"Earlier today, I called and congratulated Scott Murphy on a hard-fought contest and wished him well as the next Congressman of the 20th Congressional district," Tedisco said in a prepared statement.

"Ultimately, it became clear that the numbers were not going our way, and that the time had come to step aside and ensure that the next congressman be seated as quickly as possible," Tedisco added.

The concession indicates that Tedisco's campaign will not continue to contest the legality of absentee ballots.

With 70,000 more registered Repbulicans than Democrats in this district, I have to admit I didn't expect Murphy to pull this one off. I'm thrilled though. Thank your President Bush and President Obama.

RNC's Michael Steele, who was the first to suggest the 20th CD contest would be a bellweather of the national GOP's ability to make a comeback.

From Steele's lips to God's ears. :)

Recount.

The sniveling right.

Recount, but only the counties we choose

The sniveling left 2000

Many GOPher pundits were predicting GOP victory in this contest. The wingnut lie machine was gearing up to declare this a significant repudiation of Obama, a portent of things to come, etc... Guess Fox News and Co. will have to wait a little longer.

NO!!!!

The Rushpublicans.

But at least Tedesco recognized defeat when he saw it. Coleman wants to run out Franken's term whining in court. It's gonna be 8 months and counting of him riding the waahmbulance by the time this gets to court.

Like WOW!

Golly!

A Democrat wins in New York!

The really interesting part of the story is the margin of victory: 401 votes.

Since most people don't vote for a candidate, but, rather, vote against someone else, that margin would indicate that even in True Blue New York people aren't in love with the Democrats

With 70,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats in this district, seems even Republicans can't stand their own party, Vernon.

Apparently the revolution has been delayed.

Teabagging, however, will be on every Rushpublican's lips for a while yet.

Spud LOLed!

Murphy finally takes NY congressional seat over Tedisco-duck?

Despite a disparity in registered voters that favors Reps?

Luffs it!

Where, oh where, is regular DR poster Murphy to offer congratulations to her distant kin here?

^_^

Wonder how the fools at Faux News are gona spin this one. Their previously written "The Teabagger Revolution worked!" script has to be thrown out the window, obviously. Spud guesses that they will insinuate voter fraud, maybe mention ACORN a couple of dozen times and then bury the piece as "insignificant".

Call it a hunch.

Be Well.

Uh, Vernon, this district was in Republican hands from the late 70's until 2006. The only reason it went Democratic in 2006 is because the press found out that Republican John Sweeney, who had held the seat for years, was accused by his wife of spousal abuse. She reported one incident to the police and it was that report that got released.

Until recently, NY state had a Republican led senate and house. The former governor was also a Republican. Believing NY is a totally blue state is like thinking all of the state is the eqivalent of NY City, which has also had it's share of Republican mayors. D'Amato was the Republican senator here for many years as well. But, hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your off-the-wall rant.

I thought they preferred their teabags on their chins?
Foolish me.......

"Believing NY is a totally blue state is like thinking all of the state is the eqivalent of NY City"

We know you upstaters hate NYC so much that you just vote opposite of what we do to spite us. If it weren't for our tax dollars, you would have seceded from the state 50 years ago.

j/k

As a friend said this afternoon when we heard the news: Now if only Coleman would take the hint.

Spud guesses that they will insinuate voter fraud, maybe mention ACORN...

Well, that didn't take long.

Lawl!

Be Well.

From Tedisco--

"This was a close campaign every step of the way. Ultimately, it became clear that the numbers were not going our way and that the time had come to step aside and ensure that the next Congressman be seated as quickly as possible. In the interest of the citizens of the 20th Congressional district and our nation, I wish Scott the very best as he works with our new President and Congress to address the tremendous challenges facing our country."

A stand up guy.

Congrats to the new guy--Murphy--(no relation).

A stand up guy.

Agreed. Coleman could takes notes here.

Congrats to the new guy--Murphy--(no relation).

Very gracious of yas!

Be Well.

May have been said before, but nice that this guy has more class than Norm Coleman.

Good for him!

Yes, thanks for the congrats, Murphy. Tedisco gave up his leadership seat in the NY assembly ,because he was confident he would win the congressional seat. That's gotta hurt now.

"But at least Tedesco recognized defeat when he saw it. Coleman wants to run out Franken's term whining in court. It's gonna be 8 months and counting of him riding the waahmbulance by the time this gets to court."

"Section 3. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. "

I wonder if he could sue in court that he didn't serve six years as is written in the Constitution.

I wonder if citizens of MN could sue for being denied their Constitutional representation in the Senate?

The Constitution guarantees 6 years for a Senator. I don't who they'd sue (and for what), but the Senator has a good argument to be granted 6 years of a term.

Where is "overeasy" double c, Old man?

???

Probably California. I think she's made it quite plain that that's where she lives.

No offense, itsy, but I left this high school romance game behind about forty years ago, so you'll just have to jack off to your adolescent fantasy without my input from now on. I know a lot of people would be flattered with your 'attention', but I get a little queasy knowing I'm one side of a fantasy love triangle that includes you -- nothing personal, of course. LOL

I hope you get a real romance one day so you don't have to regress to high school (maybe it's not really a regression? lol) and invent them through internet bloggers and live your love life through them. Somehow, I think fantasizing about me and CC will be the closest you'll ever get to a real relationship though if your obsession with us is any indication. I'm not your father, but if I was, I would advise you to start dating and quit living out your love fantasies through someone who calls himself 'Goatman. LOL

Later loser. Keep those kleenexs stocked up.

I thought they preferred their teabags on their chins?
Foolish me.......

Don't assume their preferences are the same as your's, Franky. You are a democrat after all.

I wonder if he could sue in court that he didn't serve six years as is written in the Constitution.
I think they should fine the next nearest GOPper Senator 6 months. j/k

well its new york so a patriot winning was a long shot anyway in the land of clinton and schumer and a host of other liberals.
so lets move on the next one.

"VERNON"...Get offline for awhile go an try to stop the BLEEDING, you ignorant ASS!!!!!!!!

ALL RIGHT VERNON

you got BLASTED BY this kook

I didnt scroll up to see what he is yelling about because I dont have to .
I just know that if you get him screaming like that you must have said something right on....

A win by 401 votes is a win by the skin of the winner's teeth. Maybe, just maybe, there is a ray of light in that New York can still be saved. Time will tell.
