Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, May 10, 2009

Abshir Boyah, a towering, notorious Somali pirate boss who admits to hijacking more than 25 ships and to being a member of a secretive pirate council called "The Corporation," says he's ready to cut a deal. Facing intensifying naval pressure on the seas and now a rising backlash on land, Mr. Boyah has been shuttling between elders and religious sheiks fed up with pirates and their vices, promising to quit the buccaneering business if certain demands are met.

Arrrrghhh, 'tis hard out here for a pirate
When he's tryin' to get money for the rent
For the AK-47's and the money spent
Because a whole lot of mullahs be talkin' shit.

I thought they could only spend one day on shore every ten years.

It ain't easy being a pirate:
O the year was 1778How I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowA letter of marque came from the kingTo the scummiest vessel I've ever seenGod damn them allI was told we'd cruise the seas for American goldWe'd fire no guns, shed no tearsNow I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier,The last of Barrett's Privateers2. O Elcid Barrett cried the townHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowFor twenty brave men all fishermen whoWould make for him the Antelope's crewGod damn them all . . . .3. The Antelope sloop was a sickening siteHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowShe'd list to the port and her sails in ragsAnd the cook in the scuppers with the staggers and jagsGod damn them all . . . .4. On the King's birthday we put to seaHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowNinety-one days to Montego BayPumping like madmen all the wayGod damn them all . . . .5. On the ninety-sixth day we sailed againHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowWhen a great big Yankee hove in sightWith our cracked four-pounders we made to fightGod damn them all . . . .6. The Yankee lay low down with goldHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowShe was broad and fat and loose in staysBut to catch her took the Antelope two whole daysGod damn them all . . . .7. Then at length she stood two cables awayHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowOur cracked four-pounders made awful dinBut with one fat ball the Yank stove us inGod damn them all . . . .8. The Antelope shook and pitched on her sideHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowBarrett was smashed like a bowl of eggsAnd the main truck carried off both me legsGod damn them all . . . .9. Now here I lay in my twenty-third yearHow I wish I was in Sherbrooke nowIt's been six years since we sailed awayAnd I just made Halifax yesterdayGod damn them all . . . .

Argggggg. I say make him walk the plank or keal haul him.

What kind of country would actualy negoiate with someone that says "I'll quit robbing you if you pay me $100 million."

We should say, "I'll send you to the bottom of the sea if you ever threaten another ship."

A friend sent me this in an e-mail

Kind of projecting a robin hood image. How about releasing the hostages. Sounds like he about to go down any how. Might as well beg for forgiveness. Lock him up. He he. At least he'll keep his hands.

Kinda hard to pirate a boat on the land than it is on the high seas. You can't just paddle Your pirate ship fast enough to make it to the ship that You want to steal from.

if certain demands are met.

LOL

Maybe they should make him an offer he can't refuse.

How about . . . you quit the pirate business and we won't turn your ugly carcass into shark food.

RCADE:
Can't read the article because it is a members only paper. How about posting the whole article???

This is very sad. The man and his group found a niche, and now "the establishment" is seeking to harm the little guy and deprive him of a livelihood.

Is there some sort of international ACLU? Well, in the meantime how about Amnesty International intervening in behalf of the pirates?

This is an outrage. Why is it that if ideologically motivated terrorists such as those detained at Guantanamo can be given a bye, a businessman cannot be cut some slack? Why this discrimination against entrepreneurial folks?

Maybe if he declared that his depredations were in the name of Islam, a group of American leftists, sort of like the Guantanamo sympathizers/advocates can form a lobbying and pressure group, get good PR with the media, and secure not only amnesty, but payment of his demands.

This sounds as if it can be another cause adopted by the American loony left.

Johnson, you are completely batshiat insane.

All you do all day long is make totally bogus strawman arguments and then knock them down and then declare the left to be the lunatics in this picture.

Ya wanna play "Spot the Loony"?

Check out yer shaving mirror first.

Yer smarmy attempts at snarkasm with their everpresent and not-so-subtle undertones of racism do little to advance yer wingnutty agenda and much to lower people's estimation of your ability to debate honestly.

K?

Be Well.

Aw come on deth. I'm jealous because as batty as I get I haven't perfected regarding myself in the third person, and I don't as you do, have multiple personalities. I'm jealous because of the number of mirrors you need to regard yourself.

You are a simpleton, deth, but in a complimentary sense. Who could provide the amusement you do. And we do need another lexicographer developing his own language. When will you publish a glossary to provide guidance to those of us who delight in your novel use of language, but want to be certain that we correctly apprehend your every utterance.

But you're always there with a closing benediction, deth. Have you ever considered employment as a cleric?

Sorry about the "yourself" deth. I don't want to be critical of your delusions. It should be "yourselves." I don't want to appear to be a "Doubting Johnson." If you believe your multiple personalities are real, I'm sure they are to you deth, and I don't want to question them.

You're an enjoyable toon, deth.

And your introduction of "racism" is the last refuge of a person without an argument, resorting to baffle 'em with bullshit, a practice at which you are an adept.

You are the ideological racist, with a philosophical and idealized regard for race, who indulges stereotypes rather than empirical data. I can't recall ever having posted anything advocating harm to black folks. If I did, it would have been an anomaly as I have consistently sought favor for blacks, and even considered advocating affirmative action policies that discriminate against others as I consider the need to practically integrate black people into this society at all levels regardless of their level of competence to be an overriding necessity.

Where you come up with "racist" as if I advocate harm to blacks, is testimony to your delusional nature, and "the program" which causes you to misperceive reality.

Then again, you may be accusing me of racism against non-blacks, a posture which might have some merit based on my advocacy of incorporating blacks into all levels of society without regard to their relative capacity and merit. I am still formulating my position as I find it grievous to discriminate against anyone. What can be done to incorporate a group that is less able intellectually as if they possessed equivalent capability. To what extent can a meritorious system based on evaluation of individuals be maintained consistent with integration as a value. There are of course, constitutional obstacles to affirmative action but the high court has heretofore managed to ignore such constraints.
