Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter has announced that he is switching his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat and will run in 2010 as a Democrat. His switch gives Democrats a 60-seat filibuster proof majority in the Senate if Al Franken wins the Minnesota Senate race.

This has been going on for quite some time.

Toomey may take it all now.

"Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans."

Arlen is pragmatic if nothing else. How many more GOP'hers will follow suite?

Toomey may take it all now.

It's a shame in one way, Specter would have beaten the crap out of Toomey in the general, but he would have lost in the primary - so we'd only see the Dem walk away with the seat.

Toomey doesn't stand a chance, but what the heck.

Senate 60.

The left is taking over. Old bigoted republicans are dying off.

60, huh?

Lets see if they have the nerve to use that filibuster proof majority.... and to what end.

Coming soon to the Party of NO.
NO seats.

Whatever my party affiliation, I will continue to be guided by President Kennedy's statement that sometimes Party asks too much. When it does, I will continue my independent voting and follow my conscience on what I think is best for Pennsylvania and America. - Arlen Specter

Seems to me that there was an Operation Chaos for the PA primary that caled for anyone and everyone to register as a Dem.

LOL!

Lets see if they have the nerve to use that filibuster proof majority.... and to what end.

Honestly, I think they'll squander it.

I hope they don't, but I would not put money on that. I may lean left on some issues, but I know it's a politician's nature to make foolhardy uses of power, regardless of party.

"The left is taking over."

Not the left, the center is taking over. As Spector says, the Republican Party has shifted so far to the right that moderates are more in line with Dems.

Arlen gets to attend the Dem policy meetings NOW.

It's all about power.

He nearly lost the last time he ran except that the repubs had his back.

Seems to me that there was an Operation Chaos for the PA primary that caled for anyone and everyone to register as a Dem.

How did that work for you dumbfucks?

This is too funny. I wonder if this is part of that GOP comeback we keep hearing NOTHING about.

It is fun to watch the GOP die a slow death and take the morons like Murphy down with them.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA! GOP Goodbye Old Perverts!

-Operation Chaos for the PA

That Rush must not know his own strength, eh?

Yeah, and PA is in play and Murtha is going to lose his seat huh Murphy?

PA is in play--will have to wait and see. Betcha' Murtha loses too.
#57 | Posted by MURPHY

That is how stupid everyone realizes you are.

Find a mirror. You are not smart. Learn to deal with it.

And the Dems were in the same boat as the repubs --not too long ago.

If the Dems can make a return--so will the repubs.

"Honestly, I think they'll squander it."

You too?

Murtha had the race for his life.

Are you trolling?

Nope, just pointing out the stupidity that you display here Murphy.

Deal with it. You are not smart.

He nearly lost the last time he ran except that the repubs had his back.

#12 | Posted by MURPHY

What? He won the general election by 600,000 votes and a 10% margin.

Where he had the close race was in the GOP primary where they most DEFINITELY did NOT have his back.

Poor Ish probably had to go home to change trench coats after staining the one he was wearing when this broke.

#21 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue

Yeah and the repubs in the Senate and Bush were backing him up.

They didn't go after like say Lieberman from the Dems.

#20 | Posted by Manypaths

Yeah I'm not smart at all Many--but you certainly are a cupcake.

;o)

They didn't go after like say Lieberman from the Dems.

#23 | Posted by MURPHY

You really are confused, aren't you.

The Dems supported Lieberman in the primary. After he lost, they rightfully supported the legitimate nominee.

I don't care much for stupid women Murphy. They belong in the kitchen reading cook books.

"According to a White House aide, the president found out about the switch at 10:25 AM while in the Oval Office receiving his Economic Daily Briefing.

The president was handed a note, the aide said, that read: "Specter is announcing he is changing parties."

Seven minutes later, President Obama reached Specter to tell him, according to the aide, "You have my full support" and that we are "thrilled to have you."

I dunno...the last place I would want a "stupid woman" would be cooking for me.

As Specter is one my the Senators of the state that I live in, I feel absolutely comfortable when I say to you all that this will matter....

Not. One. Damned. Bit.

The man is a politician. He is changing the letter behind his name for personal gain. That's all this is.

Funny thing is, I'd still "trust" (I use that word loosely) Specter over Santorum any day of the week.

As for the fili-proof 60, I'd not count those chickens yet. Somebody's gonna drop the other shoe, I feel certain of that.

Keep in mind, that the Republicans are complaining about this for one reason and one reason only: that the situation is not reversed and those with R behind the name have the fili-proof majority. that's it gang. For the time being, one type of "we own your asses" seems to have the control. But that'll change.

Sadly it'll only change the names of the ones in control.

This has been going on for quite some time.

Indeed, it's time to sound Taps Murph..

He will be.

So you Finally admit to Supporting the Shameful Practice of Gaming a System That Hundreds of Thousands of Americans Sacrificed their Lives for (i.e. democracy and the Right to Free and Fare Elections)!

How Patriotic of you! Shame on you and Every MS Radio manipulated tool that participated in this! A Pox on your Houses!

Operation Chaos is a Rush Limbaugh creation. Rush must not support the constitution.

Why should he? It's just a godamned piece of paper.

Switching from an R to a D is like switching which side of the boat you sit on...

still the same boat.

still the same boat.

America?

Bloated, bought and paid for, big government boat. And it's full steam ahead.

I think the boat is the "Voyage of the self-centered apathetic short sighted career politician."

Only three threads for this on the back page???
I think we can do better.

Holy smokes! I can still remember, with great bitterness, what it was like when all the Democratic turncoats like Phil Gramm and Ben "Nighthorse" Campbell left the party during the Reagan years.

I've had a change of heart. Hooray for turncoats!

What's "the Reagan years"?

Murphy

There's the banner headline that tells us RCADE's nap is over.

Will the last Republican to abandon the Party be sure to turn off the lights?

All joking aside though, this is reflective of what I have been saying for some time now. America is ready to move into a new phase of partisan politics. The GOP is discredited, incompetent and pretty much irrelevant. Having them be the main opposition Party is not healthy for American democracy. It is time for a true fiscal conservative movement, devoid of all the social issue bullshit, to come to the fore. The GOP is no longer able to fill that role.

It is time for a true fiscal conservative movement, devoid of all the social issue bullshit, to come to the fore. The GOP is no longer able to fill that role.

