Bed bugs biting in bigger batches
Nocturnal bloodsuckers re-emerging in Houston, across nation

In a decade of treating patients in Harris County Hospital District emergency rooms, Dr. William Ledlie had never seen someone for bedbug bites.

But in just six weeks, three men have found their way to him seeking relief from the itchy bumps.

"If I can walk in a room and say, You have bedbugs,' that's a real bad sign," Ledlie said.

Actually, as usual, you got it all back-asswards.

It's the red states who perenially suck the gubmint tit dry while the Blue states pay their way.

Why do facts hate Rtards so very much?

Be Well.

You don't pay taxes here, Spud, so why do you care?

You don't pay taxes here, Spud, so why do you care?

Spud's just a tiny little 8 1/2 inch ball of pure empathy.

Kinda like a care bear, in fact.

Only not nearly as fuzzy.

Thanx fer askin'!

Be Well.

It's the red states who perenially suck the gubmint tit dry I guess that explains why New Mexico has been top hog at the trough for the last 25 years, huh?

Bed bugs re-emerged about 5 years ago -- in Hershey Penn., and Orlando, Fla.: Two of the most popular destinations for German and French tourists.

So if you've got bed bugs, their ancestors came to the U.S. on the ass of a Frog

I'm confused by your link and what it says as it relates to the point you're trying to make. The data is "Per Capita Tax Burden." From your data, downloaded and reformatted so it can be sorted:

Rankings, Per Capita Tax Burden
FY 2005:
Mississippi 50
Louisiana 49
West Virginia 48
Arkansas 47
New Mexico 46
Kentucky 45
Utah 44
South Carolina 43
Alabama 42
Idaho 41

New Mexico's doesn't show up as 50th in any of the data. It's also odd to list it as a "Blue" State for point of argument in a historic context. Every other state listed clearly, historically, has been red.

Yav,

The problem I have with the red-state/blue-state thing is the implication that red-states are comprised of 100% conservatives and/or Republicans and blue states are 100% liberals and/or Democrats.

For example, the richest county in Michigan (one of the richest in the country) is Oakland county. Oakland county pays a shitload in taxes and yet it is mostly made up of Republicans. However, it gets counted as a "blue" county because it is nestled in a "blue" state.

Seriously.

We already "know" that the base of the Republican party is the rich. We also know that the top 10% of income earners pay roughly 70% of federal income taxes.

Are you guys (not necessarily you in particular, Yav) honestly trying to suggest that not only are the Democrats the party of the poor, but that Democrats also pay the lion's share of the federal income taxes???

As Danni would say, Puh-leeeeze.

Yav, according to the Tax Foundation,(my link) New Mexico has been consistantly the Number 1 reciepient of tax money recieved vs tax money paid. It looks to average out to be around 2 for 1. And they've been pretty blue for the last 5 election cycles, having gone red only once.

American1st, I got it now. I thought the data I downloaded (linked on the page) was for the chart. It was not a complete data set. I scrolled through and found what you're referring. Thanks for reposting so I could take another look. I have to do actual work now, so I won't be able to break it down or take a detailed look, but it does support your point. I'm good with that.

Jeff,

On the discussion to "top 10% pay 70%" thing - this is a surprise? The top 10% hold over 70% of the wealth in our Nation. Even if we all paid a flat tax, that statistic (if is still true) wouldn't change.

Are you sure?

American1st. I've now captured the data and sorted it for 2005 (last year given). I wish they'd given the data in spreadsheet format. Anyway - this is the top ten and the bottom ten.

Who gets the most back for their money?

New Mexico 1
Mississippi 2
Alaska 3
Louisiana 4
West Virginia 5
North Dakota 6
Alabama 7
South Dakota 8
Kentucky 9
Virginia 10

Who subsidizes the most?
New Jersey 1
Nevada 2
Connecticut 3
New Hampshire 4
Minnesota 5
Illinois 6
Delaware 7
California 8
New York 9
Colorado 10
