Without the public option, any plan that congress comes up with will be a total betrayal of the people that voted for O and the democrats in congress.

Shitstains that complain that a public insurance plan would 'destroy traditional health insurance' need to answer this question: WHO GIVES A FUCK? If the rich bastards can't adapt and compete with an efficient plan, they deserve to fail.

Oh, never mind........ we ARE talking about the party of FAIL here.

In opinion polls, over 70 percent of Americans want at least a public option if not single-payer health care.

This bill is a real test for Obama and the Dems. If they don't get it done now, it won't get done.

If they turn it into a bailout for insurance companies instead of a real choice of low-cost public health insurance, they will have lost my support.

I'm interested in seeing his plan. And I hope it is scrutinized and debated, not rushed without public oversight like most legislation has been in the first 6 months.

And I hope it is scrutinized and debated

The right is already attacking it before it is out.

I too would like a fair and open debate.

I fear that it will try to include health insurance companies in it, which will cover far too little and cost way too much.

Wissy

If they don't get it done by July, it's summer break, then off to next year's election.

Even Orin Hatch said as much.

We have been 40 years trying to do this, rushing it isn't possible.

"Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) is "unwavering" in her opposition to a Blue Dog Coalition health care position issued late last week, she said Tuesday. The Blue Dogs, a caucus of conservative Democrats, issued a set of principles opposing a public health care option unless it was triggered by the failure of private insurers to meet certain goals.

Harman, in a statement, said she supports a public option without a trigger. "I will oppose any plan that does not include this option, and am unwavering in my opposition to the so-called 'Blue Dog trigger,'" said Harman.

On Monday, the Huffington Post reported that the Blue Dogs had backed the trigger even though 20 of their 51 members, including Harman, had pledged to the reform coalition Health Care for America Now! (HCAN) that they supported a public option without one."

"America can't afford to wait for health care reform. While a single-payer system would be ideal, I am prepared to support other measures that also reduce costs, preserve doctor choice, and assure affordable, quality health care for all Americans," she said in a statement. "I think a public option without a trigger would be a good way to fix what's wrong with health care while preserving what works."

Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.), the vice chairman of the Blue Dog Health Care Task Force, has also since come out in favor of a public option without a trigger."

Trash the "Trigger".

Before we're forcibly plunged into a state-run medical care abyss, Washington should look at the blunders made in Oregon.

What you see is not always what you get...in the end.

forcibly plunged into a state-run medical care abyss

I rest my case.

The health care INDUSTRY has too much to lose to let anything be done by the government that would negate their own existence.

They will throw millions upon millions of your health care dollars at Congress to ensure that the status quo stays intact.

No matter if it would be better for the American people or not. The health care INDUSTRY is not in the business of ensuring people are healthy, they are in the business of treating symptoms of illness.

It is sickening.

The health care INDUSTRY is not in the business of ensuring people are healthy, they are in the business of treating symptoms of illness.

I find this all the time in my field. I work in sleep medicine and the treatment for apnea is a one time expense while the sleeping pills are needed every month, so they choose to make people pay for the pills rather than cover the CPAP machine in most cases.

The health care INDUSTRY is not in the business of ensuring people are healthy, they are in the business of treating symptoms of illness.

Keeping you healthy is your responsibility.

Why do you so easily surrender your authority to an industry? And then bitch about it?

You think Socialized medicine is going to make you eat your vegetables and exercise every day?

BTW, ObamaCare is never going to happen. Just like HillaryCare never happened.

There is not enough money in the world to provide free care
