There have been no confirmed deaths in the United States related to swine flu, but another virus had killed thousands of people since January and is expected to keep killing hundreds of people every week for the rest of the year -- the regular flu.

1st US swine flu death confirmed.

If the regular flu does not kill you, still you think you are going to die from it.

This whole thing is retarded...remember how the bird flu was supposed to wipe out something like 30% of the population?

All distraction tactics to avoid the exposure for war crimes related to torture and allowing the financial institutions to rob our treasury right in front of us.

Yeah, just go and tell that to the people that have died from this so far.... tell them it is retarded.

I am sure that will make them all better.

All 7 of them?

The First death from Swine Flu in the US (23 month baby in Texas) is plastered all over the teevee this morning meanwhile 36,000 people a year die from the regular flu and not a word about it.

To say all this swine flu coverage is overblown is an understatement.

Be Well.

I did my part in curbing the spread of swine flu.

I hope this hits the Mex's especially hard. Drink plenty of water.

----

9 out of 10 being people older than 65 with other health problems, according to the article.

Those that died from the swine flu have been young and health.

Exactly!

He is less than a human being because of that.

What I have to laugh at is everyone in the "information" industry giving play to the notion that the "information" industry is spending too much time talking about this.

That is akin to setting fire to a house then complaining about it burning.

It is a typical media cycle to cover a story, then over cover it, then cover the over-coverage, and repeat.

"To say all this swine flu coverage is overblown is an understatement."

Rarely do we agree but this is a time we do. Enough already.

Are you suggesting all the Swine Flu coverage is filled with pork? Those pigs!

Are you making light of this horrific flu?

How dare you! Don't you know it's a serious snoutbreak?

...er "outbreak".

Be Well.

/Yes, stolen from Jon Stewart.

The current flu outbreak may indeed be overplayed and sensationalized (I don't know, and I wonder how the people on this blog who claim to know, do know?) but there will be another one that rivals pandemics of the past. Given the nature of the influenze virus, it is inevitable. And it will start exactly like this one.

Exactly!

WTF does that mean? There have been no US citizen deaths!!!

read Goatman, he knows of what he speaks. This shit may not be "bad" right now, but it'll be back year after year for awhile. Until there's a build up of defenses, it's gonna be fucked up (young, old, healthy, sick, whatever).

Guess what? The flu comes back every winter. Also, the strains are unpredictable at the time the vaccines are made, which is why they are largely useless.

H1N1 sounds oh so scientific instead of SWINE. Yeah, I wear a mask on the bus, may be a bit much but who cares I'm a medical ninja. Thou Shalt Sanitize Thine Hands

When was the last time the gov't or the WHO raised the threat level of the regular flu to 5 out of 6?

This is one level short of Pandemic.

It will take 4-6 months to develop a vaccine.

The only saving grace is that it's NOT the flu season.

And they won't close the borders.

And they won't tell us about the toddler that died in Houston. It is a family from Mexico. So did they come here over the border or not? Who else was with them? Where did those folks go?

There are two ships coming from up the coast. They were headed to Puerta Vallarta.

They are diverted to San Diego. Good for us --4500 people get to come and spend their dollars here. Bad for PV.

Do the math folks...sure, lots of 36,000 people a year die from regular flu, but millions get it. So far, just by today's reported Mexico numbers, this bug has a 6.5% kill rate. Little different that the garden variety.

Regular Flu is not man-made such as the Swine Flu. This stuff was made in a lab with swine and bird flu RNA. The government is brushing it under a rug.

Why do you think it appeared in Mexico about the same time Obama visited. Damn terrorists!

I am so sick of the hysteria that is being pumped up about the FLU. Guess what? People get sick and die every day from something. I don't know why this is sooooo special. Are people really that pathetic and stupid to buy into this hysteria. Your in a lot more danger due to TYRONE AND FREINDS than you are due do piggy piggy flu.

What's the mutation rate?

I got the 'flu' flying home on two weeks leave from the Navy.

It laid me out for 10 days straight. I don't mean just being lazy, sitting around with the sniffles. I actually couldn't move my arms and holding my head up took so much effort. in the Navy, when you're sick, you just keep moving and I rarely let a cold or even the flu slow me down, but this was too tough to try to ignore. I was taken to the hospital and they couldn't figure it out so they called it 'flu'. I literally spent my vacation at my parents house laying in bed too weak to move. It broke just in time to enjoy a few days with my family before having to board a plane back to Jacksonville.

I've never had anything like that before or since and wouldn't wish it on Karl Rove. Nasty stuff.

I've never had anything like that before or since and wouldn't wish it on Karl Rove.

I've never had it until last year when the rig medic convinced me to take a flu shot for the first time because of my age.

I'll never take another one.

We should be so lucky.

Nice boar Zatoichi.
Handgun or rifle?

Took my last from horseback.
.357 at about 15-20 feet coming out of thicket.
Makes the hair stand when they charge. Very tasty sausage.

"Nice boar Zatoichi."
Thanks, 550lb Sow

"Handgun or rifle?"
Rifle; Weatherby Mark V Super Varmintmaster in 7mm-08.

"Took my last from horseback."
Shot her in the front pasture from my driveway.

"Makes the hair stand when they charge."
Dangerous game; When I hunt 'em on foot I carry an M-14.

"Very tasty sausage."
That's what my ranch manager said.

Cheers!
