Maybe I am nuts but I feel they should get equal treatment IE equal praise too.

Larry

Why is it that the only ones who get praised during memorial day weekend are the Military

Because that day was set up to honor the servicemen who died in service to their country, not to janitors.

That's like asking why we don't honor Harry Truman on MLK day.

it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.
en.wikipedia.org

LaRi is a dep thanKer, arn't hEy?

WHY NOT HONOUR THEM AS WELL THIS MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY.

Because they didn't die in service to their country. That's what Memorial day is about. If that upsets you, lobby your congressman and both senators (you have two who represent you) for a day for the garbageman and a day for the janitor and a day for the firemen and a day for the band teachers and a day for the doctors and a day for the waitresses, and a day for the policemen, and a day for the farmers.

Larry, right now I am watching the final episodes of Band of Brothers, they have just discovered the concentration camps and freed the last remaining Jews.

Memorial Day is for the men and women that are no longer with us who served in the military and did the things that have to be done to keep our country safe, thing most people can't do and very few want to do.

Memorial day is for those men and women that have fought for America in war time and in peace, the men and women that gave their country their best and served selflessly.

Those who are no longer with us and helped give us the freedom we now enjoy through their military service.

Oh great we have tweedle dee and Tweedle dum. Typical if You ask Me.

Larry

Oh great we have tweedle dee and Tweedle dum.

So I was kind enough to answer you question (which I'm shocked you couldn't figure out) and the thanks I get is name calling.

Typical LarRY in spades if you ask me. Utter poppycock but funny dat be, you dig?

OK Larry. I agree. Let's also include garbage men, the workers in school cafeterias and ..... hmmmm .....the courageous workers at the DMV.

Warriors all!

hmmm . . another fine "progressive" crusading to "re-define" a long held concept

larry . . . as you stroll thru your community cemetery this holiday - -
ask a friend (if any) to help you identify the "janitor plaque's" & where the garbageman's section is so you can pay your respects

and WOW -
your fellow progressives are working on re-defining -
1) religion
2) marriage
2) climate change
3) the automobile
etc

. . . you get stuck with janitors & garbage men??

did u piss off the lib-bosses?
or maybe just a newbie?

good luck friend

Larry,

Government sends it's young men to die, so old money and power can capture the new money and new power. The dynamics are ever-shifting and unpredictable.

Sometimes the Gov't has to lie to make all this happen. When the soldiers are recognized for their sacrifices, it somehow makes it seem like the lie never happened, but it did.

In order to make the soldiers believe they are doing something useful and HOLY, the 'leaders' concoct all kinds of psuedo-religious 'honors'. In the case of killed/maimed/still active soldiers, it's memorial day.

Larry, let em have their day, it's all they have. When they wake up every night with nightmares of the horrors of killing, or the horrors of a beaurocracy where young men are trained to be killers, or when they put on their prostetic devices, they can feel that their lose is somehow noble. And those guys are the lucky ones. They lived.

Regardless of the idiocy of war, those killed/maimed were once children and have a mother and father. Most of them now already have children of their own. If nothing else, let the parents (and children) take solice for a pain that will never end, wherever they can, even if it's all a lie.

I honor my soldier son. Not because he is a soldier but because he knows right from wrong and because he is a good man. And he's my son. No government or no lie can change that.

Typical LarRY in spades if you ask me. Utter poppycock but funny dat be, you dig?

You know that's really pathetic. If You can not come back with a come back of Your own that You have to steal the ones from the one You are attacking makes You a double loser in My book. You DIG that Goatman???

Larry

There are a lot of unofficial "day of" and "week of" and so on like that. For example last week was medical transcriptionist appreciation week and my boss sent me a $20 gift certificate. (Thhwwwffftttt boss).

As for janitorial appreciation, perhaps some more people should join this message board custodian.info and express some thanks for its members, though there are only 174 members so far.

Larry, what about this? The families of the service people and the sacrifices they have made. They deserve more recognition.

It is national policeman week all the time. And the firefighters get plenty of recognition. Teachers are not neglected with lack of praise if they deserve it. Doctors get plenty of thanks. Waitresses get enough thanks. Farmers do have national recognition days I believe. As for garbage collectors, really they are a kind of truckdriver who truly are an abused and underappreciated group, but hell, they are truckdrivers.

Once again LaRrY feels left out.

Why don't we honor MohrOns, degenerates, sexual deviants?

What about loud mouthed ignoramuses?

When will we show our appreciation for pre-op lesbians?

***************

And the Answer...

Diversity is one thing, and Perversity is another.

You know it's taken Me a long time to figure it out but Mikey is sharing His fantacies again.

