PREDICTION

the 8 republicans who voted FOR the taxation of amricans yesterday or in REAL TROUBLE

AND dems who voted no.....here is the plan

THE NUMBER 219 was KNOWN well before yesterday and certain DEMOCRATS who are facing tough reelection in 2010 were GIVEN the No vote on this bill so they can tell people back home WITH A STRAIGHT FACE that THEY DIDNT VOTE FOR IT.;..while all the time knowing FULL WELL that it would pass with this number....

there were three area dems here who voted NO..and two of the three have already had aricles written talking about thier "TOUGHEST RE ELECTION TO DATE"

so remember that when the campaigns start

the human spirit:

www.jpost.com

most telling line:

"As we have long noted with a certain amount of understandable cynicism, those outsiders who minimize the peril are often those least vulnerable to the threats. (Take, for example, the irony of a world leader traveling in the bullet-proof popemobile recommending removing protective barriers.)"

reminds me of our son, as a small child, asking, "if we're to have no fear - why does the pope have a popemobile?"

I have already crafter the first draft of letters to local rag about the area dems who voted NO to warn people when they start campaigning that thier "NO" vote has no bearing on thier view on this issue.

and all of the pundits are saying that the senate is not a slam dunk but arent the numbers WAY in favor of this 'raping' of our economy?

nice try null....

I take a little more care on letters sent out to people who I may actually give a shit about them being able to read it...on first reading...lol

"FACT>..the bush economy "ROARED" through most of his terms...."

Borrowing all the way through.
Anyone could have created prosperity, just borrow 5 trillion. Unfortunately, they ran out of dough at the end and revealed their little scheme to the whole world. It will never be the Obama Depression because it was the Bush Depression first. Obama would have to fix the Bush Depression and start a new one of his own if he wanted one named after himself.

AND ANOTHER CULTURE OF CORRUPTION REPORT

YES..I know...pelosi said that if dems were in charge in 2006 that it would all be cleaned up..but she was just kidding...

DANIEL ISSA.........asking to get subpoena to look into the "friends of angelo" deals at countrywide mortgage..and FOR SOME STRANGE REASON>..he is having trouble getting that...even AIG, according to ISSA..wants to have a 'looksee' into it but AGAIN...having trouble getting subpoena...

never in a hundred years will you make anyone believe bush left a depression....I know that wont deter you though..

SO lets have it....lol

and the deficit was less than a trillion

(AND THE fact that I say less than a trillion is a testement to the economic nuclear blast from the dems in powere..FOR NOW>>>)....in other words...billion was a lot under bush...but under obama...its just getting the discussion started.

AND DANNI

I am so excited about being WITH YOu on an issue like we were before when BUSH was pusing immigration reform as in AMNESTY
I am sure you will join in with the same energy when its OBAMA PUSHING IT as you did when it was BUSH pushing it...

and THIS TIME, there will be more than likely DOUBLE DIDGET UNemployment as they attempt to ADD 20 or so MILLION people to the ROLL....

like I said..CANT WAIT....

Now don't be spreading AIDS and other disease to each other you silly liberals.

Today is my 20th Anniversary. I wonder what percentile that puts us in.

Also, as an atheist, how would we compare to religious married couples?
Although to be fair, my wife does have some spirituality, rooted in earth based beliefs. She does not, however, believe in a god in the Judeo-Xian-Muslim tradition.

Congrats briwo!

I think have seen where divorce rates are the same between christian and agnostic/atheist couples.

and that link means what to you??

that an atheist can be as pussy whipped as a christian...LOL

happy anniversary, briwo and bride!

we're in our 20th year together - it gets better every day!

Actually, I nipped the Doing whatever she wants me to in the bud pretty early.

I think the secret is to marry someone you can talk to. When the sex starts to ebb, and it will to one degree or another, you'll need something else to have in common.

If you like to read alot, it may not be a good idea to marry someone who has never read a book for pleasure.
You have to have other stuff in common.

Before we even started officially dating we could talk on the phone for 5 hours straight.

Plus I was 29 and ready to settle down. I had sown a shitload of oats and decided maybe it was time to ease back on the throttle a scoche.

