Yea But
~B,bob

Yes, zap, it's going to be interesting to see how da bOoB incorporates these tapes into his conspiracy. It'll be an event not to be missed to be sure.

Your answer is in the first comment under the story:

Are NASA really to have us believe that they lost these tapes?
A mission costing billions of US tax payers money and they couldn't even have the procedures in place to make sure that mission footage was stored safely and easily recoverable???
It seems more likely to me that it has taken 40 years to get to the point where they have the technology to sanitize these films using CGI!
Never A Straight Answer!

LOL!

I didn't read the comments. That's funny. Thanks for pointing it out.

Now we know what to expect from the conspiracy crowd.

Let me guess... they show a big fucking smokestack in the process of being remodeled to support "Klean Kryptonite" technology...

Before da bOoB was denied Apollo XI, he believed in it (truth) and said that there was an alien spacecraft hidden in a crater and part of it could be seen in the one of the blurry photos. Maybe we can get a better look at these aliens now that we have better tapes.

Cool!

I'd like to some better footage finally then that grainy stuff we've all come to know.

Strange thing though, I saw this was some UK website and I wanted to see if the US news sites have picked up on this and when I entered "NASA finds lost footage", there wasn't one site that I recognized as credible.

The only thing resembling mainstream media was this article from 2007: ,(and it wasn't even on the first page of results)

www.washingtonpost.com

from the article

Ecstatic space officials at Nasa could be about to unveil one of their most stunning discoveries for 40 years new and amazingly clear footage of the first moon landing.

BuffaloBob?

Waiting on you.

It is only clear because they kept the set and re-shot it using a High-Def Camera, duh!

How was that?

BuffaloBob?

Waiting on you.

You forgot -- I'm on the dreaded list as a persona non grata. He won't respond on this thread.

If I have to be "Goatman by proxy" again in order to relay posts between you and BuffaloBob, I'm sending you a bill for my services!

BuffaloBob - Will you declare a temporary "time out" from your persona non grata list for Goatman so you can address this newsworthy event?

BBob?

Deflection alert!

Now that you have that deflection out of your system, care to get back on track and address your little jewels of a post? LOL

Don't let da bOoB fool you. He still addresses me. He just does it in third person instead of second

He'd better not. I take pride being on that list.

Better than a "smart and celibate cu."..um, that word.

Goatman is a stupid fucking cunt.

Tsk, tsk. We all know what it means when you devolve to namecalling, m8

My condolencses, m8. Better luck next time. LOL

Fuck no. Of course BBob shouldn't respond. Goatman is a stupid fucking cunt. When he maybe has something, anything, intelligent to say perhaps he'll merit a response.

Ooooooo, Moder8, you said the dreaded "c" word.

Whhaaaaaaa, Rcade.

(No, I didn't flag it. lol I don't flag stuff.)

Something intelligent like this maybe?

Now you've gone and blown any chance BBob will show up on your thread.

Buffalopride

I'm a little hurt to be 1st runner up.

14 of 23 posts referencing BuffaloBob (w/o him even being here) and me not getting the joke.

What did I miss?

I had to ask the same thing about car antennas only a few months back. I got tired of reading about 'car antennas' for over a year and asking myself 'wtf are they talking about'. I finally got the explanation and quickly wished I hadn't. Will it be the same with this thread and something about the moon?

Yes.

BoOb has multiple "Moon Based Conspiracies" up to and including Smokestacks on the moon.

Also, he denies that man has ever been there.

I am so going to regret asking this....

Then who does he think built them?

Were the built by the Conservatives he says lost the Civil War?

COMMONSENSE

Here you go. There have been dozens of "Smokestack" threads.

This one is from December 2008 our buddy Bob put up.

"NEW SMOKESTACK ON THE MOON THREAD" - by BuffaloBob

Then who does he think built them?

Although he hasn't brought it up in a while, da bOoB also believes (from a youtube.com video of course) that there is a derelict 2 billion (yes, that's with a 'b') old spaceship near the smokestack. Presumably they ran the shuttle service for the lunar miners.

The entire landscape is cheese! And global warming is real!

This is easily explained.

The studios in which they filmed the original landings have been cleaned and spruced up to original working order and the videos were shot again. Notice you never see the astronaut's face? That's because they aren't Armstrong and Aldrin this time.

Duh.

Nasa is probably saying Thank God for "PhotoShop" as it smugly releases its "disputed" moon landing videos which now really look "real" with all the shadows and landscape "adjusted" with hi-tek graphics to look just like an actual, honest to goodness moon landing!!!

