Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

As graduate Justin Denney made his way across the stage of the civic center in Standish Maine to receive his diploma, he bowed and then blew his Mom a kiss. Immediately afterward the Principal told Denney that there was "no fooling around" and then asked him why he thought he deserved his diploma. His reply was, "Because I worked hard and I earned it." She told him "no" and that he needed to go sit down.

"David Hopkins, chairman of the Board of Directors for School Administrative District 6, says the goal of Monday's meeting is to figure out how to make graduation better. He says parents and students need to decide whether they want a "refined event" or "a circus." "

www.bangordailynews.com

Mr Hopkins needs to figure out if it's his ass or a hole in the ground that he has his head in.

What a heinous bitch.

You have to love those liberal public schools.

Bonny Eagle High School, of course, shut down their website.

that's funny cause in 2004, Standish voted for Bush over Kerry. strange how little facts can get in the way of your argument.

Doubtless a dues-paying member in great standing of the American Education Association.

the mother needs to rip the face off the principal - score settled.

"Yes, as a Christian I do realize that rules are rules but if God had sent Moses down the Mount with stone tablets that vaguely said, "Don't misbehave" then wouldn't we all be up the creek with only a paddle and no canoe?"

My God why do these people feel the need to point out they're "Christian?" No one gives a fuck.

Oh, and these school admins should lose their jobs.

It is a sad fact that teachers and many others in the educational system tend to be "Rulebook Rangers". This type looks for and upon finding even the smallest deviation lands hard with both feet. It really is a sad commentary on our school system that those doing the teaching are very frequently those most in need of learning. A favorite example of mine is the final term paper for a given class is responsible for a high percentage of the entire grade for the class. A total of three puntuation or spelling errors will reduce the grad by one entire level. The level of impotence that spelling and punctualtion have in the grand scheme of Geology just isn't there yet you can fail an entire clsdd because of it. This is just plain not right.

I remember our class tossing their caps in the air at the award ceremony (the night before the graduation ceremony). The auditorium was brought to silence and they led our class into classrooms.

There, the teachers told us we weren't getting our diplomas and weren't graduating because of our behavior.

I am still sickened by that act. We all earned our diplomas. We did our time and met the State requirements.

The school system still acts this way today. Even college had its problems with instructors declaring a failure if they didn't like your last report.

Total BS. I earned my grades and I hated teachers that pulled this crap.

I really wish the State Legislature would make it possible to sue a teacher that withholds or threatens to withhold that which is earned.

If you work 40 hours and you are supposed to get paid, you can sue the employer for not doing so.
I think school systems should have some legal requirement to grant what is earned despite a teacher's ridiculous position.

Our graduation rehearsal was held at a notional park the day before "senior skip day". When were done I drove my Jeep out the Entrance of the parking lot. I met a car coming in and drove around him. Two days later(the day before graduation) I was back at school and was met by by two Park Rangers and was told I was facing three federal tickets for running the Park Director off the road. I did have witness that testified as to what happened. I came real close to not being able to graduate.

...it seems to be a southern thing. My two kids graduated in New York and we cheered and clapped. My kids waved and showed the auditorium how proud they were. It was a very happy time and everyone enjoyed that day. I believe in Rock Hill SC, several parents were arrested for cheering when their child's name was called. How awful. Something needs to be done with this crazy power trip these schools are on.....I'm glad I don't have to put up with that pettyness.......

I would rather the public schools be run by the first 200 people in the Boston phone book than these folks.

Public schools are atrocious now a days.

The leaders and the teachers are all in it for the wrong reasons.

The unions promote subpar teachers and then you can't get rid of them.

They molest the children and then send them to another district to molest some more.

What is new?

No dodge ball
No touching at all
No gum
No aspirin
No free ice cream
And no blowing your Mom a kiss on the best day of your life.

violence or lude acts

I would have thought the ludes would have prevented any actions altogether. Hopefully the writer isn't representative of the school's teaching abilities.

Nice to see Muffy manages to turn a management fuck-up into the union's fault, though. Probably got that from the hate whitey tapes put out by the NEA.

You have to love those liberal public schools.

Sorry, but the decorum-uber-alles troops traditionally are on the right.

Public schools are atrocious now a days.

MURPHY-I felt during my school days that I was wasting most of the time I spent at school. I feel the same today only more so. School had little or no relevancy to the real world and was of no use to me. Again, I feel the same now.

If school isn't bringing in more subject matter that is worth while, then shorten it and get it over. College (University) was little f any improvement. During a 4 year degree, you have maybe 15-20% of your classes relevant to your major. Meaning as much as 80% of what you study will not benefit you in you choosen field. This is stupid. They say that school teaches you to learn and work. I don't need to learn so much as to DO! That is the major problem with schools today, that teach little about the real world and how to get along in it.

Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (Waters) 3:56

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

we dont have an article btw we have a blog a very biased blog.

Some POSSIBLE things that could have impacted graduation.

the kids doing the act could have been a serious wise ass, spending 4 years harrassing his teachers and fellow students and was specifically warned on how to act and disregaded the rules.

the school's previous graduations could have been hijacked by all sorts of hijinks etc.

If you were the parent of the kid after this one and couldnt see your kid graduate cause this kid was behaving like an ass, you might be pissed.

just some things to think about.

"Why do these people feel the need to point out they're Christians? No one gives a fuck..."

Self-retorting retort. Knew I'd find one someday.

Not really. Unless you want to be obtuse and think that my pointing out "Christian"s constant need to point their religious persuasions out as giving two shits about their beliefs as opposed to...well...pointing out that "Christians" have a constant need to point out their religious persuasions.