About a yr later I met my wife at a Dead Show at Oxford Plains Speedway in ME, on July 4th weekend 1988. Married about a year later.

Also: COMPROMISE!!! You must be willing to give and take and negotiate. Put your egos aside and do what's best for the family unit.

We never had kids, never wanted them. But I would advise to wait AT LEAST 2 years after getting married before having a kid.
It takes awhile to build a cohesive, stable, trusting relationship, without throwing a brand new human being into the mix.

Anyways, my .02

Congrats Briwo--

We hit 20 years in January.

My wife will be the first to tell you I've never been whipped in my life. I do what I want as long as it doesn't offend her, and I afford her the same consideration.

We have lot's of different friends and do different things alot.

My bar buddy Bambi, is an example of "compromise."

I explained to my wife that every argument she came up with for me not to hang with Bambi when I'm at the bar (note, Bambi does NOT increase the time I spend at the bar)all boils down to the fact that she appears not to trust me.

Her argument is offensive to me and baseless, therefore, I still hang with Bamb, and we just don't really bring it up when I'm at home. She knows I still see Bambi, it's sort of a don't ask don't tell.

FYI: Bambi and I are 100% platonic, always have been and always will be.

Congrats Nanc! Good to see members of the opposition hanging in there as well. I don't need to tell you what kind of work goes into staying together for 20 years.

Is Bambi a woman?

Is Bambi a woman?

#52 | Posted by MURPHY

No, Murphy, she's a deer.

Yes, 42, blonde, blue eyes, slender, cute, exactly what you would expect from her name, but she doesn't have that rid hard and put away wet look.

Her youngest of 2 sons just graduated and is going to ASU. Her eldest goes to WWU.

And this as a single Mom. She's prety cool and he have a lot of fun together as drinking buds. ( My wife doesn't drink, she flushes too bad).

Sorry Briwo but...imho---

Your bar buddy gathering is not a 'compromise' Briwo--you are just doing what you want and damn your wife's feelings.

"FYI: Bambi and I are 100% platonic, always have been and always will be."

Famous last words. Good luck with that.

Famous last words. Good luck with that.

No luck needed if you are truly in love with your spouse.

You ladies can think what you want. And yes, I am doing what I want when I'm at the bar. It takes nothing away from my wife as I would be there at that time anyway.
since there is NO hanky panky, there is nothing wrong with having a female friend.

The level of nontrust among the female population is appalling!

#57: Finally! Thanks.

Your wrong Goatman. Lust and seduction are always a risk to fidelity even in the strongest of marriages. Love and lust have little to do with one another. And when the lever of seduction/temptation is strong enough it can lift even the strong love off it's feet. For example, I completely love my wife and have never screwed around on her. But if Megan Fox is naked in my bed and summoning me, well then...

Love and lust have little to do with one another.

No they don't. But true love consists of complete trust. I know where Briwo is coming from because my wife and I completely trusted each other. We would take our separate trips. My buddy and I would go on a trip for a weekend -- she and her girlfriends/sisters would do the same. I think it strengthens a marriage, not make it riskier.

I would never have dreamed of cheating on her simply for the reason to lose her trust in me was to lose all we had. That trust was too precious a possession to throw away just to fuck some bimbo.

On a side note, we did have an agreement, albeit a tongue in cheek one. We agreed that we could cheat on each other with only one specific person. If Mel Gibson ever knocked on the door, I had to let him have his way with my wife and if Jamie Lee Curtis ever came to the door (this was 20 years ago), I could have my way with her and my wife had to stay silent. LOL Needless to say, we were both faithful throughout our marriage.

I had to let him have his way with my wife and if Jamie Lee Curtis ever came to the door (this was 20 years ago),

God I hope you have updated that pact.

#61: Vincent D'Onofrio for my wife.

Jennifer Aniston for me. I think. It changes alot.

God I hope you have updated that pact.

LOL That's why I noted that was 20 years ago.

I don't know who it would be today. Jennifer Anniston maybe or Jessica Biel. Katherine Zeta Jones is hot in a MILFy sort of way, too.