Larry

...Why is it that the only people applauded and herrold as heros during memorial day are the Military?? Why not the Janitors that keep Corporate America running smoothly. What about the Garbage Collectors that make sure our refuse is taken care of reducing the germs and disease in ones communities. What about the Teachers who Teach little Johnny how to read and to write?? What about the Band teachers who instill a love of music and to broaden our sense of self and culture. What about the Policeman/Woman and Fireman/Woman. The Doctors that help save lives. What about the waitresses who keep Americans fed?? Or the Farmers who grow the crops that we need to survive....

- Larry

Err, Larry? We already have a day set aside in honor of hard-working Americans.

It's called Labor Day

Larry, right now I am watching the final episodes of Band of Brothers, they have just discovered the concentration camps and freed the last remaining Jews....

by r_zeitgeist at 2009-05-24 05:20 AM

I was watching that episode of "Band of Brothers" at the exact same time you were. Chilling, wasn't it? I thought they did a good job in bringing to the screen some of the horror our soldiers must have experienced when seeing the inside of those concentration camps for the first time.

& thus did the appropriate thing?

LaRrY can't celebrate that either because he sits on his butt peg all day hoping his mommy domme shows up with a whip.

Larry--

Teachers have more recognition than they need or deserve. They even get prime time awards Teacher of the Year Awards.

Geez we even have Secretary Day.

And like CC pointed out--we have Labor Day for everyone.

Memorial Day is for the fallen and the missing in action.

Can't they have a day to themselves?

Watched Schindler's List last night.

What a movie! Saw it a while back. Speilberg is a master.

Porn titles:

Shindler's Lust

Pulp Friction

New Cunt for Old Men

Apussylipto

Don't forget a day for traitorous, cowardly ex-pats.

Larry eats paste.

I just love these fucktards. They don';t have anything decent to say so they make fun slam My thoughts on a particular subject matter. Seems to Me tyhey know I have a fucking point but they lack the guts to see it. Quite typical if You ask Me. Oh and Christine there is no reverense shown on Labor Day. Just another excuse day to drink beer and BBQ and thats it.

Larry

Just another excuse day to drink beer and BBQ and thats it.

And Memorial Day isn't?

Oh and Christine there is no reverense shown on Labor Day.

Larry, you said there should be a day for your list of workers. It was pointed out that there is -- Labor day. You claim there is no reverence shown. Well, whose fault is that? It's yours and anyone else who fails to revere the sewer worker.

Or are you suggestion legislation to force people to show reverence on Labor day? Exactly what is your point?

You brought it up, Larry.

Then again, I've seen Jay Walking.

I should say something decent to a shit stain like you?

Give me a fucking break Larry. You're deserving of no respect. I've said it to you before. I'll repeate myself, now. When you can manage to exercise some decency toward others who see things differently than you do, you'll get the same in return.

Turn about is fair play.

Did you just get a job herding turds down at the local sewage treatment plant after being out of work, soaking up the government money or living off of mom and dad for a few years?

Do you think your service to the community for the past couple of weeks has earned you a fucking parade? Maybe you'd like the marching band to play on your front lawn. How about the key to the city presented by the mayor?

Go drown your sorrows in a gallon of rockey road.

Fuck off Axiom this ain't about Me if You bothered to read what I wrote. It's typical of Your shitty balderdash now isn't it.

Larry is a hard core democrat as you know, so he is exhibiting democratic behaviour: "What about me? What about me? Where's mine? Where's mine?" He just can't understand that a serviceman who lost his life defending his country deserves a little more respect from his countrymen than almost any civilian.

What a fucked up brain that boy has.

I read your post and up until the name calling, I wanted to agree with you, at least partially.

Sadly, as with many other threads, you are incapable of keeping your emotions out of the discussion, and when someone questions your reasoning...well...it can only be because they're a dumb ass and they just don't understand your astounding and deep compassion for the little guy.

When in reality, you just suck at explaining yourself and you blow your wad with your first post. After that, it's back to the nonsense so typical of you.

You lie like a Rug. You want to sit there and say You wanted to partially agree with Me yet Your first post upon this thread was Larry Eats Paste. Bout as useless as a lint trap on an outside clothes line You re Axiom. Good Day to You too.

I'm convinced that you ate paint chips as a child.

I wasn't lying. I could see your point until I got to "Oh great we have tweedle dee and Tweedle dum. Typical if You ask Me." as a reply to two people. One of which deserved it because he's a stupid dick, the other offered up a fine, non-offensive explanation.

So I handed it back to you. I didn't do that because I thought Goatman needed a rescue. I did it because I think you have a shitty disposition. I did it because anytime a person offers up a comment that runs directly opposed to your own, they are "suffering from a deficiency in some area, dig?".

I once offered you an olive branch. I wrote that if you expect to receive cordiality, then you should give it. Instead, you smacked the hand that offered up peaceful discussion.

Don't be angry that you're receiving what you dished out.

"I'm convinced that you ate paint chips as a child."

Lead poisoning.

