A top supervisory body reviewing Iran's disputed June 12 election formally dismissed all opposition complaints of fraud Monday and affirmed a landslide victory for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, setting off shouts of protest from Tehran's rooftops but leaving opponents with few options amid an intensifying government crackdown.

Alas, most americans know shit about iran-- you'd think that would change, but the attention span just isn't there.

Some points to consider:

1. Mousavi is not the reformer the majority of the west thinks he is.

2. The strongest tug-of-war of power in Iran is not between the youth and the aged, religious and the secular, but rather with the economic reformists and corrupt secular business interests. Sound familiar?

3. What is appening in Iran is an ongoing economic war between those who seek to reform and those who seek to keep the corruptable status quo.

4. Look at who controls Mousavi-- follow the money-- it comes from a man who effectively controls the Iranian youth through a privately funded university system-- his name is Ali Akbar Rafsanjani and he is a cut throat businessman/politician plain and simple (don't let the turban fool you), and he is using the natural fire of youth to keep him and other interests like him in a powerful position in Iran-- he has engaged western elements to help him. He wants to nail the man who kept him from re-asserting his claim to power in 2005, reformist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

this information is out there so it doesn't take some sherlock with a super magnifying glass to find it-- it helps to have a person who can translate farsi however. most iranian news that comes to america is filtered through pro-israeli mouthpieces anyway.

And you expected something different?

Sound familiar?

Yep. It's called human nature.

Katherine al-harris delivered the message.

If the economic reformists win, they will soon become the corrupt secular business interests.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

True, some things are the same everywhere.

The interesting thing is that we live in an anarchist/atheist planet but we use religion and political games to each power more often than all out war. The only thing really stopping all out bloodshed is the slim likelihood of winning compared to the likely cost. But if the chance of winning were great enough you would find even those that hold so dear to peace would spill blood to achieve their ends. Of course, telling you the whole time that the ends justifies the means.

None of our leaders can or do live up these ideals that they have sold to their followers.

So follow men if you like but it will only lead you into servitude but with a smile and coke.

The election is over and it is certified.
It was fair - I hope the protestors get
over themselves.

Now Barack can negotiate with Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad has the respect of the vast
majority of Iranians, as well as the Supreme
Leader.

Shame on Mousavi for trying to steal the election,
and for killing that patsy - Neda (did he think
we could not SEE through that ruse? LOL.

Be Well.

"Hmm...People dying in Ira..AMERICAN IDOL?!?!?! WTFOMGBBQ MICHAEL JACKSON DIED???!? SPORTS!!!!!!!!"

Looking around, I wouldn't have expected the attention span to be there in the first place.

...follow the money...

We don't even scrutinize our own people that closely, let alone politicians from halfway around the world. If we did, everyone would be up in arms - complete with pitchforks and torches - knocking down the doors at the Federal Reserve.

most iranian news that comes to america is filtered through pro-israeli mouthpieces anyway.

So, Mousavi would be keeping the mullahs and other religious fundos in place? I guess that issue is tangential, if the money, resources, and willingness to play ball with Western business interests are all there.

Our media is so full of shit, I am skeptical of everything those dupes print. Easily led around by the nose - a big heaping pile of fearmongering, a healthy dash of saber-rattling, and some soaring jingoistic rhetoric inspired by God is all it takes to get them going. They blare it 24/7 and TVAmerica swallows it whole.

The "guardian council?" Wasn't that on planet Krypton?

Gaurdian Council:

Guarding what?

Gaurding the fixed votes. Gaurding an outdated
male ruled theocratic system of government.

Gaurding a system that--despite Western
and World pressures--remains wholeheartedly,
18th Century, denying women any rights
whatsoever.

Sad. This what too much
fundamentalist religion does to a nation.

Zealots who are in the wrong, who know they
are in the wrong, yet feel rigteous about
what they do, even as some among them feel
that God has sanctioned their behavior.

Too much fanatical religion on the brain.

Check back again in 50 more years, maybe
they will have made some progress by then.

Oh yeah, I'm talking about Iran
(and not America this time)

Cheap shot to kick a guy who isn't even around anymore.

Where is Larry?

I think he learned a lot on this blog and went elsewhere.

Seriously, where and when did Larry go....and why?

He taught me a lot about sex changes....oh crap, did I just put that in writing?
