The former U.S. attorney general and the FBI director cannot be subjected to a lawsuit by a Pakistani man claiming abuse while imprisoned in New York after the September 11, 2001, attacks the Supreme Court ruled on Monday. The nation's high court overturned a ruling that Javaid Iqbal, who was held more than a year after the attacks, can proceed with his lawsuit against former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller. Iqbal, a Muslim, said in the lawsuit that he had suffered verbal and physical abuse, including unnecessary strip searches and brutal beatings by guards. He said he had been singled out because of unlawful ethnic and religious discrimination.

The guards are now suing 'Iqbal', as he never disclosed he was a Paki, so they didn't double-glove as required during cavity inspections.

The Bush appointees will now repay Dubya for the appointments.

I'd feel sorry for the guy, but if he's anything like Tosser he probabaly deserved what he got.

Iqbal knows that regular americans are subject to the same abuse by cops everyday. it must be something in the water.

I'd feel sorry for the guy, but if he's anything like Tosser he probabaly deserved what he got.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic but I like Tosser. All my life, especially during my school years, I've known guys similar to Tosser but these guys came to the U.S. for an education. There was always an exaggerated sense of national pride for their homeland but after a while I realized they had a veiled sense of admiration for the U.S. they tried to hide.

Anyways it's interesting to get a Pakistani like Tosser's take on things without the filtering of the government and mass media watchdogs.

...admiration for the U.S. they tried to hide.

I know what you mean. They have the US Civics version of the USA. Sometimes I think they see past the drama that people in the US have grown up with. They see what our country was meant to be. Things we may not see.

Great call by the SCOTUS

Praise be to Allah for this ruling.

"Supremes: Detainee Can't Sue AG, FBI Director" The opinion was voiced by Antonin Scalia or Diana Ross? Quick, what does Rush say? herm

Quick, what does Rush say?

Don't know, Herm. You seem to be more concerned about his opinion that I am, so why don't you tell me?

Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts, has never voted for the Defendant since entering the Court. Clearly this BASTARD has repaid the Republican Party for thier support. When will these Fucks, start acting like Americans rather than Republicans?????

'Clearly this BASTARD has repaid the Republican Party for thier support.'

God you are an idiot.

Good call by the Supreme Court.

This is just the thing the right would have tried to use to persuade people to stop the torture investigations.

The Supremes actually helped the investigations go forward by taking this 'talking point' from the republicans. Great Call!!

So much for RICO.

RICO,

This guy had money?

Well, at least they (the Supreme Court) got this one right for a change!

Did anyone expect any other kind of ruling from the right wing supreme court? Right wingers support torture as long as they're not the ones on the receiving end.

The problem is, the constitution says other wise.
Always has, always will.
Just because you are elected, appointed or otherwise in service to 'We, the People", does not insulate you from justice. Does not protect the court, either.

This is what your criminals have brought to you.

WOW, what an article. It didn't say anything except the ruling. Who put him in prison, and which prison was he in? What was he charged with?

He wasn't charged Sniper. Detained. Held in a New York jail. By his account and other evidences, the guards physically abused him and others.

Just because you are elected, appointed or otherwise in service to 'We, the People", does not insulate you from justice.

Look up sovereign immunity. It's a disgrace but it's the law.

He wasn't charged Sniper. Detained. Held in a New York jail.

So.... Who picked him up, and what was the reason? You realy glossed over that one.

He's right. This case was DOA.

I'd feel sorry for the guy, but if he's anything like Tosser he probabaly deserved what he got.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing at this!!!

FF!

SCOTUS continues to "Aid & Abet" the Criminal Bush Regime!!!
The US Supreme Court refused (with no explaination) to hear any factual, well researched cases that held the Bush Regime liable for 911 and criminally instiging the Iraq War.Now SCOTUS has shown a very quick and abrupt about_face in getting "involved" but only because a lower U.S.court found that SCOTUS's criminal "pals" like Ashcroft and the FBI were liable and responsible for the abuse of innocent people arrested on very trumpt up charges of 911 involvement!
Cheney and his "Bum Boy" buddy Justice Scalia must be having one hoot of a laugh over this latest (corrupt) ruling!

Sovereign immunity is illegal under the Constitution. So is executive privelege.
No one, not congress, not the executive, nor the judicial branch are above the law. As well, they cannot put in place any policy or rule that does the same. The accoutrements of royalty. Its in there as well.
But of course, they use the trump card, national security to hide theirs, and our crimes.
Or at least crimes supposedly perpetrated to ensure OUR sovereignty. And still the constitution says you can not do so, to commit crimes and insulate yourself under some cloak of secrecy, most especially when that secrecy exists to con, fool or otherwise deceive the 'People'.
That would fall under the classification of subversive acts, also addressed in the Constitution, and says so specifically.
At this point in time, all three branches of govco. and their various appendages within our society are the single greatest subversive threat, and there by the single most dangerous threat to liberty and freedom.
