Caracas, Venezuela - The text message that beeped on my cell phone this morning read "Alert, Zelaya has been kidnapped, coup d'etat underway in Honduras, spread the word." It's a rude awakening for a Sunday morning, especially for the millions of Hondurans that were preparing to exercise their sacred right to vote today for the first time on a consultative referendum concerning the future convening of a constitutional assembly to reform the constitution. Supposedly at the center of the controversary is today's scheduled referendum, which is not a binding vote but merely an opinion poll to determine whether or not a majority of Hondurans desire to eventually enter into a process to modify their constitution.

Just Conservatives keeping order the best they know how.

Good article, Jeff. Doesn't have anything to do with Obama, however. Yes, his response is gutless centrism, but that doesn't justify the stupid headline.

Apparently, coup leader Vasques and other military leaders graduated from the School of the Americas.

"Yes, his response is gutless centrism, but that doesn't justify the stupid headline."

What the hell is he supposed to say???
I swear, he gets attacked from both sides, some want him to do miracles and the rest accuse him of being a socialist. The poor guy is just trying to be a responsible president.
I do hope though that enough diplomatic pressure can be applied to force the reinstatement of the legal president of Honduras.

"What the hell is he supposed to say???"

It's not about what he says. It's about what he does. We'll see.

It's about what he does. We'll see.

He, like the rest of the world, has demanded the President be returned to office. What do you want, an invasion?

None of our business.

Your love of Democrats regardless is only matched to your hate of Republicans regardless. Boggles the mind. You give extremism a new definition.

Oh, and the "legal" president tried to "illegally" change the constitution so he could become supreme leader. Something our own "Dear Leader" can only dream about at this point.

What BS. There was no military coup. The military was following the instructions of their legislature and their Supreme Court, and El Presidente tried to usurp control over the armed forces by removing their head. There was a legal succession and the Vice President not the military is in charge.

Nevertheless, Obama, who does not want to intervene in and did not want to comment on Iran, where protestors are being gunned down in the streests and threatened with execution, interposes himself in Hondurals aligning himself with the leftist leaders of Venezuela and Bolivia.

Obama never found an anti-American he would not support and to whom he would not apologize in behalf of America. Birds of a feather stick together, and Obama being himself a leftist scum with totalitarian ambitions, grievances against whites, and considering himself a leveler, will ally himself with those of like mind worldwide.

I heard an interview of the author of the leftist book of grievances that the Venezuelan Chavez handed to Obama, and which went way up in sales after Obama accepted it. He was interviewd for two hours, and his thesis is class conflict without any overview of the consequences of installing the peasants in control. He supports leftist violence but opposes violence against leftists. After the leftists are installed, then what? Well, in Venezuela resources are dissipated, production declines, and eventually there will be less provender and so a lower standard of living for everyone. Right now, Chavez is obtaining support by seizing and distributing accumulated capital, but productivity is way down. Way to go Obama. You've found a kindred soul.

Johnson has a statue of Pinochet in his bed room.
He's one of those who supported the murder, torture, disappearing, etc. conducted by thugs in South America for their wealthy patrons who lived in splendor while the population starved.
Chavez is the direct result of the decades of greed and oppression of the peasants.
No fair, decent government has ever been overthrown by the left in South America.
This coup is just more of the same and will eventually provoke a real leftist takeover of Honduras.

Some Bush Lover will come along and bitch and moan that Obama is doing the same thing Bush did.

The irony, unnoticed.