Reagan made a deal with the devil (AKA Jerry Fallwell, Robertson, etc.) and it's now time to pay up. This leaves a huge opening for a Goldwater type conservative to take over the party. I don't know where the social conservatives are going to turn, but it is obvious they are losing power fast.

"Not the left, the center is taking over."

Democrats are now the center? If the level of spending that's taken place over the last 100 days is now considered "centrist," I'm further to the right than I thought.

Why would the Democrats want a murderer in their midst? That's just irresponsible! I always did think that man was crazy, even back when he was a young producer. Wall of sound? More like wall of noise, if you ask me.

And that hair!

These kids today.

(long pause)

What? Different fella?

Never mind.

I'm shocked!! I thought he was a true, blue lib. I always thought he was a dem.

The GOP is on its way to nonexistence. Then the Dems will find ways to divide themselves, hopefully into several different parties.

I'm further to the right than I thought.

Larry Craig.

Wonder if this will stop the righties going after Snowe and Mctoast and other moderates' seats, or will it encourage more party switching and joementum Independents? (thinking McCain)
Either way, bad news for the Party of NO.

Teabag on kiddies. It's all you got left.

Oh, I get it. A gay joke.

WAIT....WAIT....

Let's not 'Rush' to judgment as we haven't heard what Limbaugh has to say. I hope Limpblob is clutching his chest and gasping for air.

Expect Hanutty and O'Really to have have an 'expose' on the why it's good that he left the party.

A recent Washington Post/ABC poll found that only 21% of the country self-identifies as Republican.

About time he came out of the closet.

Oh, I get it. A gay joke.

That's why you'll make a FINE late night TV 1-800 "lawyer" one day!

Oh, I get it. A gay joke.

that's all that itsy has. Check out his user page if you doubt that.

It's called "projection", itsy. One or two gay jokes, maybe not. But when that's all you have, there is little doubt that you are projecting.

In psychology, psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism where a person's personal attributes, unacceptable or unwanted thoughts, and/or emotions are ascribed onto another person or people. According to Wade, Tavris (2000) projection occurs when a person's own unacceptable or threatening feelings are repressed and then attributed to someone else.[1]

Now I'll sit back and watch you project some more, itsy. LOL

Teabag on kiddies.

Serious question here:

What is it with the left's obsession with the word "teabag"?

I always thought Specter was a Democrat anyway. Specter had ZERO support from the Penn. State Republican Party nor the RNC. He is a career politician who would have never made it out of the Republican primaries. He cut a deal with the Dems to get DNC support so he can have a better shot of keeping his job. That's it.

I expect John McCain to follow suit.

Teabagging is restricted to gays only? "Teabagging" requires one nutsack, and one mouth. Don't women have mouths, too?

Which makes you a little closer to the closet.

Larry Craig.

You realy mean barney frank. He's queer, he's left, and he's been wrong on the housing deal for years.

In other news, Arlen Specter no longer wishes to be called an old white guy. He prefers to be called an old Caucasian guy.

Teabagging is restricted to gays only?

I don't think so. Who was silly enough to say that?

Why should he? It's just a godamned piece of paper.

#35 | Posted by briwo

Haven't you worn out that Democrat saying by now?

It's just as true as SNL saying you can see Russia from Alaska.

SNL didn't say it.

Sarah! did.

obsession is a strong word to describe why we think it is funny that the wacko right wing damns homosexuals even as their spokesmen (craig, haggard, foley, carswell)keep falling out of the closet. they top it off by organizing a protest using teabags as a symbol for something (not really sure what the fuck they're trying to say). at the very least it is ironic; most of us think it is fucking hilarious.

#58
It's to remind everyone of those silly parties Republicans had a couple weeks ago. Kind of like how the Republicans were obsessed with "flip-flops" in 2004. The word's being redefined. It is changing to mean "one who throws an aimless fit of protest in the face of: a.)the demise of said one; OR b.)the demise of said one's organization."

o.k, o.k. people settle down, settle down.

While I am a lifelong Democrat, I realize that
this move was purely a political survival move.
He was way behind in the polling vs. a Republican Challenger, and this was his only possible way out
other than retirement. I agree with what he said,
whether heartfelt or not, none-the-less, that the Republican Party has been taken over by people who are soooooo far to the right, that it is frankly embarassing to watch...(and I love watching that kind of stuff!!)

Yes this will give Dems temporarily a filabuster
proof majority. Yes the Dems may use it a time
or two. No, they will not--like their Republican
counterparts under Tom (the Hammer) Delay, shove
plan after plan down the Republican's throats.

It's not the Dems style. Dems tend to politically
infight much more over issues than the Party of Unity Politics, the Republicans.

It will be interesting to see how they will use it.

As for all of the Idiots on this site (and others) saying this is the end of the Republican Party and other such nonsense, I would ask that you try reading this little thing called AMERICAN HISTORY...

The Republican Party is currently ebbing low, but they are far from gone...and if the Dems act stupidly (which BOTH Parties are seemingly quite capable of doing) then Republican Party shall yet again rear its (lately) ugly head...

This is an opportunity....nothing more...nothing less...to act RESPONSIBLY for once, on behalf of the majority of the nation's people...

I certainly hope my Party doesn't waste it.

While I have admired Specter at times for working against the tide, I will say the same as I said when a senator from my own state switched to a Rep from a Dem. These people should not make a switch while they are in office. While they may vote their conscience in chamber, I think they have some obligation to the party that contributed strongly to their election to remain somewhat loyal while they serve the term.

It's to remind everyone of those silly parties Republicans had a couple weeks ago.

Oh. I thought those silly parties were protesting taxes. I did not realize they were actually engaging in a sexual act that involved putting scrotums into mouths. I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention to the news that week

Thanks for the update.

But still, what did that post (#51) have to do with 'those silly parties'?

Might be one of the smartest things he has ever done. Jump of that shitty sinking ship called the republican ark......

I was under the impression that NorthGuy was telling the remaining Republicans to continue with their silly parties since that's all they can do now that Specter's switched teams at the drop of a hat like that Norm Coleman did a few years back.

this is an ultimate betrayal-how many voted for him cause they were very republican and anti-democratic
party-he could have announced he feelings before the election and allowed the pa voters if they wanted a democrate in his seat

Snowe calls Specter move 'devastating'

WASHINGTON (CNN) Sen. Olympia Snowe one of the three moderate Republicans including Arlen Specter who supported President Obama's stimulus package told CNN Tuesday that she has also been approached many times about becoming a Democrat, but that it hasn't happened for a while.

