Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Democratic leaders in the Senate plan to deny President Obama's request for $80 million to relocate the 240 detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and to indefinitely bar the government from transferring any prisoners into the United States. "I can't make it any more clear," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said. "We will never allow terrorists to be released in the United States."

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama's promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison suffered a blow Tuesday when his allies in the Senate said they would refuse to finance the move until the administration delivers a satisfactory plan for what to do with the detainees there.

HA HA HA

www.drudge.com

Already up yesterday.

Why does it seem most politicians didn't have Mastery of Self in the outside of DC world?? That it seems they had to run for elected office so they could feel "Masterful"??

Obama lied and nobody has died.

What do you expect him to do? Somehow go around Congress? If he did, you'd be on him in a New York minute. Try not to be such a hypocrite. On seond thought, strike that last remark. Just keep to your accustomed role as a puling hypocrite.

"Obama lied and nobody has died."

Major improvement over Bush lied and (at least) tens of thousands died.

Bush (who) lied

"What do you expect him to do? Somehow go around Congress?"

No. I expect that if he was ever serious about closing Guantanamo Bay, he would have come up with a plan before he asked for the money to do it. You know, like how anyone else would have to do if they asked for money for just about anything.

But because he probably never planned on closing it in the first place, he asked for it with no plan, knowing they'd reject it, and he and people like you can still say he tried to follow through on his promise.

Obama lied and nobody has died.

Time Obama started treating the Constitution like a damned piece of paper like Bush did.

"he would have come up with a plan before he asked for the money to do it. You know, like how anyone else would have to do if they asked for money for just about anything."

Joe, you apparently never heard of George W Bush. His last little no-plan-needed caper was that three paragraph 700 billion dollars for the banks brain storm. Before that there was Iraq, where planning for anything longer than a photo op was frowned upon....

Is this aimed at me?

If so, I've been against torture long before the election, back far enough to argue with Bowa when he was still peddling Rudy G. thongs. If so, you're fucking retarded and so is straw man.

If not, have a good day sir.

YOUR* straw man

"Joe, you apparently never heard of George W Bush."

LOL. I visit this site, don't I?

What do you expect him to do?

I would expect him to have a plan to close Luxurious Club Gitmo -- not just a request for millions of dollars.

If Bush asked for that much money -- with no specific strategy -- you'd be like stink on shit. Which, of course, you are familiar with.

Joe, you apparently never heard of George W Bush.

This has to be one of the most obvious attempts at deflection I've seen on this site.

Joe may be right. Seems odd that he would request money without a plan. Not having a plan seems out of character for Obama. I would expect that of Bush, but I have a hard time believing that Obama's admin just forgot to come up with one. Sounds suspicious.

Seems odd that he would request money without a plan.

Maybe you should ask the Dems in congress. You know, the ones denying Obama funding because he has no plan. While you're at it, write Harry Reid a letter telling him he has no idea how budgets work, and that he should pass this request.

OH OH>>>>LOL LOL LOL

LOOK joe.....obama gets fucked by his own and what is the only response we get from our liberal bros here....they attack you and me and bush...
is this not the most typical crock of shit you have ever seen and the hell of it is for them is
THE DEMS HAVE PROVEN THAT BUSH WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG WHEN IT CAME TO GITMO.....

and that is the sweetest thought of all..

ha ha ha..
I cant stop laughing at this shit......

Wait, Gitmo is still open? Bama promised to close it. Wait, we are still in Iraq? Bama promised we would be out of there long ago. WTF??????

#18 | Posted by afkabl2

Please learn to read...not just listen to Rush. The vote came because there is currently no place to put the detainees. No state will take them...yet...

Why is Richard Reid good enough for SuperMax, but these detainees aren't? If he really wants it done, threaten to cut prison funding if they don't take them...just like they were cutting road funding if they didn't pass seatbelt laws.

hey syco

let me ask you a little question..nothing too hard

and why is it that you think bush kept gitmo open in the face of all the bullshit he was getting??
because they knew there was no other place as good as gitmo and they didnt give a shit what the french or middle east thought about it.

and now JUST LIKE OTHER foreign affairs and national security issues that obama is pissing the left off with..

HE NOW KNOWS along with dems that there is no better place for these people....if there were..
THEY WOULD BE ON THIER WAY THERE NOW>

so you see..no amount of crawfishing or trying to SPIN It will change this fact
BUSH WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG...........

Wait, Gitmo is still open? Bama promised to close it. Wait, we are still in Iraq? Bama promised we would be out of there long ago. WTF??????

~Monkeyspaw

Long ago? Got a cite fer that or are you just being a moron?

Gitmo IS closing and the troops ARE coming out of Iraq.

Unfortunately, George Bush's fuckups can't all be fixed over night.

Be Patient.

Be Well.

iraq...is that the guy that stewart showed the clip of??

the guy who admitted to taking a brain out of his victim and eating part of it.
yeah I see that point that he is in prison in the US...but isnt the fact that these guys when killing people kill thousands if they can....

and of course the other point is PR....I think thats a simple fact regardless of which party is calling the shot.

