you wonder if they watched the towers and pentagon get hit on closed circuit TV. he wasn't talking about flight 93 either. it was flight 77.

www.youtube.com

oh geeeez - does wishing make it so? wtf is this - disneyland? cue "when you wish upon a star" music.

Sounds like any number of the drudge righties here, like aflacrasputin.

Cheney was watching flight 77, probably eating popcorn and wearing a party hat, doing lightning quick calculations of all the money Halliburton was about to earn, as it crashed into the Pentagon, the most secured and protected building in the world and did nothing to stop it from happening.

Strike the "almost" and the headline would be accurate.

Cheney wrote an editorial in which he proclaimed the need for a "Pearl Harbor Event" in order to implement the PNAC agenda.

Wow. A pivate citizen criticizes the Obama administration, and the head of the CIA attacks him?! Welcome to the all the hope and change that you can fit through the eye of the needle. And of course the lefties actually SUPPORT this!
Hypocrisy alert!!

Wow, the left is bitching about Cheney who is out of office but never had an issue when the likes of Kerry, Reid and Murtha hoped and prayed we would lose the war during the Bush admin.

That's because the left embraces losers and defeatists, and considers them to be honorable heroes. A downright shameful bunch.

Wow the right is bitching about Kerry, Reid and Murtha?

Wow wow and another wow.

Strike the "almost" and the headline would be accurate.

Exactly. Cheney and the other neocons are hoping for an attack that might save their discredited and insane foreign policy schemes.

Cheney no longer is VP - he is a private citizen that is entitled to speak his opinions. Why do lefties hate free speech? Obama is such a pussy that he can't go head to head with Cheney, so he assigns the job to his lapdog at the CIA that is afraid for his job. Hope & Change, change & hope. Yup.

Cheney should STFU before Bill Clinton starts telling the nation about the warnings he and his administration gave to Bush and Cheney who promptly ignored them. Cheney saying we are less safe under Obama seems to think we have all already forgotten 9-11 which happened even though that administration had been warned repeatedly.

"A pivate citizen criticizes the Obama administration"

Cookie conveniently pretends this is just another "private citizen" and not one of the assholes who got us into this mess.

Cheney no longer is VP - he is a private citizen that is entitled to speak his opinions.

And we're entitled to ridicule him. Just as we were when he was Public Citizen Number Two.

If that's your definition of hating free speech, your brain needs an enema.

Yeah, that Bill Clinton sure took care of those nasty Al Queda guys, didn't he, Danni? How many missles did he waste on an abandoned school? Why do you hate free speech when it's opposed to your viewpoint?

Cheney no longer is VP - he is a private citizen that is entitled to speak his opinions.

You wouldn't, by any chance, be one of those who have slammed Clinton and/or Carter for their remarks about the Bush Administration as "private citizens", would you?

Danforth pretends that free speech doesn't apply to everybody, and doesn't want anyone that disagrees with him to be able to voice their views without the CIA attacking them. Danforth is a liberty-hating nimrod and a hypocrite.

DICK CHENEY, is a fucking BORE an just should STFU, but his triads will in the end only help the Democrats, this will be good.....AN YES THIS FUCK WANT THE U.S. TO BE ATTACKED TO PROVE HIS POINT, DUSGUSTING!!!!! These Fucks were on the watch to keep America safe when 9/11 happened, even after warnings they did nothing, now this fuck wants to tell the Country how well they did, FUCK YOU DICK CHENEY, GOOD NOW I FEEL BETTER......

Danforth pretends that free speech doesn't apply to everybody, and doesn't want anyone that disagrees with him to be able to voice their views without the CIA attacking them. Danforth is a liberty-hating nimrod and a hypocrite.

So then, no one in the Bush Administration responded back to Clinton or Carter criticisms?

For this statement Leon Panetta is a moron.

You wouldn't, by any chance, be one of those who have slammed Clinton and/or Carter for their remarks about the Bush Administration as "private citizens", would you?