Murphy

I saved both links in your #50 and will check them out later today. It's just great your Dad is just keeping in contact with the 'Nam guys again. He doesn't necessarily have to go to the reunion. Just talking to them and seeing their photos has probably been good (and therapeutic) for your Dad in a lot of ways. THANKS for putting up the links!

#46 | Posted by briwo

in marriage it is not necessarily what we have in common that keeps the spark alive, but our differences - who'd want to be with someone exactly like them? BORING!

...not to negate the fact two SHOULD have to some degree a number of things in common.

I don't know who it would be today. Jennifer Anniston maybe or Jessica Biel. Katherine Zeta Jones is hot in a MILFy sort of way, too.

Of course that is a one way street. The wife is still stuck with Mel. The booking picture Mel that is.

Just because your wife can trust you, doesn't mean she can trust your drinking buddy, Bambi.

If I were Mrs. Briwo, I'd make real sure that friendship of yours with your good drinking buddy at the bar, Ms. Bambi, stayed platonic!

Kidding aside, Happy 20th Anniversary to your and your wife, Briwo, and hopefully another 40 more anniversaries together too!

Just because your wife can trust you, doesn't mean she can trust your drinking buddy, Bambi.

CC: you have fallen into the same trap as my wife. If Bambi reached over under the bar and grabbed my cock, what would I do?
It's the lack of inate trust.

The answer of course would be to remove Bam's hand, take her car keys, and get her a ride home.

It's the not trusting ME that is the real issue. And I've noticed most women just do not get this distinction.

Jane Seymour is still pretty Milfy, although she's drifting into GILFY territory.

Phoebe Cates during the Ridgemont High Days for sher.

We would take our separate trips. My buddy and I would go on a trip for a weekend -- she and her girlfriends/sisters would do the same. G-man

Sorry G-Man--that is not even close to the same thing as getting drunk with a single mom at a bar every week.

No comparison. Your separate trips away from your wife were with other men, your wife's trips were with other women. I'll bet if you had told her you'd like to go off on a weekend trip with another woman -- purely platonic, of course : ) -- you would have gotten an entirely different reaction from her and you know it!

And no way, if you had a regular and normal marriage, can you make me believe you would have allowed your wife to go off on a weekend trip alone with a male friend and not have had at least some concern and doubt -- if not about her, then at least about her male traveling companion.

#70 GILFY

LOL

The answer of course would be to remove Bam's hand, take her car keys, and get her a ride home.

My phone number is listed. Only if she is really drunk though.

MURPHY

Hahaha -- just now saw your post #72!

We women are not stupid! "Bambi" knows Briwo is a married guy yet seems to like to spend all her time talking to him. You don't want to spend your time with people you don't like and enjoy their company. Sorry, Mrs. Briwo needs to tell Briwo to tell Bambi "bye bye" and stick to just yukking it up with the guys at the bar.

And I've noticed most women just do not get this distinction.

#69 | Posted by briwo

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe it is YOU that is not getting the distinction?

Maybe if you took yourself out of that fish bowl where you are sitting next to Bambi at the bar getting drunk--and take a look and think about it.

Sorry G-Man--that is not even close to the same thing as getting drunk with a single mom at a bar every week.

#71 | Posted by MURPHY at 2009-06-27 03:57 PM

Why not? And it's not "getting drunk with a single Mom"

She would be there regardless if I was there or not. Same for me. But when we are there at the saem time, we hang out, laugh, have a few beers and then I head home and am home by 5 PM.

Women seem to have a very hard time wrapping their minds around this one.

OK, answer me this, what if it was Bill and not Bambi? Would that make a difference? (comedians, please refrain from the obvious gay jokes).

Sorry, Mrs. Briwo needs to tell Briwo to tell Bambi "bye bye" and stick to just yukking it up with the guys at the bar.

#75 | Posted by CalifChris at 2009-06-27 04:03 PM |

She did. But she didn't win the debate that followed.

OK, answer me this, what if it was Bill and not Bambi? Would that make a difference?

