The important stories, the ones that will have far reaching impact, are often not the ones with the biggest headlines. This one has profound implications for every American.

Anybody that wonders why neither Bush nor Obama took a harder stance with China only has to follow the money as the popular saying goes. We are going to China with our begging hand out, and regardless of what anyone thinks of the Chinese, that's never a strong position from which to conduct foreign policy.

That reminds me of the scene in Braveheart when Robert the Bruce approaches the English commander on the battlefield to ratify a truce. The commander says to the Duke:

"I hope you've washed your arse this morning, it's about to be kissed by a king."

As I alluded to in my #2, China is one arse the king has to kiss. We owe them too much. Don't be surprised if we look the other way when they invade Taiwan sometime in the near future.
