OohRah,
If it was your grandmother would it be funny?

I have a question. Why can't I ever get Tasered?? I feel left out somehow You know. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Larry

Larry if you got tased, you'd shit out about 10 years worth of Big Macs.

Sorry I don't eat fast foods JeffnDenmark. Only on the road and reluctantly at that. I enjoy a home cooked style meal Thank You very much. The only "Fast Foods" I love are the bags of frozen vegetables microwaved for 5 minutes and then they are ready to eat. Sorry to have bursted Your bubble once again though.

Larry

Yeah r-i-i-ght....

Just like you aren't taking anti-depressants too.

Nope don't take anti depressants. I take 2 heart pills 2 Prilosec OTC for My ulcers. 2 Tramadol for knee pain(NonNSAID 2 Multivitamens.and an Iron pill that's all I take.

Larry

Stoopid old lady gets pulled over and tasered by an even stoopider cop.

* facepalm *

She's lucky she didn't die.

Be Well.

You people make jokes about it, and make side issue statements about the cop and the lady being stupid, but you completely over look the fact that cops are using tasers like Jehovah's witnesses pass out pamphlets.
It's pain compliance! Just like we use on the cattle when we run them thru the shoots.

Are you that stupid, or just to cowardly to face the fact that you are now living in a fascist police state.
How bad does it have to get before you say, Hey this shit isn't cool?!!

Oh dear heavens to betsy murdertroid. What can one say JeffnDenmark?? It's wrong the cop should be fired but I can not do a damned thing about it. I don't have that kind of power. Sighhhhhhhhhhh

"What's your problem?"

"I'm retarded... what's YOUR problem?" hahahahahaha funny shit.

You could at least be indignant and angry instead of folding like a house of cards.
How about speaking up, and not just excepting all of the crap that's being rammed down your throat?
What happened to you America? We were once the most independent, and proud.
Now it's all phony pride in Obama, and Walmart God bless America flags and tee shirts.
Americans have become compliant sheep that eat every shit sandwich the government and bankers feed them.

Yawnnnnnnn

Tell Me something JeffnDenmark. If You think the United States has done to shit so bad why aren't You over here trying to help clean the shit up?? I mean if America means THAT much to You I know I would move back post haste to try and fix it. What's Your reason for staying away???

Larry

I wonder where all the usual liberal Texas bashers are? I guess this one's OK since it happened in the very liberal PRA (People's Republic of Austin)

"Granite Schoals(sic)"

~sigh

This was in Travis County on the way back to Granite Shoals.

""Due to being a construction zone, and workers being present," Pct. 3 Constable Richard McCain said, "it was 45, she was doing 60."

Winkfein admits she was speeding in the dangerous strip of Highway 71 and Bee Creek.

"He explained to her," Constable McCain said, "sign the ticket stub, it's not an admission of guilt. It's a promise to appear in court. She didn't want to. She said take me to jail."

That's when the officer says Winkfein exited her vehicle and didn't cooperate.

"She refused to get off the side of the road, he said to her, Ma'am, you're under arrest. She used profanity," the Constable said. He adds she got violent, and the officer used a taser on her.

