Former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough is disturbed by the hatred he is hearing from some members of his own party and has taken it upon himself to urge them to tone things down. "We need to be conservative, but like Reagan," he said Sunday on Meet the Press. "We can't scare little kids."

Republicans to Scarborough: "Drop dead"

Republicans to Republicans: Drop trou!

I agree with Barnacle in that although politics has always been nasty, Nutty Newty upped the anty along with the Scaithites who spent millions to ruin an elected President.

LEAVE U.S. ALONE, JOE - IT'S OUR TURN TO BE TOTAL ARSEWIPES!

myob, joe...

Nanc shows her faux christian values once again.

Joe Scarborough

Dropping hate like a dead intern since 2009.

outrage, rasta - outrage.

This makes Joe JARINO, just another RINO, of which, statistically speaking, there must be more of than Repubes by now.

...now Republicans want to pay back

There's plenty of valid criticism one could level against Obama and his administration, but some conservatives can't seem to help themselves from going off the deep end of hate.

Some (on this site, and elsewhere) accuse Obama of being "stupid" - as if any of these balloonheads could procure a janitorial position at Harvard, let alone become President of its Law Review.

Beginning with the "Raygun Revolution" and the subsequent Contract On America your party has OWNED that title.

Yes, show no more hate than the left did to the Bush Administration over the past 8 years:)

The extreme Clinton Hate Factor from the Right meant that GW was going to get some payback no matter what.

GW just did everything possible to make sure he deserved every bit of it.

Many universities are looking for more subjects for animal research. Gene-knockout mice, in particular, can be pricey.

I don't think they'll mind too much that the "knockout" is endogenous, though...

Would he get extra vacation time or a bonus?

Joe was referring to a web ad against Obama that was shown to him on the show.

I do agree that it is better to discuss the policies and how wrong they are than hatred like the left and many Dems did against Bush.

I don't agree that descriptive words like socialist or Nanny-in-Chief are hateful.

They describe Obama's policies.

Barnacle is funny--like everything started with Newt--lol

I'm all for your socialist/fascist nonsensical rants. I love it when "Sean" or "Rush" does it too. The Republican Party will become entrenched as a regional party of reactionary fruitcakes, but their ratings will probably go up, so it's a win-win.

The rats in our psych lab's feeding studies got to eat mushed up oreos - that's a nice perk - but only after having their brains injected with chemicals to selectively, temporarily inactivate very specific nuclei of the hypothalmus.

Then, of course, their brains had to be removed, cross-sectioned, stained, and of course studied.

As this has effectively already happened to UTA, it wouldn't be much of a change from the status quo; however, it'd further our understanding of the ravages on the brain caused by delusion.

I do agree that it is better to discuss the policies and how wrong they are than hatred like the left and many Dems did against Bush.

We did it after Bush started a war with lies, instituted secret warrantless wiretapping of citizens, and created a global gulag system complete with torture.

You could at least wait until Obama signs the Employee Free Choice Act before you lose whatever mind you were granted by God and circumstance.

I dunno. Without a hypothalmus, UTA just wouldn't have any personality at all.

Fair is fair...I started on Bush when he was declared the winner and it became clear the election was stolen. I shut up around 9/11, but started up again after the war in Iraq started. Bush was attacked on day one by many Dems who felt payback was due for Clinton who was attacked by the right because they felt payback was due for Bush and Reagan. It is a cycle that must stop sometime. The question is: which side is big enough to do it?

kanrei - let's measure behinds!

I was hoping the left would have been the ones to get past it after 8 years of Clinton deflections, but I was wrong. Let's pray for 2012 and for one party to finally MOVEON.ORG

Barnacle is funny--like everything started with Newt--lol

Not everything. But there was a distinct and discernible shift in the tone of politics when the Newts took over. Prior to that, there was much more civility and real attempts at cooperation.

It went downhill on both sides from there. But guys like Lee Atwater and Uncle Newtie were the architects of a whole new style of politics.

Let me start by saying I am not blaming RUSH, but the level of discourse sank when he became successful and others tried to do what they thought he was doing and not even coming close. Their success then forced Rush to lower the bar even more and his renewed success gave birth to MSNBC and FOX whose success then forced CNN to lower the bar even more.