Would you go up and strike a conversation with Bill like you would Bambi? Then go back and continue the relationship?

OK, answer me this, what if it was Bill and not Bambi? Would that make a difference?

You spending a few hours with your male drinking buddies at the bar is entirely different.

No problem with that whatsoever.

Maybe if you took yourself out of that fish bowl where you are sitting next to Bambi at the bar getting drunk--and take a look and think about it.

#76 | Posted by MURPHY at 2009-06-27 04:03 PM

AGAIN, I am at the bar for 2 hrs most. 2-3 beers, home by 5 PM.

maybe once a week. You keep blowing it out of proportion.

If me and Bubba were in that fishbowl it would be OK because we straight, right? But if it's Bambi, she's female, so of course I won't be able to control myself and will fall to her wiles and end up fucking her.

That is fucking insulting frankly.

Briwo

Would you go up and strike a conversation with Bill like you would Bambi? Then go back and continue the relationship?

#79 | Posted by crispee_oc at 2009-06-27 04:07 PM

All the time. I have plenty of male bar friends as well. Keep in mind this is a small bar, music, couple of pool tables, nothing major.

Why?

#82 | Posted by briwo

Why would you even need to ask "why"?

#68: Thanks CC!

Bill would be fine to buddy with.

--------

She did. But she didn't win the debate that followed.

#78 | Posted by briwo

So much for your idea of 'compromise'.

---

Little do you realize what goes on in a womans' heart there Briwo.

Little by little you foster resentment.

Why not ask your wife if she feels any resentment?

Oh I forgot--she lost that debate.

---

And I guess you would think it peachy king if your wife had a drinking male buddy--single dad with kids--that she was with week after week--day after day at 5 pm? And his name was Jack.

Your separate trips away from your wife were with other men,

But if I wasn't trustworthy, I could easily have have been screwing around. She didn't know if we had women in the campsite or were screwing whores on our trips to the border.

#85, because I don't understand why men can't have platonic relationships with women. I do it all the time. I'd say the majority of my friends are female.

A big reason is because I work in a ratio 20 female employees to 1 male. It's just a strange anamoly in the industry I work in.

If me and Bubba were in that fishbowl it would be OK because we straight, right? But if it's Bambi, she's female, so of course I won't be able to control myself and will fall to her wiles and end up fucking her.

#81 | Posted by briwo

Only if you are bisexual--then we could lecture you on Bubba too.

;o)

Murphy, CC, do y'all realize how sexist that attitude is? Why shouldn't a man be able to have a woman for a platonic friend? Why must he stick with other men only?

Briwo's wife obviously trusts him. Trust can only strengthen a marriage.

If Bambi was a "regular" at the bar -- and I've spend enough time in bars to know every bar has their regulars and a lot are good people who don't go in the bar just to hook up with someone but go in to just relax and talk and have a few drinks -- and you didn't spend ALL your time in talking only to Bambi, well maybe it might be different.

But your wife has discussed Bambi with you before so there is something there which causes her some concern.

For instance, you described Bambi to us as --

Bambi...42, blonde, blue eyes, slender, cute, exactly what you would expect from her name, but she doesn't have that rid hard and put away wet look...

Now why should you even care (or have even noticed) whether or not Bambi had a "ride hard and put away wet look"? Hmm? And you wonder why your wife may have some doubts? lol!

Now why should you even care (or have even noticed) whether or not Bambi had a "ride hard and put away wet look"? Hmm? And you wonder why your wife may have some doubts? lol!

So if Bambi looked more like Rosie Odonnell you would have a different perspective?

Murphy, CC, do y'all realize how sexist that attitude is? Why shouldn't a man be able to have a woman for a platonic friend? Why must he stick with other men only?

Because men don't always think only with the head that is attached to their neck, that's why.

Men are men. Need we say more?

Besides, we weren't talking only occasional female acquaintances or neighbors, we were talking about the inability for men to have "platonic" weekend trips with another female or for a married guy to spend hours in a bar drinking with a single female and not have something come out of it.