Unfortunately, George Bush's fuckups can't all be fixed over night.

Yes, we are quite familiar with your posts.

there was no other place as good as gitmo

Probably the first time in history those nine words were ever put together in that order.

Are you totally insane, Bushlicker?

BUSH WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG

* facepalm *

Wow, you must spent every waking moment of yer day thinking about new ways to be wrong.

Are you trying to set some kinda record?

Do the Guiness people know about you yet?

Yeesh.

Be Well.

Bama promised we would be out of there long ago. WTF??????

Stop drinking the bong water.

Closing GITMO is stupid.

Obama doesn't have a clue as to how to deal with these detainees. Bush didn't either, for that matter. So, he's going to relocate them purely as a symbolic gesture - however nothing actually changes other than more cost to the taxpayer.

Stupid.

Pelosi wants a crack at some of these mother fuckers - Jack Bauer style.

so deth..

if bush was wrong.,..then why is gitmo still open
why havent THIER OWN COUNTRIES TAKEN THEM BACK WHEN ASKED.
why did obama just sign off of it with no plan...

because BUSH WAS RIGHT>........

it wont cause permanent damage to you to admit it this time........

I mean not if you made it THIS LONG BEING ...well you know...
you........

Obama lied and...when these people get out of U.S. prisons...people will die.

Poor little Dethpud, pull the string on his back and he will say "Bush's fuckups will take a long time to fix." This will be the left's slogan for the rest of The Bama's term. We sure didn't hear that during the campaign! Oh wait, be well

"Obama lied and nobody has died."

How many US soldiers have died in Iraq since January? One dead is a major disaster.

and lets also not forget the afghan civilians who have DIED AT THE HANDS OF OBAMA.........I mean...bush is in dallas nowhere NEAR the trigger for those drones and other things.

so where is that outrage??????

iraq...is that the guy that stewart showed the clip of??

No, Richard Reid is the shoe bomber.

oh....same point though I am sure....

"Bush's fuckups will take a long time to fix." This will be an undeniable reality for the rest of The Bama's two terms.

FTFY.

No charge.

and lets also not forget the afghan civilians who have DIED AT THE HANDS OF OBAMA.........I mean...bush is in dallas nowhere NEAR the trigger for those drones and other things.

so where is that outrage??????

Do you blame the guy who dropped the glass of beer on the floor or the guy who's cleaning it up?

When Obama starts a war then you can complain about the number of deaths that occur and lay them at his feet.

Iraq and Afghanistan are Bush's Wars from the get-go.

Yer faux outrage here is sort of amusing though.

Keep it up, assclown, maybe one day the rest of us will esplain to you why yer just too fucking funny.

K?

Be Well.

He never had any intention of closing Gitmo, it was just a talking point to keep the libbies on board. Now he can pretend that he'd like to close it, but that Congress won't let him.

Form over function. But look for all the so-called lefty concern over prisoners' rights to gradually fade away to nothing, now that Gitmo is under new management. In fact, funny enough it's now a minority-owned enterprise. And you can't touch those.

"But I don't want to be ambiguous about this," Obama said. "We are going to close Guantanamo and we are going to make sure that the procedures we set up are ones that abide by our constitution...."

".. as soon as Harry Reid comes up with a plan. What? That's MY job?! Bullshit, buddy, I just make the flowery speeches!"

NOPE>..you just cant get out of it now...
OBAMA HAS KILLED CIVILIANS IN AFGHANISTAN....

Guantanamo: Bush has brilliantly left a bone large enough for dems and libs to choke on....

Gitmo... Senate dems are afraid to close it because Cheney is waiting in the wing to 'waterboard' all those who do.

Uhhhhhhh why is Takitez obsessed with choking on bones......

.....large bones.....

But because he probably never planned on closing it in the first place, he asked for it with no plan, knowing they'd reject it, and he and people like you can still say he tried to follow through on his promise.

I had a similar thought when I first heard about this.

But I do suspicion much better than I do hope.

well well

look who has chimed in again..old hag...(get it get it...old hag??)

anyway....you both may be a little right but I think its just a matter of obama taking care of his base without thinking about anything

THE PR moment was the only thing that mattered...
remember he signed off on this TWO days after the CORONATION

I had a similar thought when I first heard about this.

I think suspicion of government officials is healthy, despite what the O'tards may tell you.

Our nation has a history of corrupt individuals running things, the last 8 years being the worst example.

If (and when) Obama actually closes Gitmo, I'm sure you'll join me in giving him and his admin a big fat kudos. Until then, these actions require skepticism, and besides it's fun to poke it in the O'tards' collective eye once in a while.

he campaigned on it, he signed the executive order on it, and now he is not doing it. got to love it.

what an idiot, and even more so you morons that believed him.

so here is the same question i ask we after week since jan, can this administration go one week without stepping on its dick?

Closing Gitmo was a PR ploy to antagonize people against merited Bush administration activity as the media acolytes spread the nonsensical message of the Democrats that obtaining information and imprisoning noxious enemy combatants was wrong.

