But if the roles were reversed and Jon spoke to Kate like she was a particlarly stupid 5 year old, the show would have been canceled in its first season.

I actually like the show up until the most recent episodes. The kids are adorable! Kate has always been an insufferable bitch and bothered me, and Jon a bit of a dolt. But the show didn't revolve around them so much.
Now it's the Kate show, and I can't stand it. With the shows popularity increasing, Kate's bitchiness and smug self importance are unbearable.
So much for thinking about the kids, with a divorce imminent, we can see they don't care enough about the kids to get counselling and work on their marriage.

I've never heard of these people and if I had, why would I care about their divorce.

I can't understand people clinging to lives of the rich and famous through their People magazines and celebrity blogs. These so called celebrities are zeroes who should be reading about our lives which are far more meaningful and fulfilling.

Jon and Kate are "our lives" -- at least they were when reality TV got a hold of them. They weren't rich or famous.

Good point and YOU GOTTA BELIEVE the whole Susan Boyle thing is a phony.

Simon Cowell is scritping this whole thing - as soon as she had a "breakdown" and got sent to a "looney bin" you HAD to know this is all a big phony contrived soap opera.

I fucking hate this show, but my roommates girlfriend watches it at our place all the time. I though, just for a second, when they said they had a "special announcment" coming I thought it would be: " We are going to stop publicly exploiting our kids and stop filming this terrible show, go get some counciling to work on our relationship, and start being good parents." The I realized I had a better shot at seeing the CUBs sweep the next 2 world series in a row before these folks did anything that was actually for the kids and not themselves.

Whats the new sho gunna be called:

1. Kate plus 8, and John on the weekends?

2. John and Kate divided by 8?

in the episode with the American Chopper crew they neede to give Jon the pink Vespa. LOL. That guy is a pathetic excuse of a man to every extent that Kate is a insipid bitch. Man I cannot vent enough abou these fuck ups.

My wife watches this crap. I tried to sit through an episode. NO THANKS. Insufferable shrew of a woman and accommodating weinie husband. And the poor kids are in the middle.

The early episodes were very good but the longer it went on the more it degenerated into just another dumb reality TV program. I stopped watching when it finally jumped the shark recently by having Emeril turn up in the house. Pity really as it could have developed into something as good as the 7 UP movies.

Kate could be a bit bitchy with Jon from time to time but with 8 young kids day after day plus a TV crew in the house who could blame her. She did it with good humor and it always seemed to me there was no real malice in her and anyway Jon, in his non-verbal way, usually gave as good as he got.

If TV morphed it into reality TV from its original documentary form then what's the problem if they were making the kind of money prime time TV performers routinely get?

I hope they make it.. I have to confess to never watching a complete episode.. but my wife loves it.. ( maybe its a TV chick flick?)

To heck with the TV show, but 8 kids need a mom and dad.. 8 kids would stress anyone, but add a TV show on top of that, even though its evidently made them a lot of money, and it has to be even worse.

I watched 10-15 minutes of the announcement show (most I've ever watched, and I'll never watch that shee again).

They are just like so many Christian pastors and they're kids.

Selfish parents that put themselves, their appearance, their careers, their money, their reputation and their agenda ahead of God, their marriage and then their kids.

And the marriages seldom last, and the kids grow up to hate their guts and rebel not only against them and their rules but against much much more.

These things should not be so.

I'm thinking Kate is the next Bachelorette. Who wouldn't want to marry a 34-year-old woman with eight small children who often leaves them behind to go on speaking appearances and promotional events out of town?

My wife and I watched the show early on when the kids were actually cute. Since then, the older twins, especially Maddy, make us want to puke.

What I don't get is.....what's up with that hairdo of Kate's???? That's about the oddest concoction ever.

Also, Jon goes and gets hair plugs, and now he's going bald on top in the back of his head. Jon's about an unmotivated slug, and Kate is a phony domineering bitch.

I feel sorry for the sextuplets. They're in for a plunge as this thing unravels. Expect bankruptcy in a couple years. Betchya.
