Who needs a missile defense shield?

Are we really prepared to go all out on this?

If NK was actually foolish enough to attack the US, it would be over quickly for them. Unfortunately, the North has could still do a lot of damage to the South in that time, particularly Seoul.

What I hope to see is the US shoot the missile out of the sky should it turn toward Hawaii. There would be some semblance of legitimacy in doing it (even if the missile probably couldn't reach the islands), and it would be a strong demonstration to the North. Also, make a big deal of moving some submarines off the NK coast, maybe a carrier group as well. Let them know that their government is never more than a couple of minutes away from a decapitation strike.

I doubt NK is going to invade anyone let alone find a missile to deliver a warhead.

I do agree with the navy build-up you propose Zombie, I am not sure if missile shields actually work. They didn't when I was in the Navy and I participated in those exercises as a radar/combat guy...

When the quality of NK's workmanship is taken into account, their own capitol is in just as much danger as Hawaii. They have yet to have a missle perform in the longer range flights. What they have done is cause some politicians(sorry) to wet their pants and given some military men a chance to deploy some expensive anti-ballistic missile technology that has yet to perform as it was advertised.

They are really upping the ante that they will want from the US in exchange for stopping. They should be up to quite a few billion by now. How many barrels of refined oil will it take this time in addition to the money? Another nuke test will surely add a few more mega-bucks.

While Zombie actually makes a reasonable post for someone so uninformed, but these moves are best done in an escalating manner.

The missile ship first goes to Hawaii -- American soil. If the NorKors ratchet things up, then the ship goes to Midway.

The U.S. already has ships that routinely cruise the region, plus permanent forces as close as South Korea and Okinawa that could reach North Korea in a matter of minutes.

FRENCHFRYMAN-Your comment is a virtual word for word of what I have been saying since forever. Kimmy wants money and is faking a bunch of technology that isn't there.(his missile tests end far to early for any good info etc...) His "nukes have so little power that even US admin sources say they are really just flops.
