George Will: Right-Wing Attacks On Obama's Iran Response "Foolish Criticism" (VIDEO)

George Will, asked to respond by George Stephanopoulos to Republican criticism of President Obama for not being forceful enough in injecting himself rhetorically into the controversy surrounding the Iranian election, said that "it seemed to me foolish criticism"

The president is being roundly criticized for insufficient, rhetorical support for what's going on over there. It seems to me foolish criticism. The people on the streets know full well what the American attitude toward the regime is. And they don't need that reinforced.

www.huffingtonpost.com

I remember when he used to be a Conservative, lmfao.

I think Obama is right to stay out of this, which is a very conservative idea. We don't need to add a weapon to the government's arsenal: i.e. see! The opposition is supported by the Great Satan!

For once in their lives partisan Republicans really do need to STFU and let Iran do what Iran is going to do. Playing partisan politics now reveals real party over country politics.

From Sydney Morning Herald. (smh.com.au) A four-star "huh??"

Disabled 'typecast as danger to public'
Date: June 23 2009

Brian Robins
THE State Opposition spokesman on legal affairs, Greg Smith, has said that clients of the Office of the Protective Commissioner are dangerous and that security guards would be needed to protect the public if the clients went into government offices.

The commissioner's office provides financial management services for people who are unable to manage their own affairs due to disability.

Mr Smith's comments drew a sharp rebuke from the commissioner, Imelda Dodds, who has written to the Attorney-General, John Hatzistergos, complaining Mr Smith was typecasting a group that is least able to protect itself.

The Government is seeking to merge the Office of the Protective Commissioner with the Public Trustee, which the Coalition opposes. Legislation goes to the upper house this week and hinges on the stance of the Shooters Party and the Greens.

The merger was proposed in last November's mini-budget. It would give clients of the Office of the Protective Commissioner access to Public Trustee offices across the state, rather than the single office they use at present.

Can Obama maybe start dressing a little better?

If he thinks he is the President, he ought to look like one.

He goes out like a bum lately ...jeans and polo shirts? ( not even real Polo ) ?????

Hardly.

According to Rogers (www.drudge.com) there are 12,500 members of the Retort; of whom 4,000 have logged on during the past half year. And according to the "Stats" accounting:

The Retort has 134 members who have declared their party affiliation.
Democrat: 40 (29.85%)
Independent: 31 (23.13%)
Republican: 31 (23.13%)
None: 13 (9.7%)
Other: 8 (5.97%)
Libertarian: 8 (5.97%)
Green: 3 (2.24%)
137 members have declared their political ideology.

That's something on the order of 3.5% of those who've signed on during the past year accounted for; or 1% of the total membership.

In Texas, Gov. Perry Crows About His Endorsement by Palin

Facing a tough Republican primary fight next year in his bid for a third term, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is brandishing the heavy artillery: Sarah Palin's endorsement of his campaign."If there's a bigger endorsement in the Republican universe, I don't know who it is than Sarah," he declared in a telephone interview over the weekend. He described the Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee as a "close personal friend" who knows my heart."

Actually, that is a misquote, He really said that Palin is a, "close personal friend" who knows my hair."

Right now, based on the 137 members have declared their political ideology....

Liberal: 52 (37.96%)
Conservative: 42 (30.66%)
Libertarian: 23 (16.79%)
Other: 14 (10.22%)
None: 6 (4.38%)

If you add the conservative and the libertarian numbers, that's over 47%. How you want to think about what Other and None amounts to is up to you.

And I'll bow to your expertise on the subject of trolling.

this is not earth shattering news but the amount of 'other' voices is substantally higher...
RIGHT RCADE????

If we would stand up to the Iranian officials now and say " Komani and Achman no longer have credibility with us as the leaders of Iran" it would do a world of good to those in the streets...if we would further say "we stand with the Iranian people and we have the 2nd Armored Division standing by at the boarder and will support whatever moves the Iranian people want from us" it would put the fear into the leadership to walk away as they would then know they would be risking their lives.

This is why we have the 2nd admendment - if this would happen in the US the entire populace in the street would be armed and would be able to depose a despot (like Obama) that seeks to undermine the constitution and claim power for himself and acts as the ultimate check in the check and balance of power.

Obama announces agreement with drug companies

President Barack Obama on Monday welcomed the pharmaceutical industry's agreement to help close a gap in Medicare's drug coverage, calling the pact a step forward in the push for overhaul of the nation's health care system.

Obama said that drug companies have pledged to spend $80 billion over the next decade to help reduce the cost of drugs for seniors and pay for a portion of Obama's health care legislation.