Winkfein showed FOX 7 her taser scars."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"FOX 7 ... taser scars."
While I am all for her getting a ticket for speeding in a work zone (far too many workers have died because of selfish pricks that cannot spare five minutes to drive safely), tasering her was over the top.
Now not only does the cop look like the asshole that he is, she will probably have the ticket thrown out and a nice excessive force case against the police department.
They better settle out of court because if granny takes the stand it is all over for the police department.
Winkfein admits she was speeding in the dangerous strip of Highway 71 and Bee Creek.
What qualifies as speeding in Texas?
I was driving through Dime Box (or Old Dime Box) on the way to College Station, two lane road, doing 75. I was passed by a pickup pulling a boat just as a beer can came flying out the window. Highly entertaining.
A taser is like the remote control for a TV. It's easier then getting up to change the channel.
Quote: "Here and here. Two places, side by side. It's unreal. It's like an electric shock," she said. End quote
No, Madam, IT IS AN ELECTRIC SHOCK!!! I guess the taser is a better choice than being hit on the head with a night stick or a 4 cell Maglite flashlight! Count your blessings, Grandma, it could have been much worse!
We just had a woman working in a contruction zone here killed the other day by a motorist. People need to slow down around these workers.
Justice is supposed to be applied equaly for everyone. You don't get a free pass because you're over 65.
Taser all speeders!
What a F***ing hero cop you got there in Texas.
Love the way the constable tries to justify the cops actions, with all the usual standard cop lies.
Exactly.
Some simple fucks fail to understand what the alternatives are.
This old broad should have gotten a face full of pepper spray and a plunger shoved up her ass. Or even worse, they should have turned her over to the butchy Danni look-a-like that waves the "Slow" flag at construction sites.
"How about speaking up, and not just excepting all of the crap that's being rammed down your throat?
What happened to you America?"
Jeff I am with you more than against you. Seriously your fairly right on with your assesment of an incrouching police state, but seriously you gotta stop the "when will you stand up" stuff while you yourself have fled to another country instead of bucking up and fighting the good fight with the rest of us still in our Homeland.
Also ya she is a stupid bitch for doing 60 somethiong in a WORK ZONE. I say take her license and have the Medicine Shop deliver her medications.
"Count your blessings, Grandma, it could have been much worse!"
You have some nice standards for police behavior.
I've heard a couple of stories of this sort of thing happening because the motorist refuses to sign the bottom of the ticket. In the other case(s?) it turned out signing it wasn't required anyway and the cop was out of line escalating the situation. It'll be interesting to see if this is the case here as well.
Also ya she is a stupid bitch for doing 60 somethiong in a WORK ZONE. I say take her license and have the Medicine Shop deliver her medications.
Fair enough, but tazing old people and children? I understand that a cop's job is dangerous, but using potentially lethal force against people who couldn't harm anyone if they wanted to is excessive.
What are the rules of engagement for the use of a taser? I thought it was supposed to be a non-lethal alternative to the use of guns when a cop is threatened, as opposed to a "I'm the boss and listen to me" joyride. So this "cop" felt threatened by a 72 y.o. woman? Time to reassess career choices, buddy.
ya I agree that Tazzering a Old Lady and Kids( under the age of say 16) is outa line.
Cop: "May I see your ID, please? DOB October 17, 1992?
*ZZZZAAAAP*
(just kidding, I know where you are coming from)
bucking up and fighting the good fight?
When do any of you fight the good fight?
Me and few others are the only ones on DR that try and point out these wrongs, and we get attacked for it.
If I did live in the US what good would it do? I would probably be out of work, and have 3 kids that need me to feed and clothe.
I wouldn't subject my children to what is coming over there.
I can do more good right here at my computer than I can over there.
I'm not getting a new US passport with the rfid chip, and I'm not going thru an American airport to be scanned, and probed by a bunch of knuckle dragging moron security agents.
I'll stay right here and keep on post'n.
"I wouldn't subject my children to what is coming over there"
Whats comming here is what came there. I thought that you of all people would have seen that. We are very quickly (say about 5-6years in ) going to become a North American Union that is a straight copy of The EU(Cant say if I recal Denmark being a EU member yet or not). Alas my wish is not to argue with you really as I see things in just about the same light you do and get berated for it as well. I just refuse to be moved from MY homeland. And I do do my part, its not clean or nice sometimes, but we have our own ways of TCB.
