In business ethics, the typical way one makes a judgment about the morality of a business action or practice is to consider the facts surrounding it in the light of four major ethical perspectives. These four ethical theories have been the ones considered most plausible in over two millennia of moral philosophy.

This article is spot-on.

Shameful.

I stopped when the author stated "and the UAW arguably controls the federal government."

Huh?

I stopped when the author stated "and the UAW arguably controls the federal government."

A fair criticism of the article.

However, how does anyone justify the government-mandated piece of the pie that the UAW has been awarded through all of this shit?

Shameful.

How so?

UAW?

Corporate America controls the federal government.

I think Sammy up there on the top left of the page is pondering where he left his hat.

"However, how does anyone justify the government-mandated piece of the pie that the UAW has been awarded through all of this shit?"

You mean, to the guys who were there every day, signed a contract, and fulfilled their part of the bargain? The ones who gave blood, sweat and years to the company? Those guys?

You mean, to the guys who were there every day...

I thought they were called on the carpet for absolutely abusing sick-time, short term disability, etc

Anyone that is familiar with any union member knows those slugs don't hesitate to call in sick or milk an injury for all it's worth.

Bankruptcy laws exist for a reason, Danforth.

the pecking-order for the cannibalization of an insolvent company is well-established.

You want to change the pecking order?

Fine. Follow the fucking process - introduce a bill, have it pass through congress and have it signed by the president. Until that happens don't pretend that what we are seeing passes muster and do NOT play the emotional 'the little guy is the warrior' card.

Let me save you the trouble of reading this piece of trash.

Don't buy GM or Chrysler because you don't want President Obama to succeed at anything and a few million jobs sacrificed to hurt his chances of reelection are worth it to right wing lunatics.

Boycott hamburgers, Barack Obama eats them!

That is complete bullshit.

You don't see any problem whatsoever with our government running 2 domestic auto-makers?

"You don't see any problem whatsoever with our government running 2 domestic auto-makers?"

Of course, but the alternative would have been far worse. Just the unemployment alone would possibly have drug the country into depression. You and the other critics pretend that the President wanted to do these things and that he wasn't confronted with these situations when he took office. Ideological claims that we should have just let the free market rule are easy to make but the consequences are real and effect real people.

And, boycotting those companies and helping them to go bankrupt is just plain mean spirited partisanship. Should Americans be boycotting CitiGroup, Bank of America, etc.????

I make no such claims.

Obama and the Dems walked into a nightmare. Their choices were bad (do nothing) and reeking shit (nationailize). They chose the latter.

The problem, per usual, is all of the unintended consequences of their actions. As is so often the case, the unintendeds often outweigh the positives.

Any failed business that is propped up by government costs the taxpayer - all of us. If the local credit union maintained viability by avoiding the clever packaging of toxic assets, then HELL YES, they should be considered for earning your business on your next loan.

If, all things being equal, you view the Ford Fusion to be on par with the Chevy Malibu, then HELL YES you should choose the Fusion.

The main reason GM is out of business is because they got involved with AIG through GMAC and bought toxic ponzi scheme derivatives. That was a management decision that ruined a great company. Good for the union.

I'm going to give #18 a FF, but I'll also shake my finger at the shameful impersonation. Your rhetoric needs more zeal and vigor, sir.

In my 40 years of owning vehicles I have never owned a Ford, Only Chevys and Dodges. I will be buying Fords from now on.

Very cool. Ford offers domestic partner benefits to same-sex couples.

'Preciate your support of gay-friendly businesses!

Love my Hyundai Sonata V6 and I bank at a credit union, neither of which have the 'obama' administration 'odor'/'fingerprints'.

Danni, get your own life. This one is not doing you any favors.

Don't buy GM or Chrysler because you don't want President Obama to succeed at anything and a few million jobs sacrificed ...

How many American jobs did you sacrifice, Danni, when you bought your foreign car?

My last car was a Honda, proudly built by Americans in Ohio.

So you stay off the US airlines too, Jeff, and especially anything flying a Boeing product? Lotta federal intervention there.
You don't drive on paved roads, especially the interstates, cause they were funded by socialism?

You don't buy Jap cars built in the US cause they got big state and local cash and tax benefits, either, I presume.

Or does this new found morality have more to do with who is in office than any reality based position?

My last car was a Honda, proudly built by Americans in Ohio.

And how many millions did the company get from the federal. state and local government to build there, comrade Vernski?
