Nuclear is going to be the power of the future considering how dirty coal is. Natural gas fluctuates in price too much and wind/solar/geothermal is not transportable. Plus, nuclear waste is flush with energy and can be recycled once somone devolops a technology to harness said energy.

If nuclear energy is the way to go, why isn't that dumbass Barack Obama having the U.S. use this source of energy instead of placing our future in windmill farms and solar panels?

Wasn't it the dumb Democrats who were all upset over letting Dubai run ports and now they are sharing nuclear technology? WTF?!!! Obama Sucks ass!

I wonder how much money Obama is getting from UAE for his next election?

No other way he would support this.

As an American, I'd rather have America control America's ports of entry.

I wonder how much money Obama is getting from UAE for his next election?

No other way he would support this.

Ask Dubya, he approved this first.

And UTA-still waiting for you to explain how Obama time travels.

"Wasn't it the dumb Democrats who were all upset over letting Dubai run ports and now they are sharing nuclear technology? WTF?!!! Obama Sucks ass!"

Stupid on so many levels that it makes me think UTASTAFF is really a lib doing satire. He couldn't really be that dumb.

What??

Oh? Ok, if you say so.

UTASTAFF I'm sorry I said you are a lib.

Well we can't build them here. You practice your trade where people appreciate it and you pick up a buck in the process.

Those who deny global warming and the need for carbon credits might want to rethink their positions because for nuclear power to be economically competitive with fossil fuel power production carbon credity bridge the difference in costs.

""It's estimated that a carbon "price" of between $25 and $50 a ton makes nuclear power economically competitive with coal. That should be enough to ease investor concerns about utilities that build new nuclear plants.""

"why isn't that dumbass "

That's a real solid argument you got there.

That's a real solid argument you got there.

Says the guy who offers this as an argument to a retort of mine earlier today:

"My wife, who was very non-racist insisted we leave, so I killed her."

There. FTFY.

You're a funny guy,
LetUsBray

He said nuclear power was an option....just not for the U.S.

If people would just start burning house cats we would have enough fuel to simply walk away from coal and nuclear power.

Yes. The stench of burning cat hair would be hard to get used to.

But just think of the advantages to this simple yet shovel ready approach.

And (and) we would also get rid of a lot of irritating cats.

The smell of burning cat hair would be vastly better than the smell of cat excrement.

How can something be so cute, yet so disgusting.

Obama: "Let's work to cut down on our dependence on foreign oil".

OK, can we build new nuke plants?
Obama: NO!

OK, can we drill off-shore?
Obama: NO!

Can we store our nuclear waste at Yucca as we planned?
Reid: NO!

How about a nice big solar plant in the desert?
Pelosi: NO!

Notice a pattern there?

The most expensive form of electrical Generation in the US, by far. Californias Diablo Canyon , one plant doubled PG&Es electric rates. Not an economic solution unless you increase release risks and dump unusable waste in other countries for free (like Somalia). 3 Mile Island killed thousands who were denied their day on Court.

How about this proposal.

Use aborted fetuses as fuel to produce electricity?

How could the current administration say no to that one?

(to much?)

' . . . the smell of cat excrement.'

But what if an unlimited supply of energy were unlocked but everything powered by it did smell slightly like fresh cat excrement?

Unlimited power at what price?

Use aborted fetuses as fuel to produce electricity?

They are more effecient as candles

Scientists have discovered a theoretical potential source of unlimited energy. They have given it the acronym RWHI. It stands for Right Wing Higher Intelligence. Unfortunately, the substance is only hypothetical because it has never been found in the real world. According to complex mathematical theory, the substance might exist deep, deep in a special type of variable "black hole", known as an "asstronomic hole" (or "asshole" for short.)

They are more effecient as candles

I never thought of that! And if you drop one and it breaks you don't have the mercury problems seen with compact florescent bulbs.

You might have a breakthrough. From personal experience I can tell you burning cats are troublesome as a safe and reliable form of room lighting. Plus they are super noisy.

asstronomic hole

Interesting how that term and you seem to have just found each other.

Shit, I've got to go to bed.

Nighty nighty.

And good night to all those members of Vice President Dick Cheney's death squad who are monitoring this website!

Yep,sleep well Zulu

In the future, after a dispute with the US they will throw us out and finding help where they may have nukes. This may just be the most foolish thing that our leaders past and present have done.

For some reason, when I read this, I think of the Bruce Willis movie - Fifth Element. When Gary Oldman (Zorg) is selling the guns to the aliens. When they didnt deliver actually what he wanted, he gave them one gun as compensation, knowing that they would press the red button and blow themselves up. Guess what, they blew themselves up.

Why do I feel that once we give UAE such technology, that they are going to press the "red button."

