Sen. John Ensign (R.-Nev.) said today at a press conference that he had an extramarital affair with a female member of his campaign staff. "Last year I had an affair. I violated the vows of my marriage," Ensign said. "It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it." He took the matter public because of a blackmail attempt, according to Politico.

Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., said he would support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

After evaluating the idea of President Bush's recommendation of such an amendment Tuesday, Ensign said he believes it is necessary "to protect the institution of marriage in America."

"In order to defend the institution of marriage, uphold the rights of individual states and maintain the will of the people, I believe we are compelled to amend our country's Constitution," Ensign said.

Well, he could act like a Democrat asswipe and pretend nothing happened, even though he had an illegitimate kid on the side, and had declared himself a presidential candidate (See John Edwards), or a heap of money was found in his refigerator (See Cold Cash Jefferson), or he killed a woman and left her for dead in the deep blue (See Ted "Soon to be Dead" Kennedy).

or he could not get re-elected (republican)

Well, at least a family values Republican wasn't forced to secretly fucking another guy for a change.

or he could get elected twice in a row and have every lefty pissing their collective panties for 8 years (republican)

Guess Moder8 was already spoken for.

Ensign said he would not mention the name of the female campaign aide involved in the affair. He described the woman and her husband as good friends.

Now THAT is funny.

Hey good buddy, mind if I fuck your wife...

Wow. Cookfish really zinged me that time.

Cookfish,

It's a legitimate criticism if the guy spoke publicly about moral values.

Democrats get a pass because they hold no moral values other than amassing power and money

Never read that headline before.

At least his wife didn't have terminal cancer and he has a shitty haircut.

You're making the mistake of listening to your own calculator again, vermin...
We DO hold Moral Values.
We just acknowledge that they can sometimes be tough to follow-(wouldn't mean much if they were easy-huh?)
Unlike rtards who LIKE to "claim" the Moral High Ground-during their campaign-then, after making a big deal of it during the campaign-screwing anything that walks(see: Henry Hyde, snoot gin-bitch, and that crowd).

Oh fuck. A calculator joke from Frank2.5.

"Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, a leading Republican"

"REPUBLICAN Sen. John Ensign of Nevada"

"Sen. John Ensign, REPUBLICAN Nevada"

Did anyone see that he was a REPUBLICAN?

I wouldn't vote for anyone who didn't have an affair.

Ensign, Gingrich and Bob Barr epitomize the NOP "do as we say, not as we do mentality".

Senator Ensign(R): "President Clinton should resign because of the Lewinsky affair."

Senator Ensign(R): "Senator Craig(R) of Idaho should resign for his disgraceful behavior in the airport restroom."

Senator Ensign(R): Voted against Gay Marriage because it hurts the meaning of Marriage in America.

SENATOR ENSIGN(R), is a fucking HYPROCRIT, like most of his members of the Republican Party.......

A politician has an extramartial affair.

RCADE -- why is this not in bold 24 font at the top of the Front Page?

read this clowns resume. he is a card carrying member in good standing of the promise keepers. hollywood cant make this crap up. And the woman lost her job, the cheap slut

I wouldn't vote for anyone who wasn't a hypocrit.

never heard of the guy...perhaps his wife will chop and channel him. the old fashioned way. hillary can give her lessons on how to stand by your man.

Yaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn.

You are correct, Celery. He is not welcome to be our VP on the 2012 ticket. BTW, did the National Enquirer break this story 1-1/2 years ago?

A Vermin calcuator joke is always valid, regardless of the poster.

That being said, what the hell is with the religous right, sitting on their high horse, telling everyone else what to think and believe, whilst dragging their own personal lives through the gooey mud usually found just behind a horse.

Lobotomies for Republicans.
It's the Law.

Meanwhile Barack Obama is bankrupting and destroying our great country faster than a speeding bullet.

Deflect democrats deflect.

Did you folks hear about Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, a conservative Republicans extramaital affair? I guess Bristol was in town. -David Letterman

"Meanwhile Barack Obama is bankrupting and destroying our great country faster than a speeding bullet."