Basically what I am saying it that the bar was lowered the day news shifted from a "loss leader" to a "profit center."

I like Scarborough.. (Roll Tide)..

His point is well taken, if allowed to just stand on what he said. A great deal of Reagan's success was undoubtedly his (most of the time) friendly disagreements.

The ability to disagree vehemently with someone's ideas, while remaining friendly is a difficult one to acquire.

But, Republicans should NOT acquiesce to principles and values that we deem wrong just to get along. Friendly, yes, chicken.. no.

Not so much. In a functioning democratic republic such as ours most people would refer to it as maturity, or 'being an adult'.

Question - do you hate FNC as well? As long as you're hating corporate whore networks, let's at least complete the list, shall we? Or is corporate whoredom not truly the relevant criterion in this case?

I'd have thought you would be cheering Scarborough on, given that he's one of the few (only?) conservatives to have a show on MSNBC.

AFKababble: He hates, and isn't afraid to let the whole internets know about it.

*** Scarborough to Republicans: Drop the hate' ***

I don't disagree completely, (see how calm I am).. but read the posts on here OR watch the debates on news channels. The temptation to get angry if you feel strongly is hard to resist.

There's a reason people suggest to avoid discussing politics or religion in polite company. It's hard to keep the company polite!

Question - do you hate FNC as well?

No, he loves FNC since they are so fair and balanced.

And Bill O is the second coming of Edward R Murrow or Ric Flair, he is not quite sure yet.

Well, as long as there is plenty of TP available...

zara

here is a news flash for you
joe S is NOT a conservative...hasnt been one for some time and not sure if he ever was one..

but here is where I am happy to admit something to you guys.
DONT TELL ANYONE

with every passing day of the obama takeover...I am going more and more to the independent view even to the extent of being almost 'libertarian'.

as was explained on the beck show last week.
on the line of party dogma or whatever you want to call it...the dems and republicans are an equal distance away from the 'democratic republic' founding of this country.
I tend to agree with every report from ANY news source.

SHHUSSSHHH just between us here

Well, FoxNews does, but the proceeds got to Australia, and the Washington Times does, but its biggest lifeboat is the Reverend Moon.

Odd how the most "conservative" outlets of 'fair and balanced' opinion and content are owned by foreign kooks.

joe S is NOT a conservative...hasnt been one for some time and not sure if he ever was one..

Of course not. Only the rare few qualify, and only they are taught the secret handshake...

Carry on, AFK

tend to agree with every report from ANY news source.

sorry I was distracted by big tits heading my way

meant to say that I am agreeing with independents and libertarians who post HERE with every new day of the "OBAMA TAKEOVER" because I supported and still do support bush on the war and his SUCCESS at keeping us safe but could never support his spending and that TARP shit...

we MUST return to the intent of the founding fathers and as I said...each day I get moved a little closer to ron paul and his ideas for lack of a better way to put it.

What if Bush's "SUCCESS" at "keeping us safe" was printed on big warm comforting tits?

How would you rate Bush's "SUCCESS" then?

a) more positively

b) more negatively

LOL....gotta go. Carry on my ignorant infantile little fuck.

bite me...

thats just your way of trying to handle the truth.
( and PLEASE NO ONE give us the line from the movie after I said that)

its a dem and lib M.O. to say that when faces with facts you cant deny and its also obvious you have no knowledge of government so you cant respond to my admission of rethinking my entire political idealogy.

so nice contribution....knucklehead.

Can't resist: How about if you got Bush in his flight suit tatooed on some big comforting tits. Would that make you feel safe?

Jesus fucking christ!!!

Could anyone be as fucking stupid and proud of it as afkababble???

You could even have "keeping us safe" tattooed on the warm, comforting, snuggly big tits to remind you why you convinced some woman to have "W" in his flight suit tattooed on her tits in the first place.

(Boy, is she gonna be pissed when you move back in with mom.)

The Dems hated Bush for 8 years and continuing.... I guess Joe is trying to be better than libs and dems....

