Ali Soufan: For seven years I have remained silent about the false claims magnifying the effectiveness of the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques like waterboarding. I have spoken only in closed government hearings, as these matters were classified. But the release last week of four Justice Department memos on interrogations allows me to shed light on the story, and on some of the lessons to be learned.

FTA: It was the right decision to release these memos, as we need the truth to come out. This should not be a partisan matter, because it is in our national security interest to regain our position as the world's foremost defenders of human rights. Just as important, releasing these memos enables us to begin the tricky process of finally bringing these terrorists to justice.

BushCo apologists are knowingly lying about both the effectiveness of the torture done at Gitmo and elsewhere just as they are lying about the value of the information recieved.

Meanwhile back in Rtard land McLame is asserting that the release of these memos is gonna cause a "Witch hunt".

www.politico.com

Yes, peoples you heard Spud right the same guys who spend millions of dollars and many months to try and impeach Clinton for putting Lewinsky on a presidential protein diet are now crying "WITCH HUNT" at the top of their lungs.

You can't make this shit up.

Be Well.

The debate after the release of these memos has centered on whether C.I.A. officials should be prosecuted for their role in harsh interrogation techniques. That would be a mistake. Almost all the agency officials I worked with on these issues were good people who felt as I did about the use of enhanced techniques: it is un-American, ineffective and harmful to our national security.

Fortunately for me, after I objected to the enhanced techniques, the message came through from Pat D'Amuro, an F.B.I. assistant director, that "we don't do that," and I was pulled out of the interrogations by the F.B.I. director, Robert Mueller (this was documented in the report released last year by the Justice Department's inspector general).

My C.I.A. colleagues who balked at the techniques, on the other hand, were instructed to continue. (It's worth noting that when reading between the lines of the newly released memos, it seems clear that it was contractors, not C.I.A. officers, who requested the use of these techniques.)

And who authorised the use of corporate mercenaries er "contractors" in the first place?

Who selectively sought legal opinions discarding the ones who sed this was illegal until they found some soul dead assholes to try and legalise the same techniques that America has previously hung people for using against Ameican service people in WWII?

Anybody still buying into the "few bad apples" theory of how this torture came about?

Bush, Cheney Gonzales and Yu need to go down fer this shit if America wants to regain any credibility on the issue of human rights ever again.

Be Well.

As we move forward, it's important to not allow the torture issue to harm the reputation, and thus the effectiveness, of the C.I.A. The agency is essential to our national security. We must ensure that the mistakes behind the use of these techniques are never repeated. We're making a good start: President Obama has limited interrogation techniques to the guidelines set in the Army Field Manual, and Leon Panetta, the C.I.A. director, says he has banned the use of contractors and secret overseas prisons for terrorism suspects (the so-called black sites). Just as important, we need to ensure that no new mistakes are made in the process of moving forward a real danger right now.

Obama's done more good in his first 100 days than Dumbya did in 8 years.

Wow here's sommat Spud missed on his first read through...

There was no actionable intelligence gained from using enhanced interrogation techniques on Abu Zubaydah that wasn't, or couldn't have been, gained from regular tactics. In addition, I saw that using these alternative methods on other terrorists backfired on more than a few occasions all of which are still classified.

Anybody else even a little bit curious as to wot "other" "classified" techniques were used?

Be Well.

As you whining sniveling little girlie boy cowards undermine the security of the U.S., for those of you that do not have a clue, let me enlighten you oppressive regressives.
First off the enhanced techniques used by our interorgators did yield useful information that save thousands of American lives, if not hundreds of thousands.
Secondly - the technique of those same worthless pieces of raghead shit is only one, cut off the genitalia of the prisoner, stuff it in his mouth, then cut off his head, the reason for this is that the ragheads like to fondle male genatalia, and they do not want that person to be able to have a 72 virgin fuck-fest in the great here-after.

So, if our military wanted to really fuck with these pieces of human waste, they could have stripped them of their male hood.

"RIGHTNUT".....Be careful you sounding more an more like the TALIBAN every day. You fucking asshole, you have nothing else to do over this weekend I would like you to write a letter to the family of the Japanese soldier that we HUNG after the Second world war for WATERBOARDING an American soldier.....Explain to that family that waterboarding is not TORTURE, you ignorant FUCK!!!~

Rightnut you are the only coward here living in fear of Muslims

Nice to see that not everyone accepts the right nut's view of the world. herm

Yeah. Well... It works!