Nope. Sorry numbnuts, try again. I've slammed Carter because he has no couth, and is a pussy that embarassed our country by letting a bunch of third world assholes hold our counrty hostage. I've slammed Bill Clinton because he embarrassed the office of the president, and lied to Congress. But I never said they should have the CIA go after them like you liberty-haters do. You are cowards and hypocrites of the worst magnitude. Especially Danforth.

#19

Cookie has obviously lost his tether to reality.

"I've slammed Carter because he has no couth"

So Cheney gets a pass?

" I've slammed Bill Clinton because he embarrassed the office of the president"

And Cheney gets a pass?

"You are cowards and hypocrites of the worst magnitude. Especially Danforth."

And Cheney gets a pass?

BTW, Cookie...you need to buy a dictionary. You're making up definitions again.

Wow, the left is bitching about Cheney who is out of office but never had an issue when the likes of Kerry, Reid and Murtha hoped and prayed we would lose the war during the Bush admin.

It was more like a frayed string, really.

here's how much Bush/cheney cared:

A CIA briefer flew to Bush's Texas ranch, where the President was spending a well earned 5 week va cation after being in office for 6 months, amid a flurry of reports of a pending al-Qaeda attack, to call the president's attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US." Bush heard the briefer out and replied: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."

a month later, we all know what happened.

So, as your hero might say, all you apologists and Cheney supporters can go fuck yourselves.

"It is now acceptable to slander 14 year olds on national TV, and to have the CIA attack private citizens for expresssing their opinions. Hope and Change. Change and hope. Yup."

--The DR Left

When so much of a new president's rhetoric is based on criticizing the previous administration, we're bound to have distractions like this. Sad and unnecessary. Time for both parties to move on.

According to the article, Penetta said it and Joe Biden agreed which automatically makes it wrong.

"It is now acceptable to slander 14 year olds on national TV"

I love it when righties have the guts to actually parade their ignorance.

Cookie was obviously really personally affected by the Palin daughter thing. He's always been the sensitive type, you know.

All the spit swapping.... it must be contagious.

And to be fair, I think it was Afkabibble that snapped first.

Tell me how this ok, SanAntnio? Why do you support the CIA stifling free speech? Please explain. And danforth, you dishonest piece of crap - you too. How is it OK for this to happen? Please answer without your usual deflections.

His speech wasn't stifled dumbass or we wouldn't be having this inane argument.

"Why do you support the CIA stifling free speech? "

What a putz.

The guy who got us into the mess has every right to bloviate all he wants. And the head of the CIA should have the free speech rights to tell him he's an asshole.

Why do you support stifling the CIA head's free speech?

Tell me how this ok

#38 | Posted by cookfish at 2009-06-15 12:47 PM

Yo dawg! it ok.

"Wow. A pivate citizen criticizes the Obama administration, and the head of the CIA attacks him?!"

I think he probably dug his won ditch with the CIA when he betrayed one of their agents.

Cheney has already proven he's on board with sacrificing American lives to prevent having to admit he's wrong. After we invaded Iraq without a plan and for reasons that were later proven false, did Cheney and the rest say "OK, no WMDs here, no reason to be here, sorry about that... everyone can come home"? No. That would involve admitting they made a mistake. So they just changed the justification for their war to "spreading democracy" and Americans continue to die there, serving no national goals for the US in the process, and he never had to say he was wrong.

He'd wake up and shoot a GI in the face every morning if it meant never being called out for being wrong. He's already proven that's the kind of guy he is.

Why do you support the CIA stifling free speech? Please explain.

#38 | Posted by cookfish

I don't and they didn't.

Next question.

Somebody better call a wambulance for Cookfish. He appears to be cracking up. Sorta sad and funny at the same time.

The hurtful remarks made by the compassionate lefties here just reflect their frighteneing intolerance to other viewpoints. When they can't stand on their own, they call the CIA to enforce their intolerance. Shame shame shame. I'd expect this behavior from an irrelevant ankle biter like Corky, but it is very disappointing to see that in everybody else here. Hypocricy reigns supreme.

