According to an analysis of climate legislation performed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the cap-and-trade system favored by President Barack Obama and many congressional Democrats could potentially damage the U.S. manufacturing sector and force jobs to move overseas.

The policy, under certain scenarios, for example, "can cause domestic production to shift abroad," reads the EPA analysis, and result in greater greenhouse gas emissions in countries that do not have similar cap-and-trade rules.

Last week Lisa Jackson said CO2 probably won't be regulated.

And now this!

Obama's gottas be pissed.

Won't be long before she resigns 'to pursue other interests'

"shows that the plan would reduce U.S. manufacturing capacity 0.3 percent by 2020 and by nearly 1.5 percent by 2050"

OMG!!!!

Even at that miniscule level, it's going to have more of an effect on manufacturing jobs than it will on saving the environment.

Hello Manufactoring jobs are gone gone already

*manufacturing*

This is what I'm betting on. Short US manufacturers, and roll the capital to long Chindia plays, make the money on an ever-widening spread.

Gobama!

And just pretend that the US is completely powerless to reverse the balance of trade.
Cap and Trade is not the problem cuz the problem was here long before Cap and Trade.
The problem is FREE TRADE!!!

Deal with that and Cap and Trade becomes of little consequence.

Another episode of right wingers pretending we can't have a vibrant economy and a healthy environment.

So they admit if we try to clean up our environment that they will go to countries that allow environmental waste.

Well, maybe we should just allow business's throw all their waste in our backyards.

Is there any manufacturing left?

Well at least me know GM, Chrysler and their suppliers won't be polluting anymore.

I read that manufacturing is operating at 70% of full capacity. Auto, truck and ship traffic is down considerably too. A depression does wonders for reducing CO2.

What are they going to do about the farts from livestock?

What about all those military jets, tanks, ships, bombs and bullets that pollute?

I believe China is now the major CO2 polluter. Are they going to put a cap and trade tax on Chinese imports too? I can imagine their gratitude at our helping them to save earth.

But somehow we remain the largest manufacturing country in the world. By a long shot.
