The chief executive officer of computer maker Apple, Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave since January to take care of an undisclosed medical condition, has received a liver transplant in Tennessee, The Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper said the transplant took place about two months ago, and Jobs has been recovering well and was expected to return to work on schedule later this month. However, the Apple CEO may initially work part-time.

An apple a day....

This guy is okay, even though i don't care for mac stuff. I hope he recovers and is back soon.

I wonder if he got a redneck liver? We'll know soon if he comes out with a product called 'I-beer'.

Lip you're crazy if you don't copy right that, right Now...

'I-beer'

People who receive liver transplants have to agree to never drink alcohol again.

How about iBull, an energy drink?

I didn't know that. Well, there goes one potential liver recipient off the list. Yo me gusta Patron

I didn't know that

Yep.

They don't want you coming back for a retread at $250K per liver and lots of other folks on the waiting list.

VERY FUNNY

I guess Papa John did not read the fine print.

Anyone see the movie "The Island". It's a business where organs are removed from healthy living humans as replacements for wealthy billionaires (a la Steve Jobs) who pay exhorbitant fees. Or, like in China, maybe this liver was harvested from a disfavored political activist, and reaped a huge profit for the Camp commandant.

Tell that to Larry Hagman & Mickey Mantle.

top of the list, now.

Did he get it with onions?

They can't make you not drink, of course, but if you do you are not eligible for another transplant if the first one goes bad.

When you get on the list for transplant, they begin monitoring your urine for alcohol. You must stay completely clean for at least six months before the surgery.

If you test positive during that period, you are off the list and a dead man.

"Steve Jobs Had Liver Transplant"

And why not? Version 2.0 has always worked out better for him...

- iBeer is already an app on the iphone.
- Steve Jobs does not not drink any alcohol. He drinks water.

better then the blue screen of death.

Jobs is a tough man but I wish him the best of recoveries. Steve,

It's the new iLiver

LOL, the iLiver filters the body, performs its own dialysis, and plays MP3s!

no doubt he has a design team working on this right now

i had to laugh though.

Mostly because every time someone says that they have problems with their liver i always remember the episode of beavis and butthead where they were trying to fake an accident for an insurance claim or something like that.

Beavis is wandering around clutching at his neck Screetching

AHH AHH MY LIVER!

ahh priceless

Ha ha.

My best friend of over 20 years died two years ago of liver failure. He too had had pancreatic cancer. The cancer was removed and he was "cured". about 5 year slater the cancer came back in his liver. The cancer he had was slow growing (not the typical pancreatic cancer) and he would have lived for many many more years if he could have gotten a transplant. But..

He was NOT ELIGIBLE for a transplant. They do not give transplants to people with pancreatic cancer. The only way would be in a foreign hospital with a potentially harvested liver (as #8 points out).

How the hell did Jobs get a liver transplant in TENNESSEE?

This capitalism thing has gone way too far when good people die and rich people buy their organs. I know it happens, but we're just sitting here watching it.

Didn't Larry Hagman and David Crosby each get a new one twice?

EXCEPTION to the above in Sect 2.1; par 2. clause 3 of USA liver transplant guidelines: All of the above restrictions apply for those of non-celebrity status, and means tested to be of average income. If you are considered by the Board of Deciders to be well known, of celebrity and of means, then said restrictions are waived and you jump to the top of the waiting list.

#23 - Donner I know, I know - "Donner means 'thunder'" and all that jazz but take a look at your post and your handle. LOL

Now I'm going to enjoy a nice glass of Chianti...

Steve Jobs is a big-time libbie, with over 99% of his donations going to Dumbos. Are you suggesting maybe that he had one of his bought-and-paid-for libtards bump him to the top of the list? That the rules don't apply to him, because not only is he very rich, but he's now part of the politically well-connected?

Suits me. Right now Goldman Bankers are enjoying their taxpayer-funded bonuses. Why should Jobs be any different, right?