I have a headache and am now dumber for having read that thread all the way through.

I still laugh when I see that name. It is hands down the best play on jeffy's handle yet -- and a strong contender for
the best on anyone's handle on the DR.

Commonsense, that was a good point that none of the major internet sites have picked up on this.

Good thread Goatman, but unfortunately no proof imaginable would scare of the conspiracy nutcases.

LRO Enters Orbit Around the Moon

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has successfully entered orbit around the moon following a nearly five-day journey. Engineers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., confirmed the spacecraft's lunar orbit insertion at 6:27 a.m. EDT on June 23.

---

The LRO satellite will explore the moon's deepest craters, examining permanently sunlit and shadowed regions, and provide understanding of the effects of lunar radiation on humans. LRO will return more data about the moon than any previous mission. The spacecraft's instruments will help scientists compile high resolution, three-dimensional maps of the lunar surface and also survey it at many spectral wavelengths.

www.nasa.gov

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC)

The LROC investigation is led by Principal Investigator Mark Robinson of Arizona State University. Malin Space Science Systems designed and built the instruments. LROC will be operated from facilities at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. The LROC Science Team includes participants from Brown University, Washington University, and the University of Arizona.

LROC consists of two narrow angle cameras and a wide angle camera. The two narrow angle cameras will provide extreme closeup images of the lunar surface with a spatial resolution of 0.5 meters (1.6 ft) per pixel over a swath that is 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) wide. The narrow angle cameras will help identify landing sites for new spacecraft to be sent to the Moon, and will have sufficient resolution to see the Apollo, Surveyor, and Luna hardware left there in the 1960s and 1970s.

Though we can always count on Ted to transport this find into the Bizarro Universe:

More Apollo 11 Tapes
Found By NASA
From Ted Twietmeyer
6-30-9

NASA claims they found the Apollo 11 lost tape. But what did they find and just what is it? The evidence I've accumulated on Apollo footage since December 2007 appears to show otherwise. In my 2007 essay www.rense.com there are men in military uniforms were helping NASA during a rehearsal. But as we shall see, the recent release of a lost videotape by NASA proves this exact same rehearsal footage is being claimed as real by NASA.

To make matters worse, NASA's claim is further shot down by the tapes found at a closed McDonalds at Moffet air field.

---

There are so many errors in all these images it's difficult to believe that all these photos were taken on the Moon.

To clarify, I know for a fact what happened on the day Apollo 11 landed on the Moon. I have detailed this in another article. We did go to the Moon that day, but the world was not permitted to see what happened because of disk objects buzzing the landing site. This was witnessed by a close friend who was actually at mission control in a support role.

The bottom line here is that the ladder in the rehearsal videotape and the ladder in the recently released Apollo 11 video tape are the same. Yet the ladder in Fig. 8 is quite different, and does not show the added extension ladder like section.

The rest, and pics and vid here (no smokestacks though):

www.rense.com

I'm honestly not surprised NASA lost these tapes and then couldn't find them. There are some brillant guys working at NASA but there are also a lot of fuck-ups. Apparently it's hard to fire anyone who gets a job with NASA so the screw-ups stay on and continue to bring the quality of the program down. And the situation is only going to get worse.

In my graduating class of Aerospace Majors, a lot of us really wanted to work for NASA including myself (until I did a small student research project with them and realized how obnoxiously bureacratic the whole thing was). The problem was people applied for jobs and then didn't hear anything for months, so they took jobs in the private sector. Then a few weeks before graduation, NASA finally decided to do interviews but all the most talented people already had jobs. And they hired people whose resumes had the high points of 1) being in the marching band and 2) able to use multiple web browsers.

I've talked to a couple of the older guys at NASA who had ties with Ohio State and they talked about how frustrated they were with the quality of students their HR was bringing them.

The rest, and pics and vid here (no smokestacks though):

Well, duh. Do you think NASA would release those pictures? They are part of the conspiracy

I agree with the sentiment that it is incredible that the tapes to mankind's single greatest achievement were lost, but I'm sure not going to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon. As Astrobuckeye noted, even NASA has major fuck-ups. (hubble mis-ground primary, mismatched metric vs English measurements on the Mars lander come to mind)

soooooooooooo, we really DID go to the moon?

*;]

we really DID go to the moon?

#48 | Posted by nanc

Well, we're pretty sure Alice did using the Kramden launch system back in the 50s.

Of course the Moon has smokestacks. Where do you think they make all that cheese?

On Earth?

Yeah, right.

