BEWARE THE OBAMA 'EVIL EYE'
Tue Jun 30 2009 07:43:56 ET

As the summer begins, White House watchers have spotted a new look by President Obama: The Evil Eye!

Staffers have joked about the menacing glance, which comes when the president meets with world leaders who are not aligned with his progressive view.

White House photographers have captured the "evil eye" in recent weeks, during sessions with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Colombia's Alvaro Uribev.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi got hit with the commander's malocchio last week in the Oval office.

And at least one White House reporter has been on the receiving end of the daggers during a press conference.

here is a good line about that situation from the thread that libs are avoiding because it "stinks' 0f a bush success story

iraq has a chance to be the country that all of the iranians are giving thier lives to become..

Sometimes I amaze myself

"iraq has a chance to be the country that all of the iranians are giving thier lives to become.."

Yeah, they are singing "bomb, bomb, bomb, please bomb Iran."
Even you aren't really dumb enough to believe Iranians want to have their country destroyed as Iraq was, to have MILLIONS OF REFUGEES, One Million dead.....a person would have to be a lunatic to think anyone would want that.

stinks' 0f a bush success story

Stinks would a correct term. Success...eh not unless you are counting the billions paid to his buddies to execute the plan.

RCade,

Not sure if it's a bug, but I went through my user blog to find something I had posted to check for responses, and on my user page dated 6/29 (page following the first "read more" link), it had all older posts from 6/28 on down. Between my current page, and that one dated 6/29, there are a bunch of posts missing.

A hidden pickle?

Most likely a self proclaimed man a gaawwd.

Just a thought on ways to boost commerce during a recession, but if China and Taiwan hate each other and make a deal like this, why not think about the same with Cuba? Fidel is a veg anyway these days:

BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan authority opened up the island to Chinese mainland investment Tuesday with 100 categories of manufacturing, service and infrastructure sectors in the initial opening-up list.
The move marks a historic breakthrough of decades-long hopes for two-way investments across the Taiwan Straits.
Under two new regulations in effect Tuesday, mainland individuals, companies and institutions can set up branch offices, wholly-owned or joint-venture companies on the island.
They have to get approval from Taiwan economic affairs authority in advance, according to the regulations.
Investment from firms based outside the Chinese mainland, in which mainland ownership is more than 30 percent, will also be regarded as mainland investment in Taiwan, the regulations said.

HOLY SHIT someone just informed me Michiel Jackson is DEAD. I guess I was busy watching all the liberal media with the damn 24/7 coverage of the CAP AND TRADE BILL. LOL LOL

Yes. The considerate Poster will realize that a true gem of a post will be forwarded to the funny, newsworthy of dump sections of this paradise known as the DR.

James Taylor/Warren Beatty?

carly simon/mick jagger?

Don't know enough about her to guess who exactly, but the only way for the song to make grammatical sense is to be about two people or else the person really isn't that vain because the song IS about them.

surely it wasn't my imagination...

Happy-face media reporting of economic news is providing the usual upbeat spin on Friday's debt-deflation statistics. The Commerce Department's National Income and Product Accounts (NIPA) for May show that U.S. "savings" are now absorbing 6.9% of income.

Each business recovery since World War II has started with a higher debt ratio. Saving is indeed interfering with consumption, but it is not the result of rising incomes and prosperity. A rising savings rate merely reflects the degree to which the economy is working off its debt overhead. It is "saving" in the form of debt repayment in a shrinking economy. The result is financial dystopia, not the technological utopia that seemed so attainable back in 1945, just sixty-five years ago. Instead of a consumer-friendly leisure economy, we have debt peonage.

To get an idea of how oppressive the debt burden really is, I should note that the 6.9% savings rate does not even reflect the 16% of the economy that the NIPA report for interest payments to carry this debt, or the penalty fees that now yield as much profit as interest to credit-card companies or the trillions of dollars of government bailouts to try and keep this unsustainable system afloat. How an economy can hope to compete in global markets as an industrial producer with so high a financial overhead factored into the cost of living and doing business is another story.

Excerpted from Michael Hudson @ Counterpunch

During the Great Depression everyone in a position of power generated happy face reports. It was only considered the country's lowpoint after the fact.

