Senator Jim Inhofe (R.-Okla.) described incoming Sen. Al Franken as "that clown from Minnesota" in an interview, later backing off the remark. "I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I don't know the guy, but -- for a living he is a clown," the senator said. "That's what he does for a living."

inhofe has done a disservice to working clowns the world over. i see an apology coming. he should have emphatically stated, "buffoon" as they know no boundaries.

Poor Lettucespray got turned down again, and is projecting his hate. Next time try a woman who's package is smaller than yours.

Franken has gotten over his second biggest obstacle. His personality will be far more formidible an opponent.
Another left wing kook? Will anyone notice?
Come the annual awards season, he will be covered with tropheys for "caring" before he has a chance to vote on anything.

Nope, no favorites here either...

I suspect that the good Senator is simply jealous over the prospect of him losing his title as 'The clown from Oklahoma'.

I didn't even see a post by that name,so what are you talking about

Inhofe should stick to crowing about the awesome healthcare at club Gitmo.

A clown that attended Harvard College and graduated cum laude in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Rightttt.

The right is scared shitless of Franken, reverting to name calling like only they can.

"Comedian" describes someone who is possibly funny. Clowns are never funny. Franken is a clown.

Does this same logic apply to Sarah Palin as well? Or only to the candidates/politicians YOU like?

"A clown that attended Harvard College and graduated cum laude in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Rightttt."

Why do lefties think that just because someone went to Harvard, they are not a clown? George Bush went to Yale, and he is a "chimp," right? Why can't Franken be a clown?

Yes it does. I believe the right is also scared shitless of Palin and the harm she is likely to cause them in future elections.

LOL. You bastard - you know what I meant.

Actually, I do agree with the above statement - many mainstream righties are just tired of hearing about Palin all the time (some of it brought on by her and some brought on by crazed lefties who can't leave her alone). While I think the left has given her a rough time, I do wish she'd slowly fade out of the spotlight.

Is he a REAL clown or is he just a guy wearing a clown suit?

"I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I don't know the guy, but for a living he is a clown,'' the senator said.

"That's what he does for a living.''

I wonder if he knows how disrespectful he is being to every comedian on the planet with this statement.

You are going to hear a lot of Inhofe jokes for years to come. He didn't offend Al, he offended an entire occupation.

#52 | Posted by Manypaths

Only when the comedienne pretends to be a senator.

But what the hey--look at the guy who is pretending to be POTUS!!

"But what the hey--look at the guy who is pretending to be POTUS!!"

Pretending?? Last I checked he was elected and inaugurated. I guess you still can't accept the fact that your guy lost.

"The guy pretending to be POTUS..."

The tradition of pretending began Jan., 2001. It's possible Obama will eventually prove to be Dean Martin, but I'm afraid that makes Bush Jerry Lewis.

Meh, name calling, the first refuge of the intellectually weak...par for the course for the incredible shrinking republicans.

'Clown from Minnesota'

Nobody had to ask who Inhofe was talking about. When the Democratic party started stealing elections to put failed radio talk show hosts in the Senate all Democrats became clowns.

Now, now, Zulu---We had to steal the Senate seat to prevent you guys from stealing it. But since we're talking clowns---Governor of South Carolina---Laughing yet?

We've had a B-movie actor as president. Minnesota elected a former wrestler as governor, California elected the Terminator, and Congress has included Sonny Bono and Gopher from the Love Boat. The slams against Franken for being a comedian are cheap. Entertainers who can communicate well can be effective politicians.

That clown from Oklahoma has no idea who Al Franken is these days. He was a serious policy wonk on his Air America radio show and was serious on the campaign trail running for the Senate. For years before that he made USO trips overseas, winning a lot of friends among conservatives and Republicans for his commitment to the troops.

Franken can be funny, but no one is going to see him in the Senate and think he's a clown. Minnesota wouldn't have elected him if it was all a big joke for a late-night comedian.

Meh, name calling, the first refuge of the intellectually weak...par for the course for the incredible shrinking republicans.

Let me know when the leader of the Senate calls Obama a loser at a grade school. As well as the Majority WHIP comparing him to the "Brownshirts." Or if the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee calls the Pres. another Bull Conner. Kennedy, Gore Clinton, Pelosi, Murtha... Yeah those Dems hands are real clean.

That's really funny, but I don't know about Bush being Jerry Lewis.

He would've been more popular in France.