"I've been asked, but not recently," she said.

Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the "painful" party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.

"For me personally and then for the party, its devastating," Snowe said of Specter's move. "I've always been concerned about the Republican party nationally, about their exclusionary policies towards moderate Republicans. That's not a secretly held view on my part."

I could place my balls anywhere on your face and it would be considered teabagging.

You're welcome.

Well, in fairness, she didn't say "from my house". Although, in fact, she had never been to the island in question so had never actually seen Russia from Alaska.

Sniper, she's said it twice. She just emphatically reiterated it in her last public speech.

SNL made fun of her by extending her statement to "from my house."

I suppose I'm misinformed, but I'm going to have to look up the definition of "teabagging" now. Given what one does with a teabag, I think the definition with which I'm familiar, while a bit more "perverse" (depending on what you personally consider to be perverse), makes more sense.

Geez folks! Can't we give Palin and Teabagging a fricking rest for a while?

Good Riddance! A liberal republican is a liberal first. He shouldn't have been in the party to begin with.

Have you guys heard that new hit song from Arlen Whinehouse?

They tried to get me to vote with the minority and I said, no, no, no.

The right refers to that incident in the more accurate context: "Clinton lied to the grand jury while under oath".

You are certainly correct, but why was he in front of a grand jury in the first place? Perhaps because some republicans were on a witch-hunt? Perhaps because they knew he was getting some dome on the side and wanted to create a scandal?

Clinton got a beej, and the republicans had a field day. Clinton was in a no-win scenario.

goat..

do dr righty's count.. cause thats what i'm talking about.

Clinton got a beej, and the republicans had a field day

that wouldn't have been so bad by itself but when you see how the republicans run their personal lives you see how hypocritical it was.

...but why was he in front of a grand jury in the first place? Perhaps because some republicans were on a witch-hunt?

Of course. Clinton is smart man. He should've known that answering charges of perjury is harder than living down an Oval Office BJ. Why he blew it (no pun intended) by lying is beyond me. He played right into the right's hand.

***"No, they will not--like their Republican

Your right about that, everyone was given plenty of time to read over the 1000 pages of legislation pcontained within the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Now that the Dems have 60 votes, I'm sure that will never happen again though.

Having said that, I agree that those who are writing the GOP obituaries should read some history. Hell, you don't even have to go that far into the past. In the `90s when the Dems became the fat, bloated, corrupt party of power, the people voted them out. It got to the point where people were saying the Dems were done in 2000, `02, and even `04. But now it was the Repubs turn to be the fat, bloated, corrupt party of power, and the people voted them out (Actually, I think both have always been bloated and corrupt). The Dems are only a few years worth of wasteful spending and corruption away from losing it all again. The pendulum will always swing.

Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama ring a bell?

He switched parties in 1994 from Democrat to Republican.

(playing taps for the GOP ... buh bye ... good riddance)

Goat,
I have said the same thing for years. I am no lawyer and even I know Clinton should have said "I plead the 5th" or "those questions are outside the realm of this investigation and I refuse to answer." You do not lie no matter what though!

The Dems supported Lieberman in the primary. After he lost, they rightfully supported the legitimate nominee.

#25 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue

San--they just didn't support Lamont. They lambasted Lieberman.

They all circled the wagons and ripped him up and down. The media and the Dems in congress.

Lieberman took it on the chin.

---

That being said--Specter can do whatever he likes. He is the picture of why we should have term limits.

He claims that he can't win the PA GOP primary and that is his reason for running as a Dem.

He is being honest--although his integrity may be lost.

He thinks it's important to have a two party system--but switches parties! lol

I didn't say that. Strawman attempt?

I didn't say you did. I was setting the conditons for a retraction. Strawman redux?

Welcome back! Another couple of weeks and we were going to send out a search party for you. lol

Clinton was a serial liar when it came to women.

If he had been honest--even after telling the camera he did not have sex.... He would have been ok.

He could have just said it is a personal matter and none of anyone's business.

He was taking hell from Hillary anyway.

But they--the media and the WH were attacking the women who claimed Billy was a a bad boy.

And he thought he would never get caught.

He didn't know about the blue dress with his semen on it.

It's a disgrace that he is a predator. And worse he is a liar.

He would not have been impeached if he was an honest predator.

So your incessant accusations that I'm into fat guys is really just you projecting your fantasies on me?,

No. That was drawing a logical conclusion from your incessant fantasies you portrayed of me.

You made up a statement and attributed it to me by putting my name to it. That is projection. I never did that to you.

Hope that helps.

Wasn't Phil Gramm a D to R also?

#128 | Posted by SanAntonioRogue

Yes he was a Dem. who switched to Repub., but he resigned his seat when he switched parties and ran in a special election as a Republican to fill the seat he just resigned from. Will Specter have the balls to do that I somehow doubt it?

"I am no lawyer and even I know Clinton should have said "I plead the 5th" or "those questions are outside the realm of this investigation and I refuse to answer."

Posted by kanrei at 2009-04-28 02:47 PM"

The "5th" does not apply to civil claims. The civil claim involved was sexual harassment (or something like that), so the questions were not outside the realm of (irrelevant to) the claim. His mistake was not claiming some sort of executive privilege against a civil claim while sitting as President. That would have been a pretty powerful move.

"I never did that to you."

Who needs him, he's an ass. In 1992, Specter nearly lost his re-election bid after angering many constituents through his tough questioning of Anita Hill.

#110 | Posted by mrbgoode

You seem to contradict yourself. He's an ass because he toed the line with the GOP and staunchly defended Clarence Thomas?

Also, is it really necessary to plagiarize other sources? Can't you think for yourself?

www.usnews.com

Let me guess, Dems will say that now Specter is a good guy, he saw the light and is now become a more enlightened man. That will be what the Dems say in public but behind his back his is a scumbag who has no loyalties.

Personally I think that senility, alzheimer's and dementia are setting in. Next year he will be hiding his own Easter eggs.

Easy on Bill, Murphy.

At least he liked Fat Chicks. You should feel good about that.

Next year he will be hiding his own Easter eggs.

Maybe so, but he'll be doing so as a member of the 60 seats!!!!!

