Just goes to show you, when morality issues become federal as in this group, hell demands payment. But the same can be said about a host of other moral issues that went federal: marijuana, abortion, slavery, Mann Act...return all such matters whenever possible to as close to regional-to-local as they can be and things calm down. The price we paid for the slavery debate makes me think there had to be other ways to defeat the injustice that could have avoided a ghastly war and the horrors Blacks suffered when kicked out onto the dirt road after the war. (e.g. why didn't abolitionists try to organize a European botcott of trade with slave states? It eventually worked on South Africa.)
