Americans United for Separation of Church and State has asked the Internal Revenue Service to review the tax-exempt status of Liberty University in the wake of the school's decision to yank official recognition of a student-run Democratic club.

And so it begins. If the IRS revokes Liberty's exempt status, I would expect Liberty to take the issue to the Supreme Court.

they need to do away with any political activity on or as a part of campus activities. how stupid can they be? there are plenty of republicans who do NOT hold to biblical values - why single one or the other party out? kick them all off campus.

Holy crap, I substantially agree with Nanc. If they're going to disavow one group, they should disallow all similar groups. On another note, Liberty should not be the beneficiary of Federally funded student loan programs. Or her students.

Nanc,

You are talking about a place run by bible-thumping morons. You can't expect rational decisions by a bunch of ignorant backwoods hicks. Haters will always be haters. You can't get a worse kind of hate than that of a group of religious wackos.

On another note, Liberty should not be the beneficiary of Federally funded student loan programs. Or her students.

Why is that? It is an educational institution, just because you may not agree with what they are teaching doesn't mean it cannot be educational.

Tax,

Clearly our definitions of "educational institutions" differ. Liberty represents to me a subset organization of an agenda driven religious movement. As such, they should not have access to those funds.

Caltech, Notre Dame, Loyola Marymount, Princeton, University of Tennessee are educational institutions. Liberty is the propoganda wing of some strain of the Baptist Church. I'll bet that you can guess how I feel about school vouchers for Christian schools.

Liberty represents to me a subset organization of an agenda driven religious movement.

It isn't a church, so there is no separation of church and state issue. I can't think of any other reason for withholding funding.

if a student is willing to pay the loan back - what's your beef with that?

i beg to differ - i've never seen a more hateful bunch than MOST of the left here and they have no religion but secular humanism.

Seems to me there is PLENTY of blame for that kind of crap to go around, Ms. Nanc.

sar - do any of those people claim to be people of faith? as for me, i'm nice to everyone. yeah. nice.

i beg to differ - i've never seen a more hateful bunch than MOST of the left here and they have no religion but secular humanism

Oh, yeah, since secular humanists aggressively market their beliefs, willingly forsake rational thought for unproven hocus pocus, and think that everyone who doesn't agree with them deserves eternal torment...

...damn secular humanists...

Liberty U does not benefit society in any way.

My opinion on their beliefs is irrelevant... simply look at the outcome.

The "education" you receive at that "institution" does not prepare you to contribute to modern society.