Lieberman took it on the chin."

In hind sight, we were not nearly tough enough on Joe. It was about the war, remember???
I believe most Americans now agree, invading Iraq was a big, stupid, evil, mistake and Joe was wrong and should have been defeated. Just because he plays nice now doesn't make him a good guy in my book, he supports Israel before America.

Dems are faced with catastrophe! Slow economy, major companies going bankrupt, economic collapse, Pandemic.

People want prosperity like you promised. The Dems will not bring it.

Even if you try and put it on Republicans or even Bush, it won't stick. The country is owned by the Democrat Party now.

This is the last stand for Dems.

So ManyPaths, are you just being hopeful when you say "Deal With It?" It's like a religion to you!

Probably tired of having to justify to his GOP constituents why he was one of the only RINO's to vote for this abortion of a Wall Street bailout, and $3 trillion in deficit spending.

Easier to swallow among Dems, who are getting in a lot of practice in that respect these days.

Good riddance.

I have no respect for any politician who only changes his/her party when their switch just happens to be to the political party now in power. You have to wonder what the "behind the doors" payoff was to Spector. I'd have had more admiration for Spector had he switched parties before -- when he would have looked like a man who made his decision based solely on his own moral convictions. Now Spector looks like he's only going with whichever political party can bring him the most personal benefit for himself.

You've got that right, Danni. Lieberman belongs in office in Israel's Knesset, not in the U.S. Senate. He'd sell out the U.S. any day of the week if he thought it would advance any benefit to Israel. He was one of the biggest promotors of dragging the U.S. into another Middle Eastern war and pushing for us to nuke Iran.

Israel has its own Lieberman. And he's fucking insane.

"I laugh when you try to be righteous."

Chris, because of it I think he deserves to have a good portion of the blame for our economy laid at his feet as well.

How bout you all stop eating ca-ca and order a pizza or something?

And yes, Specter is trying to save his ass. while its a good thing as far as screwing the NOPpers, he's friggin' 79, well past his best before date.

LOL

Specter knew he was toast in the republican primary so he switched to run as a democrat. The funny thing is he is not the best candidate the dems could put up and he will be toast in the general election.

I see this as a gift. He couldn't win the general election as a republican even if he won the primary so he will be toast fer sure in the general as a democrat.

Seriously? I would never commit perjury. Adultery is not illegal. Perjury is. Big time

At one time, a while ago, before George Bush, 70 million was considered a large sum of money.

Coming from central Kansas, I have to imagine the people of Russell (boyhood home of both Bob Dole and Specter) are busy spraypainting out any reference to Specter on signs around town.

It's nice that we have principled citizens such as Goatman.

I can't understand why all you guys (from both sides of the political aisle) think Monica Lewinsky is so unattractive. You all act like she's a double-bagger or something and you all are the most desirable of studs! Must be a "guy thing" I guess. lol

I doubt a single one of you would kick Monica Lewinsky out of your bed. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if a number of you wouldn't be willing to shell out a few bucks to her to do the same thing she did to Clinton for free.

Just asking.

"I doubt a single one of you would kick Monica Lewinsky out of your bed."

I've had a change of heart. Hooray for turncoats!

The Reagan Democrats were the reality of the 80s.

That reality is old and busted.

The Obamacans (or Republicans who support Obama) is the new hawtness.

The idea of "crossing the floor", as it's known in parliamentary terms in Canada and England, is not new but it is always controversial.

Obama is right to welcome Spector into the fold.

The magic number 60 means that the party of No, the obstructionist right, are now officially disenfranchised.

Spud agrees with a sentiment expressed earlier on in the thread that the Dems more accurately express the will of the moderates as well as the left.

The large number of rethugs biatching and moaning that the reason they lost the last election was because "McCain was too much of a moderate" indicates that they still have no clue as to how far to the facist right the GOP have taken their party.

Their deliberate diviseness and dismissal of anything to do with representing the real needs of the people they represent over the transnationals they are overly beholden to if unchanged will signal a demise of the party's fortune for some time to come.

That sed, too many Dems still talk the talk but refuse to walk the walk when it comes to being effective servants for the constituents they represent.

Obama at present is more popular than his policies and while Spud supports his change of tack genreally and finds his intelligence and candor refreshing realises that that aint enough to get the job done that needs doing.

But Spud is digress.

Spud welcomes Arlen Spector back to the land of the reasonably sane.

Be Well.

I can't understand why all you guys (from both sides of the political aisle) think Monica Lewinsky is so unattractive.

She is fat. Only fat people like other fat people.

Fat people stink, take up too much space and the thought of fucking a fat person is repulsive to a lot of us.

There is a reason Miss America isn't fat. It's because fat people are unattractive slobs.

No offense...........

I doubt a single one of you would kick Monica Lewinsky out of your bed.

You're right. I would have punched the fat bitch in the face at the front door.

(Thanks for the disturbing link Joe.)

Good thing torture is okey dokey, along with warrantless wiretapping, lying us into a war (and torturing to find evidence for that war), indefinite detention and torture of even US citizens, etc.

I thought you were against all these things, boyd? Your whims are like the wind. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

Can I change my vote?

Nope. A card laid is a card played.

Nope. A card laid is a card played.

That's not fair. I've been disenfranchised.

In a March 17th interview with The Hill, Specter said he absolutely would not switch parties:

[Democrats] are trying very hard for the 60th vote. Got to give them credit for trying. But the answer is no.

I'm not going to discuss private talks I had with other people who may or may not be considered influential. But since those three people are in the public domain, I think it is appropriative to respond to those questions.

I am staying a Republican because I think I have an important role, a more important role, to play there. The United States very desperately needs a two-party system. That's the basis of politics in America. I'm afraid we are becoming a one-party system, with Republicans becoming just a regional party with so little representation of the northeast or in the middle atlantic. I think as a governmental matter, it is very important to have a check and balance. That's a very important principle in the operation of our government. In the constitution on Separation of powers.

Nice eye catching mrbgoode in the middle of a copy 'n paste conundrum. I didn't see it the first time around, but the disconnect between his "original thought" and his copypasta is too stark to not arouse suspicion.

---

Back on topic?

Specter = fairweather politician; that's about the long and short of it. Sure, we all see him talking about being ideologically closer to Democrats now. Whether or not that is true, it's pretty uncontroversial to point out that it's more expedient for Specter as a politician to jump on the political bandwagon of the now.

