Hi Bani, do you know anyone with this? Jim

Bani,

There are various plans available online, but I wouldn't jump into one unless you are already skilled at building machinery.

Here's a place to start. It's a simple wind turbine you can build from odds and ends. It will only power a light bulb, but it's a good way to practice before you go into the big leagues.

I've built a bigger, multi-unit version of this and it will power an electric fan and a radio.

have fun!

Home Solar energy and even Wind energy production make nothing but sense.

Whether or not $200 is a realistic start-up cost or just a lure to get you to invest more cash in other more ambitious projects is neither here nor there as far as Spud is concerned.

Fer the record, never seen this particular ad on the Drudge Retort ever.

Be Well.

Well, maybe you have a ton of cash sitting around from a wealthy uncle who died bedding his mistress, but the rest of us normal people think that $200 for something that might not work at all is a significant investment.

Solar and Wind will never take off as a popular alternative unless the figure out how to make it cheaper. Lots cheaper.

The people who bought this probably also bought the x-ray glasses from the back of the comic books when they were kids.

I'm utilizing their services to whisk me ashore in about 2 hours.

Not really -- a helicopter is doing that. Your seahorses are in the mail

That's right. Ya know, you can take a potatoe and stick one piece of zinc and one piece of copper in it and make electricity. but it will only power a digital wristwatch, but it's still electricity.

There are two or 3 known methods of obtaining lots of renewable electricity but the public will freak out when any of them are proposed.

1) putting windmills in the air at about 300 ft above ground where the wind blows continuously.

2) tidal generators that catch the power of moving tides to drive generators.

3) capturing solar rays outside our atmosphere and shooting them back to earth in the form of a concentrated laser beams.

rex - they're actually "fairy shrimp" and a protected species in californistan. i don't believe you'll be seeing them anytime soon. go for the dark glasses that can see through walls. yeah. walls.

LipSore,

The original post was asking about realistic, practical approaches. I doubt the launch of Bani-1 is imminent.

But it is possible to build simple windmills at home which will at least supplement your electric bill. And you don't have to pay $10,000 to do it.

(The $10,000 windmill may be more efficient, but it will take you 30 years to get your payback. By that time you will be dead.)

I've built several, and have learned from each one.

When you launch LipSORE-1 tell us. Until then, you're just a dickhead.

perhaps we all get differing ads? i've had the one with urethra franklin in that gray beauty bow hat at the upper left side since inauguration day! probably because i said, "I LOVE THAT HAT!"

Fucking A, "Bani-1" is priceless.

You're kidding, right?

I'm really surprised how many private windmills and solar arrays I am seeing as I drive the country roads around Texas. I don't see near as many when I am in other states.

My FB just got a wind generator. Her meter actually runs backwards some days. Her electric bill went from ~220/mo to ~40/mo. It's been as low as $0. They are about to pass a law that the co-ops must buy surplus power from private wind generators. I expect to see even more after this goes into effect.

It's more efficient and cost effective to run an extension cord to the back of your neighbors house.

no, 101 - that's what's at the top left side of the page every time! but i do love that hat and it would look much cuter on me.

note to vernon - my husband and our children love to do home projects - i printed off the directions to the small turbine and will give it to them when we're housebound this winter - thankx!

nanc,
That's not an ad. It's a picture Rcade likes. There used to be one of Dukakis riding in a tank, and then one of Bush doing the same (I believe).

It's basically the site's avatar.

PS-You're a cunt.

(I couldn't just offer help for free)

Verno, wtf are you talking about. I agree with you, you asshole.

I am just saying that 'feeling good about making electricity' and making enough electricity to be useful are two different things. You will notice that technical issues (reality) have nothing to do with emotional and political issues (fairytale land). But what do i know, I'm only an electrical engineer?

If you crunch the numbers...oh wait this is vern...forget about crunching numbers...yes of course generating 200 watts at a cost of thousands of dollars is a real good deal...go for it.

Why buy some dude's google work when you can do it yourself?

Fucking A, "Bani-1" is priceless.

FF

Why crunch numbers when I could just use my handy calculator?

Vernon

Bani, did you check out the site I linked? It has the information you're looking for without having to buy some dude's crappy instructions.

........I bought those x-ray glasses to see some pussy.........they didn't work.......

.....I couldn't see a fucking thing.......

That's exactly what I am looking for!

Kommissar Al Gorsky will direct a carbon tax to be collected on these inventions.

no kidding...Tesla had J.P. Morgan's backing (& his daughter!) until J.P. relise Tesla was into giving everyone free energy...

Dropped Tesla like a hot potato after that:>)

The three turbines I've built so far have cost me maybe $15. As I said, it's an experiment and good practice before a major project.

But you merely confirm my point.

What's your launch date?

If what that guy says is halfway true then I predict that sales on energy panels is going to skyrocket and they will be installed on virtually everyone's homes. Nothing could make me happier than to be able to dramatically reduce my electric bill.