"This is a significant breakthrough on the road to health care reform, one that will make a difference in the lives of many older Americans," Obama said in the White House's Diplomatic Room.

He was joined by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee who struck the deal with the White House; Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Barry Rand, head of the senior citizens' advocacy group AARP. Notably absent was a representative from the pharmaceutical association.

"It was always designed to be an AARP event," said Ken Johnson, spokesman for the association. "We don't think we should have been invited to it."

Billy Tauzin, the group's president and a former Republican congressman from Louisiana, will attend a town hall meeting on health care that Obama is staging at the White House on Wednesday, Johnson said.

The president used the opportunity to make his sternest call yet for action, saying the drug agreement is one piece of "health care reform I expect Congress to enact this year."

"Seeing as you can't blame Bush"

I could blame Bush for delaying the events in Iran by several years. If he were still president they would not be now occurring. When a nation is in fear of an attack from without it will not rise up to the evil within. When the fear of attack from without diminishes then the liklihood of an uprising against the evil within increases.
It is simply undeniable, the Obama Presidency has empowered Iranians.

"
and now the dictators in iran at risk of being disposed and what side does obama take

NONE!!!!!!! essentially"

The right side. The pragmatic, intelligent side. It will take a while for idiots like BL2 to get it but someday, hopefully, they will.

"Obama said that drug companies have pledged to spend $80 billion over the next decade to help reduce the cost of drugs for seniors and pay for a portion of Obama's health care legislation."

$80 Billion dollars over 10 years.
$1 Billion dollars each year.

How do you spend $1 Billion dollars in your own money to reduce the cost of drugs?

435 in the House. 50 in the Senate. 1 in the White House. 50 Governors. That's 536. Add a couple thousand others.
1,536. divide up $1 Billion.

Everyone gets $651,041.66 in campaign contributions.

Yup. Just watch the cost of drugs go down...

It will take a while for idiots like BL2 to get it but someday, hopefully, they will.

$80 Billion dollars over 10 years.
$1 Billion dollars each year.

Petrous, I must have had too much ice cream. Where does the One billion originate. I'm at 80 divided by 10 which gives me another number.
How do you spend $1 Billion dollars in your own money to reduce the cost of drugs?

This is a good question. Is it flimflam? Gosh.
But don't trouble yourself since modern methods of indoctrinating people need not be that sophisticated as the Pavlovians are in charge.

Why look at the single payer health care flimflam. The inference is that if there is single payer somehow the health care resources will increase sufficiently to provide unlimited care for everyone. And the people who are most likely to suffer the greatest curtailments, the elderly, have their advocate organizations most fervent in their support of the program.

It's really cool in England now that the obese are denied hip surgery, and heart surgery is denied ... oh well, the fantasy and the reality are, er, different.

Now we have politicians outdoing mere mortals with the big lies. The check is in the mail. Don't worry honey, I won't come in your mouth. If you get pregnant, sure I'll marry you. That's all minor league. That's all one person deceived at a time. The big one is "With Universal Single Payer Health care" everyone will receive the care he needs and on a timely basis, and 'free.'" What's the source of "free?"

If his approval is in a rabid flaming nose dive NOW, what will people's approval of Obama be AFTER inflation kicks in, and after tax breaks expire and they start losing 40% of their paycheck?

Will Obama go on Dancing With the Stars to help his popularity?

I wouldn't be surprised.

It is simply undeniable, the Obama Presidency has empowered Iranians.

It would be the first time the FTC tries to patrol systematically what bloggers say and do online. The common practice of posting a graphical ad or a link to an online retailer and getting commissions for any sales from it would be enough to trigger oversight."

So they say.

Now, in "Catastrophe," Morris and McGann take a hard look at America in free fall and at how Obama is transforming a vulnerable America into a socialist state.

They tell the truth about Obama and his radical policies:

* He will destroy our healthcare system so that no one gets adequate care.
* He designed his bank rescue plan to pave the way for nationalization of the banks and socialization of the economy.
* He firmly believes in government control of our major industries: He's already commandeered the banks and the automobile industry.
* He plans to reshape the political landscape to keep the left in power for decades by cooking the census, enfranchising illegal immigrants, muzzling talk radio, and coercing workers into unions.
* He is attacking those who fight terrorism while letting the terrorists go free.
* He gives aid to Hamas while Shariah law threatens to take over America.
* He has repealed the Declaration of Independence and put us under a worldwide, European-dominated financial regulatory system.

Dems ignoring Obama's paltry budget cuts
Rick Moran
When the president announced that he wanted a grand total of $19.8 billion cut from a budget of $2.7 trillion, most people laughed in his face.