So let's put this all together.

A very popular Democrat in the WH? Check!

Complete control in the House? Check!

A fillibuster proof majority in the Senate? Check!

2-3 Supremem Court appointments coming? Check!

And the Liberal movement moves along, full-speed ahead in America!

I can't tell you how good all this feels!!!!!!

Spell? Not checked.......!

I certainly hope great things happen.

But if they don't, Manypaths will be sure to blame it on someone else if the dems fuck it up despite the fact that they have no excuses anymore.

liberals don't do very well when they have no excuses or someone to blame.

Not the left, the center is taking over. As Spector says, the Republican Party has shifted so far to the right that moderates are more in line with Dems.

#11 | Posted by danni

Are you kidding me? Now Obama is a centrist? Danni, that is the biggest joke of the day for sure. He is governing from the left to far left. He is nowhere near the center and neither is your entire party. If you haven't noticed it was overrun by the far left just recently. If the far right is now making more noise then it would just seem to be a normal reaction to the far left doing what is is doing.

However, this is just the excuse that Specter used. He had to have something ready to say in response to his total lack of loyalty and respect.

And here we see Goatman siding with those left of center, proving his nonpartisan credentials, and by extension, those calling him a douche, douches.

I don't who could be surprised at Specter.. he's been a rino for years.. the 60 senator block in the senate is a problem.. it means obama's rush to socialism will make great strides..

I sort of take the Joshua approach.. "choose this day who you will serve".. or maybe Gideon's.. send home all the cowardly before the battle..
For you libs.. those are examples from the old Testament.. you know in the Bible? ...nevermind

Hey, you brought it up.

Can't say that this is a suprise...

With the way things are going, the Republican party will become completely extinct soon anyway.

If Obama grants amnisty to the thirty five million illegal imigrants currently residing in the US, The republican party will no longer exist as we know it.

The democratic party will split into splinter groups like the liberal party, the Gay party, the Moderate party, Etc...

We will have free everything and most people will be poor except the King and his court... They will be very wealthy my friends... More people need to realy take a long look at what is happening here in this country... Eva Parone anyone?

More tolerance from the left for thoughts or deeds which disagree with their agenda. A word comes to mind - tool. Or better yet, hypocrite or liar is better suited.

NOPATH - your a NAZI. You only want one belief system - the belief that all you say and do is the only "path" to - wherever the hell you are going.

The republican cowards wouldn't care about a potential 60 vote democratic super-majority if they would have respected the one vote "up or down" that would give a simply majority vote. Cowards are now going to lose their filibuster.

He should have just told everyone to butt out.

It was the Paula Jones suit--right? When he lied under oath?

That should have been settled out of court.

And how come the attorneys couldn't delay and or continue that deposition until he was out of office?

That was until he saw the GOP Primary poll numbers that had him waaaaaaaay behind Toomey.

He could have lost and run as an Independent --like Lieberman.

But not Specter--

He was set to lose the primary--so any good politician worth their salt is going to switch parties.

I don't understand your first question, Murph. As to the last, the court denied their motions to do so (don't you remember the stories about the court saying it shouldn't take much of his time, etc.? what a fucked up wrong assumption that turned out to be), and Clinton didn't just say 'fuck off, i'm claiming exec priv and i'll deal with this later.'

Thanks, Chris.

Been doing some business traveling and also easing away from politics.

SanAn

Yes, Gramm changed parties to R.

I went to get a haircut on the other side of town and tuned into Hannity on the radio. He's having a stroke.

Please let us know if he stops breathing AU!

MANYPATHS

I wouldn't normally listen to Hannity, but with today's news I just had to see what he was saying. Of course it was the usual "Democrats are weak on defense", blah blah blah. He's very whiny every time I've heard him.

It wouldn't surprise me if Olympia Snowe and a couple other moderate Republicans switch parties as well. The GOP has had zero room for moderates.

Here's Arlen dissing party changers in 2001.

Reporting from Washington -- When a Senate Republican left his party in 2001, elevating the Democrats to majority status, one member of the GOP was especially vocal about his displeasure: Arlen Specter.

Specter said then- Vermont Sen. Jim Jeffords' decision to become an independent was disruptive to the functioning of Congress. He proposed a rule forbidding party switches that had the effect of vaulting the minority to majority status in the middle of a congressional session.

"If somebody wants to change parties, they can do that," Specter said at the time. "But that kind of instability is not good for governance of the country and the Senate."

Arlen has flipped flopped recently. He was for card check, then he was against it Pa state repb voters voiced their objections.

Arlen has voted dem so many times, this is really not a surprise. I hope he retains some degree of moderatisim....

DAVE

As to your 2001 Spector comment:

Between 2001 and 2009 the GOP proved itself WAY to the right - too far for most Americans, and evidently too far for Spector. They also proved their true colors by running up massive debt and increasing the size of government to record levels. They didn't play nice - even with their own.

Moderates are not welcome in today's GOP. Shame.

Hey, AU -- Welcome back! Where have you been?

GOAT

I've been doing quite a bit of traveling, and tired of trying to talk politics with the nasty trolls who aren't interested in reasonable discussion.

Life's good. Hope all's well with you.

Look! Goat has a friend! How sweet. Now maybe he'll get TWO "not douche" votes.

Now maybe he'll get TWO "not douche" votes.

Maybe I'll go back and change my vote to a triple douche and cancel them out.

In fact, that's a good idea:

I give goatman a triple douche!

... and found something pretty great

Good for you! Best wishes and best of health to all.

What? No "LOL"? Fuck, Goat, did even you realize how lame that retort was? There may be hope for you yet, kid.

MONTE

I've met GOATMAN and he's a really nice person, no matter what his online posting may indicate in the eyes of others. Notice his retorts are usually in response to trolling? Gets really old trying to have a reasonable discussion when people just pop up than to be annoying.

I think we all get tired of trolls no matter what our political bent. One thing GOATMAN never does is troll. That's a compliment around here. LOL

Hope all's well with you and yours.

Not sure what your def'n of trolling is. If I post something to someone else, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with Goatman, and he pops up to post something about me being gay or being attracted to fat guys, is that trolling?

Get your Drudge cliches right, Monte. Goatman's deranged persona is due to his being off his meds.

