Gail Collins: Truly, Sarah Palin has come a long way. When she ran for vice president, she frequently became disjointed and garbled when she departed from her prepared remarks. Now the prepared remarks are incoherent, too. "And a problem in our country today is apathy," she said on Friday as she announced that she would resign as governor of Alaska at the end of the month. "It would be apathetic to just hunker down and go with the flow.' Nah, only dead fish go with the flow.' No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time ... to BUILD UP." Basically, the point was that Palin is quitting as governor because she's not a quitter. Or a deceased salmon.

Gail Collins always make me laugh. I don't care your partisan affiliation, this is funny.

"And a problem in our country today is apathy,"

I just don't care about this.

Well-said roy. I guess the gov. was right.

It's a sign of apathy to be governor of Alaska? Palin may be screwier than I thought. More likely, rumors of coming indictments are true.

I am a quitter, so I'm going to keep running this site. Sarah logic am fun!

She's in some deep shit. The Sarahcuda is extinct; we just don't know exactly why yet.

she got paid.

Watching the republicocksuckers feign surprise is somewhat entertaining though.

She swore her oath of duty as a Governor to God.
But she's cutting and running to serve "a higher power."
WTF?!

I was in Nashville attending a Ricky Skaggs bluegrass concert (Ricky Skaggs is terrific!) at the old Ryman auditorium, and was out of the news cycle.

Man, what a surprise! (not feigned surprise, real surprise)

I was caught of guard, just like everyone else.. What has been funny is watching the talking heads try to explain this and pontificate about its meaning.

The same clowns that told us for certain, that Hillary and Rudy would be the party nominees at the last election. Instead Obama comes out of nowhere, and McCain, whose campaign was pronounced finished by the elites.. sprang back to take the Republican slot.

The lesson.. politics is hard to predict.

"She's finished, blah blah blah.. " I wouldn't bet on it.

A side bar to all of this that seems to be gaining some traction (I hope it continues) is how badly tort reform is needed in this nation. Palin was subjected to frivolous investigations designed solely to embarrass her and cost her large sums of money. "Let's kill all the lawyers, kill em tonight" (Its From the Eagles song... I'm just kiddin)

Happy Fourth! Yea America!

NMG,

Did you perhaps mean that twat reform is badly needed? That would make sense in a Palin thread!!!

Otherwise we would have to think you can't go even a single post without parroting Flush and Glenda.

She quit because she was caught having an affair and news of the divorce will be made public in early August.

.......maybe one her kids is knocked up again........

Was I the only one to ever notice the gal never seems to have it up there. I met plenty of smart women in my life and she is not even in my top 10.

I heard her speech live. I happened to run across it when flipping channels. She made almost no sense whatsoever. If you had asked me why she was resigning after I listened to the speech, the best I could come up with was that she felt that with all the national spotlight and bad press she's gotten, it was too much on her and not good for Alaska, so she felt she needed to step down.

Maybe I was trying to make too much sense of it. I can't imagine how resigning from a governor's position would be good when running for any other post. I think she basically destroyed any chance of running for Senate or President.

So, Palin is basically saying that because people didn't listen to her retarded ramblings and vote for her, they must not care?

I think someone needs to explain to Plan tat it's not that people don't care, it's that they don't care about her stupid ideas.

*tat = that

What does Tort reform have to do with investigations into ones background? Illegal or not?

Clinton was subjected to frivolous investigations designed solely to embarrass him and cost him large sums of money.

How many of your "gals" ever became Governor Joe? Or a VP candidate?

Just because they don't shine in the spotlight like the Mesiah, they are stupid?

Hell, Lincoln was a textbook case for prozac. His depression almost killed him. Had we had 24/7 media bias back then he NEVER would have made it to office.

You fuckers never give up...

"Just because they don't shine in the spotlight like the Mesiah, they are stupid?"

No...but Sarah Palin is stupid.

Anyone listening to her interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric should know that. I'd gladly vote Republican again if they offered me a Goldwater or a Danforth, but Palin is a joke.

"I think she (Palin) basically destroyed her chances of running for the Senate or President..."