Wait until we find out AmericanUnity emailed him those lyrics...

he Supreme Court on Monday declined to stop a school district from blocking a group of Christian students from forming a Bible club on campus.

The court refused to hear an appeal from the high school students who wanted to form the Truth Bible Club at Kentridge High School in Washington state in 2001.

The school refused to let the group be chartered as a school club. They cited the group's name, the fact that students would have to pledge to Jesus Christ to vote in the club and that allowing the club in would bring religion into the school. The club's would-be founders then sued the Kent School District, claiming discrimination.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the district did not violate the students' First Amendment rights by requiring them to allow all students full membership in their club.

In all actuality, my good friend Carley wrote those lyrics about...me! That's right, the mystery has been solved. The cat let out of the bag, so it were.

You see, back in the early 70's, after Phil Spector and I remastered "Let It Be" at John Lennon's request, I took a little "R&R" on Martha's Vineyard at the Kennedy-Onasis estate. Jackie was kind enough to give me run of the place. I befriended the family at a benefit concert when I was working with Sly Stone, but I degress.

While on the island, I started playing in the local pub, when who should walk in but, Sweet Baby himself! After listening to me cover his songs (he was delighted with my rendition of "Steamroller") James invited me back to his home he shared with Carley.

Well, an evening stretched in to a fortnight. I became rather enchanted with...well...cocaine. We went on various drug filled adventures. While this was going on, I noticed Carley scribbling furiously in a notebook.

When we ran into Mick Jagger at the horse races in Saratoga, I was coming off a bender. Needless to say, I was in a foul mood. I told Mick that if he ever needed a song to pull the Stones out of the rut they were in, I would oblige. He then called me a "vain cunt"! I then challenged him to a duel, but fortunately the horse I wagered on won the race!

During the celebration all hostilities were forgotten. Needless to say, I was shocked and, well, flattered(!) when a few months later I heard MY song.

There you have it!

The following was "written" by Kanrei

Lifted from Carley Simon.

Now, quit sniveling.

Or every man be blind --

Truth hurts

There are 16 million shades of grey
There is no black
There is no white
You have to draw your own line
It may or may not be straight
There are always mitigating circumstances
Judgement can only be based
On passed-down wisdom and self-experience
Stopping to take stock
Is not an option
You can never find yourself
You can only conform or differ
From each perceived image
The cataracts of common sense
Can never be removed
Focusing on reality's a fallacy

To be, or not to be--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep--
No more--and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep--
To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
Th' oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of th' unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprise of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action. -- Soft you now,

Well done.

Obama is self-congratulatory regarding the disposition of American troops in Iraq, but doesn't possess sufficient integrity to note that he and other Democrats strove to engineer an early pull-out because "all was lost."

Obama should give a public apology to Bush, acknowledging that Bush's foresight and perserverance made the current situation in Iraq possible, and that one of the obstacles overcome was the Democrats who opposed continuation of the war, and wanted to turn tail and run.

And how about that lowlife Murtha, who made false allegations against troops in the field. What's hapened with him. He is a "go to" guy to get earmarks regardless of whether you're connected to his district or not. Where's the investigation of corruption?

When does anyone think that the Obama equivalent of the Nazi SA will be formed? When will thugs under Obama do "chores" in behalf of his regime. Well, ACORN is a start, but Obama has promised a civilian militia, hasn't he?

The Michael Jackson Memorial insanity has begun

The entire road in front of his Neverland Ranch is packed wall to wall with satellite trucks, there's suppose to be a 12 hour "viewing" of MJ this week (who will be driven there on Thursday with the memorial on Friday or Saturday) and already the streets are packed with people -- some crying "Oh, Michael, Michael how can we go on living." (I'm repeating all this from our local talk radio station lol)

I heard on the radio MJ weighed 67 pounds at his death. Is that possible?

First he had a Will, then no one could find a Will, then I heard it was only a "draft" of a Will -- still unsigned -- so it's invalid.

stay tuned

Carlin is an economist , not a scientist. Kinda like Joe the Plumber trying to be an economist. He had his own agenda, which was unsolited by the EPA to start with. But he, just like Joe, is getting his face time in with Fox. Maybe he be Fox's new climate analyist.
