China's stimulus projects must use domestically made goods, a move made by the government after it criticized the United States' "Buy American" stimulus provisions. "Government investment projects should buy domestically made products unless products or services cannot be obtained in reasonable commercial conditions in China," says a June 1 order from the government planning agency.

Time to put up barriers to Chinese goods, that country is bankrupting America with unfair trade practices. When will America wake up???

.....how much cheap plastic shit does a country need.....

We've been buying China for years and it hasn't helped them?

The Chinese must have read the fine print in our "Buy American" plan--it doesn't apply to all the trillions of dollars worth of bonds we expect the Chinese to buy from us.

"The Chinese must have read the fine print in our "Buy American" plan"

OH, the one they took out of the bill.

So much for China's booming economy being a result of following "free market" policies as some rtards around here claim.

Pretty ironic that China will overtake the U.S. using keynesian economics.

They'll just kill themselves eating all that lead.

it doesn't apply to all the trillions of dollars worth of bonds we expect the Chinese to buy from us.

Don't make it seem like China is doing us a favor. There is no safer investment vehicle than US treasury bonds.

Plus, China still has a debt to settle with the US. It is the costs of the US invading Iraq and liberating the oil fields (for china and Exxon - we have an interest also).

The oil pipeline from the Middle East to China needs to be built. Governments need to be bought. Armies need to be bribed.

You watch, by this time next year, everybody will have forgot about all this.

What does it take to get Americans angry anyway????

turn off the internet and watch them swarm out like bees

I think the BRIC countries are jumping the gun and their protectionist activities may end up hurting them in the long run. The US is about to make big investments in alternative fuel production which could end up being a benefit to our economy.

U.S. protectionism BAD!

Chinese protectionism GOOD!

--Wal-Mart shoppers everywhere.

They are a net exporter.....bad move. They lose in a trade war.

ran outside to see if donkeys were flying, danni said something i agree with!!!

"Time to put up barriers to Chinese goods, that country is bankrupting America with unfair trade practices. When will America wake up???"

Typical Lib Rhetoric bordering on caveman thought processes.

DANNI, you are an imbecile.

I know the reason you don't like it. The reason you don't like anything imported is because the democrats can't fucking REGULATE IT.

What the fuck is with you stupid Democrats? What gives you the mother fucking right to tell me what prices I can charge for shit I am selling?

What gives you the right to tell my company who I can hire, who I can fire, what benifits I can offer, what insurance I offer and what prices I can sell my products at?

You have no right. And if you keep pushing BULLSHIT policies of facist/socialist policies you are going to start the next civil and world war.

You better fucking think and use your head before you start forcing pricing and regulation on every business on earth. Because it will never work, never has and its doomed to fail.

But liberals don't know this, because they repeat failed history on a daily basis.

BOOT TO THE HEAD.

Kuma

KUMA all I am suggesting is that we use tariffs just like we have for the entire history of this country to protect manufacturing which is a national security issue BTW you stupid ass.

So much for China's booming economy being a result of following "free market" policies as some rtards around here claim.

You wouldn't know free market if it sat on your face and danced.

You are truly stupid. I love the way you twist history to fit your agenda and act all smart doing so.

Tariffs are great right? You know nothing...BOY.

www.butthenwhat.com

DANNI, you are truly, and I mean utterly stupid.

Tarrifs HURT the country imposing them, and always have, everywhere they are imposed you FREAKING MORON.

Man, you know nothing!

economics.about.com

That is BASIC, BASIC economics.

In fact, import Tariffs are largely responsible for the collapse of GM.

Man, you know jack shit about anything, you are just dumb. You must have a 90 IQ. Which isn't surprising since you evolved from a monkey with a 60 IQ.

And even after I just showed you the TIP of the iceberg regarding tariffs, you STILL won't change your mind because you are a political HACK.

BOOT TO THE MOUTH.

Study after study show tariffs are way bad. Which doesn't surprise me Democrats are FOR THEM. They are bad. Bad wants bad.

Kuma

"Study after study show tariffs are way bad."

For who???
Nike???

You don't know what you are talking about, as usual.

Kuma,

weigh weigh bad, you stupid shit, weigh weigh bad, moron IQ of 60 and you don't know what you're talking about.

""Study after study show tariffs are way bad."

You're full of shit, Kuma. The U.S. turned into an industrial power using protectionism. During the first half of the 20th century it had the highest tariffs in the industrial world.

From your link KUma...

"The sales of domestic producers should also rise, all else being equal. The increased production and price causes domestic producers to hire more workers which causes consumer spending to rise. The tariffs also increase government revenues that can be used to the benefit of the economy."

In fact, import Tariffs are largely responsible for the collapse of GM.

