Despite signs that the recession gripping the nation's economy may be easing, the unemployment rate is projected to continue rising for another year before topping out in double digits, a prospect that threatens to slow growth, increase poverty and further complicate the Obama administration's message of optimism about the economic outlook.

Analysts say the high levels of joblessness would be accompanied by increases in child poverty, strained government budgets, and black and Latino unemployment rates approaching 20 percent.

Why does Obama hate kids, blacks and Latinos, anyway?

Fiddle away, Barry. Fiddle away!

Wait until inflation hits. It will become an even bigger mess.

In the end Obama and the Dems will have done far more damage to the US then Bush and the Repubs.

is there a constitutional provision to exile ousted administrations??

Why is it conservatrives have such a problem with "then" and "than"? It must be a brain disorder.

My favorite was one time when Rob the A wrote something to the effect "I'd rather gouge my eyes out then vote for Obama."

Is it related to the brain disorder that causes someone to make up words like "conservatrives"?

That is good. I missed that one. Sometimes the typos are better than the intent.

He never said he would "create jobs"--only that he would "create or save 3 million jobs".

So as long as there are 3 million Americans still employed when this is all done, he can say he kept his word. And BuffaloRogueNullicanDoc Unity will be reminding the rest of us about his genius, his wisdom, and that he published a newspaper in college.

Oh, I forgot--this CapandTrade stuff is supposed to create 3 million new high-paying green jobs, at a cost of only $175 per American household. Do the math, and it works out to about $15,000 per job. But a few years into deflationary Obamanomics, that might be, in fact, a "high-paying job".

Gobama! Go libtards!

Thank you--thank you very much--that is our intention--enjoy the next 16 years of dem leadership. Hillary will follow Obama.

Nothing is funnier than someone who pretends to know what the political climate will be the next election, that the incumbent will perform in a manner worthy of re-election, the economy, whether the incumbent or other potential candidate (Hillary) will even be alive and healthy etc.

Well, except for idiots who pretend to know the same things 16 years into the future. LOL

"We'll create 5 million new, high-wage jobs by investing in the renewable sources of energy that will eliminate the oil we currently import from the Middle East in 10 years, and we'll create 2 million jobs by rebuilding our crumbling roads, schools, and bridges."

The only thing shovel-ready around here is the crap that spews forth from this administration and its blind mutant sycophant supporters.

maybe we will get lucky and cookie will be part of the 10%

The US Unemployment Rate January 1948 to May 2009

www.miseryindex.us

Lowest just before the Korean War armistice: 2.5%

Highest not long after the Reagan Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981: 10.8%

Everything the Democrats do saves money and creates jobs. Next they're going to pass a law requiring the health providers to cure cancer by 2012.

cookfish - they misunderestimated! ask biden.

Or they lied.

FDR meddled ferociously in the economy and greatly prolonged the recession. Unemployment, which was initially 9% shortly after the stock market crash of '29 moved down to a still-high 6-7% not long afterwards. Once FDR took the reigns unemployment soared upwards, never dipping below double digits until the war started - shipping millions of Americans overseas to fight, certainly helped the unemployment statistics as did a new, business-friendly set of policies to get the war-machine moving.

Jimmy Carter inherited a mess and tried to meddle as well - we were treated to stagflation. Then came Reagan, who through Volcker, took a tough and unpopular line, but within 2 years had inflation back under control.

Obama is taking over banks and auto companies. He's dictating salaries and seems to be moving toward dictating what products GM is allowed to produce. He signs a stimulus bill that had to be signed IMMEDIATELY, or disaster would ensue; but then much of the actual "stimulus" is delayed until 2010 - where's the so-called urgency? Now, he and his party are trying to pass cap-n-trade and may very well do it. This will further tear-up an already bad economy. His deficits and the ballooning of the national debt could very likely trigger a Carter-esque round of hyper-inflation. Obama, like Carter before him, is taking a bad, inherited situation and is poised to make it 10-times worse.

Hey Chimptard, you do realize that FDR didn't take office until 1933, by which time Hoover had run up the unemployment rate to 25%.

Hehehe, but my favorite is "should of".

Hehehe, but my favorite is "should of".

Misused reflexive pronouns drive me nuts.

Gov't doesn't create jobs... they either create an environment that encourages growth, or they create an environment where the growth goes somewhere else.

Obama and his ignorant policies will simply drive more business and jobs to foreign countries.

All of Obama's statements about job creation from the stimulus package and the "green" bullshit is true, if you keep in mind that the jobs will NOT be in this country. He will create millions of new jobs in Mexico and China and other 3rd world countries. Green policies will drive another million or 2 jobs away from our shore.

That's OK, if you think we need to lower the standards of the US and raise the rest of the world. I think that we should create more jobs here, and let the rest of the world follow suit.

As for the comments about "then and than"... why is it that liberals will attack a persons typing skills instead of defending and debating the arguments? Maybe cause even they KNOW how full of shit the positions taken by Obama and his ilk?

Gov't doesn't create jobs

It doesn't.I thought they were right up there with Walmart creating new jobs.

Czars for everything was a recent bitch

"Gov't doesn't create jobs"

The fact government exists means there are jobs the government needs done. Gov't doesn't create jobs is naive at best. The public/private ratio can fluctuate, (and it's headed for too high a % 'public'), but pretending the need for govt doesn't include the need for folks to operate the government is silly.

Perhaps that was misinterpreted. The gov't doesn't create private jobs (as the claim of creating 3 million jobs implied)... I guess that Obama could "Hire" the people on unemployment or welfare and transfer the entitlements from one agency to another... but that isn't really creating jobs.

What gov't does is create OVERHEAD that inhibits the market-driven creation of jobs. The higher the cost of creating a new job, the less likely that one will be created. We will never completely eliminate the need for gov't employees, so there will always be some overhead. However, this should be reduced to the minimum needed to meet the constitutional requirements, not inflated to the max that the constitution allows... (or inflated WAY past the limits set forth in the constitution, as has been the case for many years).

What we need in this country is an extreme cut in the overhead and a return to sound financial policies. Unfortunately, neither party will take such drastic action... and any other path will just cause a slight change of scenery on the road to hell.

"What we need in this country is an extreme cut in the overhead and a return to sound financial policies. Unfortunately, neither party will take such drastic action.."

Agreed and agreed. In that order.

"Obama and his ignorant policies will simply drive more business and jobs to foreign countries."

It's not "Obama". It's economics.

Hard to believe, but...two different subjects.

"Gov't doesn't create jobs"

Apparently neither does private enterprise.

Apparently neither does private enterprise.

A GDP of $14,000,000,000,000 says you are wrong.

Consumer spending is the #1 way to create GDP, followed by corporate spending, followed by trade, and last but not least government spending.

How DARE that bastard not come across? It's been five months now!

Hope and change and socialism.

SUCKERS

i didn't really expect him to do a thing he said he'd do so i'm not really disappointed. prepare for the worst and pray for the best.
