Florida's popular Republican Gov. Charlie Crist is confirming that he will run for the U.S. Senate next year instead of seeking a second term.

So now....will the conservative Republicans support the governor who so loudly supported Obama and the stimulus bill???
I'm glad he did, don't get me wrong but I wonder if he will get enough Democratic votes to make up for the Republicans who won't support him.

Don't look at me dan, I can't vote there. My guess is the reps will go along with the least liberal of the people running. What do you think, or can you?

Did anyone see the article about the documentary "Outrage" which makes the claim that Crist is a closeted homosexual?

I wonder where the basis for this claim came from.

Isn't that how the dems have the reps kill their own, without a trial?

Personally, I could care less if he is gay, but it seems the documentary filmaker thinks that he is obligated to out Crist because of Crist's anti-gay agenda - that seems like a bogus excuse to me.

The question is whether Jeb Bush decides to run. I don't think a true Dem has a shot at the spot. Crist is like Snowe or Specter, while Bush is more like...well, a Bush.

"The question is whether Jeb Bush decides to run."

He already said he isn't going to.

He is going to face a real right winger for the nomination, we'll see if the "gay" thing becomes an issue. It was pretty common belief around Florida but DAvis, his Democratic opponent in the governor's race never brought it up. If Marco Rubio, his Republican opponent in the primary doesn't make an issue of it then it won't be one during the election.

I wonder where the basis for this claim came from.

It came from the same kind people that claimed Obama had sex over drugs in a limo with a gay guy.

As to Crist running--the Senate Repubs already back him--per CNN.

isnt martinez not real conservative?
and is he even still there?

He's got danni's vote ;-)

...the documentary filmaker thinks that he is
obligated to out Crist because of Crist's anti-gay agenda...

A classic liberal strategy: the use of FAG logic

Actually, he got married not too long ago....to a woman, of all things....

Kind of sad. Crist has screwed up everything since McCain didn't pick him. He's impatient, got married, got bored (especially with that). Hey! I can run for the US Senate! Cool! People will be interested! Nothing there really, but what can we expect after Jeb Bush?

Nothing he is just like his brother, if not worst,
he was my governor for years, Believe me the country doesn't need him. and i voted for him the first time he ran.
We got rid of the bushes, lets keep it that way-----

It came from the same kind people that claimed Obama had sex over drugs in a limo with a gay guy.

No Muffy.

It was Rush, and it was with a middle eastern cab driver on one of his "lost" weekends in NYC.

Crist will have an easy walk to the Senate if a stronger Democratic candidate isn't found. So far it is political midgets only who have announced.

i'll be cheering for his opponent, marco rubio:

"i'll be cheering for his opponent, marco rubio:"

Us Democrats will be grateful if you do. That really is the only hope of a Democratic candidate....that the Republican ideologues will reject Crist for being so welcoming to Obama and the Stimulus.

He get's most of his money from realtors in Florida.

Go figure.

But hey! Nanc is 100% pretty much sure that he might not be gay.

I am going to entertain voting for Crist. I like the job he is doing as Gov and, while I would like to keep him as Gov, he would do much more for my state in the Senate.

Governor Crist connects Florida and Israel in trade

Hundreds of people plant seeds in Israel every day. But at the end of May, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist planted a much more symbolic seedthe seed of a relationship between Florida and Israelduring his visit to the Jewish state.

Kanrei does this have anything to do with your decision?

Don't know anything about that. If you read me here, you would know I am not pro-Israel. You need a new trick for your pony Rasta, not all Jews share a brain.

Besides Rasta, anyone who read teh Constitution knows that treaties with forgien powers can only be made by Congress, not by states, so the story is total BS.

I guess you think the constution actualy means anything to the power grabbers in DC and around the world. You know, the libs believe it is just a piece of paper.

"I guess you think the constution actually means anything to the power grabbers in DC and around the world. You know, the libs believe it is just a piece of paper."

Why do so many people reflexively say that? The "libs" don't believe the Constitution to be "just a piece of paper" any more than the right believes it's divinely inspired holy writ.

In fact, it's neither. It's a great document, with great ideas, but it's hardly perfect. Witness the 27 amendments. With, no doubt, many more to come.

You know, the libs believe it is just a piece of paper.

Wasn't it your hero who called it a "goddamed piece of paper"?

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

I've talked to three people who were either present for the meeting that day or had knowledge of what happened inside the meeting and they all says the President of the United States called the Constitution "a goddamned piece of paper."