101 Douchebag

Not only is torture wrong; we make it ten-thousand
fold worse by torturing innocent people.

If you wanna torture the preparators of 911 - you
have to torture Bush administration officials as
well as the Israelis.

The nerve of some people! Shame! Shame! Shame!

"First off the enhanced techniques used by our interorgators did yield useful information that save thousands of American lives, if not hundreds of thousands."

YEAH!

Just like that ----- except for the Part where bush would get momma babs to dress him up in a costume every time he "thought" he "might" had gotten something right!

If the illusion that he saved a single Americans life even existed we would had heard about it looooong ago!

herr bush is a nazi and he believes in nazi techniques. dont you just love the conservative. what a fraud of an american

Rightnut is a coward, and a traitor to American values. Sniveling wusses like him would advocate the complete destruction of the U.S. Constitution all in the name of short term partisan game. If he were any more of a cockroach, I'd squish him.

Did you not even read the article?

All of the actionable intel the BushCo regime crowed about was garnered using legal, non torturous techniques.

There is no reason to believe that the so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques" ie Torture gained anything that could not have been gotten with traditional accepted methods.

All the use of torture did was hand Al Quaeda and their ilk a propaganda victory that will garner them more sympathy, support, funding, recruits and power.

George Bush was the greatest recruiting tool AQ ever had.

Played right into Bin Ladens hands like the moron he was and is.

Speaking of morons...

Secondly - the technique of those same worthless pieces of raghead shit is only one, cut off the genitalia of the prisoner, stuff it in his mouth, then cut off his head.

Now that sounds like a really ineffective interrogation technique. It's kinda difficult for a severed head to tell you anything worth writing down particularily if their mouth is stuffed full of genitalia.

Spud agrees with Rasta's assessment that you are a pants pissing coward and with Celisary's assessment that you more closely resemble the Taliban than an actual American who cherishes and wishes to preserve the ideals that the country was founded on and which remain it's greatest strength.

Please, Google "Ronald Reagan on Torture Prosecution"...You Right Wings Assholes your Lord an Savior RR was against TORTURE, he wouldn't know the Republican Party of today. Limbaugh, Hannity, Orielly, Beck would make RR sick to his stomach as they do me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it did!

"oppressive regressives" what does that even mean? it's regressive to ADVANCE the cause of human rights? thats PROgressive, pal, get with the program or get left in the dust. When a FBI agent that was involved in the whole waterboarding fiasco tells you that nothing was gained from it, why not listen? or i guess he must be a "whining sniveling little girlie boy coward" too...?

Look up Hanns Scharff. He wrote a book and has a Wikipedia entry.

"After the end of WWII, Scharff was invited by the United States Air Force to give lectures on his interrogation techniques and first-hand experiences. The U.S. military later incorporated Scharff's methods into its curriculum at its interrogation schools. Scharff's methods are still taught in US Army interrogation schools."

Jesus H Christ Spud, Clintons impeachment was because he lied under oath not because he had that 'No Sex, Sex" stuff with a porkly college girl. He thought that since OJ escaped the DNA trail so could he I guess. I would have had more respect for the guy if he had said he did swab her tonsils.

Jesus H Christ Spud, Clintons impeachment was because he lied under oath not because he had that 'No Sex, Sex" stuff with a porkly college girl

And wot did he lie about under oath?

Sex with Lewinsky.

Something that wasn't really worth the time and money wasted on the witch-hunt that ensued.

Especially since it served to distract Clinton from concentrating on Al Quada just when they were starting to really get active.

Just as all the whiny bitchy obstructionism going on now about bowing and handshakes and teleprompters and teabags is distracting Obama from real problem.

Are you sure the Rethugs aint secret Al Quaeda members?

Just really stupid people who put their country last and their party first, ya say?

Well even if you were secret AQ you'd prolly deny it anyway.

^_^

I think that begging, bribing and maybe occasional harsh language would be good for interrogation techniques. Not

BPH: I think...

No, you don't.

Obviously.