I agree. Recent behavior is best explained by poor adaption to stress under pressure, which also explains the SC governor's extended weirdness.

Lincoln suffered from black depressions. He got through them, in part, by staying up all night reading Shakespeare to his aides.

If he rambled incoherently when speaking publically, no one recorded it.

What this country needs is a leader like a Bernie Sanders or other far left candidate. I am sick of centrists.

Sarah Palin is stupid.

St Sarush-The Rtard "Mooseiah"-is nothing more than a brainless bimbo-she got the job as Governor because of her connections.
And even her supporters in Alaska can't stand her anymore.

@NMG_NO:
McCain, whose campaign was pronounced finished by the elites.. sprang back to take the Republican slot.

did not Huckster and Romney pull out [QUIT], essentially delivering it on a [shit] platter to MCpoppypants?

either way the "elites" were not wrong.

Time to move on all you Palin, wannna get in her pants, libs.

Case closed until further news...

Shut this shit hole down Rcade. You have milked enough! :)

I'm from Wisconsin.

That's not where milk comes from.

Trueblue...Please explain to the folks with 3 thumbs where the hell milk comes from.

BeachBlur-a little thorazine, some cogenten, should help.
That and a tier 1 status.

Obviously, none of us really know what's going on in her head. So we're left to speculate.

My take is that she sees the same thing we do . . . a huge vacuum in GOP leadership . . . ripe for the taking, if only (IF ONLY) she wasn't mired down in that lowly governor's job.

Solution?

Dump the lowly governor's job and barnstorm the lower 48 . . . 365/24/7.

Power freaks like Palin don't ever quit. I think we'll be seeeing more of her than we ever thought possible. Or even wanted, for that matter.

The good thing is that she'll continue to jabber incoherently and drive everybody nuts between now and whatever higher office she intends to hold.

Now that I've analyzed her motives, I think I'LL send her a "YOU GO GIRL" e-card.

The sooner she starts making a bigger fool of herself, the better.

During the election it worked out that the more America got to know Sarah Palin the lower the poll numbers were for Sarah Palin. The smartest thing she could do to increase her chances of being taken seriously as a presidential contender would be to hide out as long as possible and not let anyone ask her any questions about anything. The less we see and hear from Sarah Palin the more popular she will be.

In a freakishly distorted way, you're probably right.

What I can't for the life of me imagine, is how they will spin the last 18 months.

I can't think of any of her appearances, speeches, interviews whatnot as anything other than a bad Saturday Night Live skit that went horribly wrong.

From the cow's udder...

Oh, and it helps if you have the right kind of jerk ;-)!

When you wrestle with paranioas it is best not to be a minnow

How many of your "gals" ever became Governor Joe? Or a VP candidate?

You can be stupid and still advance in politics. If Palin could have combined her personal charisma and folksy charm with even a high school level of knowledge of political issues, and she had learned to take advice, she would have been a real threat.

Instead, she not only doesn't understand most issues, she doesn't want to do any homework. Has anyone read a single story about her boning up on the issues since losing the election? She's the anti-Hillary.

Sarah is the new Ronnie Raygun. Obstinate, media savy, attractive, made for TV family, conservative. This self serving woman will not go away and the bigger her messes the more publicity. God American politics are the joke of the world.

I love to educate liberals. Gives me a major hard on.

what does that mean? you fuck the dog while listening to Rush Limbaugh?

Well Palin still gets to share the national spotlight with Beck's anal cyst.

" how badly tort reform is needed in this nation. Palin was subjected to frivolous investigations designed solely to embarrass her and cost her large sums of money."

That's just a bullshit Palin talking point.

Palin claimed those "frivolous" ethics complaints cost millions of dollars. If by millions she meant less than 300K then she was telling the truth. If by millions, she meant millions then she was lying again.

Of the investigations the most expensive was one that Palin triggered herself.

www.themudflats.net

"People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"

Then by all means...don't.

No one in Government plans anymore, except the Pentagon. Because of this we have been taken advantge of by foriegn countries, particularly Asians. They protect their fledgling industries even as they begin to dominate the world. In the name of free trade we roll over.