Now we've gone and made him cry.

Cheney needs a little time in a torture chamber. After a few hours he will learn to keep his mouth shut.

Panetta said of Cheney's remarks: "It's almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it's almost as if he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point. I think that's dangerous politics."

That is Panetta's opinion. Opinions are like ass holes. Everyone has one and most of them stink. Cheney never said that. So, how can you say Cheney is getting a pass?

-I'd expect this behavior from an irrelevant ankle biter like Corky

Translation: Someone who kicks my ass on a regular basis and whose size 13 shoe never gets stuck.

Why do you support stifling the CIA head's free speech?

You don't see the difference between the CIA and a private citizen? You are a dope, aren't you?

Sounds kinda insincere, Cookie, coming from someone who prefers making racist comments about the Pres wife to taking on the Pres.

You don't see the difference between the CIA and a private citizen? You are a dope, aren't you?

I'll ask you again. Are you saying that no Bush Administration official ever responded back to criticisms or actions by either Carter or Clinton?

Corky, the fact that you have to make a sad comment like that shows how much I'm in your head. What passes for currency in that little world you live in?

#26 It was on the national news for eight years SouthGirl

-I'm in your head

You wish. Last time it was my pants you wanted in, now it's my head.

Why don't you wander back over to the Gorilla thread and continue with your racial slurs. You are much better at that.

I'll ask you again. Are you saying that no Bush Administration official ever responded back to criticisms or actions by either Carter or Clinton?

Show me where they used the CIA as attack dogs, slappy. That IS what we're talkin about, isn't it?

They need to sick the IRS on Cheney. Fuck him up with some serious audits and then lock him up when they find something wrong. They always do. Let's see how long Cheney lasts in Gen Pop at a major Fed Prison.

"Show me where they used the CIA as attack dogs, slappy. That IS what we're talkin about, isn't it?

I don't know - what's your evidence of this, as opposed to it just being Panetta's opinion? (I'm guessing you have none, zilch, nada.) Am I right?

Laura Bush was very diplomatic the other day saying that her husband wasn't commenting on the Obama admin because he was a man of "grace". She had been asked about Cheney's comments.

So many losers in one place...

Monte, no one is talking to you. If I wanted an idiot's feedback, I'd keep talking to Danforth. Go back to your hovel and lick your stamp collection again.

At least dojo diva here isn't afraid to express his honest opinion, even though it's scary as usual. The rest of you are hypocrites.

Aw, c'mon, Cookie. Just because Spud and I called you on your poo-packing last night?

You are better at making racial slurs against the First Lady than you are discussing politics. You should just stick to what you are good at.

Stay classy Cookie - we expect nothing less.

Corky, you suck at everything, and will therefore not be allowed anywhere near my zipper.

I remember when the fish had at least a modicum of wit about his posts. Seems like so long ago.

Now it's just racial slurs against wives and third grade reject insults. More's the pity.

Shameful that lefties approve of the CIA attacking private citizens. Shame shame. This must be the "change" part of "hope & change," right? So much for free speech in the Obama years. His robots will do his evil bidding. Hopefully they give Corky an upgrade to make it funny or at least comprehensible.

Does anybody other than Cookfish comprehend how one politician making a snide comment about another politician equates to a stifling of free speech?

It seems to be the embodiment of free speech... and here we are, freely speaking about it.

I'm not seeing a downside here.

Anyone?

Of course, most ex-VP's have more intelligence, grace, and patriotism than to attack a new President in an effort to cover his ass against being seen as the worst VP since Spiro Agnew.

But as long as he is Cookie's hero, that has to count for something.

There are plenty of replies from Bush folks regarding criticism from Carter and Clinton.

But Panetta is using the Alinsky Rule #13 in his comments and alleging he can read the mind of Cheney.

But it was approved by Obama--so it's ok.

