According the a few accounts, she wasn't involved in any torture. Her boyfriend, one of the guards at Abu Ghraib enjoyed taking pictures of her and posed her in those pictures. The picture where she is holding a leash was taken by said boyfriend. According to her own account, it was in her hands for 30 seconds while he posed her. It wasn't even a leash. It was a cargo strap that he'd use to pull the prisoner out of his cell.

You folks continue to do nothing but perpetuate half truths that allow the people that were really responsible for the abuses at Abu Grhaib to get away free of prosecution. The media made her the face of torture, and the general public allowed it to happen by not refusing for the investigations to go deeper.

Congratulate yourselves. You're why there is no accountability at any level of government.

On a different note, there was an interview on NPR's This American Life with her this past weekend. It's apparent that she's not very bright and got caught up in something much bigger than her that she may not have the faculties to understand.

I'm proof that's untrue. I enlisted. Started out as a seaman (Navy equivalent of a private) I have a damn good job today. I love what I do and I am compensated fairly.

One of my best friends in the Navy started out as I did. He used his GI bill to get a degree in marketing and is now regional VP for a machining company in Cleveland.

Can tell more success stories as well of people who enlisted, but you get the message.

I hardly think that the higher ups either ordered or knew about what was going on. I am certain that they were ordered to use enhanced techniques but I hardly think that the order included telling them to stack naked prisoners in a pyramid etc.

This was a case of poor leadership yes, but it was those guards who took it upon themselves to make it into a fraternity styled hazing event.

Unless things have really changed since I was in the military a Private has NO authority to make ANY decisions to make anything into ANYTHING. You are told what to do and you do what you are told.

Therefore there is no way she should have been held accountable for things she was told to do by her superiors. It was NOT her job to make the rules. It was her job to follow orders.

Again. We AS A NATION, especially when we wage WAR, have a responsibility to our children when we place them in these situations to make sure they know EXACTLY what their orders are and what we expect from them. It was a prison with humans.

Prisons are NOT Frat Houses.

The rules should have been absolute. When you are responsible for the lives of humans the orders should be very clear. The procedures should be well documented. There should be NO deviation from the procedures without documentation. There was NO leadership making sure that these things could not possibly happen. Why was that? Because they WANTED it to happen.