We became a laughing stock whose Ex-Presidents are handed humongus fees for giving speeches in winners. Reagan got $2 million for one speech from the Japanese after decimating our Auto Industry with free trade talk the Japanes never honored. Clinton has pocketed $100 million. Whose side are they on?

Bush is an International embarrassment, looking to do the same. Palin would continue that tradition.

The less we see and hear from Sarah Palin the more popular she will be.

#31 | Posted by danni

Seeing is not the problem. She is okay to look at.

But hearing. I would rather shave my head with a cheese grater than to hear her speak.

My fear with her is that she has always only been just a face. A pink facade on a bait and tackle store.

I predict our lady Mrs. Palin will become a highly paid lobbyist for big oil. Her lack of character and intellect will work well in DC.

Watching the republicocksuckers feign surprise is somewhat entertaining though.

#7 | Posted by Shawn at 2009-07

yeah kind of like the goddamed fuckin democrats as they bankrupt the country
its a regular barrel of monkies

Sarah will never get more than 50% of the votes in a 40% party.
That may get her a nomination, but she will get trounced in the general.

She is not a uniter, she is a wedge personality without any crossover potential.

This is not a presidential move.

I'm guessing the fact the story was timed for Friday before a 3 day weekend suggests that it is not a positive story. Late Friday is the time in the news cycle when a Nixon fires an Archibald Cox.

As much as Saint Sarah mocked Obama for being a community organizer, she has now decided she would rather be a community organizer than a Governor.

I smell a scandal.

and if there IS NO scandal, the left and its staterun media will make one up
JUST AS THEY DID ON The 15 or so already tried and FAILED...........

but your first comment does have me thinking about it....you may have a point, but I wont be the one to admit that..LOL

We'll see what happens in the coming weeks, BLT.

Oboma prints money to get us out of debt.

my bottom line is that she wasnt going to get the nod anyway......but I like to read and listen to pointy headed libs and others even here who are so scared of her that they have to destroy her at every turn...

and if it had been me I wouldnt have minced words.
I would have said that I was through being asswhiped by the state run press.

one thing that REALLY anoyed me was all of the birds and noises in the background

but at least there wasnt some guy behind her grounding up some bird.....

"So scared of her...."

Rush Limbaugh logic---If you speak of me you're scared; if you don't speak of me, you're twice as scared.

"Oboma prints money to get us out of debt."

But you didn't notice when Reagan and Bush 1 and Bush 2 did exactly the same thing.
It's just undeniable, the righties lost all of their credibility during the past eight years. That's what is going on in the country today. No matter what the Democrats do, when the Republicans point it out....everyone remembers what those same Republicans were saying and doing just a short time ago. We don't need great memories to remember a couple of years ago. The country won't forget for at least a generation.

"She is not a uniter, she is a wedge personality without any crossover potential."

I knew that the day my brother, an independent who leans republican, called me the day after the VP debate and said "After seeing Palin last night I know who I'm voting for".

I said, So you liked her huh?

He said "Are you f'n crazy? She should never been anywhere near the White House."

He then went on to tear into for about 10 minutes, something I've never heard him do about a political related issue since Missouri voters rejected Conceal/Carry. I was absolutely stunned because I knew he already didn't like Biden because of the assault weapon bill.

The text, as posted on Gov. Palin's official website (here), uses 2,549 words and 18 exclamation points. Lincoln freed the slaves with 719 words and nary an exclamation; Mr. Jefferson declared our independence in 1,322 words and, again, no exclamation points. Nixon resigned the presidency in 1,796 words -- still no exclamation points. Gov. Palin capitalized words at random - whole words, like "TO," "HELP," and "AND," and the first letter of "Troops."
She writes, "I promised efficiencies and effectiveness!?" Was she exclaiming or questioning? I get it: both! And I don't even know what to make of a sentence that reads:

*((Gotta put First Things First))*
www.huffingtonpost.com

How aflacian. No wonder he was MIA for a couple of days. He was busy writing(sic) Sarush's letter of resignification.

l laughed wathching the pained look on Hannity's face as he discussed her decision to quit the other night. As if he is running out of idiot fundamentalists to lead the charge.