For all others, it's called Labor Day. Some military members make the ultimate sacrifice and you and all of the U.S. should honor them. Even those that don't die in service to our country deserve respect. If not, you may not like the outcome if too many people don't honor and respect them. Janitors, band teachers and even policemen won't be able to stop an invading army or, worse, an army that doesn't respect its civilian leaders. Google "army coups" to find out the results of treating military as "just another lifestyle".

There is a Labor Day, but the reasons for Memorial Day are perverted. Fred Reed writes on the idiocy of honor.

"Honor means nothing more than prickly infantile vanity dressed up, usually, in desperate class-consciousness. Of all the symptoms of a weak ego, honor is the most embarrassing, and the most harmful. In a right-minded society it would be made a capital offense. (In women honor usually means chastity, also a bad idea but not nearly as pernicious.)

"I do not mean to rail against the virtues, manly or otherwise. A few of them seem to have merit. Courage is doubtless admirable, at least when not engaged in by criminals or ambitious soldiers. Loyalty to friends in the face of adversity is to be commended. Common decency has its allure and occasional practitioners. Honesty? I think it worth trying, though with care until we ascertain its effects. But honor? It is a sure indication of a bad character.

"Military men are particularly susceptible to notions of honor, and should be indoctrinated against it in their formative years. They employ it largely as a veil covering their actual business, which has generally consisted in killing, raping, burning, and pillaging, in putting cities to the sword, massacring the unwilling conscripted peasants of the opposing army, and generating widows, orphans, and prisoners for the slave trade.

"None of this would seem particularly honorable if examined carefully, so it carefully isn't. The soldierly focus is on teary-eyed memories of fallen comrades, on the bravery of the cavalry at Balaclava or of the leather-jacketed bomber crews who burned a hundred thousand civilians to death per night, and such like."

He just can't understand that a serviceman who lost his life defending his country deserves a little more respect from his countrymen than almost any civilian.

I can't think of one case where America was at danger from being conquered or invaded since the Civil War. Some military mental midget will have to enlighten me.

What I see is American military power spread all around the globe, occupying other nations and starting wars in a game of geopolitical chess.

What I see is an accumulation of enemies out for revenge. They don't have to defeat us military. They are bleeding us economically, using our own stupidity to make us destroy ourselves.

The Founders warned against the dangers of a standing army. They were right again.

If you ever have served during wartime you would know. We honor the fallen soldiers not because they are hero's but because they gave their life for our country, that our liberty is the result of there blood spilled. If you could only understand.

As for this dolt. I won't lower myself to his/her level.

#31 | Posted by Washboard

You would have to raise yourself up to get to my level. But you know what they say, 'You can't fix stupid'. But you keep trying to suck off someone else because you are too intellectually lazy or ill-equipped to actually think for yourself.

All your existence requires is to stick your nose up the bell-cow's ass and follow along.

If you ever have served during wartime you would know. We honor the fallen soldiers not because they are hero's but because they gave their life for our country, that our liberty is the result of there blood spilled. If you could only understand.

Another myth. They gave up their lives for ambitious politicians who are obsessed over power and fame. Wars always end with losses of liberty. The real enemy is within.

The real enemy is within.

Ray, do you actually think any military people are smart enough to understand this 'esoteric' concept?

Average IQ of military enlistees = about 100. Not smart enough to think for a living but smart enough to follow some 2 and 3 step instructions if spelled out clearly.

Ray, do you actually think any military people are smart enough to understand this 'esoteric' concept?

No. This site gives me an outlet to vent my frustration over the destruction of this country. It usually pisses them off.

I understand. I want to revisit this subject with you someday, but right now, I've got to go ride my bike before the rain sets in. I mean that literally as well as metaphorically.

Since that's the average IQ period, do you have a point besides trashing the military?

Larry is in the vanguard of NewThink. Few of us believe that Larry is so absymally ignorant that he didn't know the origins and purpose of Memorial Day.

Larry values other cultures. But say Larry, although some of them have a day of the dead or something similar, we can have that in addition to honoring our military.

By the way, you can also memorialize your own dead on Memorial Day. We usually make the rounds of various cemeteries. This is not my idea, but is propelled by the maudlin sentimentality that is the nature of women.

Besides Larry, what's your gripe? You probably also object to auto racing and want other sports activities. You just seem to be a natural dissenter, Larry. It's dissatisfied folks such as you, irascible irritable guys, who are probably responsible for most progress.

Enjoy the day, whatever. Eat. Drink. Decorate graves. Your call. It's an excuse to party.

Sorry dead wrong Most of My male family members on My Fathers side raced cars. I used to be a huge NASCAR fan til Dale Sr died and that ruined that. I also love drag racing especially those Smoking Hot Force Women. Now Women's College Softball wooooooooweeeeeeee Talk about Yummmmmmmm All those Women swinging those bats around .Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh

Larry

It was the concept larry...........I guess you didnt get it. I am sure you didn't serve and I am
very sorry to see that there are people like yourself who look for reasons to tear down evferything instead of building and honoring the good in our society.