And no way, if you had a regular and normal marriage, can you make me believe you would have allowed your wife to go off on a weekend trip alone with a male friend and not have had at least some concern and doubt -- if not about her, then at least about her male traveling companion.

Back in my last lifetime when I was a telecom cubicle commando, I used to travel to San Francisco at least one week a month to test new software and hardware for Sprint's switching network. This went on for about 11 years. The lady who ran the lab was very attractive. We would sometimes work well into the night. My wife never had a problem with it. I could have been screwing around then just as easily as if we had taken a weekend trip together. But my wife trusted me and I had no desire to betray that trust which as I said upthread, was about the most precious thing I owned.

Funny story of that: I had been making these trips for a couple of years before my wife ever met R from San Francisco. R came to Atlanta once and of course we had her over for dinner. My wife, having a wicked and finely honed sense of humor was giving R the eye while we were eating. Finally she said, "So you're the woman my husband has been spending his evenings with for the last two years.

Poor R was flabbergasted and had no idea what to say, but my wife quickly started laughing to let her know it was a joke. The only thing keener than her sense of humor was her sense of empathy and wanting to make sure everyone was OK.

To this day, I still keep in touch with R and we are very good friends. BTW her husband doesn't mind at all if the two of us go out to dinner and he's too busy to join us.

Platonic friends are fine GM.

Briwo brings up a different scenario that is imho--inappropiate--and begging for trouble.

----------

I work in an industry with mainly men. There are plenty of women as well--but the majority thru the years have been men.

If there was bar hopping after work--there would be a group. Hubby was there most of the time and if there was a party--he was always there.

------------
The kids are another issue--If I drive a friend of Dylan's home--Dylan goes with me. I don't care what age they are.

If hubby is driving one of Paige's friends home--Paige goes with him.

Paige had a tutor--rule number one--when he was here at the house--Hubby or I had to be here too. Pretty simple since I work from home.
--------

And this is beyond a "platonic friend". This is a continuous date with a single mom with children--drinking-"only a few drinks" every week --for how many years there Briwo?

Amd just ask you wife if she feels any resentment over the Bambi situation.

Men are men. Need we say more?

IOW, none are trustworthy when it comes to sexual restraint?

I am not able to have a female as a platonic friend. What happens the woman will trust me and tell me when she is feeling mentally weak or depressed. I will then invite her out for drinks and take advantage of the situation. The next day she feels hurt that I would use her. Friendship ends.

Goat

You are right about trust being the most important thing between a couple -- at least I feel it is. If you know you can trust the other person completely, and he (or she) can trust you, then you'll have a solid relationship no one else can break apart. Then again, though, if that trust is betrayed it's hard to ever fully trust them again.

But I guess one also figures why put temptation out there if it's not necessary. People are human and human beings have weaknesses. Why test and push a situtation to the limit if you don't have to. Just sayin'.

none are trustworthy when it comes to sexual restraint?

#97 | Posted by goatman

Urkel maybe--but why invite trouble?

And Briwo pretends his wife is ok with this and she obviously isn't.

He calls it compromise and she lost the debate too.

#98 | Posted by jackass

Voila! Some honesty!

IOW, none are trustworthy when it comes to sexual restraint?

If a man is in the right mood, in the right place, having the right feelings at the time, and with the right woman -- no, they probably aren't all that trustworthy when it comes to sexual restraint if all those things came together.

But then again, a man may be able to push all that aside and ingore it. I don't know. I'm not a guy. You tell me.

I am not able to have a female as a platonic friend. What happens the woman will trust me and tell me when she is feeling mentally weak or depressed. I will then invite her out for drinks and take advantage of the situation. The next day she feels hurt that I would use her. Friendship ends.

What happens the woman will trust me and tell me when she is feeling mentally weak or depressed.

If your posts are any indication of your appearence, I would bet that is the reason they trust you. As for them feeling mentally weak or depressed... Same reason as above.

Aren't you a little old to be cruising high schools?

I know I deserve a shot for this....

Is it possible Cali and Murph think alike on this because they live in Cali? I believe Briwo lives in the midwest... and ...