Well for a shut in old fart like you, it might seem weird. But I am a happy person who laughs a lot, regardless how hard you try to convince me I'm miserable.

BTW, why do you spend so much time here. Can't you find anything better to do with your life than argue with assholes like me.

Stupid question. You are here doing it, aren't you? How sad and insignificant your world must be if throwing barbs at me is the best you can do with it right now. LOL

I needed to move to be closer to my mom (health reasons) and my employer was not cooperating with me so I felt forced to look elsewhere and found something pretty great. didn't want to leave but it worked out for the best.

I know it'll mean a lot to your Mom just knowing you're closer by. I mean this sincerely, if you ever have any questions about caretaking suggestions (hand-held showerheads, you name it) which you might add around the house to make things easier for your Mom (and you too) don't ever hesitate to ask me about it. I'll provide you links to whatever you might need. You'd be surprised at all that's available on the market to help with all aspects of caretaking and her daily life routines.

Take care.

MP, Monte, CC,

Thanks for the kind words. My mom is doing better now. I was just too far away to take care of her from where I lived I was fearful that if something were to happen, I would be in a very difficult position. As it turns out, my father in law has taken ill and it has been a blessing we have been home now for him as well.

Again, thanks to all. (even you furryhole)

Eberly

Those weren't just kind words on my part -- I meant it. As your Mom gets older, and now you say your father in law has taken ill, they will need more things to help them around the house as time goes by.

One of the best buys I made, and strongly suggest you do for your Mom and father in law, is to buy two (different colors for each so they don't get mixed up) medication boxes (pills for 7 days a week, divided into four sections for each day).

My Mom was sent home from the hospital one time with 12 different prescriptions to take and if I hadn't gotten one of those pill boxes I would have gone nuts trying to get it right everyday. DON'T LISTEN to them when they will tell you everything is fine and they can manage their own pills. Just go buy it for them.

What I'd do is just fill up the pill box once a week and then didn't have to think about what day (or time of day) a pill was needed until the next time I filled it up. One of the biggest problems is often they will forget if they took a pill or not. This enables them to not even have to remember.

Here's a sample for you --

7- day (4 sections) medical pill box

Bookmark this one too. Another important item is to put a hold bar and/or hand-held grab bar in the bathroom shower and tub. Falls are some of the first -- and most debilitating -- of accidents for those needing some physical assistance. Broken hips can happen easily.

You can check out a number of different sections in that link and it'll give you lots of good ideas of things you may not have even thought of. Good luck.

Limbaugh to Specter: Please take McCain with you
Posted: 08:30 PM ET

From CNN's Rebecca Sinderbrand

Limbaugh did concede the downside of Specter's defection.
(CNN) Conservative host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday he isn't sorry to see Arlen Specter leave the GOP and that many Republicans wish the Pennsylvania senator would take a few others with him when he goes.

"A lot of people say, 'Well, Specter, take [Sen. John] McCain with you. And his daughter [Meghan]. Take McCain and his daughter with you if you're gonna" he told listeners, dissolving in laughter.

"..It's ultimately good. You're weeding out people who aren't really Republicans," he said.

Limbaugh did concede the downside of Specter's defection. "It makes the Senate essentially as big a slam dunk for Obama and the Democrats as the House of Representatives already is," he said.

Earlier this month, Specter said Limbaugh did have a tendency to make "provocative" statements, but told radio host Howard Stern he didn't have a problem with the conservative talker. "Do I like Limbaugh? yeah, I like him," he said then.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon, Meghan McCain fired back on Twitter. "RED TIL I'M DEAD BABY!!! I love the republican party enough to give it constructive criticism, I love my party and sure as hell not leavin!"

Filed under: Arlen Specter John McCain Meghan McCain Rush Limbaugh

It's hard to believe these idiots down fall down more.

Once again, having been clueless about what Rush said today, a leftie tells me.

"But we really do hate him! We just can't stop hanging on to his every word is all."

The left

Just think--Chris Matthews was going to run for PA senator on the Dem ticket...

Who are the Dems that are running for PA Senator that Arlen needs to beat in the primary?

I'm thinking that the Dem'a have Specter where they want him. It is obvious he wants the office more that any shred of personal dignity he might have left. I'm sure the level and quality of support Specter will get from the DNC will be based on how good a little Dem he proves to be. He might as well think about the wording on his pending flip flop on "card check" while he is doing the political limbo.

It is fun to watch the GOP die a slow death and take the morons like Murphy down with them.

What is fun is watching clowns like you speak in absolutes.

In a year or two it will be your turn to 'die a slow death.'

It will be fun watching the slow death of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY as they continue to do nothing and subsidize the corporations just like the REPUBLICANS.

In less than 2 years the democrats will go from a all time high to losing everything they could have accomplished.

It will be fun watching the slow death of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY as they continue to do nothing and subsidize the corporations just like the REPUBLICANS.

Exactly. There's something that all these cocky, self congratulatory and gloating democrats keep forgetting: 1) the political pendulum will continue to swing left and right and left and right as it has for centuries 2) They didn't win the last election -- the Republicans lost. The democrats could definitely have run the proverbial yellow dog and won in 2008.

But their smugness will turn into complacency as the pendulum nears its leftward swing and complacency will turn into losses at the polls. There is no historical evidence whatsoever to suggest otherwise

Goat you are 100% right. However with the 60 votes we can finally implement universal healthcare and other entitlement programs. And once an entitlement program has started like healthcare good luck getting rid of it. By the time you get back in office we can have a full out socialist govt in place.

And once an entitlement program has started like healthcare good luck getting rid of it

You are right, of course. That is the primary objective of the Democratic party -- get lazy people like you hooked on the government's tit so that they are more easily controllable.

However, don't look for universal health care in the next four years. It is still too unpopular and Obama is like the rest -- looking at the next election and not what is best for the country. The health care lobby is far too powerful and Obama is too much of a coward to take them on.

If congress was going to pass such legislation, it would be well in the works. I haven't heard a peep about them working on such legislation. Have you?

Soon the Republicans will have gleefully purged their party of the Rhinos, at last. A recent poll has 21% self-identifying as Republican and 35% self-identifying as Democrat.

" That is the primary objective of the Democratic party -- get lazy people like you hooked on the government's tit so that they are more easily controllable."

-Non partisan goatman.