It turns out that his own party is laughing too because House Democrats are ignoring Obama's desire to cut even that paltry amount from the budget and are funding programs the president wants eliminated.

Walter Alarkon of The Hill has the story:

Congression Democrats are largely ignoring President Obama's $19.8 billion in budget cuts.

The president proposed axing dozens of programs that he said were inefficient or ineffective, but members of the House Appropriations Committee are including the money for them.

They are looking to cut elsewhere - and are targeting even some of Obama's priorities.

Democrats on the panel are, for example, leaving out $60 million required to close the prison in Guantnamo Bay, Cuba - one of Obama's campaign promises.

Disagreements between lawmakers and the White House amount to only a fraction of the $3.6 trillion budget's $1 trillion in discretionary spending. Democrats say they share Obama's larger goal of reducing spending. But they do not agree over which parts of the budget are bloated.

Spending bills marked up by the House have found funds for prisons for illegal immigrants, grants for public telecom facilities, and homeland security programs sending money back to local officials - all of which had been chopped by the White House.

Obama had called for $19.8 billion of cuts in discretionary spending next year, saying the reductions are "setting the right priorities with our spending."

But in the five spending bills that have so far been reported out of the House Appropriations Committee, lawmakers have ignored at least $655 million of the president's proposed cuts.

Democrats are politicians first. And a good politician can sense trouble long before it becomes apparent to most of the rest of us. They know the trillion dollar stimulus bill was a failure. They know the president's policies are becoming more and more unpopular as people are very worried about the fiscal insanity released by this president. They may even be most worried about the prospect of high interest rates and high inflation by the fall - something that would choke off the economic recovery and plunge this nation into a downturn the likes of which haven't been seen since the depression.

They are beginning to ignore their own president because very shortly, he may become as toxic as Bush ever was. Pretty soon, it will be every man for himself as Democrats will be forced to scramble to avoid disaster in 2010.

Obama's poll numbers begin to tumble
Rick Moran
Some of the drop is surely the result of the sheen wearing off his inaugural and people settling back into their accustomed niches - Democrat, Republican, and independent.

And even though his personal popularity remains in the 60% range in a spate of polls that have come out this past week, it is equally clear that the president's policies are beginning to drag him down and that people are becoming very worried about his fiscal program and his deficit spending.

This article by Michael Falcone and Andy Barr in Politico is a great summary of several polls from different sources that have come out in the last week or so, clearly showing Obama losing popularity while his negatives are on the rise:

Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, said the Obama administration should look at the new results "as a warning sign" but added that the new numbers were "not an indication of a loss of fundamental political support."

"The real driver is not the president's personal popularity," which remains robust, Kohut said, "but faith in him to deal with the nation's No. 1 problem": i.e. the economy.

This highlights how some of Obama's political fortunes remain outside his control, dependent on employment figures which have continued to worsen even as the federal government has spent hundreds of billions of dollars on measures to stimulate the economy and bail out the financial services sector.

Surveys released last week by Pew, NBC News/Wall Street Journal and The New York Times/CBS News show a similar pattern. The Pew survey, for example, registered an 8-percentage-point drop in public approval for Obama's handling of the economy - falling from 60 percent to 52 percent between mid-April and June. The percentage of Americans who disapprove jumped by 7 percentage points during the same period.

Though Democrats are still generally more supportive of the administration overall, the slide in the president's economic numbers defied partisan boundaries. The Pew survey, for instance, showed support for Obama's handling of the economy sliding 6 percentage points among Democrats and independents.

Specifically, by a wide margin, people want the president to reduce the deficit rather than "stimulate" the economy. And his auto bailout is very unpopular with a bare plurality supporting it at the moment.

On the plus side for the president, people are still confident that he can turn things around. And lest Republicans think all they have to do is run a warm body against a Democrat in 2010 to win, one poll shows Democrats with a 55% approval rating while Republicans are at 25% - hardly a clarion call for upending the political order.

I would wager that Obama's handling of the Iran crisis is winning him little support either. All in all, the end of the summer may see even the president's personal popularity plummeting as the economy continues it's sluggish and uncertain road to recovery.

interesting prediction, i guess a short time will tell. i must say i am divided on his iran statergery at the moment, i understand not interjecting the US into this movement as a distraction, the iranians can say we are meddling but that claim isnt getting any traction since it isnt true and there isnt the back and forth on Obama saying this or that. but the balance must be made to let the iranian people know we are strongly supporting their cause. so a tough call. as for the porkulus well we are seeing it fail and fail quickly.

It would be the first time the FTC tries to patrol systematically what bloggers say and do online.
