Drug Wars leaving decapitated heads in public streets and swine flu fears growing daily are taking their toll on the Mexican tourism trade.

People are dying and those who aren't dying are hurting.

Wonder if anyone is considering how many more illegal immigrants are gonna be hopping over the border when things really go in the shitter?

Even if the CDC does suggest eventually that the border be shut down the resources are simply not there to do an efficient job of it.

Man, this is gonna get ugly.

Be Well.

1 damned comment and The Spudster has killed my buzz. Have the decency to let me talk about the drug crap, damn!

Man, this is gonna get ugly.

I live in SoCal and we already know what this is all about.

Sarah Palin goes on American Chopper.

Seriously, watching her cynically cultivate her "just folks" image fer the benefit of "real Americans" in a blatent attempt to try and stay relevant and in the public eye has just gotten really, really sad by now.

Be Well.

/Off topic?

//Meh, Is Spud's thread. Not like anyone's gonna read the damn thing fer fark's sake.

It has to be strange Spud, looking in at a world that you're not part of and wishing you were.

Strange and vaguely sad.

Wot? Mexico? Hardly!

Be Well.

Fairnuff Spudman. After the Palin person talking to the Man Mouth, my buzz is coming back. Fun to watch the fucker go off-often.

Good. Mexico is my playground since it is so cheap and accessible. Maybe junkets will get even lower in price. I may look into a trip to Mazatlan.

Have you been down to Guadalajara, or Lake Chapala?

Ajijic is a nice place, you get cool breezes off the lake.

Watch the argument become that we must grant undocumenteds amnesty immediatamente so that they can all send money home to brevent a further influx of migrants.

Opposition will immediately diminish in a combination of guilt and self interest to a degree that will enable congress to push through the legislation with more than the appearance of bipartisanship.

Have you been down to Guadalajara, or Lake Chapala?

No I haven't. I usually hit the beaches since I'm a beach bum sort. But I need to expand my horizons, I admit.

I have not heard of Ajijic. It's nice?

Now I have that Steely Dan song Guadalajara going through my head. Thanks a lot. *grin*

Ajijic is mostly ex-pats, so it spendy.

You'll find probably everything you need there.

Navigating the cobblestone streets is tricky if you don't watch your step.

The town of Chapala is about as authentic as you can get.

What is the nearest airport? Or does it have a major one?

There's actually a very simple test for swine flu that you can administer yourself. Only takes a second. www.doihavepigflu.com

FWT --There are none that good but there are some for less than that a day (including air) to Mexican beach resorts. I was checking them out yesterday. I think I'm going to take a trip there next week. I like the Pacific side, though -- especially Mazatlan.

How about a 99 day cruise aboard a slow ship to China locked in a storage trunk?

Cos if yer interested Spud'll start a collection!

Spud is pretty sure most of blogworld would be mighty generous there in order to enjoy a much needed vacation from yer inane rants.

Be Well.

In fact, we welcome all infected Mexicans to come over for free health care! After all they are entitled to it, aren't they!!???

First they'll deny it's a big problem - just a handful of people, everything is fine, come on down... Then, once they figure out they can get the US to send $ aid, it will be a disaster with the additional benefit of scaring more peasants across the boarder. Hilary will then hop on a plane with a big fat check for a posh trip and photo-op as the great humanitarian.

That is so coool!

Great test there dude!

There are about 12 cruise ships that were originally going to Mexico but all are going to stop here or up and down the CA coast instead.

We have two in here today. (San Diego)

#1 Spud, you are sooo right on this. Just hope Mexico can keep it together without imploding altogether.

Difficult to tell if those estimates of lost tourism are accurate because people were increasingly avoiding Mexico due to its problem with a huge number of drug gang killings and their increasing barbarism of those killings. Swine flu was the finisher on Mexican tourism.

Maybe American tourism will increase especially since King Obama is trying to demonize tourism and stays at resorts domestically.

You can fly to Guadalajara and take the bus down to Chapala(very comfortable), and then take the local bus to Ajijic. Down the road is Johotepec(sic)more south.

When you are in Jalisco make sure you do the tequila tours. Jalisco is where the maguey cactus grows. I took the Herradura tour, they are the oldest and the most authentic. I have lots of pics, I'll work on putting up a folder on photobucket.

Before they had yeast to kick up the fermentation, instead the workers would jump in the vats, the natural yeast on their skin did the trick.

MURF,

Isn't San Diego the place where people have to drink their own recycled piss?

From an article in today's copy of USA Today, according to govt reports approximately 750,000 people and 325,000 vehicles a day enter the U.S. at more than 100 border crossings. In addition, 165,000 people per day enter and leave via airports. Well, uh, could be a problem.

News flash: we are all drinking "recycled piss" to one degree or another. Unless you're getting your Aquafina from an extraterrestrial spring, the water that is here is all the water that is here and has always been here.

If it is costing them that much in lost dollars, what are they spending to contain the mexican pig flu?

Funny, I am reminded of all those racists that said we would elect a black President, when pigs fly - enter swine flu!