Sadly no. I think we should have it even if you are too greedy to help fund it. I wish Obama would ramrod through in the middle of the night just like the patriot act. Goat you make so much money a little tax raise won't even phase you. You don't even know me. Calling me lazy is the furthest thing from the truth possible. Being in a union does not mean I am lazy at all.

Calling me lazy is the furthest thing from the truth possible.

???

You called yourself that. Almost daily you opine how you wish you didn't have to work so much. As recently as yesterday you said you couldn't wait for the day until someone paid your bills for you and all you had to do is sit around and smoke bowls.

Pardon me if I mis-interpreted that as 'lazy'.

Non partisan goatman.

Once again alex the ignorant thinks that being non-partisian means that I can't be critical of a political party.

*sigh*

Get a life, null -- I mean alex.

Of course I want somebody to pay my bills. That does not mean I don't work hard at my job.

That does not mean I don't work hard at my job.

Do you have the same job you had a couple of months ago? Because then you were bragging that you didn't have to work hard at it and how you could go to the gym while on the clock, etc. all thanks to the union.

New job, or have things changed in the last couple of months?

You've found the perfect foil, Goatman. An asswipe "conservative" from the wreckage of PWZ who now pretends to be a liberal, or rather his transparent caricature of one.

Same Job. Some days are tougher than others. Today I replaced a toggle switch on one instrument and there was a monitor that I had to replace a rheostat. Thats a good days work I put in.

Specter: "Now I Can Say It: What a Bunch of F*cking A**holes!"

Arlen Specter, the newly minted Democratic Senator from Pennsylvania, let his hair down in a freewheeling press conference at the U.S. Senate today, making this comment about his former Republican colleagues: "Now I can say it: what a bunch of fucking assholes!"

Mr. Specter had a bounce in his step and lilt in his voice as he tore into members of his former party in a press appearance that appeared to set records with its body count.

"This is something I've wanted to say for years: is there a bigger dick on this planet than Mitch McConnell?" he said. "I know he thinks he's doing his job, but please, what a fucking turd."

Observers who are accustomed to the much-ballyhooed collegiality of the Senate were taken aback by the jaw-dropping profanity of Sen. Specter's parting shots, many of which were breathtaking in their anatomical crudeness.

"He must've had a lot of rage bottled up over the years," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). "Suddenly he was talking like a Somali pirate."

While Mr. Specter's tirade had many high points - or low points, depending on one's party affiliation - he reserved some of his harshest words for House Minority whip Eric Cantor: "Eric fucking Cantor? Please. That douche can kiss my goddamn stimulus package."
www.huffingtonpost.com

What, he's a republican now?

Thanks for that post DOC, it's a beautiful thing.

From what I have seen of the Republicans in the Senate he speaks the truth.

example of true politics---pols are susposed to serve the people who elect them-in this case reps-but instead they serve themselves ----spectre has negated the votes of his loyal REP voters who i don't think voted for him to give the dems a filibuster proof senate

and my question...what IMportant committe will he just all of sudden be promoted to and what other 'promises' did they make?

AH BUT I am sure that you here dont give a FUCK about any of that....the 60 votes is all you care about regardless of what it does to the economy or security

PARTY OVER COUNTRY at its zenith

EVEN worse than that

PERSONAL POLITICAL AND MONETARY GAIN over everything else

and you 'like him...you really like him'

I am sorry for all the caps as I know that really hurts the puncuation sensibility of many of you here.
Please dont take all of that to mean that I think that the OFFICIAL...(oops, sorry bout that)...defection of this RINO>..( shit...sorry again)...will make one difference in anything.
I again wonder how the dems who were planning on running feel about this and obama giving his total support to this rino...

and we will get past the 60 vote rule somehow except that TODAY the senate will be voting to ruin your health care and maybe evening signing some death warrants.

hmmm...for a Political Party that was all about
the word "Mavericky" and Joe the Plant...I mean Plumber, but a scant year ago, they sure don't tollerate dissent within the ranks very well at all...

Steele claiming that Specter--a Senator who has probably served longer than Mr. Steele has been an
adult, let alone alive--flipped the "bird" at the
Republican Party. And this after a total lack of support being given to him by his own Party, and placing strong opposition within his own side of the aisle against him in the next election...

And ole Flush Limbaugh telling him "good riddance" and "take McCain and his Daughter with you", sounding like the very heart of inclusion (that would be a sarcasm) within this country.

You know, they have a term for a political party that insists everyone votes the same way, and everyone remains stolidly loyal--the term is Fascism.

This seems to be the main sticking point that the Republican Party cannot seem to wrap their closed minds around. We are still a country of individuals, where people still have the right to
change their minds...especially when their Political
Party is acting like such a band of Buffoons.

Look! Goat has a friend! How sweet. Now maybe he'll get TWO "not douche" votes.

"You know, they have a term for a political party that insists everyone votes the same way, and everyone remains stolidly loyal--the term is Fascism. "

Tell that to Joe Lieberman. He's ultra-lib but parting ways w/ the Dems on the war on terror made him a pariah. Takes a fascist to know a fascist.

The 2 party system is a disaster, sides don't matter, it's all about power & Spectre has just decided to not even humor the notion that the voters make a difference in the decision making other than to vote him into office.

It must be liberating actually to just get rid of the BS & give the voters a big old "fuck you" & not have to patronize anyone anymore. He's just one of a few hundred screw ups in Congress with no signs of improvement in sight.

Sigh..........

"Tell that to Joe Lieberman. He's ultra-lib ....

I have said this time and again

you can call the republicans being in lockstep with no all you want but I have read the "how texans voted" column EVERY week in the houston chronicle
and EACH AND EVERY TIME EACH AND EVERY DEMOCRAT VOTES RIGHT WITH WHAT OBAMA AND GEORGE SOROS WANT

so if you call repubs fasicts for that, why not the dems who are doing just what you say
and in fact when I first started reading your post I thought THAT was what you were going to say....about dems ALWAYS VOTING WITH OBAMA THAT IS>

#306 | Posted by mOntecOre

You're right. The taxpayers DO deserve better but they keep electing the same old idiots right & left. You get what you pay for so you think we'd have the best ever considering what it's costing.

Don't be so obsessed with where & how I spend my time. It's beneath you as part of the "live & let live" crowd isn't it? What about my privacy? Aren't you being intrusive? For all you know, I could be posting from the couch collecting welfare. But that would be fine because you'd know how I'm voting right?