I supported and still do support bush on the war and his SUCCESS at keeping us safe

yeah, other than that silly 9-11 thing, innumerable terrorist attacks in Iraq, afghanistan, turkey and the whole anthrax deal,it was truly a Mission Accomplished. Well, that as his balanced budgets.

Joe should focus more on not killing his bimbos, and less on convincing the righties that not having a plan is a good plan to run on, according to daddy Rush and the Rushettes

We did it after Bush started a war with lies, instituted secret warrantless wiretapping of citizens, and created a global gulag system complete with torture.

#22 | Posted by BetelG at 2009-05-04 03:11 PM

Obama is following the same plan McCain put forward re Iraq; residual force in a non-combat role indefinitely.

Obama has a couple votes on record indicating that he is not opposed to the surveillance systems put into place by Bush. See Telecomm immunity and the Patriot Act.

He also banned torture with the caveat that his administration would be reviewing "aggressive" interrogation techniques to be included in the army field manual, potentially creating a loophole around the torture issue, since the "ban" was actually just an order declaring that all interrogations must follow the manual.

(Boy, is she gonna be pissed when you move back in with mom.)

That was really funny, boyd. But it would have been an outright knee-slapper if you had added "in the basement" at the end.

As usual "Raw Story" lies about what Scarborough said. After reading the lengthy transcript the closest word that came to "hate" was the word w..hate..ver. "Whatever" is an awful big twist to come up with "hate" even by the standards of taking things out of context. Lies are why I quit reading Raw Story two years ago. They are there only to feed lies and distortions to keep their unknowing readership riled up.

www.msnbc.msn.com

But it would have been an outright knee-slapper if you had added "in the basement" at the end.

He can't project that because his current dwelling is a trailer house.

It amazes me that many on this thread are still willing to say that the negative comments on bush and his tenure were unjustified.

I guess all is well on planet vicodin.

Dumb and stupid cannot be interchanged. They are not the same thing.

Bush did the same thing, and McCain supported it. You must've voted third party. It's good to see voters putting principles above party.

Maybe when people stop saying things like, "clear the election was stolen" it will stop.

It is kind of sad when someone chooses to brag about Obama's acomplishments in college. Accomplishments in academia have very little relevance in the real world. Perhaps if Obama choose to practice law in the real world instead of teaching in academia he could have been a successful trial lawyer or maybe not.

I started on Bush when he was declared the winner and it became clear the election was stolen

Whine ,whine, whine. I found the whole 2000 election rather amusing. I voted for Pat that is what made it even more entertaining. I did manage to get down there for a week on vacation. I can't tell you how proud I was when Gore wanted to disqualify all overseas military ballots. I had a blast down there. Best vacation I ever had.

Odd how the most "conservative" outlets of 'fair and balanced' opinion and content are owned by foreign kooks.

Actually Murdoch is an American citizen. He had to become an American citizen to buy the NY Post.
He is as American as Obama. Both are citizens although neither was born here

He did. He also taught constitutional law for about ten years.

Do you pride yourself on being ignorant?

Really show me the transcripts from all the court cases he tried. Obama hid in academia because he was afraid of his Kenyan shadow

Real Issues? Hmmm.I guess it is irrelevant that the President was born in a botton feeder third world cesspool but Kenya has some nice tourists spots so I guess it is OK.

Timbci, it's time to stop posting.

Think of it as an intervention.

Of course republicans are full of hate.

As with any dysfunctional family when any member of the family speaks about that hidden secret (insert secret here) they are torn to shreds from the remaining family members who are too shamed to admit the truth.

We are witnessing a cleansing of the republican dysfunction. The more people speak out the quicker the cleansing will occur...

Same thing happened for the Dems a few years back.

They were the party of NO. They were in the desert. They didn't have any leaders. They didn't know what to do.

--------

timbci--don't go there with the birth certficate or Obama born in Kenya thing--it ain't working.

What Scarborough and Specter and every other moderate right winger doesn't seem to understand is that with mouth pieces such as Limbaugh and Hannity, the current GOP is married to spewing hate and bile. MOderation within the GOP is simply not an option. And it won't be until after repeated drubbings at the polls, a less toxic, less poisonously social issue oriented Party emerges.