BeachBuzz, afkabl2:

Why not pack it up and return to the Ol' Moron's Home. See, da Sun's going down and they gonna be serving da kool-aid and da green beans. You know you like da green beans.

"I think she (Palin) basically destroyed her chances of running for the Senate or President..."

Well, considering the only people who claimed she would run for either were libs and dems I'd say it was never an issue. You're the ones who have her running for everything.

From a friend in AK regarding Sarah!

AKs are pissed, right, left and in between, they are just pissed. I love it!!!

The media bias back then was unreal compared to today. The stories they ran out of legitimate newspapers would make you cringe regardless of party. And that was MAIN STREAM MEDIA. They made up stories. And you know how popular he was in the South.

Now as for Palin...why is it media bias for reporting she's an idiot? If the MSM reports the sky is blue, you're the type to complain its bias against green. They don't have to present a coutnerpoint to the obvious: Palin is a nutjob and not a bright girl. Sorry your party has high profile self destructive personalities.

"Well, considering the only people who claimed she would run for either {Senate or President} were libs and dems I'd say it was never an issue. You're the ones who have her running for everything.

The ONLY ones were "libs and dems", everlong???

I'm sure MANY links can be found that would disagree with that statement, but how about this one:

www.adn.com

I realize that it is part of rightwing talking points to claim that it is only liberals who talk about Palin running for higher office. Given the amount of time Rush and Hannity spend talking about her, it is a pretty transparent and ridiculous claim. Ever since she was tapped by McCain, the uber far rightwing has been singing her praises and rallying the troops behind her. But by now however, I would have imagined even the most gung ho of rightwingers would have stopped blaming liberals or the mainstream media or anyone else other than Sarah Palin for her meteoric collapse.

Ann Coulter: Palin Could Be the Next Reagan

You mean she may be "evolving"?

I don't think they allow that in Wasilla.

Duh!

Any Republican voted in in 2012 will be reversing all kinds of mistakes. Saying it's a Reagan second-coming is just an understatement.

moder8,

This is really the first thing she has done since the election which I can point to which is truly odd. Most other things were attacks against her and she was responding. I don't really recall her having a Joe Biden type moment.

I would guess her thinking is that Obama had no more experience and she will spend the next 3 years slowing running for President.

If Obama is going to lose in 2012, the American people will conclude that electing an inexperience/novice to be President was a bad idea. I doubt very much they will turn around and say, "Hey lets elect an inexperience/novice republican this time maybe that will work."

Eddie - if you haven't seen every single thing she has done and said in public as idiodic, you should check yourself in for medical observation dude.

I need to make some bumper stickers. . .

Palin 2012: Fuck it, the world is supposed to end anyway

When I first saw this on a ticker at a bar over the weekend, my first thought was, "What a flake."

Is she conceding that she can't advance beyond the gov. position of Alaska?

I don't understand why she did this and I think this move is ruinous toward whatever career she was hoping to build upon at a national level.

Her biggest problem was a lack of experience. If she continued to perform as governor of Alaska and was able to build a resume of accomplishment, I think she could have quite possibly created a career of national prominence.

This is simply strange.

ALL RIGHT
I have written down every comment from you liberal punks here and its ALL going in my report to her lawyer.........

scared you didnt I.....

That's pretty funny.

Sounds like Kathleen Sebelius

I just now was able to watch her resignation speech - I was out-of-town this weekend.

It was a somewhat bizarre speech.

Her reasons for resigning make sense. However, she inserted a lot of BS that was not only unneccessary, but downright distracting.

She would have come accross much better if:

1. She would have stayed completely on-topic.

2. She would have been a bit more somber - 'it greatly saddens me to pass the baton, but nevertheless it is the best thing for those whom I support...etc.'

3. She had elaborated more on her reasons - 'The attacks against me are greatly costing the state of Alaska and the causes that I so strongly believe in - but go into more detail, like some hard-dollar numbers, etc.' In addition, more emphasis on the adverse affect this has had on her family.