So just to clarify...

High ranking officials of previous administrations of both parties have been critical of a sitting administration.

Officials of the sitting administration have fired back criticizing the former officials.

But its only bad now, but not before, because NOW its only because they're blindly following Obama

Got it.

Uh, no. Left and Right are a forced illusion. We all pretty much know that 9/11 had inside "help". Whom, where and how are continually being pieced together and regurgitated, but with NO proper investigations during the BushCo we are naturally going to require that essential process begun! Thousands of Americans, but more importantly, all of the world witnessed a horrific precision attack that has a flimsy excuse wrapped around lies. Cave-dwelling Osama Bin Laden had friends and they apparently had a vast network of covert military operatives.

redlightrobot,

Why would they need inside help for 9-11. Once you find the people willing to do it, not really that difficult to pull off.

Find 20 guys willing to die, buy some tickets, take control of the planes and crash them into buildings. The most difficult part was training 3 guys to fly them and go unnoticed which isn't really that difficult either (then not now). You don't need some grand conspiracy for it, pretty straight forward and simple to execute.

Yup.

By what means are they doing that? Again what do you have against free speech?

Oh right, cuz it makes you look like a loon. I'd be against it too.

The only one that looks stuipid is you, Knighthawk. You obviously approve of the head of ther CIA trying to squelch a private citizens viewpoints, or else you're just a brainwashed douchebag like the rest of this crew. Why is Obama hiding behind his lapdogs at the CIA? Because he's a coward and a hypocrite just like you.

#88 | Posted by cookfish

Back to try again? Extra credit for getting the crap beat out of you and coming back for more.

Here's the Obama's team answer when asked if they agree with their CIA lapdog's statement:

At his press gaggle, Robert Gibbs was asked: "Does the President agree with Director Panetta's assessment that Vice President -- former Vice President Cheney almost wants another attack to happen?"

Gibbs replied: "Well, look, I'm not going to get into motivations. That's not what our business is. The President's concern is keeping the American people safe. We've had policy disagreements, but I think what is true for anybody is doing what's -- doing what we need to to keep the American people safe and secure. That's what the President is working on every day."

Christ - these hypocrites don't even stand behind the lackies they employ to do their own dirtywork! Hahahahaha!~ What a bunch of milktaost cowards. You fit right in there, Knight, with Corky, SanAn, and the rest of the drones.

And I ALWAYS end up making you look like a fool, you pathetic brainwashed tool. Otherwise you wouldn't stalk me so, would you Mr. Mancrush?. Didn't that rest stop encounter with Montecore improve your outlook at all?

Posted by cookfish

STALK you? You are more pathetic than I even imagined. LOL!

And I don't know about a "retraction", unless you have something different, what the spokesman said was...

"Panetta's comments were 'conditional' and she adds, 'As is clear from the article itself, Panetta spoke to Jane Mayer of The New Yorker after returning from Obama's speech on detention policy and interrogation -- and being briefed on Cheney's speech earlier that day. So the comments were off the cuff -- his raw reaction to Cheney's criticism.'"

Yes, his comments were offensive, but they were also hilarious. I actually called my wife at work today, read the comments, and she giggled so uproariously that she suggested a hummer might be due compensation for making her laugh in such a manner.

IMO - you can be pretty reasonable, but you need to lighten up a little bit. I can provide some 'public defender' slurs if you need to let off some steam! :-)

He went berserk over the Letterman/Palin thing.

All of this is a moot point since Panetta basically retracked his comment.

And this just in - but too late for Rex...

Letterman Apologizes for Bad Joke

NEW YORK David Letterman says his joke about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter was a lousy joke, no matter how you cut it, and he's sorry.

But the late-night host insists that what's got people outraged is the misunderstanding over which Palin daughter the joke was about.

On Monday's edition of "Late Show," Letterman explains that the risque joke thought by some to have targeted Palin's underage daughter, Willow, was actually intended for 18-year-old daughter Bristol. The name of the daughter wasn't mentioned in the joke, which was part of Letterman's monologue on last Monday's show.