Also GM that was pretty funny. kinda spit a little coffee when I read that.
They have been tasering people on the sightest of provocations for some time and sometimes fatally. You are not special.
It's ALWAYS found to be justified.
Suck it up granny!!!
JUST SIGN THE TICKET, LADY!
So, this cop is saying that he couldn't physically handle a 72 year old woman? Or, is he saying that tasing is a better route than spinning them around and cuffing them? This is just absurd.
Piss on construction zone speed limits - usually. If there are actual people out there I will slow down. But they leave the signs up all the time, and then the cops use that to nail people with. This old lady was just driving like everybody else, probably. How much compliance is there with speed limits? Very little. Then she had a confrontation with this deputy (which is the lowest scum form of law enforcement) and she expected to be treated with the dignity of her age and this depitty dawg expects her to be all apologetic, submissive and compliant, the way the cops want everyone to be nowadays. It was old times meets the era of homeland security and all other exaggerated police powers. I guess this old lady has not been watching the cop shows the last 20 years so she could learn how you are supposed to act, that indoctrination went out, but somehow it missed her.
Could the cop not have overpowered her with his bare hands? Why did he have to use a taser?
If you aren't fit enough to physically control an unarmed old lady without the help of a taser, you probably have no business being a cop.
Here's a solution to the problem of cops using tasers every time their panties get twisted: Require them to fill out a ton of paperwork every time they taze someone. Problem solved.
72-Year-Old Tasered in Traffic Stop
Don't tase me, son.
I'm usually always pro-cop, but this cop was a fool. Tazering someone her age could easily have given her a heart attack. Was she on heart medication? Did the cop even have a clue as to her medical condition?
Come on, get real. Some big, decades-younger cop needs to tazer a 72 year old woman because she "became violent"? What'd she do, grab him from behind in a chokehold and throw him on the ground?
This was wrong, just wrong.
Actually that would increase the liklihood that people will get tasered at the beginning of officers' shifts.
Its called ensuring an early out.
My cop cousin in East NY picks fights with people on days he wants to go home early, because after he makes the arrest (assaulting an officer charge) he doesn't have to go back out on the beat.
This lady is lucky she didn't get shot. It is well known here in Texas that cops Taser people for the fun of it and when they really want to yuk it up they shoot some innocent ghetto guys in the back. Cops really know how to have fun.
He most likely could have. Would she have been more or less likely to suffer an injury via a taser or being physically restrained and then cuffed?
Broken arm, wrist, seperated shoulder, fractured hip, etc could all have resulted from being physically restrained. One shot from the taser and I'll bet the old bat begged for the cuffs.
The taser is so that the cops don't have to lay hands on the people like they would have prior (hands, batons, flashlights, etc). The chance of the cop getting hurt, or the perp, are lower, which means my taxes don't go higher paying for lawsuits and short/long term disability.
I don't care if he tasers an entire nursing home as long as he shows up to work, keeps from egtting sued, and keeps black people out of my neighborhood.
Good point, I thought about that after my post. Twist her arm behind her back and he might have broken the thing off.
"Would she have been more or less likely to suffer an injury via a taser or being physically restrained and then cuffed?"
The weaker the person the more easy it is to wrestle them and control them without using alot of force. I would assume a 72 year old woman is more endangered by a taser jolt than being restrained someone who is trying to control her without harming her.
Have you ever seen how many cops it takes to get control of a woman? That right there shoots down the "weaker" argument.
If a man over-powers a woman, especially a senior citizen, something is bound to snap. She could lose her balance, slip a disk, seperate a shoulder, etc
Plus the physical exertion can't be good for her (not that a taser is, but that lasts seconds and you immediately change your fucking tune and comply).
Lefties are always second guessing the police. Why don't you lib scumbags try some of your theories on the cops, like resisting arrest and trying to wrestle a cop down and take his gun away. I would pay to see that.
...check her meds....
Cops are getting a little too crazy with the taser. If a cop can't take down a woman in her 70's without resorting to a taser that officer shouldn't have a job.
Hope the poor woman was wearing her Depends undergarments.
"Have you ever seen how many cops it takes to get control of a woman? That right there shoots down the "weaker" argument."