The attitude of CC & Murphy exhibits the jealousy and mistrust that women have not due to male infidelity but because of their own sexual appetite. They know how horny - and competitive - women are and they don't believe a man can say NO!

CC believes that a man should be on a leash, though she's willing to lengthen the rope if he is trustworthy.

God knows what Murphy uses to constrain her husband, though typically women use a Lazy Boy and a big screen TV.

But it doesn't matter if it's a collar locked around your neck or a soft landing for your butt, women are intent on domesticating a man, despite the fact that a Real Man doesn't need inducements or constraints to live up to his word, bond, or oath.

At worst their behavior results in emasculation and at best lethargy.

I had a jealous wife and she used her insecurities as an excuse to have an affair. She just knew that I was out screwing the world. I divorced her that indiscretion in 76 and since then employed the Once Bitten Twice Shy approach to marriage.

Personally I won't give up my home to live like a woman's pet. For one thing I enjoy my solitude and I enjoy some pretty rough country. For another if she is not independent enough to live her life without me then she's not in my league.

None of this stands in the way of true intimacy or commitment. But it does thwart the female desire to control everything around and about her domain.

It's a lack of courage when you get right down to it.

OZ--

Since you jumped into the conversation--maybe you didn't read all the posts?

-----

Jealousy would show for any and all other contacts be it male or female.

That is not what CC and I are talking about.

And it's not control either.

It's called respect and honor.

There is nothing emasculating about it.

--

Sorry you had a bad experience--you had the wrong gal.

The attitude of CC & Murphy exhibits the jealousy and mistrust that women have not due to male infidelity but because of their own sexual appetite....

Well, sure, most women like sex too, ya know.

If a guy finds himself with a woman who may be sexually interested in him, then you've got something brewing. Now if they're both unattached then that's great -- no problem there -- just fun. But if the guy is "already spoken for" and the woman is sexually interested in him, isn't that just pushing the temptation card to the limit?

Because men don't always think only with the head that is attached to their neck, that's why.

Men are men. Need we say more?

See, this is exactly what I've been saying. It all boils down to the fact that women just don't trust men. Period. end of Story.

And your scenario of me and Bambi being regulars with the other regulars who have a couple of pops after work is dead on.

None of this stands in the way of true intimacy or commitment. But it does thwart the female desire to control everything around and about her domain.

She really did a number on you. ;o(

And you believe that all females have these dominatrix views for control over her domain?

The courage you seek lies in taking another chance with a gal who understands exactly where you are coming from and won't resent it.

I had a jealous wife and she used her insecurities as an excuse to have an affair.

If it were just jealousy and insecurity on your wife's part and you never were unfaithful to her, then she was totally in the wrong to break your marriage vows. Even if you had been unfaithful to her, she still should not have gone and been with another man while you were still married. Sounds like there might have been other problems in the marriage? Only the couple themselves really know.

I disagree.

There are some males and females though that could never be trusted.

But by and large love is great and couples trust one another completely--and all the time.

Murphy's right. You can't say all women you ever meet will be the same, and shy away all these years from women by trying to lump them all in the same pot. If it's the right woman and she loves you, and knows she can trust you, then she'll give you that freedom you seem to want to just "take off and go" when you have the need.

We lived in Seattle for 6 years and absolutely loved the place.

Then when Paige was like 2 and a half. She was sitting in her child seat in the back.

We are sitting at a red light and she looks out the window and says,

"What's thaaaaat in the skyyyyy?" (hear whining voice) She was rubbing her eyes. lol

It was the friggin SUN!

So I put in a transfer with the company and moved our butts back to So. California.

imho--Briwo--it is your lack of seeing this from your wife's heart and giving her the respect that you obviously seem to have for her.

Saying you compromised and she lost the debate is just male comeupence or braggery.

"I live east of Puyallup towards the Mountain. About 800' above Sumner.

Posted by briwo at 2009-06-27 05:13 PM

Mount Rainier will blow, that's a given.

When it does, a wall of mud and debris the consistency of wet concrete will come flooding down five river valleys that radiate from the mountain. The towns of Orting, Sumner, Ashford, Elbe, Packwood, Randle, Greenwater and parts of Puyallup will be in its path.