"It's not your fault that it was misunderstood," he tells his audience. "It's my fault." And he says he'll try to do better.

All of this is a moot point since Panetta basically retracked his comment.

#107 | Posted by MURPHY

Not really. It still doesn't ameliorate the absurdity of claiming it was an attempt by the administration to stifle free speech.

I don't know about it being against free speech.

Cheney can go around saying whatever he wants.

Panetta spoke too soon or off the cuff or from the hip--

Cheney can be accused of a lot of things--but wishing for another attack is not one of them.

And the way Obama is going--I hope we are not attacked again--but he is sure reversing some policies that have shown to prevent another attack in 8 years after 9/11.

Classy right to the end Cookie. And pretty much a concession that your whole argument was stupid and you have no defense for it other than to vomit ugliness.

Poor Cookie - nobody likes him, nobody thinks he's smart. Everybody picks on him. Awwww.

I didn't say you didn't occasionally come up with some humor, now did I?

SanantoadioRouge says that Obama sicking the head of the CIA on a private citizen is in no way an attempt to shut him up. And he wonders why it's so easy to make him look stupid.

Read this again, SLOWLY, San An, and realize the error of your ways. I can put it in Braille, if you think it will help.

#111 | Posted by cookfish

I would agree with you if Panetta was someone to fear.

Even Cheney called him "old friend".

Now if the IRS comes after him--that might be reason to shudder.

But that is a Clinton trick.

And Obama is such a naive kid--he won't go after Cheney himself.

Because Cheney will call him on the carpet.

Now--please apologize for that incoherent coffee comment.

Why does Panetta retract his stupidity, yet yours lingers on?

Read this again, SLOWLY, San An, and realize the error of your ways. I can put it in Braille, if you think it will help.

Stupid is stupid, in print, cursive, or braille. And your contention that this is stifling anyone's free speech is stupid.

Boy, you sure are working overtime to try to prove something that is patently absurd on its face.

Not you, Murph - robotboy.

If I put it in pink, will it help?

#117 | Posted by cookfish

But the whole discussion (and I use that term loosely in your case) wasn't about whether what Panetta said was right, wrong, or indifferent. It was about your ridiculous contention that this was somehow an attack against free speech.

It wasn't, isn't, and no amount of spinning, dodging, weaving and just plain misdirecting will change that.

#108 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue

You know it doesn't matter which daughter the joke was about. It's still sex on the filed with someone twice their age.

It's a woman thing. The slutty flight attendent joke was bad too.

He's still an ass--nothing will happen to him.

I didn't want or think it was right for Imus to be fired.

I think the same about Letterman. Fire the writer(s). ;o)

There is going to be a large group of woman out in front of CBS tomorrow--protesting.

And they are not from SarahPAC.

And your contention that this is stifling anyone's free speech is stupid.
San

I wouldn't call it stupid.

If it was someone other than Cheney--who is Darth Vader--who couldn't handle it--it could be construed as stifling speech.

But it's Leon.

And Cheney is a big boy and wouldn't ever--not ever kowtow to the likes of Obama or Leon.

And Cook--I am a woman!

It isn't any more "stifling free speech" than when members of the Bush Administration fired back at Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter over their criticisms.

Now if Cheney gets disappeared by the CIA tomorrow, THAT might be considered an attack on free speech.

I love Cheney's adult-like response:

"I hope he was misquoted."

Perfect.

Although its not particularly hard to sound adult-like given the current cacophany of naive, punk-leftist shit that dominates our current politics.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Gilded Age for our Numinous Negro and youth hostel hero is quietly slipping away.

Cheney called Panetta "old friend". Now that is funny. (Picture that 'sneer' Cheney is famous for).

Maybe they want to go bird hunting next week....

Obama--all he knows to say is it was someone else's fault.

Of course, I don't expect facts or reality to change the perceptions of a partisan hack like yourself.