These are dangerous people. Even the Europeans won't accept them. Now the legislators are providing cover for Obama so that he won't need to close the facilities. We could score a few points with the Chinese by returning some of these terrorists to them. But somehow, concern for the welfare of these terrorists causes us to protect them from the tender treatment they could expect from the Chinese.

It's unfortunate they don't budget racks and screws so that the inmates can be properly entertained, and their menu should feature pig and pig products as the only meat. The Koran should be printed on toilet paper. And misbehaving inmates should be educated with flashlights.

The Bush administration succeeded in averting major terrorist attacks after 9/11. Will the Obama administration be as successful? If not, will its policies gain traction as Americans opt to be Darwin's Dropouts and inveigh for their own extinction.

Obama wants to close Gitmo, but the Senate Dems aren't going to do it, cuz they're ass-hats.

That has yet to be really seen. Talk is one thing. Action is another.

He could just be seeking political cover for not closing it. Now he can just say those big bad Senate Dems kept him from going through with it. Requesting the funds without a plan makes me suspicious about his goals here.

You must be very trusting and naive to just take a politician's word for it like that.

If they are so dangerous, then why have more than half been released without being charged?

Clinton: I did not have sex with that woman...
Obama: I tried to close Gitmo...

******************************
**

Lefties, please get some sleep; at least Gitmo citizens are getting halal and nutritious food, excellent medicare, library, perpetual retirement...

Iraqi,

And over 60% of the ones release have been recaptured or killed.

So..Obama and the Dem Congress (and all of you) savaged Bush about Gitmo "We got to close it now", "They need to be put into our legal system" have now come to the realization that everything we said was right:

1) There is no place else to put them (the "allies" will not take them and we do not want them on American Soil)

2) They do not fit into our Justice system (enemy combatants are not read the Miranda Rights - Military tribunals are the best way to go.)

So...they are stuck with "Bush did the right thing". Kind of sticks in your craw a little huh?

Not the last thing we were right on...and soon you will realise that all you fear from the right (Government control, Lack of Freedom, Gestapo Tactics) is actually coming from who you voted in.

I'm glad that someone with a half a brian(Harry Reid)is calling out the little two faced bullshitter that sucked you fools into voting him in POTUS. Then again I dont thing that the liar in chief really intends to close or withdraw troops or even stop the torture. Its all just campaining for him. Say one thing and do another. Soon enough some of you will catch on, not the dumb potatoe, but some of you just might stop bleeting like sheeple at some point.

So OohRah doesn't want to clean up Americas Image. He wants to be known as the terrorist nation the United States has become known as?? Typical if You ask Me.

Larry

Remember, it's their intentions that matter. Not results.

Obama, Pelosi, et al, intended to close Gitmo during the election. Now they don't have a clue on how to do it.

Who really care's though?

They got elected.

Gitmo or no Gitmo, they won and that's all that really matters.

can't say it any better -- it was all politics to gain power. To deny this is to simply deny facts -- whoops! Forgot, #1 rule of the liberal. corner.nationalreview.com

I trust that it'll get closed, eventually. Guess it won't be such a smooth process. Oh, well.

U.S.Govt:"Thy Name is $Greed_Driven Terrorism!"

Hey "Terrorists" have been running the US Govt for the past 60+ years!!! What were Korea,Vietnam,Iraq and Afghanistan etc. but US Govt "Instigated" TERRORISM designed solely to enrich and expand the American Military-Industrial Complex!

Halliburton Once Again Saves the Day!!!

So then why not let Dick Cheney's "Halliburton" arrange the transfer of Gitmo prisoners and next provide them with housing, meals, clothes etc.state-side? Halliburton can then bill (stiff) the always accomodating US Govt, next the relieved Dems in the Congress and Senate can once again pretend they have no "blood" on their hands and the American taxpayers won't object,at this late stage to forking over yet another $Billion or so dollars to Halliburton! Its a Win Win situation not to mention the perfect True Blue "Bush-Obama" Solution!!!

Ever had the feeling you've been lied to? - John Lydon

these guys are not goin to be released but transfered which makes little sense -why not leave them where they are-gitmo gotts bad rep -so f--kin what-so do most pens in us -this a non issue made into a great one for pols they can talk and posture and IGNORE the real issues facin the us
jasman

What's the problem here?

Just dump the terrorists back in their home countries.

Why should we care if they will be mistreated in their own countries? I guess it sucks being them.

Simply board the plane, land in their countries, deboard the terrorists, and leave.

Who cares if they are denied admittance? They will still be back where they came from.

Problem solved. Close Gitmo.

Cheney speaks....Obama and Dems fall into line!

Moral of the story: Bush was right!

Cheney waterboarded Obama today --- but Obama survived, and the libs who derived their righteousness by opposing waterboarding are still solidly behind Obama.

"Cheney waterboarded Obama today...

#68 | Posted by takitez at 2009-05-21 03:44 PM"

Takeitez - Cheney jacking off to a photo of Obama is not called "waterboarding." If you can help it, try not to be such a dumb shit.
