"He was told in no uncertain terms not to see her," Jenny Sanford said Friday. "I was hoping he was on the Appalachian Trail. But I was not worried about his safety. I was hoping he was doing some real soul searching somewhere and devastated to find out it was Argentina. It's tragic." In her first extended comments on the affair, Sanford recalled how her husband repeatedly sought permission to visit his lover in the months after she discovered his infidelity. "I said absolutely not. It's one thing to forgive adultery; it's another thing to condone it," she told The Associated Press during a 20-minute interview at the coastal home where she sought refuge with their four sons.

That takes a level of shamelessness even astounding for a politician. "Honey, I've been screwing around with another woman. Is it okay if I go spend the weekend with her? Please."

she should tell him to stack beebees! that and he needs to resign.

Sorry Mrs. Sanford, but it simply was not your husband's fault. It was President Obama's fault, you should direct your anger at him.

I completely understand the forgiveness on the first round.

But it is not likely they can make it with his persistance to pursue.

I predict he loses the wife and the governorship along with his political career.

If he straightens up he may be able to keep the wife and stay governor until the end of the term.

His political career is over either way.

It was President Obama's fault, you should direct your anger at him.

FF for Danni

This guy has issues!

They might even have to put a new page in the DSM for him.

King David Syndrome.

Why does anyone care about the Sanford's personal problems?

Why does anyone care about the Sanford's personal problems?

Good question.

Gee, I wonder. The guy was only among the premier up and coming Republicans stars, with rumors flying everywhere about a possible 2012 White House run. So really I wonder why anyone would possibly care about his personal problems.

Only a bunch of right wing hacks would dare ask that question with a straight face.

Well, so much for those who say that openness and communciation make for a good marriage.

Why hell, a real man would have told her to quit her damm bitchin' and make him a sammich!

Only a bunch of right wing hacks would dare ask that question with a straight face.

Not true. I don't give a shit about people's private lives like all you 'People Magazine' reading freaks.

Goatman. Dude. The man was positioning himself for a run at the White House. Of course his personal life matters. Do you forget what you rightwing douchebags did to Clinton?

Libs always told us that we should stay out of their bedrooms when they were pumping their buttbuddies. Other than curiosity about what real sex is like why do lefties care about Sanford's wives and girlfriends?

Do you forget what you rightwing douchebags did to Clinton?

Put your broad brush away. I didn't do anything to Clinton.

Right. Remember "Monkey Business?" And the iconic Democrat pols, the three Kennedy brothers, certainly helped provide guidelines. And Spitzer. And ..

I'm not defending this fellow. And he certainly lacks the duplicity necessary to play around quietly.

Unless Lewinsky was "a right wing douchebag," she's the one who gave Clinton a head job. But she spit the ejaculate up on her dress. Clinton did whatever he did, to himself in conjunction with Lewinsky. And his supporters defended him, including one "leader of NOW," who indicated that "Women should be down on their knees before him." Truth in advertising? Whatever.

The Republicans generally aren't defending the behavior of this nincompoop. The Democrats rallied to defend the behavior of their high libido members, whose activities became noted. Aren't the Democrats really hypocrites?

The democrats never seemed as bother by the things Bill Clinton did as Sanford. Lets see a list is in order here.

1. Whitewater: Swindled a bunch of investors
2. Jennifer Flowers
3. Perjury: Lost his law license over this one
4. Witness Tampering
5. Bribery: Getting Lewinsky a job
6. Illegal campaign contributions
7. FBI Background Files on Republicans
8. Monica Lewinsky: Sexual Harrasment
9. Juanita Broderick: Rape
10. Missing White House Furniture

but but but but it was only a blowjob!!

Rape and missing furniture practically in the same sentence.

You guys crack me up.

Its usually the womans fault when the sex goes out of the marriage.
He probably asked for a three way and she said forget it.
He did the right thing asking her if he can see his mistress.
Its the polite thing to do.

rwd

His wife is giving her cheating louse of a hubby a "death by a thousand cuts" -- releasing bits of his "love" emails here and there, and now giving her latest interview. I'll bet she has a lot more in store for him as the days pass until her lawyer puts a gag order on her doing any further talking. hahaha

but but but but it was only a blowjob!!

Yer top ten list wouldn't make Bush's top one hundred list.

On Topic?

She was already in the process of divorcing him before this all came out in the national press.

Spud's guess she was already planning to tear him a new one before all this went into heavy rotation over at CNN et al and now she's prolly less best pleased than EVAR.