Although its not particularly hard to sound adult-like given the current cacophany of naive, punk-leftist shit that dominates our current politics.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Gilded Age for our Numinous Negro and youth hostel hero is quietly slipping away.

And the way Obama is going--I hope we are not attacked again--but he is sure reversing some policies that have shown to prevent another attack in 8 years after 9/11.

I'm curious, which policies are being reversed, and what attacks did they prevent?

How is that "bigoted", dipshit?

Show your work...

I'm curious, which policies are being reversed

The policy of taking threats to our national security seriously.

and what attacks did they prevent?

The "attack" on basic logic that requires one to prove a negative.

Cheney wants to see another 9/11 on US soil?

Of course, he does.

Cos then he thinks he will forgiven for his torture happy policies that made America and the rest of the world a less safe place.

He's wrong of course, but then when hasn't he been?

Danforth pretends that free speech doesn't apply to everybody, and doesn't want anyone that disagrees with him to be able to voice their views without the CIA attacking them.

So you believe in free speech fer Cheney but not fer Panetta?

How selectively democratic of you.

The policy of taking threats to our national security seriously

Cheney did no such thing.

Cheney created more threats than he confronted.

Deliberately.

Without the chaos he created his war profiteering would never have been so darned profitable.

Anyone who thinks that asshole wasn't werking fer Halliburton and other parts of the MIC rather than the US people fer the 8 BushCo years is a moron.

Yes, Mao. Looking directly at you when saying that.

Thanx fer noticing.

Be Well.

You mean Bush caught Bin Laden?

Really? When the hell did this happen?

CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of the Obama administration's approach to terrorism almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point." Panetta told The New Yorker.

Let's see. Obama relaxes and shows weakness.

Terrorists attack!

Cheney gets blamed for wishing it.

LOL!!! Nice try.

Typical of this empty-suit admin, Panetta backed off his comments.

Is there anyone in this admin with convictions? These pussies don't ever stand behind anything they say.

Cheney wants to see another 9/11 on US soil?
Of course, he does.
Cos then he thinks he will forgiven for his torture happy policies that made America and the rest of the world a less safe place.

I believe that you believe this, but you're completely wrong (as usual, I might ad). Cheney is a patriotic American, love or hate him. What's Cheney's motivation? Is he running for something? His legacy? Please. If his legacy was more important to him than doing what is right, he would be a Democrat. Cheney has never been one to act because he thinks it will make him popular with those that oppose him. We all know that the libs have never ever gotten past the 2000 election and they have become one of the most hateful groups in American politics. Again, what's Cheney's motivation for wishing destruction on his country? Vindication? Only Libs are that petty.

He's wrong of course, but then when hasn't he been? Uh huh. The only VP that turns everything he comments on into a big gaffe or says "I'm wrong" is Biden.

Cheney created more threats than he confronted.

Yeah, that's right. Remember all those attacks on America after 9/11? Wow, we can blame all of those attacks on Cheney.

Long Live Haliburton.

Be Well, Dethspud. Be Well, because it's so cool to say that after every post.

A CIA spokesman is sharply downplaying Director Leon Panetta 's recent comments that appear to question whether former Vice President Dick Cheney is hoping for another terrorist attack against the United States.

"The Director does not believe the former Vice President wants an attack," CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a statement to CNN. "He did not say that. He was simply expressing his profound disagreement with the assertion that President Obama's security policies have made our country less safe. Nor did he question anyone's motives."

We all know that the libs have never ever gotten past the 2000 election and they have become one of the most hateful groups in American politics.

Really? How many "libs" have you heard of going Postal lately and taking the law into their own hands and becoming murderers in order to make a political point? It is funny how I see the most hateful posts coming from so called Christian and Conservative bloggers and Right Wing Web Sites. How many Liberal talk show hows are advocating violence like that HATE MONGER Bill O'Reilly was against a law abiding citizens like Doctor Tiller?