I love the way Specter said that he would not have his career ended by his states primary. Heaven forbid the voters decide that. His mentality is welcome in the Democratic Party

This will be the perfect example of how politics is more like sports and supporting the home team than anything else. In Boston we hate the knicks and Marbury but once he became part of our team, well we now like him. Same guy, same issues but now it is different because he is on my team.

You have all of these Democrats who voted against him for decades who will now vote for him simply because he has the label Democrat under his name. He hasn't changed in any meaningful way but hey, it's my team. Then you have Republicans who have voted for him for decades (although this number was dropping) who will now vote against him simply because he doesn't have Republican under his name.

If he was a good or bad senator before the switch, the switch won't change it. He will be the same guy but none of that matters. All that matters is the score.

AND AGAIN...bph and others

the politico interview JUST LAST MONTH had him committing to staying a republican because the nation needed those 41 senators.

that poll coming out with that writing on the wall must have shook those thoughts lose.

No...you misunderstand. Any political side that insists that their followers fall in line, without dissent is operating under a fascist pretext...

that includes the democrats.

its one thing to be sort of pissed if one leaves what you consider to be "your side" (whatever that is), it is quite another to be livid about it and insist that Party members swear or sign some sort of Oath of Allegience like I've heard being batted around by some.

Humans are humans. We are bound to disappoint, to change our minds, to switch sides. Humans are fickle.

But given the situation he was in, with the right fronting an even more to the right candidate in his state to run against him who was ahead in the polls because the states Republican Party wants someone further to the Right, his options were few. Either retire, or switch sides. I'm not saying which decision was the right one to make.

Another thing though to ask yourself is, when something like this happens, what was driving him away from his old party, sometimes its nothing, simply personal choice, other times there is plenty aiding in the decision. I think there were several things pushing him in that direction, not the least of which is the Right's disdain for Moderates within it's own party. People on the Right, seem to want their candidates way on the Right. At least thats my read, not being one and all.

You've really shown your true colors as a whining little bitch, m'boor. For months I quietly looked at your endless stream of fat man jokes with little comment. No big deal. But when I amplified them and turned them back on you, you have turned into a whiney trolling bitch. If you're going to dish it out, you'd better be able to take it, too, crybaby. You are pathetic, but at least you let your true colors shine honestly.

Now go cry some more to your fat boyfriend's sphincter since that seems to the highlight of your pitiful, meaningless life. LOL It's just me, but if I worked in an office full of pretty women as you claim to, I wouldn' be on a blog talking about the sphincter of an oil rig worker who calls himself 'goatman'. To each his own, I guess.

Now go do whatever it is that blows air up your skirt, crybaby. (it'll be interesting to see exactly what that is)

Why do you continue your pathetic little lie? I made an observation or two about your inconsistent posts about your weight, and you can't get off the subject. There is no "endless stream" "for months." If there was, you'd accept the wager I offered. Instead, you just keep repeating this lie that somehow I'm the one obsessed with the subject and not you.

Obviously I struck a nerve. I regret that your weight seems to be such a sensitive subject for you. Get over it, Big Guy, or put your money where your mouth is and we'll settle which of us revisits this stupid little issue more often. (I'm guessing you will balk at the bet.)

Quid pro quo and I already have a question to you. I asked it several times, but condensed, here it is:

I'm not sure. I really don't feel like poring over the archives to get the answer. It may have been me in jesty, but there is no question about who ran with it ad nauseum

Run, pussboy.

It's not called 'running'. It's called eating dinner and going to an obligatory meeting. Unlike you, when I have something better to do than flame war, I do it.

But call it running if it boosts your ego. Now go high-five yourself and tell your image in the mirror you made me run. I'll bet nullset will believe you, too. LOL

Remember when Goatman posted over 60 times in 2 hours?

So obssessed with ne you actually counted?

BTW, I got a thank you note from rcade. His advertising revenues quadrupled that day. LOL

The dude's pathetic

I can't help it. I am indeed pathetic and you can't chanbge the spots on a leopard. You, OTOH, can choose who you talk to on the blog. Who's the stupid one? LOL

Goat has a serious case of OCD

duh, you're bright. Yes, I have OCD. And you troll someone with OCD. Why do you stick to us lowlifes to troll? Are you afraid that anyone smarter than me will kick your ass? LOL

"Goatman - serious question. Who here brought up your weight and/or BMI today first?

I'm not sure."

Answer: you.

And if I asked the question yesterday or the day before, same answer. Sorry, bud, your middle names are ad nauseum.

Answer: you.

OK. I'll accept that answer.

Who obssessed with a tongue in cheek remark and repeated it ad nauseum?

Answer: you

Who, after watching the stupid repetition of a tongue in cheek remark turned it back around on the poster?

Me.

Who, being so thin skinned and can't take what he dishes out started whining about it like a crybaby bitch?

You.

LOL

Time to change the channel, Old Man.

LOL.

Specter Switches Parties

Good riddance, I say.

Get the fuck out, you shitstain.

This speaks more to the very character of Specter as a man than anything else.

And this little shallow, mealy-mouthed cocksucker is a U.S. Senator.

This is the caliber of human being we elect to the most important legislative offices in America.

Welcome to Dumbfuck America 2009.

Don't forget to "Twitter" this evening!

It's OK, you can "DVR" Jon Stewart!

Pure politics, cut and dry.

"I have traveled the state and surveyed the sentiments of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania and public opinion polls, observed other public opinion polls and have found that the prospects for winning a Republican primary are bleak," Specter told reporters on Capitol Hill this afternoon.

Specter, who squeaked past an intraparty challenge from former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., in 2004, was facing the conservative Toomey again. And recent polls showed him being trounced by Toomey in the Republican primary next year."

sorry you cant read plain english..
so what if I took up swahili?

and here is the difinitive post for this thread

the R senator from wyoming related a phone call he had yesterday with spector that says it all

he told the wyoming guy that he had 4 choices

1) run and lose
2)run then as independent but he said penn laws werent as easy to do as conn laws are
3) retire
4) become a democrat

so there it is...an admission that he did it because he is a weasly, power humgry politician.
hopefully the good people of PENN wont pull a minnesota.

i still find it the most inane behavior that people would actually keep up with how many times someone posts. life in the nuthouse must be...well, nutz!