Yes, if we could only lift them from Japan, china, Korea and europe GM would be doing better.

The only people who benefit from free trade are the corporations who buy cheaply in china goods made with cheap labor that they then bring here and sell for huge profits.

Ex....Nike.....$200. sneakers that cost less than $5 to make.

Kuma,

Your article assumes a level playing field. There is no where in the world less level than the US playing field.

We open our borders to anyone and everyone and yet when met by protectionisim we ignore it.

Teriffs would allow the worker to make more, thus spending more not spending less.

China's "buy China" policy is bad for everyone because it lowers competition and raises the cost of goods. We all lose.

Forgotton more than libs will ever knoW Thom

"China's "buy China" policy is bad for everyone because it lowers competition and raises the cost of goods."

This policy is actually going to be good for everyone except China because it finally calls attention to the fact that they have never had a real free trade policy with us. It was free one direction only. Now, more Americans are going to realize that "free trade" is really "chump trade" for America.

Why don't we trade our toxic assets for their toxic products.

I love liberals. They completely ignore all the bad things about a topic, and result to ignoramous arguments like:

"LOOK AT NIKE!"

WOW that tells us a lot.

I will join your idiot line of reasoning.

LOOK AT TIGER WOODS.

LOL to go google, see the thousands of articles on how bad tariffs are.

But Kuma is full of shit huh? And your argument is Nike makes money off sneakers?

LOL is that all you fucking got?

I reference deep, decade long research and you say Nike makes money off shoes.

Wow, I feel like I am arguing with children. And, really I am.

Hey Money war. How is your monkey? Erm...I mean your Wife?

Kuma

The Chinese sound like the drudge righties with their Buy Chinese, not American position.

"But Kuma is full of shit huh?"

Kuma full of shit.

The Chinese sound like the drudge righties with their Buy Chinese, not American position.

That's a mighty big brush you have there.

We have followed policies of "free trade" and REaganomics for the past 30 years, the country is bankrupt, unemployment is rising, our dollar is weakening and people like KUMA say....let's do more of it.
Some people are slow learners,
some people are incapable of learning,
then there's KUMA.

What does it take to get Americans angry anyway????

I was pretty angry when they added that Buy American clause just to pander to stupid voters while knowing full well it would be removed.

I'm sure the Chinese are glad the US Congress gave them cover for this move, though.

When will America wake up???

#1 | Posted by danni at 2009-06-17 09:04 AM

It's already to late. The time to have woken up is several decades in the past.

I was pretty angry when they added that Buy American clause just to pander to stupid voters while knowing full well it would be removed.

LOL!

Just try and buy American. Clothes....nope. Shoes....nope. It is getting so bad that even difficult to buy food that is grown here in America.

Good point, Moneywar. Guess it was double-pandering.

Clothes....nope. Shoes....nope.

Maybe so, but we've got these really cool "innovative financial products". Can't beat our financial entrepreneurs...

WE don't have to buy chinese. They make shoes and clothes all over the world.Buy Vietnamese or Indonesion,I'm sure there are many African companies that are reasonable.Reopen the factories in Mexico that have been closed to save a few more cents for the corporate world.

I don't want to make shoes in a factory,thanks

Buy Vietnamese or Indonesion,I'm sure there are many African companies that are reasonable.

Where? How?

Even I get only Pakistani and Chinese shoes.

Looks like nobody else on the planet makes shoes anymore. LOL (I am sure that isn't the case, but...)

WalMart Concurs!!!

Funny isn't it but WalMart and most other large U.S.retailers also have this exact same "Buy China" rule!!!

Looking to history, does anyone present know why the US looked to an outside-the-border consumer base in the first place?

Our production was exceeding our consumption. In order to continue economic growth, we had to look beyond just our nation.

Yes, said expansion has had its pitfalls to be sure. Protectionism would be even worse though.

Looking to history, does anyone present know why the US looked to an outside-the-border consumer base in the first place?

I don't know if you pay attention much but we are not outside the border consumer base...it is the other way around. But if interested look up GATT. (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1947). If memory serves from high school it started as General armistice trade treaty.

Our production was exceeding our consumption. In order to continue economic growth, we had to look beyond just our nation.

We are the consumers of the world, production if by what you say should be here in huge numbers, but it is strange, OUR production skill is now in China and yet WE are the consumers....This isn't 1975.

Yes, said expansion has had its pitfalls to be sure. Protectionism would be even worse though.

Really, we had tariffs until 1994 when they remove GATT, and in 1979 is when it paved the way to do so.

Again, what is the US auto industry problem....they can't sell their cars because those countries restrictions.....and wow, it is working for them.

I just don't understand your problem in understanding this, you keep holding on to that old school classical false paradigm about tariffs. Stop the corporate pandering mongering and look at the benefit of the country and not the corporation.

