Well, that didn't take long now did it?
First off, that website gives an accurate representation of what was shown on the NOVA show. A black spire appears to be belching black smoke and then the smoke dissappears. There's just one little problem...
That particular sequence is of a STILL picture which the NOVA camera zooms in on, giving the appearance of movement where there is none. In other words, it has to be an artifact from the show, because it's kinda hard to have movement in a STILL picture.
Mystery solved.

Where is this guys proof? I'm downloading Nova's Voyage to the Mystery Moon 2006 and will check for myself since nobody can produce the evidence.

Arg.. the 'Mystery Moon' is a PBS special on Titan.. The Nova special in question is really elusive. Until I've had an opportunity to examine the evidence used in this argument I refuse to take a side other than recognizing that the obvious visual anomaly does exist. That's what I would expect anyone to do. So, in the spirit of maintaining this awesomely misunderstood battle topic I'll post the specific NOVA special 'To The Moon' clip in question on YouTube when I come by it from any source.

What part of that nonsense made any sense to you? The part where the smudge magically appears, or the part where it magically disappears? I like the detailed explanation of how it happened--what was it? Oh yeah--"something else that happened during production". Very scientific explanation. But you bought it.

Again--zooming in doesn't make things appear--move--fade and disappear. Also--this is not a still picture, but a video---the only way to get movement like that is to have a sequence of frames that have slightly different images on each frame----that's a video. Your link has been refuted time after time---pay attention.

.. I can describe what you'll see. Apollo 8 is orbiting the moon on Christmas Eve, and reading from the bible broadcasting to the world. The sequence in question is on the screen for about 3 seconds. The "smoke" sequence lasts 3 frames, or about 1/8 second. Even knowing it is there, and seen it before, it is possible to miss it.

Thanks, but I'll need to watch the clip from perhaps a minute prior to a minute afterward to ensure anything pertinent is within context.

I have a very limited budget - DVD's are absolutely verboten, so I'll scour and inquire further this evening - someone is bound to have at least a crappy copy at Conspiracy Central.

The clip this thread is about will tell you more than the dvd. It breaks the frames down one by one. A minute before and after has nothing to do with the clip with the smokestack. The sequence is only on for about 3 seconds and not acknowledged by Nova or the astronauts or NASA in any way. The only thing the dvd did for me was verify that what the clip said was true, and it was on the dvd. In short--watch the link at the top of this thread. It's not as long as the dvd and tells you much more.
