Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.

Pelooney is a liar. She needs to go.

As I noted on the other thread on this topic, I wathced excerpts from an interview Rachel Maddow did with Pelosi. I don't know what the rest of the interview was like but when it came to this subject Pelsoi was hemming and hawing, shucking and jiving. Time to get the full torture story (and its component stories) out. Not just who proposed, designed and carried out this disgraceful policy but who was complicit.

Everyone that issued these orders, everyone that knew of these orders and had the power to stop them and chose to do nothing should be tried for war crimes and murder.

We now see that Abu Ghrahib was not "a bunch of bad apples" acting without orders that the last administration wanted the public to believe. Those soldiers were scapegoated to protect the real parties behind the torture authorization.

Are you kidding Goatman? You beat me on this by one minute!

Democrat, give her a pass.

Pelooney is a liar. She needs to go.

I'm sure she was the only democrat to know this.

Democrat, give her a pass.

Nope. Have you ever read the DR before? Pelosi has very little support here.

There is apparently some discrepancy about whether or not she was told they were already using waterboarding, or just that it was on the list of tactics. But if she's lying about what she knew then she should be exposed for being a fraud and lose her leadership position.

I'm sure she was the only democrat to know this.

Post your evidence and I will call for their resignation as well.... and every republican that knew too.

Exactly. However I can think of a few that will give her a pass on this because she is a Dem.

I can think of a lot more rightwingdings here that will/have given any Nopper a pass because of their party affiliation.

Nancy Pelosi is the most divisive speaker of the house we have ever had, I enjoyed watching her squirm around trying to word her answers extremely carefully so they would not be just an outright lie. Nancy and many other people want this story to go away, well like it or not this story is here to stay. Nancy has made a tirade of hypocritical remarks that she can now explain to her constituents in light of the fact she knew much more than she admitted and will more than likely be caught up in blatant lies before this is over. The WHOLE truth is coming out now not just selected pieces to be used for political gain, this is good for both parties to cleanse themselves of the worst of the worst Goodbye Nancy and take the bitch from homeland Security with you...

Post your evidence and I will call for their resignation as well.... and every republican that knew too.

You idiot. Everybody of consequence knew.

You think it is a coincidence that you are just now reading that Pelosi knew about it 7 years ago. Every effort is being made to cover up what everyone knew about this then.

You completely miss the whole point. Her knowing about is isn't a big deal to me. She, along with most member of congress, probably believed it was justified and not torture.

What is wrong is that she came out against it when it was politically favorable to her to do so knowing she was aware that it was going on and chose not to do anything about it.

I must be freinds with your husband I say that...

BINGO DEAD BALLS ACCURATE

Now the time has come for the WHOLE truth to come out and it's a big shit sandwich and ALL involved get to take a big bite...

You idiot. Everybody of consequence knew.

Then you should have no problem posting your proof.

Idiot.

Here's your proof 726. You've got a lot of calls to make.

Then you should have no problem posting your proof.

How much time to I have? This thread is about information on what someone knew 7 YEARS AGO.

You damn well know that anybody who knew anything about torture in 2002 is trying to keep that from being public.

In time, in time.

You've got a lot of calls to make.

That's good. Now for anyone on that list that knew of the use of torture on anyone in custody they need to be prosecuted under federal law.

That includes Bill Frist, John McCain, Russ Feingold, Pelooney... anyone.

I don't care which side of the aisle.

I hope you can say the same.

You are absolutely correct. But your post about her not being the only Democrat that knew implied that you knew of others.

Now considering that it was 2002 when the Democrats did not control Congress I would hazard a guess that more Republicans than Democrats knew about specific torture.

why?

#20 | Posted by eberly

Because if they authorized torture they broke the law.

I have no trouble believing that.

Because if they authorized torture they broke the law.

Authorizing is completely different from knowing.....and much harder to run from.

I hope you can say the same.

I can. But you and I both know that this government is far too corrupt for anyone to be held accountable for it. So, let's not hold our breath.

Apparently there were 19 Dems and probably more Reps that were briefed. Only two Dems protested and they were Jay Rockefeller and Jane Harmon.

We need to examine the entire "program" and put to rest the argument as to whether or not these "techniques" produced actionable intelligence rather than sending the FBI, etc., on a wild goose chase.

Place that "information" against the intel that was obtained using approved methods employed by the FBI so that we may put aside the argument that something is to be gained by these methods.

I've only watched 24 once but I'm familiar with the genre. I don't need the drama or the rush when Jack really nails a guy. It's voyeuristic sadism.

Pelosi et al have condoned these methods by affirming or simply withholding an objection. The Congress has power and it is plain they saw no need to exercise it - as long as the whole sordid affair could be kept secret.

We have a Sunshine law here in Missourah and I say part the clouds, clear the smoke, and let the chips fall where they may.