"Looking to history, does anyone present know why the US looked to an outside-the-border consumer base in the first place?

Our production was exceeding our consumption. In order to continue economic growth, we had to look beyond just our nation."

Even if that were the real reason it sure doesn't matter now because after decades of Free Trade our production isn't even close to our consumption.
Here's a clue Jeff (and you need one badly), when a country imports more than it exports it is an imbalance of trade and it is how countries go broke. Sound familiar???

What so few understand or are willing to admit, is that we have free trade which benefits one group specifically, big corporations who import goods made with slave wage labor. These corporations do not care about the United States, its people or its future yet we allow them, through lobbyists, to control our future. Those who continue to argue for free trade today are either actually working for those corporations or just too dumb to recognize that our country is being sold down the river by the richest people in the country. Continue on this path and it won't be long before foreigners will own most of our own country.

Well, two can play this protectionist game...

Once again, th e American public, as represented by the people on DR are standing, looking at a tree with a microscope and trying to understand the forest.

typical.

Time to put up barriers to Chinese goods

Careful. The ghost of Sam Walton will haunt you.

But Kuma is full of shit huh?

Yes.

"Careful. The ghost of Sam Walton will haunt you."

Sam Walton would help us do it, it's his greedy kids who want to trade with the Chinese Communists though today they are probably more rightly Chinese Fascists.

All you got is I am full of shit in 10 posts?

You see, I am right again, and again and again.

You liberals just can't argue. You have nothing.

All you have is"

1) Nike makes money off shoes.
2) Kuma is full of shit.

Boy, I reference research done for decades, very well done studies, and you have #1 and #2.

Do you actually understand the arguments? Or is all you can think of #1 and #2?

Also, did you know you are a fucking hypocrite, because I guarantee your house and what you are wearing is probably at least 50% outsourced goods.

I bet you think GM, FORD, etc are buying American, which Honda, Toyota, Subaru, etc are foreign and anti-American for buying.

Some of those car companies you call foreign have a greater % of american made parts in them than mother fucking ford or GM.

And Wallmart, employs more than anyone, is a HUGE stimulus for the USA, and a good % of its good are from China.

Lets tariff the shit out of China, great idea. Since you dumb liberals don't understand ever action causes a re-action, you will see what happens.

Free trade is the only way.

Kuma

"And Wallmart, employs more than anyone, is a HUGE stimulus for the USA, and a good % of its good are from China."

You idiot, Walmart is just a retailer. If they didn't sell the goods then someone else would and the employees would be working for them. Retail does not create jobs or wealth, manufacturing creates jobs and wealth. You probably won't understand my point, it is probably over your head but it is a simple fact.
Your other points just illustrates why we need protectionism to bring jobs back to America.

Wow you are dumb.

Employing the largest amount of people in the USA outside the GOV, and you think that is bad.

Hey, genius...and this one might catch you off guard because you won't know how or what to say about it...

But...sorry pal...retailers run the world economy...because without them...there would be NO MANUFACTURING.

The more retailers we have that are successful, the more successful the manufacturers.

Your argument is that USA companies cannot compete with wallmart and we need to tax the shit out of imports.

You just can't argue more than at the 3rd grade level, but since I am an expert at deciphering liberal nonsense, I helped you out.

Kuma

Danni, to help you out, READ THIS.

www.realclearpolitics.com

I think that article makes me laugh, because its your argument exactly. The author of that article thinks the democrats will try and put tariffs on imported cars. But that won't work, so that have to go to a VAT. LOL

And guess what? None of it will work.

I will never buy a GM, or Chrysler car as long as I live as long as the GOV owns even 1% of it. In fact, ANY business the GOV owns any part of, I boycott along with millions of people like me IF WE CAN HELP IT. Some things, you have no choice.

Government ownership in anything private is bad, after all, we are not NAZI's.

Kuma

Kuma

I think it is poetic justice that the Chinese government not only is going to require that all their stimulus money be spent in China but that even American corporations who have reincorporated inside China will still be off limits. I hope those bastards lose their whole investments in China.

Here's some pie for Kuma

Right wing drivel from American Thinker, it is even linked at the bottom. Not exactly my idea of rational economic predictions, what was really funny was the pretense that this clown could predict the future so far out. Ridiculous. I want that two minutes wasted reading it back.

Never waste your time linking any source for Danni that isn't WAY left-of-center. She'll just torpedo the source itself, without actually reading it no matter what its content, just so she can avoid having her worldview challenged in any way.

I would hate to assume you didnt know this but you are aware that this is just an answer to us doing the same thing..right..
if you are aware of that and still think this thats one thing...but if you didnt, then you can reconsider your post.