I didn't know Franken had graduated with honors from Harvard. I'm always amazed when someone puts that degree to work in entertainment. I know a guy who went from Harvard to writing for television. His dad wasn't pleased, from what he said, but the guy's now producing some huge hit shows.

If I had gone to Harvard, I would have used my vast power and influence to control man.

Try to include the whole post next time, ChrissyDrama!

"Of course you never called the 2000 election stolen all these years."

I called it stolen, but most democrats on this site shy away from that term. They may argue that the election was wrongly decided at the level of the SCOTUS (that's not my argument. I think they decided properly), but they won't even begin to countenance the things that made the election stealable/stolen.

Most will blame Nader rather than say the election was stolen.

" But his MBA is from Harvard."

Yup.

Obama's undergrad degree was at Columbia IIRC.

"George43 was a Yalie."

Last I checked he still is.

I called it stolen, but most democrats on this site shy away from that term.

At least you are honest. But I disagree and claim most of the dems here either posted or believed it was stolen.

You don't know how happy I would be for you to be right on this point, but I've been here on and off for 6 years waiting for that day to come.

Most think Nader and the SCOTUS are the reason for the 2000 election results. And of all the reasons those results were what they were, Nader and the SCOTUS are way down on the bottom of the list of guilty parties.

Serious policy wonk. Take from group 'A' and give to group 'B'. Make sure group 'A' outnumbers group 'B'.

Clearly you didn't listen to his show. (No knock on you -- a lot of people didn't.) Franken brought on public policy analysts and government officials and asked wonky questions about legislative programs. It was the kind of stuff people say they want the media to do, but whenever someone actually does it, they get bored.

'Clearly you didn't listen to his show.'

Really? I made a point to listen, AM out of Denver. The failed radio talk show host came on at noon before he realized nobody would actually pay him to bleat.

'It was the kind of stuff people say they want the media to do, but whenever someone actually does it, they get bored.'

Clearly you didn't listen to Dobbs, or Hannity, or Hewitt or NPR.

Ummm, the election was thieved. But the clown is an eventual byproduct of win at any cost Democrat tactics.

You can call him a 'Serious policy wonk' if that makes you feel better, but when anyone uses the term 'clown of the senate' there is no confusion as to who that term applies to.

Too bad for the Party of Fail losers that this 'clown' will have far more actual power and respect that the entire pack of hyenas that call themselves Republican will have in the next 50 years.

It will be at least that long until the Rtard idiots have a majority anywhere outside of a KKKlan meeting or gay bath house.

Trust me -- this clown will get zero respect if he behaves in the Senate as he does in real life. That's not to say he won't change his style, but he's set a stage that will be hard to exit.

#90 | Posted by rcade

Are you referring to his wife?

'I hope his Mexican gardener pees in his pool.'

But Dobbs is a legitimate 'Serious policy wonk'.

You wrote:

'It (complex analysis of the issues) was the kind of stuff people say they want the media to do, but whenever someone actually does it, they get bored.'

No. Frankin had a campy sarcastic interview style that resulted in few listeners. No revenue, no paycheck.

Frankin failed a radio talk show host.

Hewitt, Dobbs and Hannity somehow manage to retain large audiences discussing political issues in detail with guests and the audience doesn't get 'bored' and leave.

So you are simply wrong. Dobbs wants U.S. immigration law enforced, is a moderate, and a champion of the middle class who have suffer financial devastation due to the presence of illegal aliens who have undercut so many people who perform manual labor.

And your response is the hope that someone pees in his pool?

Why not just man up and admit Frankin flopped because Frankin is a clown and nobody wants to listen to a clown on the radio?

Inhofe,

Global warming denier that ran Quaker Life Insurance Company into the ground.

Clowns are OK with me, its bible thumping idiots like Inhofe that are hard to take. But if you a long tenured Senator froma State like Oklahoma what else should you expect.

Bought & Paid For Corporate Whore!!!

Would Sen Inhofe mind if Franken rightly called him "a bought & paid for corporate whore from Oklahoma"???

'Would Sen Inhofe mind if Franken rightly called him "a bought & paid for corporate whore from Oklahoma"???'

Not if Franken wore his red nose and those big shoes.

Q: What's the worst part about being Al Franken?
A: Getting the kids blood out of his clown uniform after a birthday party.

People will whine like bitches about Franken and is past as an actor/comedian but these same douche-nozzles hold Ronald Reagan in the highest regards for some reason.

Such nastiness

Zulu,

The Senator from Oklahoma rightly does his job...he represents the state of Oklahoma. I for one am PROUD to call him my senator and look forward to returning him to office.
