Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Once nearly eradicated in the United States, bedbugs have been re-emerging nationwide. The nocturnal bloodsuckers have made a comeback since the EPA banned many of the pesticides used to kill them, including DDT. They can squeeze into openings as small as a pencil point and live a year without eating, making them difficult to eradicate from hotels, dorms, apartments and residences.

DDT was banned in 1972.

If it took 37 years for the bed bugs to rise up, how long will the great Teabagger Revolt of 2009 take?

Bed Bugs Are Back

So there's still hope for the GOP?

First post was about sucking dick. Why?

So there's still hope for the GOP?

ah...good one...well a good one for you..

and the report this morning also talked about how they can bite you and you wont feel it.
a little on the scary side.

How much of the rest of the world still uses DDT?

Speaking from experience... this is true.

Had them about 5 years ago. Wife would constantly complain about bites but I'd never notice them myself. Where'd we come by them? I don't know but we did a fair amount of exotic travel back then.

Took a year of continuous bug checking to get rid of them. They can survive a long time without feeding.

Much like Vermin.

I used to put my kids to bed every night saying, just as my parents did, "Good night. Sleep tight. Don't let the bedbugs bite." I've been leaving out the bugs part lately.

Hey, bugs, BITE ME!

Er, on second thought...

...we did a fair amount of exotic travel back then....

it seems a lot of "exotic" have been flooding our borders for a long time now.

Sounds like axe likes to get teabagged. Sure seems to know alot about it. Don't ask, don't tell.

Chickenfucker,

You are the idiots out teabagging, not me. I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Maybe you and Bowel Movement can get together and compare dick sucking technique?

Better bed bugs than head bugs!

AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW that hurts, is that the best you got?

Progressive.... or recessive?

Bedbugs are parasites, sounds a lot like welfare recipients to me.

Why is it that you hate homosexuals and think that homosexual acts are wrong?

Bedbugs are parasites, sounds a lot like welfare recipients to me.

If the shoe fits. I do not care what color the state is.

Bedbugs actually developed a resistance to DDT and the other banned pesticides when they were used. I think that increased international travel is the biggest reason for the increase in the problem.
Here is an error in the article:

Health departments don't track bedbug infestations because the insects don't carry infectious diseases, said Emily Palmer, a spokeswoman with the Texas Department of State Health Services. But bedbug bites, which look like the work of large mosquitoes, often trigger an allergic reaction.

Actually bedbugs have been shown to carry disease just the same as cockroaches. I think what she meant to say is they DON'T TRANSMIT DISEASES(although that is not certain).
I had bedbugs and they are not fun. It is not rocket science to get rid of them, but it takes a lot of work. If you expect a simple solution sorry, most likely you are out of luck. You must follow a whole protocol to get rid of these suckers. Don't expect to spray a little insecticide and be done with these devils, they are smart (or maybe I should say they have great survival instincts)

they are tough little shits, but my wife and i won a battle with them a few years ago. much like hagbard's situation, she was getting bitten quite a bit, but i didn't notice anything. she's a lot sweeter than i am, though.

It is all Obama's fault.

Bedbugs are parasites, sounds a lot like welfare recipients to me.

I think we've found your problem.

just a reminder . . . he wasn't a really a plumber

Buy a natural latex mattress, preferably talalay style, and you won't fear bed bugs, fungus, or any other nasty stuff. Plus, you won't be spending 1/3 of your life on a toxic dump.
