Holidaymakers avoided a long delay to their flight home when a passenger fixed a mechanical problem with their plane. Passengers on Thomas Cook flight TCX9641 from Menorca were told to expect an eight-hour wait while an engineer was flown out from the UK. One passenger then identified himself as a qualified aircraft engineer and offered to try to remedy the fault.

"It was reassuring to know the person who had fixed it was still on the aeroplane." ~Keith Lomax

I'd say so. LOL

My guess is he changed a light bulb.

But it was a lightbulb of critical importance I'm sure. With special threading which you need to go to schoolto learn how to screw properly.

I thought screwing came natural. Properly, well ,hmmmm.

They should refund his ticket cost.

The passenger was later fired for breaking union rules by taking work away from the engineer that needed to be flown in.

This is why aircraft mechanics can go to school for two years and earn more than pediatricians who go to school 10 years.

You suppose health care 'reform' will include any kind of 'equal pay' requirements?

Vernon, sadly, yes.

The best part was..... they were only 35 minutes late landing after he fixed whatever was wrong.

The best part was.... they were only....A split second from total annihilation. They would have vaporized into a crisp, not unlike those chili flavored Fritos. Only lightning reflexes by the crew saved the day.

There, fixed it for ya. You betcha.

ROTFL

John Madden doesn't look so dumb now.

.....the airline's too cheap for that......

....but they let him feel up the stewardess and she said he's got great hands.......

My guess is he changed a light bulb.

Don't laugh, that grounded a Dash-8 once, years ago. I pointed out to the pilot that a quick trip down to the local NAPA would fix it.

Rules, of course. So, I got a rental car and drove the rest of the way.

Operating efficiency has always been about having the ability to fix things when they break. Unfortunately corporatism has made procedure and other issues such as CYA, and CEO bonuses, the priorities instead of actually getting the job done.