Why do I feel that once we give UAE such technology, that they are going to press the "red button.

LOL I remember that scene well. I never thought of it that way, but I'll be you are right.

But honestly, the first scenes with Leeloo after her reconstruction were much better. *grin* Also, I hate to admit it, but I was titillated by the blue diva as well.

Goatman - I love the Leeloo resurrection as well. I am actually a fan Milla Jovovich movies. Despite her being flat chested, she is a sexy actress. Speaking of blue aliens, I thought Rebecca Romign looked pretty good in X-Men.

Now I digress but my favorite Rebecca Romijn scene was in Femme Fatale when she is trying to make Anotonia Banderas jealous by dancing for some random dude on top of the billards table. Damn good.

Just have two windows on the Retort open..

hey northguy

obama is el presidente now, its called an executive order, or is he gun shy since his gitmo fuck up?

stop blaming bushco and grow some nuts and do what is right, at least what he thinks is right before he actually discovers he fucked it up again, and again, and again and again...

Ask Dubya, he approved this first.

And UTA-still waiting for you to explain how Obama time travels

"Wasn't it the dumb Democrats who were all upset over letting Dubai run ports and now they are sharing nuclear technology?"

Why are people saying this is a stupid statement? If you can't trust them to run our ports then you can't trust them to run a nuclear program.

I don't want them doing either.

Wasn't it the dumb Democrats who were all upset over letting Dubai run ports and now they are sharing nuclear technology?"

Incoming dose of reality to kick yet another righty's ass:

Brushing aside objections from Republicans and Democrats alike, President Bush endorsed the takeover of shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports by a state-owned business in the United Arab Emirates. He pledged to veto any bill Congress might approve to block the agreement.

Frist said Tuesday, before Bush's comments, that he would introduce legislation to put the sale on hold if the White House did not delay the takeover. He said the deal raised "serious questions regarding the safety and security of our homeland.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., asked the president for a moratorium on the sale until it could be studied further. "We must not allow the possibility of compromising our national security due to lack of review or oversight by the federal government," Hastert said.

Maryland's Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich, during a tour of Baltimore's port on Tuesday, called the deal an "overly secretive process at the federal level."

Those who expressed opposition to the deal included: The New York Times, Michael Savage, Lindsey Graham, The New Republic, The John Birch Society, Sean Hannity [2], Lou Dobbs [3], Laura Ingraham; Bill Frist and Hillary Clinton [4], prominent politicians from two different parties; Bob Menendez, John Gibson [5], Jon Corzine, and Peter King[6].

Right, and I'm sure no one will object when we want to start building those new plants.

OK, can we build new nuke plants?
Obama:

Obama: "I will set a clear goal as president," he said in his Democratic nomination acceptance speech. "I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power."

Barack Obama's new energy chief, Steven Chu, has outlined plans to strengthen support for nuclear and coal power,

Chu also promised to increase the dispersal of loan guarantess to firms seeking to build nuclear reactors

OK, can we drill off-shore?
Obama:

President Obama is quietly keeping his options open on offshore oil projects.

He told Democratic lawmakers last week that his administration may consider more drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf.

The May 5 meeting with members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee had been called to discuss climate change legislation. But Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., asked if the White House was going to reinstate the moratorium on drilling that lapsed last year, according to lawmakers there.

Obama replied that he would not, because the country might need to develop those resources.

"The president was fairly pointed in saying we need to have domestic production," said Rep. Gene Green, D-Texas, who backs such drilling.

According to Green, Obama said: "We are not going to drill everywhere off the shore of every state, but, if there is reason to get there, we think we can produce it (in an) environmentally safe (manner) in our own country."

If you're going to parrot the Party of NO, Dipsy, at least try and get your facts right, scary as facts can be to you righties.

I am so sick of the logic from the left that the Bush Administration did something so it is ok for Obama to do the same thing. Selling off the ports to Dubai was bad so is selling them Nuclear Tech. Bush rapidly expanding government and rapidly expanding our national debt was bad and it is bad for Obama to do it times 2. Nobody here on the left will rationalize Obama's actions other than to say that," Well Bush did it and Rethugs never said anything against it". That is a true adult kind of response.

Just for the record it is the Obama Administration helping a Muslim country gain nuclear tech.

How generous of Obama! Too bad Sadam Hussein didn't survive Bush, I'm sure Obama would have rebuilt the Iraqi Nuclear site which was destroyed by the Israelis.

Obungle's middle name isn't Hussein for nothing!

Just read every thread and not one expressed any concern for the Israeli nuclear threat.

Such is the state of politics in the US, I guess. Arab bad! Israel good! Seems a bit racist to me.

And you thought Bush loved them!!!!!!

where are all the smart ass motherfucker libs at condemning this action? Just what I thought. strangely silent