Not a happy gal methinks.

Be Well.

You crack me up, you big, brave phony! Yeah, I can just see you asking your wife if you could continue seeing some new lover.

When your bruises heal over and you can blog again, come back on DR and tell us what your wife had to say, lol

Not true. I don't give a shit about people's private lives like all you 'People Magazine' reading freaks.

I'm not a freak.

If anyone is to blame for this becoming a circus, it's the guy who called a press conference to describe how he's been cheating on his wife and how much his mistress meant to him.

Jenny Sanford is going to gut this guy like a fish. All she has to do is parcel out information in interviews, one day at a time, until his political career is mortally wounded.

scenario: if my husband, a famous politician were to ever dip his wick into another woman - believe me, it would be a private affair - he'd be the white-haired guy sitting on the corner park bench twiddling his thumbs mumbling something about missing body parts - sanford should do the nation a favor and bow out gracefully, as any gentleman would do.

if a woman is good, she'd never have had this problem in the first place.

"Why does anyone care about the Sanford's personal problems? " FWTHOM

"Good question." GOATMAN

Ahem. 'Scuse me. Weren't these guys leading the attack on Clinton and Ted Kennedy? herm

Yeah they were. But they are hypocritical douches. Which all of us are already aware of. Best just to ignore them.

He should have known that wives just have no sense of humor about this kinda shit. Most girl friends don't either. She's gonna draw and quarter him. Too bad ol' Sanford doesn't have a wife like Hillary.
Most...if not ALL these politicians diddle around so this isn't major news. It's not really a reason not to vote for him since everybody we HAVE voted for has done similar stuff. However, the voters should keep in mind that he's not qualified to be a governor or president because he's terminally STUPID.

The Democrats rallied to defend the behavior of their high libido members,

The Dems rallied to defend Spitzer? Really? I seem to remember a distinct lack of interest amongst GOPpers in commenting on John McCain,Newt Gingrich or Bob Barr's inability to live up to their marriage vows. Repeatedly. Especially the Family Values crowd.

And Goat-you are absolutely right about NOW trying to suck and blow (pun intended) over Clinton and Lewenski and the question of sexual harrassment.

Much as Dobson and and the religious right that own the GOP, as well as the GOP itself, did over Bristol's little bun in the oven.

"Much as Dobson and and the religious right that own the GOP, as well as the GOP itself, did over Bristol's little bun in the oven."

Bristol is running for office now??? NO???? Who cares then???Oh, I see, you're just picking fly shit out of the pepper. That's OK, carry on. I thought you were saying something intelligent for a change. My bad....

Danni quoting DailyKOS doctored up Rush quotes again.

"Why does anyone care about the Sanford's personal problems?"
"Good question."

Only for an opportunity to bash this as well as every other Republican.

Weak....better luck next time...lol

and this woman is gaining some 'cred' on her own according to a couple of shows this morning..not standing by her man and all that stuff

moxie

AND we might read the words of machevelli on this subject as well

there is always the words of machevelli

"one could be most excellant captains wihtout being among the most excellant men."

Sanfords wife should talk to former Gov.of NJ McGreeves wife.

Miss Sanford will be considered 'stupid' and 'desperate' by people on both sides of the aisel for having put up with her husbands behavior, but many seem to ignore the fact that maybe she still loves him and wants it to work.

They attacked Hilary Clinton the same way and I thought it was tacky. This woman doesn't deserve any of the crap that some might try to put on her.

Why do these politician wives sell their souls to satan on this issue?

News Item; Senator XYZ has sex with an underage farm animal of the same sex in a drunken coke-crazed weekend.

Senator's wife; 'well, we are gonna work on our marriage as soon as he gets back the livestock show in alberta...'.

WTF, over?

I think Sanford should stay in office for the balance of his term.

Then he should unload the evangelical prude . . .

Do the best he can for his sons . . .

Bring his girlfriend to the United States . . .

Marry her . . .

Write a book . . .

Live out the rest of his life happier than he's probably been for years.

Look, I have some sympathy for the current Mrs. but when I saw those evangelical books on the coffee table, I began to understand. I say he should notch it up. I say his wife should accept the inevitable. Whatever "marriage" they had in the beginning is over. Bottom line . . . they probably had some mutual respect but NO SEX.

So now he's in love and he wants to be happy. I say go for it!

He disappears for a few days "hiking" and no one, not even his wife knows where he's at.

He was pounding something, it just wasn't the dusty trail.