How so? You don't have to throw an old lady around to get her to calm down. Ever tease a little cousin or nephew and have him attack you? Do you have to punch the little dude in the face or tackle him to get him to stop or do you just grab his wrists until he calms down? I can't imagine that if cop grabbed both her wrists that she would have been able to hurt him. Definitely worth a try when the worst thing that happens is you get hit in the face by an old lady. The worse thing that happens if you taze her is she dies.
If you're scared to get hit in the face by old lady to the point where you need a weapon to deal with her, you are a pussy. Case closed!
"Lefties are always second guessing the police."
Considering many cops are hypocritical and/or stupid, I would think anyone with half a brain would second guess them every now and then.
I think that this cop probably could have physically subdued this woman quickly if he wasn't concerned about hurting her. Physically subduing someone without hurting them is substantially harder. The taser probably seemed like the quickest safest way to get her under control. A taser probably wasn't any harder on her heart than an extended struggle.
I was pulled over this weekend (75 in a 65 no construction) and the trooper was pleasant other than the whole issuing me a ticket thing. After the whole thing he thanked me for my courtesy and told me to have a nice day. I don't understand why people have an issue with being respectful to a cop. I broke the law and he was doing his job there was no reason to get nasty. And plenty of reasons not to.
"Lefties are always second guessing the police."
Someone has to question authority and it sure as hell won't be the righties who applaud any use of force against even the most helpless of people.
I think you Cops show is on no FW, I know you don't want to miss it.
Sully, I find that blind acceptance helps me sleep at night with a nice, tight, orderly, and predictable world.
Until the come after me, why should I care.
I can't imagine that if cop grabbed both her wrists that she would have been able to hurt him.
#56 | Posted by Sully
She might not have been able to hurt him but she probably could break her own wrists by struggling.
Little kids bounce, old people break.
"f you'd like me to be serious for a moment, my first thought is that the cop was in a better position to assess things than we are. It's easy to make snap judgements based on our pre-conceived notions as you apparently have done.
It may well be that the cop used excessive force. At least Rev Jackson won't be on television demanding anything.
Let the facts come out. Make decisions based on all the evidence. It could be that tasing her saved her life and perhaps the lives of other motorists in that construction zone. Is age an excuse for non-compliance?
#16 | Posted by OohRah"
What's with all this ass kissing of authority figures? They are not in their position due to any great show of integrity but because it's a JOB. The fact that the cop here inflicted bodily harm on the woman puts him on the defensive. Do you think he will tell the truth? Fuck no! His job is on the line.
Along with your calling for torture of any terror SUSPECT if it could help a bit, depending on the authorities promising you they need to do it, makes me really wonder why you worship authority.
You sound like a typical recovering alcoholic, born again christian. some who's life depends on rigid rules to follow and arrogantly assumes everyone else is just as weak as they are.
"She might not have been able to hurt him but she probably could break her own wrists by struggling."
Its pretty hard to die from a broken wrist.
Someone has to question authority and it sure as hell won't be the righties ...
Maybe because they don't have encounters with the police as the left always seem to?
GoatTroll please show me the statistics or did you make this shit up while exploring 33 countries in the world?
I guess you missed the operative word 'maybe' and the question mark at the end of the sentence. You see, that indicates that the sentence is speculation. If I was stating a fact it would read, "It is because the left has more encounters with the police than the right".
Get it?
What is it with you and your inability to distinguish between a question or speculation and a statement of fact? Is English your second language?
GoatTroll please show me the statistics or did you make this shit up while exploring 33 countries in the world?
The only thing I remember making up while I was exploring the world was my bed in a few of hostels where you had to change your own sheets before you left.
Poor little, laughable furrytroll, too ashamed to admit that he doesn't have a full grasp of the English language spins by pretending I was presenting sarcasm.
Fucking pathetic
LOL
Some of us rent flats and don't slum it in hostels.
Bully for you. Some of us when 20 years old and making $400/mo had no choice.
But I learned more in those hostels and had a better time than if I had stayed in a flat. So I guess it's to each his own.
So GoatTroll all this worldly knowledge you claimed to have gathered in 33 countries occurred at the ripe age of 20? Early bloomer weren't you?