REGARDLESS

HEY look I didnt write

IR REGARDLESS....pretty good huh???

if obama wants to get in a trade war with CANADA And mexico and NOW CHINA....go ahead BARRY....its not exactly the best thing for our economy though..

but DONT WORRY barry...with ABC now a part of your administration, its not like you will get any bad press over it

" would hate to assume you didnt know this but you are aware that this is just an answer to us doing the same thing..right.."

No dumb ass, we aren't. The original version of the bill had the Buy American provision, it was taken out. But thanks for playing.

"Never waste your time linking any source for Danni that isn't WAY left-of-center."

You are completely full of shit Jeff, I never object to reasonable sources but American Thinker is absolutely just propaganda and anyone with half a brain, lib or conservative knows that. If you don't then you reveal your own ignorance.

"if obama wants to get in a trade war with CANADA And mexico and NOW CHINA....go ahead BARRY....its not exactly the best thing for our economy though.."

What are they going to do, close their markets to us...er....they never opened them you dolt. The Chinese have waged trade war on the US since we first started free trade. Do you even know what a trade war is??? No, I didn't think so.

You are completely full of shit Jeff, I never object to reasonable sources but American Thinker is absolutely just propaganda and anyone with half a brain, lib or conservative knows that. If you don't then you reveal your own ignorance.

Uh huh.

So not one writer at American Thinker has ever produced even a single reasonable article?

You are so blatantly biased and convinced of YOUR-"side's" correctness that I almost pity you.

Hell, I think Michael Moore is a disingenuos propaganda artist to the nth degree, but I also believe that he has produced some writings that are worth reading.

Fact is, American Thinker is hit-and-miss.

Some writers are better than others and some of their writers have better days than others. But to just dismiss anything they produce before even giving it a chance...

"So not one writer at American Thinker has ever produced even a single reasonable article?"

Possibly, but they are all completely in agreement with corporate right wing ideology which has destroyed our economy.

they are all completely in agreement with corporate right wing ideology which has destroyed our economy.

They are not a monolithic group, Danni.

They are a mish-mash of individuals with, in a general sense, conservative values; but plenty of disagreement occurs within their ranks.

Also, you speak of economic issues in absolute terms and it really isn't that simple. Economics is called "theory" for a reason. We aren't running precisely-controlled experiments here. We are evaluating raw data and trying to determine cause-and-effect AND in the process are trying to predict human behavior, which is a very difficult task to say the least. People who view economics differently from you aren't some big, nasty cabal hell-bent on 'ruining' the economy. All of the various factions have roughly the same goals but just subscribe to different paths as to how to achieve said goals.

To lambaste American Thinker, Fox, Limbaugh, Sowell, etc. as completely incapable of EVER producing an honest thought is simply to limit your ability to process information.

Many of the AT writers absolutely lambaste crony capitalism, which is a complete contradiction to this:

"they are all completely in agreement with corporate right wing ideology"

This makes sense JEFFJ. Think about it.

what was the #1 enemy to Russia, USSR, and the Nazi's?

Their #1 enemy was CAPITALISM.

Isn't it funny that is Danni's exact argument? His enemy is Capitalism.

LOL Danni is so stupid, he doesn't even understand he is a Nazi-lite.

History has already shown, and will continue to show what ruined the economy.

a LARGE % of it, was Chris Dodd and Barney Frank for pushing through legislation that FORCED. Yes, that is right, FORCED the Banks to write loans to people they KNEW could not pay for them.

The problem with libs is they don't know shit about history.

Remember when the Democrats were hand in hand yelling about how more minorities were home owners than ever before, etc etc, and they even got Bush to say that too?

Plan backfired. Poor people are not meant to own homes, because THEY CAN'T AFFORD THEM. Thats why we have places for RENT.

Your GOVERNMENT was the reason the economy collapsed.

Plain and simple. History proves this, and it will be in the history books as well. But you, being a left wing Nazi drone, will continue to call it right wings fault.

You have no clue.

Kuma

Danni,

The AT has produced a number of good articles on the subject of man-made global warming of late.

I recently linked one of them in my userblogs - although it is REALLY long.

Don't forget Fannie Mae and Freddie mac is basically another wing of the Democratic Party. You should read all the material on those companies and how it relates to writing loans for quote "minorities" and lower income people.

Largest giver to democrats finance contributions in rank top 10. LOL

Of course, libs on here have no clue, its Bush's fault or some other shadowy right wing person who goes un-named.

Kuma

This thread is about China making their stimulus package which is much larger than ours a Buy China policy. Don't any of you righties object to that??
Don't you care that your own country is getting screwed by unfair trade practices???
Are y'all even Americans anymore???
Most of y'all don't act like it.
I think most of y'all pledge allegiance to the corporation every day and pray to a right wing God.