Wow??? REally???

Was Barack Obama an Ensign in the Navy???

Yeah, I read something about an Ensign....and Obama....and something.....it was bad...socialist....bad.

Shhhh...Newt doesn't want anybody to talk about that.

"It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life."

Other than burying that hooker in that shallow grave, but that was weeks ago.

That's funny. You should immediately apologize.

That's funny. You should immediately apologize.

Shouldn't Ma Palin get a ton of media coverage first?
And a new pair of silk boxers for the Toddster? But since you brought Palin up, is Todd still good friends with the guy she banged?

That's funny. You should immediately apologize.

Why, was Willow in town? Well, heh heh, I never read what I post before I type it. But it.. was...is..I apologize. Paul Shaffer everyone...

It's okay when a Demo does it, because it's none of our damned business.

It's NOT okay when a Repubretard does it because that whole goddam party rests on hypocrisy. It's not the affair, it's the pretense that YOUR shit doesn't smell. herm

He made love to a WOMAN??
No wonder the Retort linked this. How perverse can a man get?

What a dunderhead. sigh...

He's not up for re-election in 2010.

And it's not like anyone claims to be perfect.

Great double standard though when it happens with a Dem.

Why can't politicians keep it in their pants?

Wait a minute, the chick he boned was married at the time, but he was separated. Now I know he wasn't divorced just yet, but I have to cut him a little slack. As someone who has dealt with separated couples on a regular basis, I can say there is a lot of hurt and contempt amongst separated spouses. I can easily see one or both of the parties in a separation sleeping with someone else. However, that doesn't condone sleeping with a married woman (assuming he knew she was married).

I hear there was a little blackmail involved.

Oops.

Like they say, if you bait the trap with pussy, you'll catch me every time.

Notice no Clinton is saying, "It's just about sex?"

as my dear, sweet, libtard mother would say, "ALL politicians cheat on their spouses!" nothing to see here - on to the next subject.

Nancy, with that mom, please tell us how YOU went wrong. herm

At least Celisary spelled hypocrite right this time. Fuck he uses the word every post and I'd think he would have had it down like 200 threads ago.

Anyhow, like politicians have values. The only value they have is the Fed currency their special interests give them when dues need paid.

Fucking some young campaign worker is the least of their wrong doings.

Crooks all of them. Now that is as non-partisan as it gets.

"Crooks all of them. That's as non-partisan as it gets." With that attitude, W, you deserve what you get. All that's needed for evil to prevail is for good folk to sit around saying "they're all crooks." herm

Come one Herm. Our, (MT,) state lawmakers are great. Regardless of what party they affiliate. Our very popular governor Schweitzer is a democrat.

Our Max Baucus is the 7th longest serving senator. Come last, ('08) election time he got millions from special interests that couldn't care less about Montana. He takes it. Actual Montana supporters may put out one or two hundred thousand. I don't vote for him. Anyhow, about 3 months after the '08 elections he publicly announced his divorce from his wife of 30 odd years.

I would like to see each state's government elect their federal lawmakers.

Do you really think the negative position we are in regarding our country can ultimately be blamed on "right wing extremists"? Or Bush? This has been a hundred years in the making. Our government got us here. They can try real fucking hard to get us out but it really will come down to us as people to fix this.

And as a 27 year old father of two girls I have been with my wife for 10 years. I won't toot my own horn too much but I have my values. I can't say as much for the powers that be. That said, I don't think Obama will cheat ever cheat on his wife.

So anyhow you don't know how active I am in my local and state government affairs anyway so just so you know I just sit around and complain. I sit around and complain after I get home.

By the way Herm I love you and you keep me up too late sometimes.

LOL. You libs can laugh right?

When Senator Ensign was a member of the House back in 1998, I wonder whether he voted for Clinton's Impeachment or not?

The only difference between Ensign and everyone on this blog is that our misdeeds have not been exposed; at least not as publicly. That doesn't merit a pass for Ensign; just an indictment of our hypocrisy.