Parts of Tacoma, Buckley, Enumclaw, and to a lesser extent, South Prairie, Carbonado and Wilkeson, could also be hit by the flow.

In all, 30,000 Puyallup River Valley residents could be in direct danger from a volcanic eruption, along with 100,000 people living in the mountain's six other valleys.

www.seattlepi.com

Orting cafe owner Irene Waddell shrugs it off. A four-year resident of the town, Waddell said she knows the hazards and has "a few candles stashed in the event of an eruption, but that's about it."

She appeared more worried about feeding hungry customers.

"People around here don't talk about it too much. Most people think, nah, it's not a problem,'" she said as she piled turkey and cheese on fresh bread. "I think we have bigger things to worry about, you know? Maybe I'm in denial. But that mountain is beautiful, and I'm just going to enjoy it while it's here and while I'm here."

Love it here and love the weather.

Hubby loved the weather there. Frankly after two years--you know sit in front of the fire with a bottle or two--the weather wore me out! lol

It always rained or drizzled. Sunbreaks did not help.

Great summers--the two months you had!

Raised in So. CA--the adjustment was over after 6 years.

Since you are pretty close to Mt. Rainer--if you get earthquakes like every day--pack up and leave.

So true Zat--

And with the EQ in AK last week--and the problems with Mt Redoubt--They are all connected with the same plumbing system.

St. Helens --they expect her to blow again--and she is missing half her top!

With those earthquakes and volcanic eruptions predicted for the North West they also expect a tsunami -- a big one.

But if the guy is "already spoken for" and the woman is sexually interested in him, isn't that just pushing the temptation card to the limit?

I'll have to turn that around to answer you.

Being the "single guy" and not always involved with a woman, there have been times when I knew I could have a sexual relationship with a married woman who wasn't separated or headed to divorce court. Whether they had an "open" marriage or just slept around it didn't matter to me.

Usually I try to be polite an ignore them. Like maybe I'm too stupid to figure out what they have in mind.

Some of that may come from my indignation over my wife's behavior, but I also have an aversion to sleeping with a woman who is sleeping with another man - in the present tense.

I do find it insulting to assume that because I'm a man that I can't control myself. If that were the case I'd have either spent my time on subs masturbating or having gay sex.

Of course you won't find me hanging out in a bar. I'm either at home or out in the field. Some community involvement but not the sort that lends itself to sexual liaisons with married women. Or single women for that matter.

What I've learned is that women who chase men chase men, men who chase women chase women. You want someone to be true then find someone who treasures their independence. It's a rare find but I'm holding out for the real thing. Maybe to my grave considering my age.

She could have taken that walk before she had my daughter and I might have missed her going out the door but I wouldn't have had to deal with her again.

And yes, her jealousy extends to everyone. My real heartbreak was her interference with my visitation and relationship with my daughter.

At this point in time she's entering the 3rd stage of alcoholism. Daughter of a Presbyterian minister and virgin when we met. So it's not like I married some slut hanging around the wharf.

Yes. But the earth station is in Houston.

The cool thing is that it seems to move. Ask anyone who lives here and they'll tell you The Mountain moves.

It's also refered to as being in or out. some days even with clear skies you can't see it. The Mountain is not "out"

It's out today. I can see it from my deck. There's a great view coming up my driveway too which I just discivered the other day after living here for over 10 years.

I'd like a picture of Rainier about now, I went into Austin for a few hours today to go shopping with The Goddess and drop by the lab. The Porsche's thermometer thought it was 108 at one point on the drive back out here. Swimming pool's already 82. I'm thinking of flying to Seattle just after Labor Day and taking the ferry to Vancouver Island to show my wife Butchart Gardens, among other things. She's a passionate gardener. Her whole backyard, which is considerable for inside Austin, is a maze of paths among rose bushes and various other flowering things. Google earth shot: i179.photobucket.com

She'd love Butchart Gardens.

If it's too personal just skip answering , but did she have an alcohol problem when you married her? Sometimes there can be a problem but you can't always tell a person is actually an alcoholic -- you just think they enjoy drinking but don't recognize it as a real problem. Some are good at hiding it.

