion out of your government.

Ha ha. My devotion is part of my life a major influence throughout in fact. I also vote. Naturally, my beliefs hold sway on which box I tend to check at the polls. This country ensures it's no different for anyone else out there. We all take a position based on facts or formed opinions. I would hardly think you'd be suggesting that say, if I was gay, I might want to consider voting against gay marriage as to offset the bias I have because I am gay? How can "religion" not be a part of government just as much as others beliefs not be a part of it?

Another gay friend of mine is 35 and still a virgin. But he's schizophrenic so....

#61 | Posted by Hagbard_Celine

Why do the (gay) heathen rage...

Damn, dumpling, I'll agree with you on the above all day long.

Gay marriage and homosexual behavior are pretty low on the my list of stuff I'm worried about in America....it does make for interesting discussions here, though, mostly because openly gay posters like you get so effin' pissed even discussing these issues...it's like poking a paranoid dog with a sharp stick (I'd imagine).

Thanks for assuming I'm a hypocrite though...MY experience is that hypocrites don't usually bring up moral issues...unless they're tormented governors or televangelists with deep-seated sin issues...

Anybody note the irony of Promise Keepers meeting at UC Boulder, calling it "A Time For Honor"