And they call it Moon Cheese because....?

Have they found the Pentagon tapes that were taken private owners?

Nope. Destroyed in Building 7.

It took forty years for CGI to progress to the point where this "extra footage" could be generated.

Count me unimpressed. Bigfoot too. I spoke to him and he thinks you all are very stupid sheep.

Sincerly,

F'indouchemark

Not to support Bob, but how the hell does NASA "almost immediately lose" film of the most important event in its history? For forty years?
Seriously?

Not one post from BuffaloBob on here?

Hmmm.

SPUD DIDS IT.

Not to support Bob, but how the hell does NASA "almost immediately lose" film of the most important event in its history?

Good question. How could the mis-grind the primary mirror on the HST and not catch it after three laser precision checks and it was in space? How could they confuse metric and English measurements on the Mars probe?

Incompetence is the only word that comes to mind.

How does NASA design, build, and launch a rover using the conflicting units?

And I'm sure they weren't immediately lost. They got archived somewhere and nobody recorded where they were archived... then whoops can't find them.

I think BoOb has at least two user names it seems suspicious to me his senority is 57. Hmmmm who would have been around then. Anyway glad to have made the list Thanks BBob...

Most people with seniority numbers under a hundred have been around even longer than the dates indicate. Originally you didn't have to register. BB has been here for a long time.

I was and BB has several other user names.

The greatest Engineering feat in the history of mankind. Only America could do it.

When are we going to get our mojo back? Not until we send paper shufflers back into the basement.

Nutcase

You've been around for awhile, but it's only been lately that I've read a number of your posts. You really are one of the most underrated posters on here. You can cut to the quik of a subject and explain it simply and well. I first noticed your posts during the economic meltdown we went through last Fall. Your analysis of a number of different problems with our economy at that time were well worth reading and helped clarify a number of things for me. Just thought I'd mention it.

A smokestack in the moon sounds like Barney Frank's fantasy.

There is nothing new here. The best post was by Zot, which was ignored of course.

So they found the lost video--the question should be--why wasn't it broadcast in the clear in the first place? Why was it broadcast so blurry? They had great shots of the astronauts in the spacecraft, and great stills on the moon--but why was the most dramatic moment--the most historical moment broadcast so blurry? Zots links goes over this.

why wasn't it broadcast in the clear in the first place? Why was it broadcast so blurry

That was explained in the article, bOoB -- you should try reading it.

"From there, the raw images were downsized to American television resolutions by a special scanner in Sydney, heavily compressed so they could be transmitted live, and then relayed to the US via the Intelsat III satellite."

thanks cc,

i enjoyed your humanizing of michael jackson as well

yup - i knew it - bb is distraught.

Still, no one addresses Zots post. It doesn't make sense that they could send clear color video on the way, yet could only send blurry black and white for the landing.

It doesn't make sense ...

...that someone would claim that the moon landings were faked when there were dozens of earth stations tracking the Apollo transmissions from the moon.

A microwave dish receiving that low of power has to be precisely aimed. And guess where they were aimed? Sea of Tranquility!

Sorry, bOoB. I know you hate it when irrefutable facts are thrown your way. But I just had to do it. LOL

I'm glad you at least admit the lost video is real and not some fake. If you hadn't at least acknowledged there IS a lost video, then you wouldn't have had as much credibiility. And you have a right to question the blurriness, etc. We need and appreciate those people like you who make us look at both sides of an issue -- and continue to do so no matter how much riducule they have to take.

And you, BuffaloBob, will go down in DR history for all the fun you brought us with all your "Smokestacks on the Moon" threads. Jokes aside, I personally learned so much from reading the Smokestack threads -- about the Moon's lunar surface, outer space, etc. they were worth every minute of it.

i enjoyed your humanizing of michael jackson as well

Hopefully you are speaking purely "tongue in cheek" when referencing my commentaries on the upcoming MJ Memorial circus as "humanizing." lol

It becomes more insane by the day as Los Angeles local talk radio shock jocks (never known for their reverence on anything) are really going to town with their descriptions. As of today, their reports say MJ's body is now reported to be carried to Neverland Ranch past the ever growing crowd of mourners in an open gold coffin carried in a see-through gold chariot -- yes, a gold chariot -- like the one used in the Disneyland parades. And y'all thought "smokestacks on the Moon" was crazy?

And please don't think I'm following the MJ memorial scene by scene and hanging on every word about it. Just so happens my radio is usually on as I sit next to my computer so I pick up these crazy tidbits from our local radio shock jocks and pass them on.
