First of all Mister Nate Silver I dont agree with your accessment of the electoral map if you turn against the Hispanic vote for Sotomayer and still think you have a chance of winning the 2012 Presidency. I have lived in Minnesota most of my life and its not going to support a Republican and neither is Wisconsin or Michigan or Washington. You are correct in thinking you will lose Texas and Arizona for sure. Not sure where your head is or what your smoking but if you want to think this way fine. The Pubs dont have the votes to stop this Supreme Court Nominee anyways all they can do is make a lot of noise, cost you guys a lot of money and further isolate your party from how Americans voted in 2008.

Knowing Nate Silver's background as I do I feel pretty confidant in saying you are misinterpreting this article. First off, Nate is not a Republican. He is a centrist-liberal.

He is not saying the Republicans will win. What he is saying is what is with in reason. His approach in this article is from a purely statistical standpoint.

A full reading of the article paints a picture that is not totally hopeless but still very bleak for the Republicans if they were to sacrifice the Hispanic vote.

True that.

It's lose/lose with them on this one.

They alientate the Hispanic vote by opposing Sotomayor and yet they don't have the real power to challenge it and everybody knows it.

This move makes them look weak in the short term and weakens them politically over the long term.

Not a good place to be.

not totally hopeless but still very bleak for the Republicans

Bout that.

Be Well.

This article points out that the Pubs can win states they have not won in a long while while conceeding big electoral states like Texas where the Hispanic vote will rule in 2012. No matter what Nate Silvers backround there are no statistical chance in hell of the Pubs winning states like Minnesota, Michigan, Washington and Michigan in a Poresidential election if Obama runs in 2012.

...like Texas where the Hispanic vote will rule in 2012.

Not likely. And even so, the hispanics in Texas are more conservative than the Democratic party likes.

Politics done right=A contradiction in terms=never happened=say what!?!?

"Just ask me. I live in San Antonio where Hispanics are a majority and know them well.