The only difference between Ensign and everyone on this blog is that our misdeeds have not been exposed;

That and the fact that this asswipe makes law.

Celisary correctly noted his relevant hypocrisy in #18.

Maybe Ensign and Vitter can get together and swap stories.

So, only the "pure" are fit to serve. Who gets to determine the standard and who meets and fails to meet the standard? Certainly not you or me. Perhaps we should leave that to his constituents in the next election.

"Perhaps we should leave that to his constituents in the next election."

And we shall but still Celisary was correct on #18, Ensign is a hypocrit. There is simply no avoiding it.

As someone else said, at least she was a she (and above the age of 12)...

Ensign is a hypocrite. That being said -

"If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it. I take full responsibility for my actions," he said.

Ensign said he deeply regretted the affair and that he remains committed to his Senate duties.

So, just like bubba this is a non-issue right? He apologized, it does not affect his job performance and the voters will decide his fate next time. He did not break any laws right? Bubba signed the defense of marriage act remember? So he is a hypocrite also. - and no, not defending this guy - just know how you libs are and think that only Republicans can be hypocrites.

Again, this guy is a hypocrite - but now we move on - right libs?

no choirboys were harmed in the making of this thread...

Larry Craig

"He has no credibility left."

-- Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), quoted by the Las Vegas Sun in 1998, urging Bill Clinton to resign after he admitted an extramarital affair.

Hypocrite, yes. Also a liar apparently or he'd have resigned. But as a liberal I'm prepared to move on since it's truthfully none of my business who the guy screws. Quite a shame that the right had to spend beaucoup bucks over whom it was that Clinton slept with.

"Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, a leading Republican"

Does the political affiliation matter? Sluts abound on both sides of the political fence.

Most interesting that there are those who try to make case that one party is sluttier than other.

Many men are pigs and many women like to roll in the mud with the pigs.

But as a liberal I'm prepared to move on since it's truthfully none of my business who the guy screws.

Then you should damn well make it your business. This man, and other men and women in positions of power, are charged with (ideally) representing and protecting you, your interests, your country, your freedoms. Character does matter. Their actions in private do matter. If they cannot conduct themselves in a moral and acceptable way in their private lives, then how can they be trusted, be worthy of your trust, to make the right decisions concerning your country, your life?

. Character does matter. Their actions in private do matter. If they cannot conduct themselves in a moral and acceptable way in their private lives, then how can they be trusted, be worthy of your trust, to make the right decisions concerning your country, your life?

I agree. We can't have people in charge of our govt who live their lives with no accountablity, no regard for their actions, and somehow believe they have a permission slip to do whatever in the hell they want with no consequences.

And we wonder why our govt is so bloated and wasteful. Look at the imbeciles we put there.

This shit has to stop and that means jumping on our elected leaders for running their personal life like shit.

I don't hire anybody who runs their personal life like shit. There is no way they can do that and not drag those problems and lack of values into their professional life.

Character does matter. Their actions in private do matter.

I have trouble believing that a politician who can't keep a marriage vow will care about any promises to voters. I'd never vote for John Edwards, for instance, and I was an early supporter of his 2008 presidential campaign. I can't believe Republicans would really vote for Newt Gingrich in 2012, given the way he's treated his wives.

But, you would vote for someone who goes to Rev. Wright's Church and pals around with domestic terrorists and Tony Rezko? Good thing you have your standards and want the rest of us to follow them. Thanks.

It is truly Weird Wednesday. Billy El Cid spouts of standards and "domestic terrorists," by which he means a minister who understands the history of American race relations and a murdered physician rather than, I presume, his murderer. Would I vote for one who attends the United Church of Christ? I did ... herm

HERM steps off his transporter beam from Bizzaro world and espouses racism=understanding of history. I guess in the Bizzaro world that is the case. "us hate beauty", "us love ugliness" - HERM (Bizzaro)

How am I imposing my standards on anybody by stating my opinion?

By demeaning republicans who would vote for Gingrich - passive agressive way of forcing your standards on others. Imposition may have been harsh - bullying is more accurate.