Yea right! The left won't question a damned thing if it involves the judgement of Obama, Pelosi or Reid.
So GoatTroll all this worldly knowledge you claimed to have gathered in 33 countries occurred at the ripe age of 20?
Actually it started when I was 19 and still continues today. One never stops learning. I'm learning what an ass you really are for example.
Early bloomer weren't you
???
No, not really. Just because you lived with your mama until you were 30 doesn't mean the rest of the world did.
Lefties are always second guessing the police.
I always thought it was the right that said they didn't trust the government? You don't trust them to spend your money, but you follow them blindly when they're assaulting old ladies?
That's not true, Larry. You could move to a foreign country, 1000's of miles away, and post an occasional thread on a meaningless blog and have a bunch of hyperpolitical douchebags comment on it. You too can change the world, Larry.
Sorry GoatTroll I had to take off for college at 17 and then traveling for work at 22. I didn't have the luxury of hanging out at home.
I guess you were a little unsure of yourself and that's why you joined the Navy to get some self-esteem and confidence? Not everyone is ready to be on there own at 18.
Think of it, LarrynSomalia, or LarrynVenezuela. LarrynNewZealand (no, they don't fancy immigrants...), or LarrynIndia.
I explained this once before to you just a day or two ago.
I joined the Navy to see the world, to serve my country and for an education -- the one the Navy gave me and the GI bill since my parents couldn't afford to send me to college and I didn't want to take out any loans.
But you tell yourself whatever you like -- lack of self esteem, lack of confidence, I don't really care. You don't seem satisfied with who I am and want me to be someone completely different. KInd of like Montetroll. I'm not sure why that is, but it is very weird to say the least.
lol!
When does the revolution begin?
Old ladies get tazed? Say hello to your Police State, Sheeple of America.
"Don't taze me, sonny."
Boy what a bunch of sexist ageists posting here. Might seem funny but a mouthy agitated 72 year old can be as much a handful as the average 30 year old if they feel like it.
pretty soon the mall cops will be in the news for being lethal with tazers...them pesky teenagers are trouble along with the old ladies....
Righties "support your local police," but righties also want their Second Amendment gun "rights" so that if the gummint comes after them or their tax money, a fast response is possible. herm
If the cop twisted her wrist and put cuffs on her libs would be outraged. Worse than tasering an old lady is the way lefties constantly beat up on the police.
GoatTroll, I'm just trending you. You say it's okay to do so stop crying like a little baby.
This is your quote isn't it?
"Trending is not that difficult. So many posters are giving Obama a pass on what they raked Bush for. They blindly ignore Franken's win vis-a-vis Bush's. And so it goes."
GoatTroll, I'm just trending you.
You're not doing a very good job. Need lessons?
You say it's okay to do so stop crying like a little baby.
???
Oh, yea, you're trying to make me into your image like some has-been deity who has seen better days. Well, I'm weary of feeding you, so I'm whatever you want me to be -- low self esteem, crybaby, whatever. You and montetroll get it all worked out and let me know, OK? This role playing game I play for you guys is getting harder so harder, so I'm leaving the grunt work for my trolls to figure out. LOL
A friend of mine was almost murdered by an old privileged white skank like this one. He was trying to do his job in a construction zone and an old fart ran him straight over. He said the old fart came at him and never used the brakes when she ran him and about twenty barricades over like a set of dominoes. If she is that ignorant, then tazer her once for her Reich Wing ignorance. Ask her if she is bothered by Obama as president in any way, and if the answer is anything other than no, tazer her again. Then ask her if she loved Sarah Palin, if the answer is yes, shoot her in the leg, and then tazer the hell out of the ignorant wench. Finally, if she won't sign the ticket, tazer the heck out of the piece of excrement one more time. I'd rather tazer a thousand old hags and weasels than scrape a couple construction workers off from the road. She is an ignorant piece of excrement and deserved much more than she received. If she'd been anything approaching responsible and ethical, she'd have signed the ticket and realized that she represented a danger to society. Instead, the ignorant weasel only illustrated the repugnant attitude of those who cannot see beyond that which does not relate directly to their own lives and especially how ignorance that transmits itself into danger.
"Worse than tasering an old lady is the way lefties constantly beat up on the police."
Yeah, almost 80 and I haven't beaten up a cop in weeks. No wonder Nancie, on a neighboring thread, accuses me of having Parkinson's. herm