Joe's been watching some old tape of Palin rallies.

Timbci's been hitting the crack pipe again.

Fact is, had Obama actually been born in Kenya, that would be enough. In other words, without having to refer to it as "a bottom feeder third world cesspool". That part would indeed be "irrelevant".

But since President Obama was not born in Kenya, his post is irrelevant.

Then again, maybe timbci's just helping Scarborough out by proving his point for him.

On the other hand, I'm willing to give him points for referring to "the President", instead of some other nice words the tards like to use.

I am going more and more to the independent view even to the extent of being almost 'libertarian'.

We don't want you. Your unquestionable "patriotism" and loyalty to the republican party line is evidence of poor judgment.

We don't want people with poor judgment.

Stay where you are because your ideology isn't shifting. You're embarrassed to be associated with the republicans. Not that anyone could fault you for the embarrassment, but it is of your own doing.

we MUST return to the intent of the founding fathers and as I said...each day I get moved a little closer to ron paul and his ideas for lack of a better way to put it.

If you're moving closer to Ron Paul, your support for the war is based out of what? Fear? Ignorance? An overwhelming urge to kill brown people?

I find it curious that, now, after Obama has been elected you're "moving closer to ron paul" and you wish to "return to the intent of the founding fathers".

This is what hypocrisy looks like.

People are saying this is payback for how many people reacted to Shrub. Well - when he was first elected, Mr. Bush received a HUGE amount of public support. After 9/11 he had the goodwill of the majority of Americans on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. It took a great deal of work, on his part and on the part of the people pulling the strings in Washington, to bring that support down around his ears. But we did NOT start out screaming hateful things about him. The obstructionist repulsicans in Washington are not doing themselves any favors by their actions at this point in time. And if the Obama administration turns out to be a success for America, the obstructionists are going to be in a very bad place, indeed. Right now what they are mostly is a punchline for jokes and hey, that has to hurt.

Dumb and stupid cannot be interchanged. They are not the same thing.

It's when the GOP drops the social issues and focuses on fiscal conservatism and stops spending like a bunch of drunken sailors. Then, and only then will GOP have a chance.

Until then, their complaints of big spending sound hollow - and nobody gives a shit about their "family values" positions on abortion, gay marriage, etc. Those who do care aren't about to vote Democratic anyway - so those issues should be left aside.

fuck off scarborough you shit faced bastard, no one gives a crap about you...in fact most people hate you

But the problem is, they've done the most to create this huge unwieldy Deficit that we now have. And I don't mean just G.W., but all the way back to

How do you defend 30 years worth of enormous Deficit spending and still remain a viable Political Party?

THe truth shall set you free.

"Prior to that, there was much more civility and real attempts at cooperation." - SA

This just isn't true, there was a great line Nullifidian used to say. Something about "you always think your times are the most exciting/greatest/most...."

I can remember in college, people hanging effigies of Reagan in the dorms. There have been such divide and hate in this country they actually had a civil war. We are no where near that. We have had very civil protests, in the teabag parties. Sure some people are little extreme, but hardly what I saw in the Reagan days.

People on this board exhibit anonymity issues, and it seems harsh at times. But it only shows that individuals lack of self control, and poor vocabulary.

This just isn't true, there was a great line Nullifidian used to say. Something about "you always think your times are the most exciting/greatest/most...."

I originally said that in the context of sports fans thinking that whatever the most hyped team/athlete they're watching is the greatest ever. Of course, old people tend to flip that around and think the "good old days" weren't just good but better. Sometimes it's true.

We can't scare little kids." On his own MSNBC program the next day, he emphasized again, "They've got to drop the hate."

Apparently, Scarborough does not watch MSNBC.

The GOP is married to the politics of hate. At this point, if they "drop the hate" the Party will cease to exist.

Fact.

Scarborough just wants to collect a check each week.

He has permanently cut his ties with the right and he hates the left. Each day he comes to work knowing his co-workers can't stand him.

His side kick, Mika Brzezinski alternately says incredibly stupid nonsense to blathering gibberish and spends most of her time looking like a worried mother every time Joe gets a even slightly miffed.