"I can't believe Republicans would really vote for Newt Gingrich in 2012, given the way he's treated his wives."

It would depend upon the issues AND his opponent. Besides, I ain't one of his wives. If she doesn't like the way she's treated, she can leave. I'm surprised sometimes that Hillary didn't do that. By the way, you DID vote for Bill, didn't you?

Can't have it both ways. Character does count whether it's a Rep or a Dem. This guy should hang his head in shame and get the hell out of office. I'm a conservative, and he gives conservatives a bad name. If he's willing to violate one of the most sacred of bonds, what else is he willing to violate.

With that said, get rid of him and let's worry about all the real problems today. While all these republican assholes are cheating and having homosexual affairs and apparently there are conservatives willing to just overlook this, why don't we focus for now on Rangle, Geitner and all the other crooked tax evaders, the fleecing of our economy by the Community Orgainizer in Chief and his crooked, inept, inexperience staff, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and how they've totally fucked up our housing problem aided by people on BOTH sides of the ailes, bankrupt car companies being taken over by the government and the complete socialization of America?

Bigger. Fish. To. Fry. Right. Now.

Resign, Ensign, so we can stay focus on electing people that actually give a shit about this country.

If she doesn't like the way she's treated, she can leave.

They don't need outsiders.

???...You wouldn't vote for someone who had extra-marital relations? Hmmm, I guess FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, and Bill Clinton woulda ALL been outa luck for your vote then. THOSE are just the ones we know for sure.

OH DONT EVEN............

By demeaning republicans who would vote for Gingrich - passive agressive way of forcing your standards on others. Imposition may have been harsh - bullying is more accurate.

You're reading stuff into my comment that wasn't there. The statement "I can't believe Republicans would really vote for Newt Gingrich in 2012, given the way he's treated his wives." is not demeaning to Republicans. It's a prediction based on how social conservatives have voted in the past. Look at how Rudy Giuliani fared in 2008.

The suggestion that you're being bullied by that comment is absurd. This is a political forum. People are not bullying you when they express an opinion contrary to yours.

By the way, you DID vote for Bill, didn't you?

I voted for Clinton in 1996 and Perot in 1992.

But would you vote for a drug addicted Congressman who has been in and out of rehab more times than Steve Howe?

Maybe. I don't vote my morals much. I just have trouble trusting political candidates who cheat on their spouses. If Obama had that rep, I would've voted for Clinton in the Florida primary. It was already a pretty close call for me anyway.

Perot in 1992.

Lead guitarist for Yes?

Another one bites the dust! Wow I am almost feeling sorry for the Republicans.

It must really suck to be a GOPher right now.

Loyal to your wife is not even a virtue or a "norm" anymore.

Clinton got his dick sucked and fucked probably dozens of women WHILE he was President, and he is a rock star and every fucking democrat wants him back in office because all they do is say how great it was under him.

Edwards got a large % of votes from democrats and he was fucking another woman while his wife was in the hospital with cancer! LOL

1 republican sleeps with some whore, and all of a sudden its a SIN.

Let me tell you Democrats something. SHUT YOUR MOUTH, you hypocrite little babies.

After all, you are the party who thinks guys putting their dicks up other guys hairy asses is now a virtue and should be rewarded.

Idiots.

Kuma

So he was committing adultery with a staffer?
That would be sexual harassment by definition.

1 republican sleeps with some whore, and all of a sudden its a SIN.

I should think that even fellow Republicans, at least the ones that call themselves Christians, might view adultery as a sin. It is directly forbidden by God, after all.

This Dem is actually more surprised than outraged. Not that an (R) politician cheated on his wife, but that it was with another woman.

That Kuma is a pleasant sort.

That Kuma is a pleasant sort.

LOL!!!

Huh, I find this highly questionable, he's obviously spinning out this laughable story to cover up his dick sucking hobby. He's been seen under the stall too many times!

Oh. I see.

Hey YAV, MONEYMONKEY, and DANNI.

Link me to your outrage when your PAL Edwards was sticking his dick up another woman when his dear wife was in the hospital with cancer?
