The Air Force has successfully launched an unarmed Minuteman 3 intercontinental ballistic missile from the California coast to an area in the Pacific Ocean some 4,200 miles away. Lt. Raymond Geoffroy says the ICBM was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 3:01 a.m. Monday and carried three unarmed re-entry vehicles to their targets near the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The missile, configured with a National Nuclear Security Administration Test Assembly, was launched under the direction of the 576th Flight Test Squadron.

We are showing Kim Jong Il how the pros do it.

I hope Kim III is watching, too.

yes - he's probabry feering a ritter bit scaled light about now!

We have nothing to gain by fucking with Korea.

The food sucks.

The culture sucks.

The women are ugly.

Not one U.S. soldier should be put in harms way.

How did this douche bag end up with Nukey-nukey?

The only benefit is potentially to Kathy Lee Gifford and her sneaker factory.

auntie - nk is headed to hawaii to fire a missile on july fourth...

Surprise!!! This has been going on since the middle 50s.

Obama is unstable

Kinda like the "for profit" war that someone else started?

Idiot.

Kinda like the "for profit" war that someone else started?

WHO said that?

WHO said that?

Indeed. The Iraq war has been a colossal waste of money and a humanitarian tragedy. If it was waged for profit, it has been managed about as well as AIG.

Sure. Neither The Bushling or any of his buddies made any money off of it.

All of these bitchy rightwingers would be patting themselves on the back and talking about how great their man in the WH is if a republican president had done this. Typical rightwing tripe.

It's sabre rattling... sure. Much needed sabre rattling. It's always a good idea to make sure your missiles work, and it's nice to demonstrate that you can drop multiple nuclear payloads anywhere in the world within 30 minutes. Mind you, these RV's are falling within one or two hundred meters of the target - whatever you want to hit is guranteed to get blasted with enough overpressure to destroy even the most hardened shelters.

Besides, if the US was going to attack NK, it wouldn't be with an ICBM. Cruise missiles or bombs delivered by stealth aircraft would do just as well, and they wouldn't scare the shit out of Russia or any other nuclear powers.

we need to just sink that ship - it is kimmy who declared war on u.s. when he disregarded the treaty. stop wasting ammunition!

Who said it was waged for OUR profit? Several contractors did very well from that war, at our expense.

Exactly.

Like I said... managed like AIG. The guys at the top make millions and wallow in the dollars while everyone else gets left holding the bag.

Overall, the war did not net the US anything. That doesn't mean contractors and the like can't profit. The net losses just get passed on to the average joe.

It just looks like a poor investment that a select few got filthy rich off of (in spite of the fact that it was a waste of money).

Oh, yeah, and that bit about over a hundred thousand noncombatants dying...

--please let the adults handle this one and why don't you stop wasting our precious Californian air.

nk is headed to hawaii

That's gotta be one hell of a big tug boat. If we could only drag sk up to the chinese border, nk would be screwed.

Ha! Good. we can play the same game as that crazy little chimp. Can't wait to see the tantrum....

We test missiles all the time. The "whole NK tested a missile" is just political posturing on both sides. Let them test fire all they want. The more they fire now the fewer they have when its for real.

Of course a war with NK would mean thousands of casualties on all sides - mostly to the Koreans but of course us as well. Glad to see that some folks are pushing for a war with a country that acutally has nukes and chemical weapons. Afterall, they are not the ones actually in any danger.

Would hate to think I wasted all the time studying Pashto when I should have been learing Korean.....

Oh, okay, it's the Air Force doing this.

I was afraid one of the gangs in Oakland had joined the nuclear club.

USA!!! USA!!! Whoops, this ain't the soccer thread

If they hit it, we know it wasn't Tora Bora.

What we should have tested were the Ballistic Missile Defense missiles, which are basically missiles that can shoot down enemy missiles. Take that NK.

Yep, "Privatize profits, socialize losses". The whole system is rigged for it and I doubt it can be changed at this point, no matter who's in power.

And the next won could be loaded with mega tons of some really nasty stuff aimed at Kim's house! LOL!

Kim stirred up the ants and bees again!

And just who would that be?

Anybody not in the GOP. We need to win this, something the GOP can't manage.

Pants-pissers!

There are better ways to deal with these things than threatening war all the time.

It was just a test. They occur throughout the year even when you aren't paying attention. Please Rethugs take a breath and let the adults handle this.

We got this one!

punditkitchen.com

The Air Force launched a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile early today, the second such test in recent weeks. The missiles' two unarmed warheads traveled about 4,200 miles in about 30 minutes, hitting targets at the Ronald Reagan Test Site on the Kwajalein Atoll in the western chain of the Marshall Islands. The launch was the third this year. The final, fourth, test of the year is scheduled to take place next week.

Obama is showing NK that he isn't the guy they saw on the campaign trail. He wants to stay in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, Afganistan, and he is rounding it out with a provacative missle test......maybe McCain wasn't so bad

i thought obama outlaws rocket use by the US

Obama is showing NK....

Obama isn't showing anyone anything with this test... it was a regularly scheduled test. And in case you haven't noticed Gitmo is still scheduled to close and US troops have left all Iraqi cities as of today. They are scheduled to be out by 2012. AS for Afghanistan, do I need to remind you why that war is not under control yet?

(here is a clue..Bush is an idiot)

You know what pisses me off. Where are all the crackheads spouting off with the "nuke north korea now!" rhetoric.

Iraq didn't even fucking attack us, but the wingnuts were all like "hur hur, turn the sand into glass, hur hur".

But fucking north korea practically shits in our face and now yall are like "give peace a chance". "Down with warmongering Obama". Only in america... srsly...

This is the closest we are conievably getting to the second coming of christ for awhile, and the righties got nothing... yeesh

Damn....you sure do change your line of bullshit often.

Why is that? Afraid that people will realize that you're full of shit if you stick with one lie for too long?

We need a name for this missile. I suggest the "Johnny Wadd" or some phonetic-friendly rendering of ICBM.

wow, who needs Comedy Central when all you have to do is come here and read along as the Chickenhawks and pseudo-Christians clamber all over themselves trying find a way to criticize a MISSILE TEST, and to Blame Obama(tm) for it.

The same psychos who got hard-ons (where anatomically feasible) when Bagdhad was lit up like a Christmas Tree under a hailstorm of missles and bombs.

Seriously, you people have some issues.

Not a bad suggestion, commonsense, but I favor more phallic names for weapons.
How about "Barney's Frank" suitable for insertion into trouble spots? A deep penetrating strategic weapon spewing gas in order to keep moving?
