The story on Yahoo talks about the "emotional" meeting where in current political fashion, the worst cases imaginable are trotted out and introduced as emblematic of our "flawed" system which needs nationalization to work.

Of course what is never mentioned, are the horror stories of both the Canadian and British system, where people wait months for the tightly rationed health care, face incredible bureaucratic struggles for even the most mundane services, and by all accounts, get much poorer care all together than we have here in the US.

And the real ruse of this, is that Obama, the most skilled prevaricator ever elected, is saying that his plan is really just an option, and not really a nationalization. That's the argument to forestall that any sensible person would have to socialized medicine.

There are actual changes that congress could easily make to improve our system, such allowing small businesses to form associations across state lines to self insure. A move that would make health care immediately more affordable for many Americans. The reason Obama doesn't push it.. it doesn't give him control over it.

Man, hurry up 2012..
