Rand Paul, son of former Republican Presidential nominee candidate Ron Paul announced on Rachel Maddow tonight that he is running for US Senate for the state of Kentucky.

"For the past fifteen years, Dr. Paul has been the chairman of the Kentucky Taxpayers United, a group that monitors and rates the State Legislature. Dr. Paul has been traveling the state of Kentucky for the past several months meeting, talking, and gauging his support. Feedback indicates that Rand Paul will enter this campaign with a serious political force."

Well, the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.

Rand? Did Ron Paul name him after Ayn Rand? Is his other kid named Mises?

There is always Rand McNally Maps.

R Paul announces bid for Bunning's senate seat.

I didn't know Rue Paul was active in politics. Good luck with that.

Hehe, it's short for Randall. Funny, though. Of course, "Mises" is too close to "Moses", and he'd end up being incorrectly referred to as "that Jew".

Paul doesn't have a shot if he has to coordinate with the national party's money people, just like anti-war dem candidates in 2006 had to contend with Rahm Emanuel. They'll support his challenger in the primary.