I do live in the Pacific Northwest and have consumed a quantity of bud during my anniversary celebration, the quality of which can only be imagined by mere mortals living in the land of Texas.

I haven't smoked dope in 20 years, but I still remember Kona and Thai stick. If it's better than that, they you are right -- I can't imagine.

That's what my grandmother said, too. She told me though that when she first saw it she almost walked out at the end before it was over because she was so appalled by the word 'damn' being uttered on screen. She said there was an audible collective *gasp* in the audience. Funny stuff

They filmed a couple of endings with different wording.

They kept the "Damn" part.

Cyclone - cool!!

I thought all these hurricanes were so exciting when I started watching and paying closer attention after Katrina. One of the reasons I thought it would be kind of neat to live along the Gulf Coast -- as long as your home didn't wash away. I like varying weather events -- keeps things from being monotonous.

This wave over the Yucatan is projected to bring 3-5 inches of rain to central Fla, too far north to help us out much in Naples.

Think I'm going to spend the rest of the week in the Keys, where, counter-intuitively, it should be a bit cooler than the nearly 80 degrees at night it will be here this week.

When it's that hot, even a hurricane is almost welcome if it brings a cooling rain.

I like varying weather events -- keeps things from being monotonous.

I sat out Hurricane Rita four years ago in a Holiday Inn in Lafayette after the rig was evacuated. Hurricane parties are wild -- a bunch of offshore guys drinking while 100 MPH winds are blowing.

I was on the windward side of the hotel. I kept my outside door open as the wind blew over me. They guys who had leeward side rooms had water on the floor because it blew in under the doors.

That particular hurricane party was particularly wild as the hotel was also full of the recent Katrina refugees. They had dozens of tents set up in the grass around the hotel. Needless to say, they didn't last. The rig workers welcomed these people in and let them sleep on the floor of their rooms. The hotel was gracious enough to provide extra blankets. We all had plenty of booze and beer and no one cared. Some of them were crazy enough to go out into the storm and see who could stand up in the wind. No one could, but it was funny to watch

People band together and help each out when things get bad in spite of the doomsayers.

#191 -- your hurricane party

Sounded like fun. I was born in Miami and we left Florida when I was three years old so I've been in no hurricanes since.

My Mom told me of a hurricane when we lived there where she had to take me into a back bedroom and my Dad had to spend the night standing up against the front door to brace it in order to keep it from blowing open. It was the first house they bought after they got married and was small and wasn't built to withstand heavy hurricane winds.

2005 had three hurricanes ~4 weeks apart: Cindy, Katrina, and Rita. They just happened to hit while 'B' crew was on the rig. I am on 'B' crew, so I was evacuated 3 times. I worked only 18 days that summer.

During Katrina, we were evacuated to New Orleans, but were ordered by the company to leave hours before Nagin ordered an evacuation. (oil companies should be running the city?) By the time I got out, the official order had been given. Even with the contra flow on I-10, it took me 8 hours to get to Lafayette and another 7 hours to get to Lake Charles and another 6 hours to get to Houston. As all oil field workers do during hurricane season, I had the tank filled up before I went offshore. Good thing. There was no gas to be had until I got ~ 30 miles east of Houston. I was running on fumes. The interstate was littered with fuelless vehicles.

The interstate didn't pick up to normal speed until I got to Katy, which is west of Houston. That drive home was the drive from hell.

Corky

Just spoke by phone to my cousin and his wife yesterday and they had just sold their home in Palm City, FL and have now moved to Sewall's Point, Florida

Not sure how they would fare in a hurricane. All depends on where it makes landfall, I guess. They invited me to come and visit them. It looks kind of nice. Might take them up on their offer one of these days!

Might not be a bad idea putting the oil boys in charge. One thing they sure seem to know is how to manage safety precautions in hurricane seasons.

I remember the hurricane season last year when you wrote on here your uncle in League Cit, TX wanted to stay put in his house even while everyone else was fleeing for the hills! Guess he made it through okay.
